Devil May Cry 5 gets stylish new gameplay and release date

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 21, 2018 6:16 PM CDT

Capcom's latest Devil May Cry game will continue the series' tradition of slice-and-dice action when it releases in March 2019.

Devil May Cry 5 gets stylish new gameplay and release date

When Devil May Cry 5 was announced at E3 2018 I was so relieved it has the over-the-top craziness and all-out mayhem found in the DmC prequel. There's just something so enthralling and captivating about a suave demon hunter pulling off some absolutely bonkers tricks, and the sequel shows Nero in his prime.

In its latest gameplay footage, Capcom illustrated some of the wackiness we'll find in DMC5: Nero rides a rocket like a skateboard and sends it careening into a titanic baddy, only to celebrate with a hilarious finishing move, and then we see Dante decimating foes with hits motorcycle. Yeah, his motorcycle is a weapon.

Battlefield V's low pre-orders could hurt EA, says analyst

Battlefield V may end up being a casualty of October's big rush of games, says Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz.

Battlefield V's low pre-orders could hurt EA, says analyst

EA may have another Titanfall 2 situation on its hands--at least if one analyst's forecasts are accurate. According to games industry analyst Doug Creutz, Battlefield V has alarmingly low pre-orders compared to other October juggernauts like Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2. "EA's Battlefield V currently appears to potentially be headed for serious disappointment," Mr. Creutz said in a message to investors, pointing to weak pre-sales of the game. "If we had to pick one game to be a casualty of the crowded October window, this would clearly be it."

But just how bad are Battlefield V's pre-orders? The firm notes BFV is about 85% behind its other major October competitors. Low pre-orders could affect overall sales of the game, the report suggests, making EA miss its ~14 million unit sales goal. "With a release date directly in between CoD and RDR, we worry that BFV could be headed for a similar fate as 2016's Titanfall 2, which got squeezed out by its launch date directly between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," Mr. Creutz said.

Devolver Digital has brought numerous indie titles to the Nintendo Switch this year as apart of their #SummerofDevolver campaign, if you happened to miss the publishers other titles they are listed as the following: Advanced Gungeons & Draguns update for Enter the Gunegon, Crossing Souls, Not a Hero and Minit. The publisher also announced that their title 'The Messenger' will be launching on August 30th.

We now finally have a release date for Broforce, in my opinion they have saved the best one for last, Devolver Digital has announced that Broforce will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch on September 6th. If you happen to be unfamiliar with Broforce, here is a quick description of the title: "When evil threatens the world, the world calls on Broforce - an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization dealing exclusively in excessive force. Brace your loins with up to four players to run 'n' gun as dozens of different bros and eliminate the opposing terrorist forces that threaten our way of life. "

CD Projekt RED to adapt key IPs into mobile games

CD Projekt RED to adapt key IPs into mobile games

Today CD Projekt RED announced it's bought a majority stake in iPhone and iPad mobile game dev Spokko, who is now working on an unannounced mobile project based on the games-maker's popular IP slate.

Before you get disappointed, Spokko exec Maciej Weiss says this new mobile title will be an "advanced and ambitious project," rather than a "casual game." We could very well see The Witcher games roll out on higher-end smartphones and tablets, or even a new adventure based on Geralt's story arc. Or maybe even Cyberpunk 2077 mobile?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gets release date

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch March 22, 2019, the game's official Steam page reveals.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gets release date

From Software took gamers by surprise at E3 2018 with its new "samurai souls" game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, kicking off a new wave of hype from fans worldwide. The devs say that Sekiro will be more vertical based and focuses strongly on agility over the traditional roll-and-dodge approach in Dark Souls, but that same tough-as-nails difficulty will be intact. "They're going to get that really high level challenge that's probably even more challenging than previous From games," said From Software's Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Although Activision will publish the game, it'll pop up on Steam versus the Battle.net storefront (Activision typically only sells its wholly-owned IPs on the platform). With a March 2019 launch the game will be a part of Activision-Blizzard's Calendar 2019 timeline, and if things go well, we could see even more From Software-Activision team-ups in the future.

Respawn's new VR game is an AAA FPS, may be Titanfall 3 VR

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 20, 2018 4:16 PM CDT

Respawn Entertainment's new VR game is now labeled a "AAA FPS," which could mean a port or standalone adaptation of one of EA's key franchises.

Respawn's new VR game is an AAA FPS, may be Titanfall 3 VR

When we first heard about Respawn's new VR game back in October 2017, the devs made one thing clear: the game would exemplify the bloody mayhem of war through the eyes of a soldier. We know Respawn has teamed up with Oculus for the game so it should be a Rift exclusive, possibly powered by the next-gen Santa Cruz headset. But ultimately there wasn't much concrete info to glean about the VR project itself. Until now.

Respawn's recent job listings directly call the unannounced VR game a AAA shooter, and both terms are particularly important. "We're looking for a highly skilled Senior Animator who will help provide vision through believable, compelling animation for our new AAA VR shooter game," reads a senior animator listing.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night delayed to 2019

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 20, 2018 2:17 PM CDT

Ambitious side-scroller RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been delayed to 2019, developer Koji Igarashi today announced.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night delayed to 2019

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's success on Kickstarter shows gamers really want more classic-style Castlevania games, especially ones developed by the godfather of the series. As a big fan of these games I can say Bloodstained looks absolutely fantastic...but there's a small problem. The game, which has raised $5.5 million in crowd funding, has been in development for some time and will miss its original 2018 release in favor of a 2019 delay. This pushback, Iga says, will allow the team to shore up rough edges, apply polish, and make key changes gleaned from player feedback.

"Our first announcement is that the game will now launch in 2019," Igarashi said in the announcement. "The most important reason for this is to raise the quality level, especially after all the very valuable feedback from the Beta Backer Demo."

ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 Ti AMP! Edition rumored to cost $1199

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 20, 2018 8:12 AM CDT

We know so much about NVIDIA's about-to-be-announced GeForce RTX series graphics cards, but one of the largest pieces of the puzzle is missing: price. Well, it looks like we could be paying between $700-$1200 for the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti if the leaked pricing from VideoCardz is right.

ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 Ti AMP! Edition rumored to cost $1199

The site is reporting from information from ElChapuzasInformatico that the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 Ti AMP! Edition will cost a rather large $1199, while the RTX 2080 AMP! will cost $839. This might sound insane, but it makes sense. NVIDIA has a lot of GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards left in the channel and will need to get rid of them.

Why price the new cards at $699 max (RTX 2080 Ti) if it truly is a huge leap in performance over the GTX 1080 Ti? What would the GTX 1080 Ti be priced at tomorrow? $299? The new pricing is big... but we will have confirmation in the coming hours hopefully.

Even though this is not a fundamental gameplay change, the new great customizational ability players have with the "Create Your Court" will no doubt grant some higher levels of immersion. Players will be able to enjoy their games much more when they are playing on a court they customized specifically to their wants. NBA Live 19 will be available on September 7th. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE with dual-fan cooler leaked

The latest rumor is that NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics card will feature a dual-fan cooler, a first for a single-GPU graphics card from the company.
