Gran Turismo franchise has sold over 80 million copies
Gran Turismo has cemented itself in history with the franchise selling over 80 million copies over the last 20 years, something that includes the 7 main releases, as well as the "Prologue" and "Online" versions, the 2006 HD remake, and the 2009 release on the Sony PSP.
Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said: "It's hard to imagine that 80.4 million copies of Gran Turismo have been played during the 20-year history of the franchise. It makes me really happy to think of the immense amount of time that has been poured into playing our games! We would like to continue our efforts in achieving the best possible expression and creation of cars and scenery, as well as bringing the highest level of excitement and fun through racing in the years to come".
The only other racing franchise that has beaten Gran Turismo is Mario Kart, which has been cranking out game after game since 1992. This is the same year that Yamauchi began his work on the infamous GT series, too.

Black Ops 4 on PC exclusive to Battle.net
If you want to play Black Ops 4 digitally on PC you'll have to buy it right from Activision.
Following the big Black Ops 4 reveal, Activision today confirmed the new shooter will be exclusive to Blizzard's Battle.net platform on PC. "Black Ops 4 for the PC delivers a fully-optimized experience, which for the first time in Call of Duty's history will be available exclusively on Battle.net, Blizzard Entertainment's online gaming service," the publisher said in a press release.
The PC flavor is being co-developed by Beenox and will feature a number of optimizations that gamers expect including dedicated servers, uncapped frame rate, 4K support, HDR, ultra-wide monitor support and a "great scalability options" on PC. Battle.net integration means players can interact with existing friends on the platform, and will provide Activision a boon of wholly-recouped sales as well as stronger social engagement via the platform. Given publishers have to pay Valve a cut for every game sold on Steam, major games-makers are pushing towards their own storefronts a la Ubisoft with uPlay or EA with Origin (and of course Activision-Blizzard with Battle.net). This will likely be the norm for key Activision games moving forward.

Black Ops 4 won't have campaign, battle royale confirmed
This year's Call of Duty game will exclusively be a live service game without any sort of campaign mode, but it'll have a huge array of multiplayer content.
Although Black Ops 4 technically won't have a singleplayer campaign mode, Treyarch still asserts the game will tell a story. These stories will be told through multiple game modes such as Blops 4's zombies gametype, which sees campaign and co-op merged together as a "narrative-driven" experience. And zombies actually has interdimensional travel for some reason--the "IX" gametype even has you playing as gladiators against the undead in an ancient Roman colosseum (now I'm not joking). "Black Ops 4 marks the beginning of a brand new storyline. Separate and distinct, a new world with new characters and enemies. Drawing from history both real and mythical," the dev said on stage during the game's reveal.
The real crux of Black Ops 4 is Activision's most lucrative billion-dollar strategy: engagement. The game has been built from the ground up to keep players gaming online with their friends for months and months thanks to its smattering of modes, which of course taps the industry's massively popular battle royale. In very many ways Black Ops 4 looks like a mish-mash circus of online gametypes and experimental live-driven content and less like the more rigid and serious experiences the series can deliver.

The Lord of The Rings TV show rumored focus on Young Aragorn
The Lord of The Rings TV show by Amazon has recently come back into the news, the spotlight is featured on a new rumor for the shows setting in the Tolkien timeline. It is possible we could see the TV show focusing on a Young Aragorn and the origins of the Dunedain.
The rumors have surfaced from a fansite called The One Ring, the site has claimed that they have confirmed from multiple sources that Amazons highly anticipated show will be "centered on a young Aragorn." This may not be 100% true as there has been no official confirmation from Amazon as of yet, but for the sake of the rumor and to indulge in the possibility of this being true it would not be a bad choice at all.
If the TV show did center itself around Young Aragorn that would mean the origins of the character would be revealed, allowing for a connection to the Numenoreans and the Dunedain to be established, this would also include the founding of Gondor and the northern kingdom of Arnor. More interesting though, if the Dunedain path is taken we could see the villain for the first couple of seasons being the Witch-king of Angmar. From the perspective of the shows audience, Amazon would also be bringing forth a very familiar character to take the main stage, making it easier for fans that are not so die hard to begin the new story off on a character they have already seen before.

F.E.A.R. live-action movie coming with new Machinima deal
F.E.A.R. was one of the most hyped games in the years leading up to and its release in 2005, and now the horror FPS mixed with epic slow-mo is coming to the big screen.
Machinima has a new development deal with the screenwriter behind the recent Mortal Kombat movies with New Line Cinema, and Resident Evil movies with Screen Gems, with Greg Russo joining the fold. Russo's first project will be a movie adaption of F.E.A.R. A game where you played a person in a special forces team that hunted down supernatural phenomenon, which manifested itself into a little girl. It was freaky, and awesome at the time, especially with its slow-mo action.

Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best-selling games of all time, with Take-Two announcing during their earnings call that over 95 million copies shipped so far... ever so close to 100 million.
During the earnings call, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick discussed why he thinks GTA V has been so successful, he said: "I think what Rockstar Games has uniquely shown the ability to do is to make the title easy to approach and difficult to master".
He then added: "You can approach Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online in any number of ways. If you're a hardcore gamer, you can find it super compelling. If you're somewhat more casual, you can find the experience super compelling. Apple sues Samsung for $1 billion in design patent violation
Apple and Samsung are in court again over the damages retrial, where we'll see how much Samsung will have to cough up to Apple on infringing Apple design patents.
The South Korean giant was found guilty of violating Apple patents in 2012, but the companies have been fighting over how much money Samsung will have to pay over the last six years. The big deal here is going to be over Samsung paying damages for the total value of the device, or whether it's going to be a fee base on the parts of the iPhone that they reportedly copied.
Apple wants to see Samsung pay based on the full value of the iPhone, while of course Samsung wants to pay the smaller amount based on the bits they copied. Samsung lawyer John Quinn states: "They're seeking profits on the entire phone. Apple's design patents do not cover the entire phone. They are entitled to profits only on [infringing] components, not the entire phone".

Take-Two: PC has become very important part of what we do
Thanks to its strong emphasis on digital game sales, the PC platform is an important part of Take-Two's business...but console still reigns supreme.
As more and more publishers focus on recurrent consumer spending and long-term revenues via online-based games and fully recouping sales via wholly-owned storefronts like Origin and uPlay, digital is becoming increasingly important to the games industry. Now that PC has mostly moved towards online stores like Steam, it's fair to say the platform aligns with these trends quite well. In the company's recent fiscal year earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recognized PC as a major component for the industry as a whole--especially since digital made up 63% of its total net revenues for the year.
When asked about the future of console gens and how they may affect Take-Two's games and future plans, Mr. Zelnick discussed how PC, a platform that continually evolves thanks to consistent hardware upgrades, is paving the way for the company's business. "I would observe that the PC platform has become a very very important part of what we do, driven by digital distribution. And that was not the case for so-called console titles 10 years ago, and it is the case now," he said.

Borderlands 3 likely delayed to next fiscal year
Today Take-Two Interactive confirmed the publisher's big new 2K Games title has been delayed, and we're pretty sure it's Borderlands 3.
Up until this quarterly earnings call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has teased that Fiscal Year 2019 would deliver record revenues thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2 and a "highly anticipated new title from one of 2K's biggest franchises." Now Mr. Zelnick says this game, which is almost certainly Borderlands 3, has been delayed to Fiscal Year 2020 so it can be polished, meaning it could launch anywhere from April 1, 2019 through March 31, 2020.
"The highly-anticipated title from one of 2K's biggest franchises, which had been planned for release during the current fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time. We remain as excited as ever about this title, and expect it to enhance our results next fiscal year," the Take-Two CEO said.

Battlefield V confirmed, reveal coming this month
On the heels of multiple rumors, EA and DICE have announced Battlefield V's existence...but official details are still sparse.
Battlefield V is one of the many games that will see a pre-E3 reveal this year. EA today confirmed Battlefield V will be the next game in the series and assured gamers that "Battlefield will never be the same." A full stream showcasing the game's mechanics, setting, and content will go live on Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer next Wednesday, May 23 at 4PM EST.
While sources say Battlefield V will take place in World War II, it'd be interesting if the "V" stood for "Vietnam." But given the leaked images came from the same sources as the WWII info this is probably not the case.

Snapshot Games delays Phoenix Point until June 2019
Julian Gollop, designer behind XCOM has announced that his studio Snapshot Games will need more time to work on Phoenix Point, and sadly this will mean the games release date will have to be pushed back until June 2019.
According to the unlisted video that was released to Phoenix Point's YouTube Channel, Gollop wants to concentrate on the expansion of the development team and "maintain our focus on quality." Gollop explains that the markets expectations have changed and that gamers today want much more from a game, this ties into how "Phoenix Point has become a bigger game. In order to realise this potential we need to push back the target release date to June 2019."
Gollop owns up to the progress of his title being quite slower than he initially wanted, here is his honest opinion on the matter "To be honest, this has been a slower process than I wanted, but I felt that we needed the best talent that we could find. I am glad to say that we now have 35 great developers in our Sofia studio, and as a consequence of our recent, excellent exposure we are attracting offers of help from game developers around the world."

Snapchat infects self with short video ads users CAN'T skip
Snapchat users have been hit with a new advertising service that has already been rolled out, now users are forced into watching a short video advertisement that cannot be skipped.
Since the apps creation in 2014, video advertisement has always been a skip-able option for users. Even though this forced advertisement is only going to be apart of the professionally produced media partners, for users that enjoy watching this specific section of Snapchat will now be subjected to forced advertisment that was originally an option. Users will now have to get used to 6 seconds of ads that will contain anything from Samsung Galaxy S9 to new movies coming out such as Deadpool 2.
This decision from Snapchat is so that brands have a guaranteed amount of seconds viewed on their ads that they have paid for. According to AdAge, Snapchat had quite a lot of pressure from outside brands that were complaining about their ads not getting enough viewer time. AdAge also says that according to some top Snapchat advertisers, most ads only had 2 second viewer time before users would skip and move onto a new video.

Cliff Bleszinski releases concept art for unreleased games
Yesterday we saw that the Cliff Bleszinski's company Boss Key Productions has sadly had to close its doors after the failure of LawBreakers and Radical Heights. As promised in the statement Bleszinski gave yesterday, he has provided fans with a slew of concept art from games that are unreleased.
Starting off Bleszinski's Twitter storm, he reveals a concept art from a title called Dragonflies, Bleszinski describes the title as "Basically you were ninja/samurai in airships riding dragons fighting zombies with friends in a PVE "feudalpunk" setting on floating islands. (the airships = your "aircraft carriers", the dragons = your "planes.")" This idea is quite unique and from the art pieces we can see the idea could of looked incredible if it was brought to life.
The next art piece we have has been titled as DogWalkers, the idea behind this game would have been the players would join in on a multiplayer VR experience inside of a massive mech. What is interesting though, and most likely would of been the staple aspect of this game if it was developed, is that each player controls their own respective part of the mech, requiring teamwork to execute battles effectively.
