Shovel Knight sells 370,000 units on the Nintendo Switch
Yacht Club Games took to Twitter yesterday to announce that their title Shovel Knight has reached a milestone of 2 million copies sold. Digging into the data that the developer supplied us with on the post it is revealed that 370,000 of those units were on the Nintendo Switch.
From the below pie graph we can see that Shovel Knight sold the most on Windows, then the Nintendo 3DS and finally the Nintendo Switch. Yacht Club Games says "What stands out at first is that Switch has emerged as Shovel Knight's 3rd best selling platform- with only a single year of sales under its belt. We've sold about 370k units on Switch! Windows has our highest unit sales, but keep in mind we also have the most discounts on that platform."
Yacht Club Games continues to give a great breakdown of their sales data, they compile together some dot point facts for those that don't have enough time to read through their entire post. Some of these facts include: Perhaps the best indicator of how our sales are progressing from year to year - our rough Windows units sold each year: 170k (2014)->140k (2015) -> 100k (2016) -> 75k (2017)." As well as "We passed 1 million units sold on Nintendo platforms alone in September 2017!", this also ties into "Outside of Nintendo platforms, our sales dipped by about 30% in 2017."

Drake reveals possible Fortnite 'lingo' in his new album
Not to long ago we saw Drake jump onto Fortnite with the highly popular streamer Ninja, yesterday the same thing happened and throughout the stream Drake revealed we could see some Fortnite lingo in his new album.
Drake and Ninja took to the Fortnite stage to cause some chaos, and throughout the stream Tyler "Ninja" Blevins said to Drake "Dude, you gotta put some Fortnite lingo on the album." Drake replys with "It has to happen, it's just gotta be the right way, someone's gonna do it. Someone's gonna pull it off. I say when Epic gives me the emote, when Epic gives me the Hotline Bling emote, I'll do it. Until then, I'm on strike. "
For those that don't know the reference to a 'Hotline Bling emote' is from Drakes immensely popular song 'Hotline Bling.' The song features some quite unique dances moves from the rapper which would definitely be a great addition to the Fortnite emotes. Check out the below videos to see Drake put on some good moves and also Ninja and Drake chat about his upcoming album.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead showcases an amazing cinematic
Not to long ago we saw a developer diary for OVERKILL's The Walking Dead, now a new trailer has been released by Starbreeze Studios showcasing an awesome cinematic trailer for Maya.
OVERKILL's The Walking Dead will feature 4 playable characters, in this trailer we can see that we are getting an introduction to Maya, the doctor. FTC: don't worry about 'warranty-void-if-removed' stickers
We have all experienced those pesky 'warranty void if removed' stickers on our devices, but it looks like those stickers don't really matter... with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) saying they're worthless.
Motherboard reports from an FTC press release, that the Commission has sent letters to six companies that said that their stickers are in violation of a long standing law. The press release said: "The letters warn that FTC staff has concerns about the companies' statements that consumers must use specified parts or service providers to keep their warranties intact".
It continued: "Unless warrantors provide the parts or services for free or receive a waiver from the FTC, such statements generally are prohibited by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a law that governs consumer product warranties. Similarly, such statements may be deceptive under the FTC Act".

Detroit: Become Human's new video will make you buy a PS4
Quantic Dream is one of my favorite game developers, as they try to push the boundaries of what the cinematic gaming experience should be, and bit by bit they've been unveiling their next game... Detroit: Become Human.
IGN has one of their IGN First videos that is between Quantic Dream, talking about Detroit and its push into being in a world of its own when it comes to cinematic gaming experiences. There are near unlimited choices in the game, with Detroit moving past the usual "left path or right path" that traditional games give you.
Quantic Dream boss and Heavy Rain and Detroit mastermind David Cage explains: "Depending on how you play, there are entire scenes you can see or miss. There are characters that can be with you for just one scene or until the very end of the game. In Detroit, all the three player characters can die at different points in the story, so you really have to be careful and think about your choices, and really care for them, because you might lose them. It's always surprising to see the permutations [when people play Detroit] - how did you get this? How did you do that? It's a real nightmare for the QA teams to be honest with you".

New ransomware locks your files until you play Battlegrounds
It was only yesterday I wrote news about Dell promoting cheats and hacks for Battlegrounds, but now there's new ransomware that holds your files hostage until... you play Battlegrounds. Yeah, you read that right.
A team of people on Twitter that call themselves the MalwareHunterTeam posted about the new ransomware, saying that instead of forcing you to pay to unlock your now-locked data, the new "PUBG Ransomware" wants you to play Battlegrounds for an hour, then your data is unlocked.
You could also do something else ot get your files back, where after the ransomware is finished encrypting all of your files with the .PUBG extension, all you need is the restore code. This is provided in the window of the program itself, where you need to simply type in "s2acxx56a2sae5fjh5k2gb5s2e", click Restore, and you're back to normal... without having to play PUBG.

Radeon marketing boss Chris Hook leaves AMD
AMD is losing key staff left, right and center, but one of the best guys in the industry is now gone from Team Red: Chris Hook. Hook joins major talent like Raja Koduri that have abandoned the what seems to be sinking ship that is Radeon.
Hook took to his Facebook page to announce the news, but had briefed some of the press before hand. I have been in contact with Chris for years now, he is a good friend of mine and it is sad to see him depart AMD, but I believe he will be landing on his feet very soon with some exciting news to share.
On his FB post, Hook said:

AMD rebranded Radeon RX 500X cards: identical to 500 series
TweakTown was the world exclusive with news that AMD was preparing a rebranded Radeon RX 500X series, and here we are: a full confirmation that AMD has simply rebranded the RX 500 series, with the 'new' RX 500X series.
AMD is simply rebranding their entire lineup of Polaris-based RX 500 series cards, the same cards that they released last year that were tweaked RX 400 offerings. The RX 500X series the same RX 500 series cards that AMD will now be giving to system builders, OEMs, and mobile platforms. AMD is simply refreshing the brand for OEMs and notebooks.
The deal here with the rebranded Radeon RX 500X series is that AMD is ensuring that the RX 500X series cards are using the latest hardware and driver revisions for Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition for 2018. It might not be a big deal to gamers because this isn't a new card, but this means a lot to OEMs selling Radeon.

Intel working on gaming graphics card, wants to kill NVIDIA
I had an interesting conversation with someone a couple of days ago regarding the future of Intel, AMD, NVIDIA and the future of GPU technology going into the 2020s.
What was confirmed on that phone call was that Intel is serious about entering the gaming graphics card market, something the company confirmed in February. More so since Raja Koduri left AMD to get inside Intel (pun intended), as well as a few other key staff and news coming in the next few months. We're in for a big ride.
My sources have said that Raja is "building a great team", that Intel wants to take big bold risks by thinking big and courageous. Raja and Intel want to drive these people hard and that they're 100% in it, with Raja wanting to bring people in to win with Intel now that he's outside of the downward spiral with AMD and their non-direction-no-action-at-all with Radeon.

Winklevoss twins continue their crypto empire
While Mark Zuckerberg sits on his booster seat at a Senate hearing, the Winklevoss twins are continuing with their crypto empire. This week they have announced that their Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini will launch Gemini Block Trading. Block trading is a feature which allows high volume trades to exist outside of Gemini's continuous order books and will only appear once the trade is complete. This helps lessen the impact on the market price for such large buy or sell orders. For example, if someone holds a large amount of bitcoin and would like to sell it without affecting the market price they would use a block trade and the trade would only appear once it is complete. The minimum trade quantity for a Gemini Block Trade is 10 BTC and 100 ETH.
This is fantastic news and helps preserve the ecosystem. The Winklevoss Twins are longtime advocates of crypto and have been doing their best to help the space progress for many years now. They also mentioned to Bloomberg that they are hoping to add more tokens to their exchange. Currently, they only have bitcoin and ethereum. Obvious candidates for expansion "are from the Satoshi Nakamoto family tree -- Bitcoin cash, Litecoin," Tyler Winklevoss said.

Is Facebook's time over? Will a competitor step up?
The world is sick of centralised entities taking advantage of our trust and complacency. Facebook is imploding, now the Centre For Digital Democracy has requested for the FTC to investigate Google's YouTube for the illegal collection of personal data from children. Centralised giants are being ousted one after the other. Snapchat, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter, and even Reddit are all guilty of selling and/or suppressing information.
This is not the first time social media users have called for decentralised alternatives. Two years ago a blog on Steemit, a decentralised blogging and social media website that launched in July 2016, reported there were 5 up and coming decentralised social media platforms. None of them are yet to catch fire.
We had no reason to leave MySpace, it was amazing until Facebook came along and as much as social media users are pained by their personal data being sold and even manipulating their consumption of information, they have not been given an alternative.

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion footage leaked
Cartoon Networks release of Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion was mentioned last year as the title was going to be an open world-RPG that would be released early this year. Pre-alpha footage has been leaked suggesting the title is still in its infant stages.
The video has been uploaded to TheStephanFS YouTube channel and according to the description in the video the footage has been leaked by Amazon France. From the four and a half minute clip we can see that the game is still quite bare and while Fin is running around the world that is presented to us it doesn't really showcase lively content. This worries me as a hardcore Adventure Time fan waiting for this game, as I've always wanted to jump into a open-world RPG game based in Ooo as the lively randomness is something I definitely want to experience.
Even though in the footage we don't see that 'living world of Ooo' that is presented to us in the T.V show we do have to take into account that this is pre-alpha footage, essentially the bare bones of the game. Adventure Time is unfortunately coming to an end which makes me think that Cartoon Network will be going all out for their last chance at an awesome Adventure Time game. To me the world of Ooo and the stories behind each of the characters is just to much to pass up, right now the title seems a bit disappointing but that doesn't mean that it can't turn into something every Adventure Time fans wants to play.

Dell markets 8th-gen Core CPUs with hacks for Battlegrounds
I don't even know how to start this news off, so let's just get right into it - Dell has no idea what they're doing in China, with the company bragging about gamers using hacks in Battlegrounds... if they buy their new laptops.
David Hollingworth from PCPP reports that his colleague Ben Mansill was in Beijing last week for Intel's "big reveal" of its new 8th generation Core processors. Dell was on-hand, amongst other laptop and PC makers to show off their new 8th-gen Core-based offerings. Hollingworth reports that Dell "was a big part of the dog and pony show, and a big part of the company's spiel was how many more 'plug-ins' you could run".
What are plug-ins? Well, they're cheats, and this is something Dell spokesperson Sally Zhang drove home, wanting gamers to win more chicken dinners with Dell's new 8th-gen Core-based PCs and notebooks.
