Disney and Nintendo partner for a Nintendo Switch TV show

Jak Connor | Gaming | Jun 19, 2018 3:00 AM CDT

Disney has announced that they will be partnering-up with Nintendo to present a new TV show completely dedicated to a family playing the Nintendo Switch.

Disney and Nintendo partner for a Nintendo Switch TV show

According to Business Insider, the upcoming show will be titled "Nintendo Switch Family Showdown" and will bring four families together to compete with eachother in a selection of Nintendo Switch games. The games that will be played are Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Tennis Aces and Just Dance 2018.

Nintendo Switch Family Showdown will be streamed on the Disney Channel, Disney XD and the DisneyNOW app. Personally, I don't think that this show will 'take-off' very well at all, instead of Disney and Nintendo making a show based around playing the Nintendo Switch they should make a show featuring the Nintendo universe and all of its amazing characters. I feel as this idea would apply to a much larger audience and would not only attract younger generations to buying/playing Nintendo Switch games, but it will also older generations that would love to see their favorite characters in a Disney level TV show.

Those that are not aware of what EA Access is, it is a monthly paid service that allows for players to play demos of some big EA titles, while also giving full access to over 100 games in what is called The Vault.

Unravel Two is quite self-explanatory, the first title was only a single-player game but now, as you could have guessed players will now have the choice to take a friend on their adventure. Judging from the trailer we can see quite a great range of unique puzzles that players will have to traverse, here is the official description for the title "Unravel Two builds off of the original game and centers on the bond between two Yarnys, which can be played as a single player or local co-op drop-in/drop-out experience. WHO classifies 'gaming disorder' as mental health condition

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Jun 19, 2018 12:22 AM CDT

Most people know someone who loves games, and is even obsessed with games - and now the World Health Organization recognizes having a "gaming disorder" as a mental health condition.

WHO classifies 'gaming disorder' as mental health condition

WHO said that by classifying "gaming disorder" on its own, it will help gamers, families, governments, and health care workers to be more aware of gaming disorders. But having a gaming disorder, by the classification of WHO, is very rare - with less than 3% of gamers affected by their definition of a gaming disorder.

British Psychological Society spokeswoman Dr. Joan Harvey explained that the designation of a "gaming disorder" might panic parents in the wrong way. She explains: "People need to understand this doesn't mean every child who spends hours in their room playing games is an addict, otherwise medics are going to be flooded with requests for help".

According to the PlayStation blog post written by Justin Massongill, the Social Media Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment says that it will only take players 5 minutes to feel exactly like Spider-Man. The smooth controls allow for players to immediately take full rein over Spideys quick and agile movements.

Massongill also addresses how the combat feels in the title, here is what he had to say "Combat, by the way, felt plenty accessible, almost to the point that I thought I had mastered it in a paltry few minutes of practice... until I opened the "Move List" window. Holy moly! Scrolling through the rundown of moves and combos available to Spidey felt like learning a new character in a fighting game."

Nintendo/Ubisoft Starlink Star Fox partnership explained

According to Ubisoft's Creative Director, Laurent Malville, the partnership began at last year's E3 when a few Nintendo executives played the demo at a private showing room. Malville explains that they seemed to really enjoy the demo and came back with a second group of people, within this second group one of the executives asked "Is it OK if I come back with a group of higher executives?" and Malville replied with "Yes! Yes, absolutely."

The story continues with "So they came a third and fourth time to check out the demo, to the point where we were finally showing it off to the President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime. I'll never forget when he grabbed the controller and said, "This is a neat concept you have here." It felt like something was happening, but we weren't exactly sure what."

Unearth a 'Tomb Raider' Blu-ray in our latest giveaway!

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father's global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he's truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can't understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad's last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn't be higher for Lara, who-against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit-must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

Nintendo's next Virtual Console is Nintendo Switch Online

At E3 2018, IGN was lucky enough to sit down with the president and chief operating officer for Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime. During the talks Fils-Aime confirmed that the next Nintendo Virtual Console would be the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Nintendo's next Virtual Console is Nintendo Switch Online

People that are awaiting news about the next Nintendo Virtual Console will be glad to know that wait is finally over. Fils-Aime has addressed the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online service and considers it to be the next Virtual Console, here is what he had to say: "The Virtual Console successor is Nintendo Switch Online, right? With the mentality that says we're going to be offering a slate of games, and it's a slate that's going to increase over time. For many of these games, there's going to be additional online capability provided in those games. That's the vision we have for how to best bring our legacy content to Nintendo Switch"

Fils-Aime continues and mentions the cloud storage and how Nintendo are thinking about applying this new paid service. "We do [believe people will subscribe], and I say that because what we've laid out is a proposition where, yes you get the competitive play accessibility, you also get the cloud save, and you get access to the legacy content. That's a fantastic proposition for $20 a year. We believe that it's not going to be any type of issue for us. In fact, it's going to enable us to continue offering a varied slate of opportunities from an online experience standpoint."
