Age of Empires IV gameplay revealed, was the long wait worth it?
As we expected, Microsoft took to the stage during the annual XO19 event this year and revealed official gameplay for Age of Empires IV.
Above, we have the gameplay trailer that has been released onto the official Xbox YouTube Channel. From the video, we are introduced to a moderately sized city, and at first glance, we can certainly see there have been massive graphical upgrades to buildings, units, vegetation, and lighting when comparing to Age of Empires III.
It can also be noticed that units are walking on top of walls, much like in the Stronghold games, this is the first time Age of Empires has done this. Other cool aspects that can be noticed are: buildings can be destroyed and crumble like in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, units can have battle cry (probably depends on civilization), and when some buildings crumble they leave fire on the ground. Since this is only a minute worth of gameplay, there really isn't much to go off of, but so far Age of Empires IV looks incredible.

HDMI cable with RGB lighting for up to $200, because why not?
The rest of our PC components and peripherals have RGB lighting, with one of the last pieces of the RGB puzzle being our display connectivity in DisplayPort and HDMI cables with RGB lighting... until now.
Vivify has announced their new HDMI cable with RGB lighting, with two lengths available -- a 9-foot cable for $80 (discounted from $150), or a longer 15-foot cable for $100 (discounted from $200). Vivify's new Arquus W73 (because people are going to call it that) is a 4K "gaming" HDMI RGB cable, with 7 different colors and a cycle mode to boot.
Vivify's new RGB laden HDMI cable isn't just an HDMI cable + RGB lighting -- the company adds that it has used high-quality fiber optics with the new Arquus W73 cable that allows for longer cables over passive copper HDMI cables. Traditional copper cables use electricity to transmit signals, versus fiber optic cables using lasers. Light (and thus, lasers) move much faster than electricity as well, on top of not being affected by electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI) like traditional copper-based HDMI cables.

Analyst: NVIDIA to launch next-gen 7nm GPU in the next 9 months
We've been hearing more and more about NVIDIA's new Ampere GPU architecture, and now we're seeing an industry analyst come out and say that they expect NVIDIA ot launch a "litany of upcoming 7nm" launches in the "next nine months".
Given the naming system of the current Turing-based GeForce RTX cards, we should expect NVIDIA to call the new Ampere-based GPUs on the 7nm node the GeForce RTX 3000 series. This means we'll see a flagship GeForce RTX 3080 Ti that should utterly destroy the current flagship RTX 2080 Ti, and a new Ampere-powered GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 fashion as the Turing launch in 2018.
Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Christopher Rolland said on Tuesday: "We think NVIDIA faces the most reasonable Street expectations in quite some time, with potential tailwinds from improving DC [data center], Switch [Nintendo console], and high GPU [graphics processing unit] attach rates (laptops/desktops), all in front of a litany of upcoming 7nm [nanometer] launches over the next nine months".

Microsoft: Xbox Scarlett will kick PlayStation 5's ass in perf/price
The fight for console dominance is going to really kick off in 2020, as Microsoft doesn't want to behind in any sense of the word with the new generation of consoles. Microsoft plans to use its Xbox Scarlett to well and truly kick some Sony ass with its right-now-way-more-hyped PlayStation 5 console.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently talked with The Verge, where he talked about Project Scarlett and said: "I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price. If you remember the beginning of this generation we were a hundred dollars more expensive and, yes, we were less powerful. And we started Project Scarlett with this leadership team in place with a goal of having market success".
Spencer continued, saying that Microsoft had talked internally about whether they would do another generation of consoles "years ago". He added that he personally thinks there will be more generations of consoles post-Scarlett, saying: "We're all-in on Project Scarlett and I want to compete, and I want to compete in the right ways which is why we're focused on cross-play and backward compatibility".

NASA: oxygen is being created and used on Mars and they don't know why
NASA has admitted that it is "struggling to explain" why oxygen is being created, and then consumed on Mars. The US space agency has been left scratching their collective heads since.
The reason behind this is that NASA's own Curiosity rover that is chilling on the Red Planet has returned some rather interesting data back to our Pale Blue Dot, showing that elevated methane levels were recorded, and NASA can't explain why. There have been tests conducted and completed to try and work out why these levels were so high, but NASA doesn't know why.
NASA's Curiosity rover "breathes" in the air on Mars, analyzes it and tells NASA what types of gasses are detected. But something interesting was discovered -- here on Earth the background levels of certain gasses will increase and decrease as the seasons change, and something similar is happening on Mars.

Don't worry, Obsidian has new RPGs in the works
Obsidian Entertainment isn't giving up on RPGs--there's still more projects in the works.
Today Obsidian announced a new IP called Grounded, and it's a huge departure from the sprawling RPGs like Pillars of Eternity or The Outer Worlds. Obsidian's first project under Microsoft's ownership isn't a fantasy of sci-fi epic, but an online multiplayer survival game set in a whimsical Honey I Shrunk the Kids universe. Fans were a bit confused by the reveal; where was The Outer Worlds 2, or the next big RPG to save the Xbox brand?
Those games are still in development. Obsidian's Josh Sawyer confirms the studio has multiple projects in development at the same time. Grounded is a passion project made by just one of Obsidian's dev teams. RPGs are still very much a part of the developer's DNA, and new adventures are currently in the works.

Project xCloud PC game streaming coming in 2020
Microsoft has been embracing PC in a big way, complete with Xbox Game Pass integration and simultaneous game launches on the platform. But Project xCloud is coming to PC too, and aims to essentially do what Stadia does for Chome browsers.
In 2020, Project xCloud will stream games to PCs, solidifying Microsoft's strong synergy of hardware and services. "We've heard your feedback loud and clear. You want more ways to play. We are delighted to announce that in 2020 we will bring Project xCloud to Windows 10 PCs," said Catherine Gluckstein, GM of product engineering and strategy at Project xCloud.
And there's a potential tease for Project xCloud coming to competing devices, too. Maybe Nintendo Switch? "And of course we won't stop there. We're working with lots of partners to bring Project xCloud to every device you want to play."

Obsidian's new IP is basically Honey I Shrunk The Kids: The Game
Obsidian's first game under Microsoft's leadership isn't a big new RPG. It's an online-oriented social survival simulator inspired by Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
Today at XO19 in London, England, Obsidian revealed a brand new IP. It's called Grounded, and it's basically a wacky mashup with platforming aspects, exploration mechanics, and first-person survival elements. There's even some Minecraft thrown in there too.
You play as a kid who's been shrunk down to the size of an ant who's trapped in a backyard, and to survive you have to team up with friends to hunt insects like ferocious ants, build communities, and scavenge the land--all while crafting your own settlements and weapons. It's kind of like the Sea of Thieves set in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids universe.

Rare announces new IP called Everwild
Rare showcased a brand new IP at the Inside Xbox festival in London.
Rare's new IP is called Everwild, and it looks a lot like Journey's enchanting art style set in a 3D open world. It's nature-based and may feature four-player co-op, but exact details have yet to be announced. The game may be focused on connecting with animals around you while surviving in an alien wilderness, and definitely has an indie look and feel to it.
"We are passionate about creating something special and truly original. I'm excited to share with you a glimpse of the new IP from RARE," said Louise O'Connor, executive producer at Rare.

Netflix has officially greenlighted The Witcher TV show season two
The first season of The Witcher TV show hasn't even released yet, and we already hearing about how there is going to be a second season.
The news comes from the series' showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich who announced on her personal Twitter that Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri "will be back for more adventures... in Season Two". The Tweet also came with a new image we haven't seen before, it features two swords next each other. To speculate a bit here, could one of these swords be the iron sword and the other be a silver sword? The same set up that Witchers carry?
If you have been following the Witcher news this announcement shouldn't really be that surprising for you as the hype for season one of the show hasn't slowed down since its announcement. Judging from what we have seen of the show so far, and how in particular Henry Cavil is playing Geralt, season two should be extremely welcomed. The only thing to worry about is if season one lives up to the hype following it, my bet is that it will, paving the way for a follow up season.

Apple users can now do their shopping with their voice, just ask Siri
The days of gathering the family around a pen-and-paper shopping list could be over as Apple users can now use their voice to fill their Walmart shopping cart.
The new feature is called Walmart Voice Order, and it's now available in the company's Grocery App for iOS. This means that Siri can listen to users' requests for products, and they will automatically be placed in Walmart's shopping cart, removing the necessity of touch.
Users can follow this voice process; "Hey Siri, add to Walmart" then list out the items you want to be placed into the cart and boom; they should be ready to order. It should also be noted that Apple users can tell Siri on a range of different devices such as an iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod, or in a CarPlay-enabled vehicle. Due to Walmart being a direct competitor with Amazon, it can be assumed that Walmart won't be adding this feature for Alexa devices now or anytime soon.

Scientists create sci-fi 3D holograms that you can see, feel and hear
Scientists out of Britain have managed to create realistic 3D holograms that can be seen with the naked eye, heard and even felt.
A team of scientists working at the University of Sussex in southern England has managed to use technology to create a prototype called Multimodal Acoustic Trap Display (MATD). This prototype has the ability of "simultaneously deliver visual, auditory and tactile content". This is done through using sound waves or "acoustophoresis" that move and manipulate particles to form an image.
The team spoke out about how they achieved this, saying "Our system traps a particle acoustically and illuminates it with red, green and blue light to control its color as it quickly scans the display volume." Due to the system being developed with sound waves, it allows the hologram to not only be seen but also heard and felt.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition pre-load is live & launch times
The long wait for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is almost over, and ahead of the title's launch, we have been given the option to pre-load the game.

NASA side-step big Nazi controversy by renaming Kuiper Belt object
The Kuiper Belt object located deep in our solar system has had its named changed from MU69 Ultima Thule, to Arrokoth.
Why have NASA decided to make the name change? Well, 'Ultima Thule' means "farthest place", but it also has the same term that white supremacists and Nazi's in particular used to refer to a mythical homeland. The 'Thule Society' was a German occultist group founded in Munich right after World War I.
The society was also heavily recognised by Adolf Hitler, and as you can imagine many people that knew these facts didn't think that NASA's name for the object fit. So in an effort to side-step the controversy, NASA decided to rename the object from 'Ultima Thule' to 'Arrokoth'. This new name is derived from Powhatan/Algonquian language and it means 'sky'. Above is a video of Dr. Phoebe Farris of the Powhatan-Pamunkey Tribe officially renaming the Kuiper Belt object.

Disney Plus has already raked in an astonishing 10 million subscribers
We all knew the launch of Disney Plus was going to shake up the streaming market, but by how much exactly? 10 million individual shakes, according to Disney's recent announcement on Wednesday.
Disney Plus launched this past Tuesday, and the company has taken the streaming wars by the horns by already pulling in 10 million subscribers. For comparison on how much that exactly is, the Disney-owned Hulu has more than 28 million subscribers as of May this year. Another comparison is Netflix, who has 97 million subscribers internationally, as of the third quarter of 2019.
The reason for the massive influx of subscribers to Disney Plus is due to it being not only significantly cheaper than the other streaming services at $6.99 a month, but it also offers a gigantic library of content that attracts not only children but adults. With Disney moving this many paying subscribers within just the first couple of days of being live, other streaming services such as Netflix are going to be shaking in their boots at what the future holds for them.

Netflix and Nickelodeon tag-team content to take on Disney+ giant
Disney+ just released and Netflix is already making some knee jerk reactions by signing a multi-year deal with none other than Nickelodeon.
Netflix and Nickelodeon have just announced a new multi-year deal that will feature original animated content based on some of the Nickelodeon's library of shows. According to The New York Times, Nickelodeon will produce animated films and series' on both new and existing Nickelodeon characters. NYT also reports that there has been not details shared with the public on what specific characters will be coming or how many years the deal is signed for.
This deal is clearly a tag-team effort to combat Disney Plus which has already amassed 10 million subscribers since its launch on Tuesday. Since Disney are pulling their large library of content from other streaming platforms, Netflix and other streaming services need to compensate for the loss and start production on both new and old shows. In this regard, the deal between Netflix and Nickelodeon makes sense, and I would expect other streaming services to breathe life back into some classic old shows.
