A gang of MONKEYS stole coronavirus blood samples from Indian lab
I can't believe I'm typing this news seriously, but here we go: a gang of monkeys have attacked a medical official in India -- and stolen blood samples of people who had tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus.
The attack happened when the laboratory technician was taking a walk through the campus in Meerut, which is around 285 miles (460 km) north of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh state. Those monkeys sure were lucky... get it? Anyway, A top official at the college, Dr. S. K. Garg, explained: "Monkeys grabbed and fled with the blood samples of four COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment ... we had to take their blood samples again".
We don't know of the monkeys had spilled the blood, or if they took it into areas where there are people -- spreading fear that the virus could be out in the open. Garg told Reuters: "No evidence has been found that monkeys can contract the infection".

Watch this video of the SpaceX Starship prototype EXPLODE during test
SpaceX was due to launch the first NASA astronauts into space from American soil in 9 years just a couple of days ago, and will do in the next 24 hours -- but work doesn't stop for the US space agency.
In some new testing, SpaceX was working on its Starship project -- successfully completing a static fire test on its new SN4 prototype. Except, it all went wrong and it exploded right there on the test stand. The Starship SN4 prototype exploded at around 1:49PM CDT (2:49PM EDT, or 6:49PM GMT) at SpaceX's own test facility near Boca Chica, Texas.
Space.com reports that SpaceX's Starship SN4 vehicle is the "latest in a series of stainless steel prototypes SpaceX has built to test technologies required for a truly massive space launch system: the 165-foot-tall (50 meters) Starship rocket and its Super Heavy megabooster. That vehicle is the one SpaceX hopes will carry up to 100 people at a time to space and, eventually, on to Mars".

President Trump is 'terminating relationship' with WHO over China
President Trump has just bought the gauntlet down on the World Health Organization, where in a press conference hours ago at the White House, he announced the US government is "terminating our relationship" with the WHO.
President Trump said that the WHO is completely controlled by China, explaining: "China has total control over the World Health Organization despite only paying $40 million per year, compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450 million a year".
It was only a month ago that Trump stopped funding the WHO, sending the organization a more threatening letter on May 18 that said: "If the World Health Organisation does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organisation permanent and reconsider our membership in the organisation".

Sony to support PS4 for 'multiple years' after PlayStation 5 launch
The PS4 will live on for years after the PS5 launches in Holiday 2020, complete with games, hardware updates, and more.
When the PS5 arrives in 2020, Sony will have two consoles running in parallel that also intersect in the same ecosystem. We already know the PS4 and PS5 generations will overlap for multiple years as Sony builds up the next-gen install base and eventually hands off the torch to the newer hardware.
That being said, the PS5 is a reset button for the PlayStation brand. Today Sony's Jim Ryan confirmed the PS5 will have next-gen exclusives not available on the PS4. But that doesn't mean Sony is ready to shut the door in the current-gen's massive 110.4 million install base and the billions of revenue that hardware platform generates.

PlayStation 5 won't be held back by PS4 hardware gen, Sony confirms
Sony confirms it won't force developers to make PS5 games run on older last-gen PS4 hardware.
Unlike Microsoft, who has mandated first-party studios can't make next-gen exclusives, Sony says some PS5 games won't be available on the PS4. Microsoft plans to merge the Xbox One and Xbox Series X generations together for a few years, but Sony wants to jump headlong into the new gen and make firm separations between the PS4 and PS5.
Sony will allow no-compromise next-gen performance. Devs can make PS5 exclusives that're built from the ground up for the higher-end 2.23GHz 10.3TFLOP Navi RDNA 2 GPU, 3.5GHz 8-core Zen 2 CPU, ultra-fast 5.5GB/sec PCIe 4.0 SSD, and 16GB of GDDR6 unified RAM.

Sony: watch the future of PlayStation 5 on June 4, 2020 at 4PM EST
This is it, folks. Sony today announced a new PS5 showcase centered around next-gen games, and it's coming next week.
The new digital-only PlayStation 5 stream is dedicated to the next generation of games across first- and third-party studios that push the hardware to its limits with ultra-fast loading, 4K and even 8K gaming, high frame rates, and ray traced visuals.
The selection will focus on PS5 launch games that're releasing alongside the console in Holiday 2020. Don't expect to see titles like Battlefield 6 or Dragon Age 4 running on the machine.

HGST 8TB Ultrastar He10 SATA HDD is on sale
Typically when we talk about B&H and the discounts it gives out on products, it's usually a notebook that's on sale. B&H has a wide range of products, including computer hardware. Sony to reveal PlayStation 5 console soon to get head start on leaks
Bloomberg writer Takashi Mochizuki just brought up a good point: Sony is likely to reveal the PS5 so it can curb any leaked pictures that surface from production plants.
Sony's next-gen PS5 has just entered mass production. Both Sony and Microsoft are ordering huge quantities of 7nm SoCs from AMD to ensure their next-gen consoles are ready for Holiday 2020. We already know what the Xbox Series X looks like, but Sony has been secretive about the PlayStation 5's final console design. That should change quite soon.
The idea is that Sony wants to be the one that reveals the PS5, not an overseas plant worker who leaks fuzzy picture or makes a drawing of a production line console. The company has put in lots of investment in the next-gen console, and rightly so as it's the future of the billion-dollar PlayStation brand. This time it's different, though. The PS5 represents a true generational leap beyond anything we've seen before thanks to its highly-customized SoC, RAM memory, and PCIe 4.0 SSD synergy.

Is Final Fantasy 16 in development? Square Enix's earnings give clues
Square Enix will reveal Final Fantasy 16 this summer, a new rumor claims. This seems unlikely, but the company's financials do indicate a ramp-up for new projects.
Right now Square Enix has a lot on its plate. There's Outriders, the new game from People Can Fly, Babylon's Fall, the mysterious RPG from Platinum Games, and its main bread-and-butter franchises like Dragon's Quest and Final Fantasy. The company is currently developing major titles like Final Fantasy 7 Remake chapter 2 and Crystal Dynamics' Avengers, the first game in its big multi-year deal with Marvel.
So where does Final Fantasy 16 fit in? In 2019, Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy 14 game director Yoshi-P was taking the helm of a new project. The new unannounced game is a next-gen title, and has been in full production since April 2019. Many speculate Yoshi-P is working on the next mainline Final Fantasy game while Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase work on Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

PS Blog adds dedicated PlayStation 5 news section
PlayStation 5 news is finally coming and Sony has prepared its PS Blog with a special section for the next-gen system.
Sony has added a dedicated PS5 section to the PS Blog's categories list, allowing users to isolate stories and news on the upcoming 10TFLOP system. Right now the section is somewhat sparse and contains three games--Dirt 5, Outriders, and Godfall--alongside the handful of PS5 announcements Sony has made.
This comes days after Sony adjusted the PlayStation 5's official website with simplified buzzword descriptors like "lightning speed," "stunning games," and "breathtaking immersion."

Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz steps down from the mysterious AR company
Magic Leap dropped half of its staff after it charted a "new course" in restructuring itself, surviving the COVID-19 pandemic and its many effects on the world. This is also not the first time Magic Leap has been in trouble.
In an official statement at the time, CEO Rony Abovitz said the restructuring would also see an increased focus on enterprise. This was barely a month ago, and now Rony Abovitz has stepped down as CEO of Magic Leap. It seems Rony Abovitz has removed himself from Magic Leap's reality.
Anyone that has been following Magic Leap's super mysterious journey as an augmented reality startup, as it has raised billions of dollars from some of the largest companies and investors in the world -- without a consumer product. The company pivoted towards enterprise, and that's not working either -- but maybe with a new injection of funding, things will change.

Sonic the Hedgehog movie has a sequel already in development
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was announced all the way back in February 2016, quickly being hyped throughout 2018 and 2019 -- and then delayed in May 2019 to fix the bad CGI of Sonic after fan backlash.
Sonic the Hedgehog was delayed into 2020 to allow the visual effects teams to tweak Sonic's look, with a re-designed Sonic shown off in the awesome trailer to Sonic the Hedgehog in November 2019 -- with a new release of February 14, 2020. That trailer cemented it: the director and team behind the movie listened, and the movie released was in far better form than the early trailer.
This has all led to today: where Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy have "commenced development on a sequel to the live-action family comedy. The sequel would re-team the filmmakers, with Jeff Fowler directing, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller writing the script".

YouTube finally, only just now in 2020, has timestamps with 'Chapters'
YouTube is celebrating reaching the halfway mark of 2020 by doing something they hsould've had many years ago: built-in timestamps which the company calls "Chapters". Check out the tweet, with the video, below:
Content creators won't need to do anything special to get Chapters on their videos, they just need to write up the timestamps in the description of their video. The first chapter has to begin at 0:00 for YouTube's new Chapters feature to work, while videos need to have at least 3 chapters with over 10 seconds or longer, too.
It's kinda funny that it took YouTube this damn long to get its Chapters feature into its video service, but at least it's finally here.

Elon Musk's huge $800 million payday is thanks to Tesla kicking ass
You may hate his tweets. You may hate his memes. You might hate his weed and 420 jokes. You might hate that he blazed up with Joe Rogan on JRE -- but you can't deny that Elon Musk is kicking ass and firing on all cylinders when it comes to Tesla Motors and SpaceX.
Musk is about to get a hefty $800 million payday thanks to the Tesla board certifying a new financial milestone that unlocks the first grouping, or tranche of close to 1.7 million shares at a huge discount. Right now, Tesla shares are steady at $805 -- with a value of $775 million or so -- Musk gets the option of taking those shares at $350 per share.
Why is Musk getting this money? It's part of a compensation plan that was approved by shareholders back in 2018, where it splits up 20.3 million stock option awards into 12 tranches of 1.69 million shares each.

Here's how you can download the System Shock Remastered demo
I can't believe the day is finally here, but the System Shock Remastered demo is finally here. You can download it from Steam and GOG right now.
Nightdive Studios first announced the news of System Shock Remastered back in 2016, where it hit Kickstarter on May 29, 2016. The game had its name changed from "System Shock Remastered" to "System Shock" as they considered the effort the team is putting into the game making it more of a reboot of the original game, versus just a remaster.
The developer has promised that there is "much more System Shock news coming in June", which is right around the corner.

HP's new Reverb G2 virtual reality headset delivers 4K VR gaming
HP's new Reverb G2 is a next-gen iteration of its previous Reverb VR HMD, and sports features like dual 2160x2160 lenses and four built-in cameras.
Today HP announced the Reverb G2, a new PC-powered virtual reality headset that packs serious power in a lightweight design. The HMD was built in tandem with Microsoft for the Windows Mixed Reality platform, but Valve also helped design the lenses and ensured Steam VR operability.
The Reverb G2 starts at $599 and is a wired headset, so it's not standalone and requires a PC to operate. On paper the Reverb G2 is similar to the original Reverb VR headset. The G2 sports include dual 2160x2160 LCD panels to deliver 4320x2160p resolution for gaming, four built-in cameras with 6DoF inside-out tracking with an "infinite" tracking area, and a lightweight 1.1lbs HMD frame with adjustable velcro straps and face cushions. The HMD runs at 90Hz refresh rates and has a 114-degree field-of-view, just like the original headset.

Xbox Series X boosts old games to 120FPS with unlocked GPU, CPU power
The Xbox Series X will play thousands of backwards compatible games across three generations, and all of them will harness the full native power of the system's 12TFLOP GPU and 3.8GHz Zen 2 CPU.
The new next-gen Xbox Series X also has serious next-gen backwards compatibility boosts that can significantly improve in-game performance. The Xbox Series X will natively enhance all backwards compatible games to massive levels, doubling frame rates (if a game runs at 30FPS base, it'll run at 60FPS on XSX, and up to 120FPS for games that normally hit 60FPS), simulating HDR visuals, tapping the built-in 2.5GB/sec PCIe 4.0 SSD for ultra-fast load times, and raising fidelity up to native 4K.
Microsoft previously confirmed Gears of War 4 Ultimate hits native 4K on the XSX without any upgrades from developers.
