NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE with dual-fan cooler leaked

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 20, 2018 2:41 AM CDT

The latest rumor is that NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics card will feature a dual-fan cooler, a first for a single-GPU graphics card from the company.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE with dual-fan cooler leaked

VideoCardz is behind the leak once again, pointing out that the GeForce RTX logo is upside down in the image above for "promotional purposes". Anyway, we should expect the RTX 2080 Ti FE to be a possible exclusive through NVIDIA's own store, making it unavailable to retailers and etailers across the world.

We're expecting the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to be unveiled today during the GeForce Gaming Celebration event, with the RTX 2080 Ti to rock the TU102 GPU with a huge 4352 CUDA cores, 11GB of GDDR6 RAM on a 352-bit memory bus, what we should expect to be NVLink, and the new VirtualLink connector for next-gen VR headsets.

Jak Connor | Gaming | Aug 20, 2018 2:00 AM CDT

Ebb Software, the developers behind the upcoming first-person horror title SCORN have announced that their game will sadly be delayed to 2019. It isn't all bad news though.

Horror title SCORN delayed until sometime in 2019

For those that don't know, SCORN is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure title that will propel players into an isolated world designed to fiddle with the players mind. The world is nightmareish and different scenarios will entice the thought of "is this real or is this a dream."

The developers behind the title, Ebb Software have announced on the Steam Listing that the title has to be delayed to 2019. This is due to the development company receiving a substantial investment "We managed to sign an excellent deal with the great investment fund and acquire additional funds for the development of Scorn." The delay is so the company can come at the title with a fresh look and give players an overall better experience now that they can build a much more higher quality game. PS5 may release in late 2019

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 19, 2018 7:57 PM CDT

Sony's next-generation PlayStation 5 console could release in the tail end of 2019, but it all depends on the supply of critical hardware components.

PS5 may release in late 2019

In a recent market report, firm analyst Hideki Yasuda predicts the PlayStation 5's launch could happen in late 2019. This seems to clash with remarks from Sony corporate. "We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future," Sony Interactive President John Kodera said in a press meeting in May. It's believed the PS5 will not be part of Sony's current three-year plan and won't release before the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.

The system's launch timing depends directly on part availability--chiefly on the supply of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). Japanese electronics manufacturer TDK will be making the high-end MLCCs used in the PS5, but shortages may occur with the rollout of new mobile technology. If supply is constrained the PlayStation 5 should miss 2019 and release at a later date, possibly in 2020 or 2021 thus aligning with previous analyst predictions.

Analyst: Switch to sell 25 million units this fiscal year

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 19, 2018 7:04 PM CDT

Nintendo will exceed its original Switch shipment forecast for FY2018 by 25%, a key industry analyst predicts.

Analyst: Switch to sell 25 million units this fiscal year

According to Ace Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda, Nintendo should overshoot its original Switch console sell-in targets for the current fiscal year by 5 million units. In its first quarter earnings the Japanese games-maker forecasts 20 million Switch sales through the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, whereas Yasuda expects the company to actually move 25 million units worldwide. While Nintendo typically makes conservative hardware sales estimates, analysts note the console's strong demand across the globe--much of which is fueled by an ever-building software slate.

This sales goal will be quite challenging, current Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said in the filings. The console-handheld hybrid's games offering will shift units, Mr. Kimishima notes, primarily in the holiday season.

No Man's Sky was always about cosmic loneliness

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 19, 2018 6:03 PM CDT

One of the principal feelings you get about No Man's Sky when you play it is that it's huge, and it's this intergalactic massiveness that conveyed Sean Murray's inspiration: loneliness.

No Man's Sky was always about cosmic loneliness

When I reviewed No Man's Sky in 2016 I said it wasn't a game about discovery, but a game about getting lost: lost in a sprawling, every-shifting universe filled with so much to see and uncover...but there was one feeling that overrode all of that. This was loneliness, a kind of inner isolation nestled in an epic journey across the stars, an intimate endeavor that was meant to be different but also the same for everyone. According to Hello Games' Sean Murray, this was by design.

New Evil Dead game in the works

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 19, 2018 5:23 PM CDT

A new game based on the cult classic film series Evil Dead is currently in development, actor Bruce Campbell recently confirmed.

New Evil Dead game in the works

While horror icon Bruce Campbell has hung up the chainsaw and will no longer play Ash Williams in any Evil Dead movies or shows, he'll lend his voice to an upcoming video game. In a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting, Campbell outed the existence of the project, describing it as an "immersive kind of dealio".

When asked if Campbell's retirement affected any future game adaptations, the actor told Bloody Disgusting's Meagan Navarro: "Oh no no, that's different. I have previous obligations I have to fulfill. They are doing a video game. A whole immersive kind of dealio. I'll be Ash for that, because I wouldn't want someone else's voice hamming it up," he said.

Now that I've finally landed in Cologne, Germany for NVIDIA's exciting GeForce Gaming Celebration event, a new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 card have been shown off.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080/2080 Ti WindForce/Gaming teased

The latest to join the leak fest is GIGABYTE with their refreshed WindForce and Gaming branded cards, but the problem is that they all look virtually identical. GIGABYTE might have some troubles marketing these cards unless there's a drastic difference in GPU clocks.

Starting with the higher-end GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming OC graphics card, which comes in as a thicker 2.5-slot card and as the source of the leak, VideoCardz, points out - the Gaming OC models of the new RTX 20 series cards feature a carbon-fiber structure on the rear I/O bracket.

ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 cards shown off

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 19, 2018 1:52 AM CDT

We've already had our geek meters blown up over all of the other AIB partners' custom GeForce RTX series graphics cards, and now it's time for ASUS to shine.

ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 cards shown off

VideoCardz is behind this leak (and every single other one) with our first look at the ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 cards smiling for the camera. We also get a look at the upcoming DUAL and TURBO RTX series, with a blower fan cooling down the next-gen Turing GPU architecture and GDDR6 memory.

First up, we have the ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with a triple-fan cooler and what seems like a 2.5-slot design. The RTX 2080 version of the card looks identical, except it has cut down specs compared to the RTX 2080 Ti.

Fox to adapt Vampyr into TV series

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 18, 2018 6:52 PM CDT

Cable network FOX is making a live action television series based on the excellent Vampyr game, proving the stars do align sometimes.

Fox to adapt Vampyr into TV series

When I first learned about Vampyr's premise--that of a vampire doctor who can either heal or feed on those around him, or both--I thought one thing quite clearly: it's an absolute perfect fit for a TV or movie adaptation. The game's story is winding and clever, its early 1900's London grim and dark, and its themes macabre but also unique (I love the idea of a vampire doctor who keeps denizens alive like cattle just so he can feed on them in the future). In my Vampyr review I noted that the game's themes are darkly enchanting and Dr. Acula's arc of development is bloody good...and even noticed some interesting parallels to other shows like Tales From the Crypt.

Other than FOX securing the rights, not much is known about Vampyr's TV series right now. We have no clue who will play Dr. Jonathan Reid (aka Dr. Acula) but we do know that Wonderland Sound and Vision will produce effects and work alongside DJ2 Entertainment to create the show. No release date or window was given and it could take some time to flesh out Dontnod's grim and foggy world, but I for one can't wait to see what FOX and company cook up.

We now have our first look at the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti DUKE graphics cards, which are similar - but not identical to the GAMING X TRIO variant.

MSI's new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO teased

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 17, 2018 7:11 AM CDT

It looks like NVIDIA will be unveiling the higher-end GeForce RTX 2080 Ti next week, and not just the expected GeForce RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 graphics cards. VideoCardz is now showing off some photos of MSI's first custom RTX 2080 Ti graphics card.

MSI's new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO teased

MSI's new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO graphics card is similar to the current GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X TRIO, but the new card features a few fairly large changes, apart from the new Turing GPU and GDDR6 memory. The new RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO has a VirtualLink connector, the new USB-C port for next-gen VR headsets but it is the loss of SLI and gain of NVLink which has me happy.

I only just wrote about NVIDIA ditching the SLI connector in favor of NVLink, which could see VRAM doubling instead of being wasted on the other card. This would mean that two RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards in NVLink would have a truly insane 22GB of GDDR6 at its disposal.

Blizzard say Overwatch port to Switch is completely feasible

Jak Connor | Gaming | Aug 17, 2018 3:24 AM CDT

After the recent news confirming Diablo 3 being ported over to the Nintendo Switch, Blizzards Senior Producer, Pete Stilwell was asked if it was possible that Overwatch could see the same treatment. Hold onto your hat because Overwatch coming to the Nintendo Switch is completely possible.

Blizzard say Overwatch port to Switch is completely feasible

Blizzard and Nintendo just confirmed that Diablo 3 would be making its way to the handheld console this fall, and while that is amazing news GameSpot has sat down with Senior Producer at Blizzard Entertainment, Pete Stilwell. Stilwell was asked a series of questions regarding the now confirmed port of Diablo 3, the producer said that now that the developers have worked very closely with the Nintendo Switchs' technology, the developers have now achieved a much better grasp on how everything works, thus opening up more possible avenues for collaboration.

With the developers now new found knowledge of how the system works, GameSpot directly asked Stilwell if he could see Overwatch being ported over to the Switch. Stilwell replied with: "Anything is within the realm of possibility. Our team was given the task to work on this. If [Overwatch developer] Team 4 picks up that endeavor, that's on them. As of right now Diablo is our only focus on Switch." Stilwell was further asked if the Switch had the technological capabilities to run Overwatch, the Senior Producer replied with "Yes, it is feasible." Sure, this isn't really much to go off to say that Overwatch is 100% coming to the Switch, but it does confirm that it is entirely possible. Could we see Blizzard make an Overwatch port sometime soon? Perhaps, my personal guess would that the developers will wait until Diablo 3 is successfully brought over before tackling another massive project.

New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U rumored for Switch

New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U rumored for Switch

According to Comic Book, sources that are close to Nintendo Europe have told the website that Nintendo are planning on releasing port of 'New Super Mario Bros. U' for the Nintendo Switch. The rumor reveals that this port of New Super Mario Bros. U will also contain the paid DLC New Super Luigi U. Comic Book claims that these rumors have been provided by the same person who gave them accurate information regarding Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, but no definitive proof has been provided.

Comic Book also says that the title of the finished game could be 'New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe', "It's unclear whether or not this could be an internal placeholder, but the recurring nature of this title among multiple Nintendo sources suggests it could be more final." This would make sense and it would certainly complement the Gameboy Color Super Mario Bros. Deluxe title. Do take these rumors with a grain of salt because at the moment this is all hear-say , if anymore information surfaces regarding the potential port we will be sure to update you.
