NVIDIA's new Pascal-based Quadro P6000 rocks 24GB of GDDR5X
NVIDIA has just unleashed its new Quadro P6000 and P5000 graphics cards, both based on the new Pascal architecture and on the 16nm FinFET process.
Starting with the higher-end Quadro P6000, we have a P100 GPU with the full 3840 CUDA cores and a huge 24GB of GDDR5X RAM. It will have 4 x DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and DVI, with NVIDIA saying the Quadro P6000 can support four 5K 60Hz displays.
The Quadro P5000 has the GP104 GPU (the same one found in the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070) while it has 2560 CUDA cores. There's 16GB of DDR5X RAM, four DisplayPort and DVI outputs. Where Quadro cards differ from the GeForce side of things, is that the new Quadro graphics cards support 4K 120/240Hz and even 8K video at 30Hz.

Gears of War 4 has unlocked frame rate on PC
With Gears of War 4, Microsoft's first-party studio The Coalition has made an effort to fix the Windows Store's awkward PC gaming support, enabling features like unlocked frame rates, tighter GPU implementation, ultra-wide support, 4K textures, and more.
"Our focus on PC is to deliver a highly optimized, customizable experience first and foremost," The Coalition's technical director Mike Rayner told Eurogamer. "Support for v-sync tearing has recently come to UWP and we will be able to offer proper unlocked frame-rate support that gamers expect on day one. With Unreal Engine 4 and our own custom modifications, we can take much better advantage of multiple CPU cores, alleviating the game from being CPU-bound and allowing more room for the GPU to shine with enhanced visual quality or higher framerates. Single-player will not be locked to 30fps on PC."
Rayner also says that Gears of War 4 on PC will have 4K resolution textures and sports 28 different tweakable settings that affect in-game graphics and performance, each with its own explicit explanation of how it affects the GPU/CPU and VRAM to optimized gameplay. So the game should play nicely with video cards across the entire spectrum like enthusiast-grade video cards like NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 1080, AMD's mid-grade Radeon RX 480, or older Maxwell-based GTX 970s.

Kojima Productions' opening title sequence is weird, but awesome
Kojima Productions has released its first footage, with its new mascot in action - on the moon, with a whale behind it. This clip will most likely be the transition to the title menu.
The clip highlights how gamers will begin their Kojima Productions made video game, but there's no gameplay footage here, folks. As for the person in the space suit, it's Ludens - Kojima Productions' mascot. During San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Ludens would be featured with two action figures thanks to 1000 Toys.
We don't know which game engine was used to render the trailer, with Kojima Productions currently considering two engines for its first game, Death Stranding. Death Stranding will be Kojima Productions' first game, after Hideo Kojima and Konami went their separate ways after the release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain last year.

Xbox One 500GB price cut to $249 ahead of Xbox One S launch
Microsoft has dropped the price of its Xbox One 500GB console, with a new limited price of $249. It looks like Microsoft wants to get rid of as many Xbox One consoles ahead of the Xbox One S launch.
The new $249 deal includes your choice of four games: Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay. This is not the first, or even second time that Microsoft has dropped the price of the Xbox One, but now the third price drop on its current-gen Xbox One console.
Microsoft is set to launch the Xbox One S on August 2 in the US, Europe and Australia with 2TB of storage for $399. There will also be a 500GB and 1TB model, with prices of $299 and $349, respectively. There's no ETA on the 500GB and 1TB Xbox One S consoles just yet.

Verizon reportedly buying Yahoo for $5 billion
It looks like Yahoo is going to be acquired by Verizon in the very near future, with Recode reporting that while the terms of the acquisition haven't been finalized, Yahoo's board have decided on Verizon as its new owner.
Verizon would be acquiring Yahoo for $5 billion, and while it might not sound like much in the world of other acquisitions worth many times more than that, Yahoo does own companies like Tumblr and Flickr. Verizon acquiring Yahoo sees them also receive those companies, which begins to make more sense.
But the most interesting part of Verizon's reported acquisition of Yahoo is that Verizon isn't interested in keeping Yahoo's current boss, Marissa Mayer. AOL boss Tim Armstrong is expected to take over the Yahoo ship once the acquisition is done. Adding fuel to the fire is that Armstrong proposed an AOL-Yahoo merger to Meyer years ago, with Meyer denying the deal.

Apple's new iPhone 7 to be unveiled in early September
The announcement and release of Apple's next-gen iPhone 7 smartphone is closer than you think, with Apple set to reveal the new iPhone in the "week of September 12", according to notorious leaker Evan Blass.
Blass took to Twitter to say: "iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12" and quickly followed that up by tweeting: "Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th".
Rewinding the clock back to the last two iPhone releases, Apple revealed the iPhone 6 on September 9, and the iPhone 6S on September 25. What should we expect for the new iPhone? Considering Apple saves its bigger upgrades for the 'S' variants a year later, we shouldn't be too excited - but Apple needs something exciting to get people upgrading, and converting over from the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge from Samsung right now.

Watch all of the best Comic-Con trailers right here
This year's San Diego Comic-Con has been huge, with some massive movie trailer reveals - including Justice League and Wonder Woman. Plenty of TV shows are also teasing trailers at SDCC, so we've collected a bunch of the best trailers for your viewing pleasure.
Starting off with the follow up to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the larger movie, Justice League.
Zack Snyder is back - and while I loved Man of Steel, I didn't like Batman v Superman so much, so I have very mixed feelings with Snyder taking on Justice League after the mess of BvS - but, in saying that, the trailer looks good.

NVIDIA's next-gen Volta architecture could arrive in May 2017
NVIDIA might have just launched its next-gen Titan X graphics card, but thinking into 2017 - what will NVIDIA do since it has so many high-end, enthusiast graphics cards out on its Pascal architecture? Volta, baby.
According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA will launch its Volta architecture in May 2017 at its own GPU Technology Conference that is being held May 8-11. NVIDIA's current roadmap has Volta ready for 2018, but the new rumors suggest NVIDIA is preparing Volta for a big unveil in the second half of 2017 - over six months ahead of schedule.
Volta was meant to arrive on the 10nm process, but according to Fudzilla, it will use the 16nm FinFET process - the same node that the new GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1060 are all on. Volta will use stacked DRAM, so we should expect it to be quite the monster when it comes to performance. Fudzilla adds that the performance per watt is "expected to increase tremendously", which is exciting to hear.

SAPPHIRE's new Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 leaked photos surface
With the release of the Radeon RX 480, we have seen a newly-focused AMD that isn't trying to compete in a market that it can't compete in yet against NVIDIA. The mainstream market is where the money and consumers are, and this market is thriving.
Well, now we have leaks on SAPPHIRE's upcoming Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 graphics cards, led by the SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 Platinum Edition. Sapphire's take on it looks like AMD's reference card, and that's not a bad thing - but the price will be what gamers will jump at - with a rumored price of just $179 USD.
SAPPHIRE's Radeon RX 470 Platinum Edition PCB features a 4+1-phase design, whereas the Radeon RX 480 had a 6+1-phase design. One single 6-pin power connector is required, keeping PSU requirements nice and low.

Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell in the reboot origin story for one of Hollywood's most enduring monster myths.

7-Eleven makes its first drone delivery, with a Slurpee
7-Eleven has just delivered its first package of goods with a drone, in the first FAA-approved drone delivery taking place in Reno, Nevada earlier this month.
On July 11, Flirtey flew an autonomous drone a mile from a 7-Eleven to a private home in Reno, with the delivery including a chicken sandwich, donuts, coffee, candy, and Slurpees - awesome, huh? The goods were packaged into two containers, which were flown separately. When they arrived, each contained was lowered to the ground by the drone, and then the homeowners grabbed the goods.
The drone flew autonomously to the Reno home, using the on-board GPS to navigate. Flirtey chose a store to delivery from, surveying consumers within a one-mile radius to see if they wanted to be part of the initial drone delivery program.

James Cameron talks 'The Abyss' 4K Blu-ray remaster
With Hollywood turning their attentions to the new 4K UltraHD Blu-ray format, fans are still clamouring for the dozens of mainstream titles that still haven't been issued on 1080p Blu-ray, including two huge blockbusters from James Cameron - the Schwarzenegger actioner 'True Lies' and the 1989 sci-fi classic 'The Abyss'. Today, the director has given a brief update on the whereabouts of the latter title.
Cameron told Variety "We've done a wet-gate 4K scan of the original negative, and it's going to look insanely good... We're going to do an authoring pass in the DI for Blu-ray and HDR at the same time", with the diretcor confirming the discs should be available to purchase early next year.
Cameron is currently deep in pre-production for a further three 'Avatar' films, the first of which is due to be released for Christmas 2018, while a 3D remastered version of 'Terminator 2' is due to to hit cinemas later this year.

AMC reveals The Walking Dead season 7 trailer at SDCC
AMC debuted the trailer for the 7th season of The Walking Dead during San Diego Comic-Con, and boy does it look good.
The Walking Dead S7 will see the introduction of King Ezekiel, who is played by Khary Payton - with most of the trailer focusing on the scary new character, Negan. Negan is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan of everything fame - for me, he was the father of the Winchester's in Supernatural.
In the S6 finale, Negan killed someone with his handy weapon and companion, but we don't know who - as it was done in not-so-traditional The Walking Dead fashion. The reveal of who died in the S6 finale will be revealed in the S7 premiere, according to Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the show. Lincoln said during The Walking Dead panel at SDCC: "It's a really shitty start to the season".

No Man's Sky doesn't use patented Superformula, says dev
No Man's Sky creator and Hello Games lead developer Sean Murray has officially responded to Genicap's patent infringement claims, affirming that the near-infinite space sim doesn't use the patented Gielis Superformula and even calls the issue a "non-story."
"No Man's Sky doesn't actually use this 'superformula' thing or infringe a patent. This is a non-story... everybody chill," Murray said in a recent Tweet. Murray goes on to say that he will personally meet with Johan Gielis, the Superformula's creator, and discuss "maths" once the game is out. So it sounds like Hello Games won't have to delay No Man's Sky nor settle yet another costly court case after all.
As per our original report, Dutch company Genicap has accused Hello Games of patent infringement. Genicap claims that the studio uses its patented Gielis Superformula to create No Man's Sky's massive procedurally-generated universe without authorization. Genicap typically issues out licenses for clients to use its Superformula technology, and Hello Games isn't officially licensed. Now Sean Murray says that the game doesn't actually use the Gielis Superformula, but his recent words seem to clash with a New Yorker interview.

Blair Witch sequel announced, hits theaters on September 16
I still remember The Blair Witch Project, watching it when I was a teenager in the world of Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and all of the rebirth of horror movies at the time - but it was The Blair Witch Project that had a profound effect on me. It is the movie that started viral marketing, and it worked incredibly well - just not so much for its sequel.
Well, the Blair Witch is coming back with a sequel to the original, and not the mess that was Book of Shadows. Lionsgate commited to the new Blair Witch early, marketing the movie as 'The Woods' so that people wouldn't know it was Blair Witch, and whether they would see if it was after watching the movie. Once the screenings began, it was hard to keep that secret.
Blair Witch uses "advances in camera technology and selfie culture, there are many more cameras involved than the three angles Heather, Josh and Mike offered. There's plenty of coverage, and more fun to be had with body cameras", reports Slashfilm.

Project Sonic announced for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo NX
SEGA has released a teaser for Project Sonic at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, during SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary Party - and before we go any further, can you believe Sonic is 25 years old? Sheesh.
Project Sonic was announced during the anniversary event in Tokyo last month, and for now, it's called Project Sonic. The teaser trailer doesn't provide much in the way of what to expect, except for some destruction and Sonic meeting a familiar face that looks to help him out.
I'm hoping that there's some cooperative play in Project Sonic, which would be a nice change and a throwback to the days of having other characters in the game that were useful to you - Tails, and Knuckles, anyone?

AMD to have a massive volume launch of next-gen Zen CPUs in early 2017
AMD is set to get back into the CPU game in a big way with its next generation Zen architecture, which will be arriving to consumers in early 2017 - but reports have surfaced stating that an early run of Zen CPUs will hit later this year. We've already reported on the 32-core server variants of Zen, with the consumer CPUs hitting 4- and 8-core CPU markets.
During AMD's recent earnings call, company CEO Lisa Su said: "We have been very focused on the server launch for first half of 2017. Desktop should launch before that. In terms of true volume ability, I believe it will be in the first quarter of 2017. We may ship some limited volume towards the end of the fourth quarter, based on how bring up goes and the customer readiness".
Su said that AMD should have a limited run of Zen processors for their partners to use in testing in order to prepare for the desktop launch of the Zen-powered CPUs. The limited shipment should kick off in Q4 2016 (so, not long now) with the consumer launch in early 2017 aimed at high-end desktops and enthusiasts - where AMD has been losing to Intel for a number of years now.
