CD Projekt RED devs working 100 hour work weeks on Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt RED developers are working hard 100-hour work weeks to finish Cyberpunk 2077, the studio's biggest and most ambitious game to date.
Cyberpunk 2077 was recently delayed twice--first to November 19, and just today it was pushed back to December 10. This extra 21-day period will prolong the reported studio-wide crunch that demands employees work 7 day workweeks. Finishing up Cyberpunk 2077 is taking a heavy toll on CDPR's workers, who are now working overtime hours from home due to coronavirus.
Recent reports said devs are working 16 hour work days with no real end in sight. The crunch is expected to continue after the game's launch as more people work on the day one patch. Cyberpunk 2077 just went gold, but that doesn't mean the work is done, just that the game is playable from start to finish. There's still lots to do.

Cyberpunk 2077 delayed because CDPR has to test on 9 platforms at once
UPDATE: CD Projekt RED confirms this is the last delay for Cyberpunk 2077;
Cyberpunk 2077 has once again been delayed, and will now release on December 10, 2020.
Today CD Projekt RED announced their massive sci-fi FPS-RPG has been delayed 21 days to December 10, 2020. The reason? The developers have to test the game out on nine separate platforms across current- and next-gen hardware to ensure compatibility. To make things harder, they have to do the testing remotely from home. Cyberpunk 2077 is technically finished and has gone gold, but that doesn't mean it's 100% streamlined on every platform. It just means the game can be completed from start to finish.

Devil May Cry 5 won't support ray tracing on Xbox Series S
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition won't support ray tracing on the Xbox Series S, Capcom recently confirmed.
Capcom dials back expectations for Devil May Cry 5's next-gen performance on the Xbox Series S console. According to the devs, DMC5SE won't have ray-traced visuals and reflections when playing on the lesser-powered Xbox Series S. Ray tracing will enabled via a post-release patch download on Xbox consoles. Capcom previously confirmed the new DMC re-release would support the following performance on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5:
The developers have yet to detail the kind of performance Xbox Series S owners can expect. Now that ray tracing has been omitted, we should at least see 1080p 60FPS as a baseline, possibly even 1440p 60FPS that's upscaled for 4K UHDTVs.

AMD acquires Xilinx on eve of Big Navi reveal in a huge $35 billion
AMD has announced it will be acquiring Xilinx in a gigantic deal worth $35 billion, literally on the eve before its huge RDNA 2 reveal event for the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards.
The deal sees AMD acquiring Xilinx in an all-stock transaction valued at $35 billion, which gives AMD a serious edge against all of its competitors. AMD now has kick ass CPU, GPU, SoCs, and more -- but the acquisition of Xilinx allows the company to expand its claws deeper into its competitors' markets.
Xilinx on the other hand takes its focus and laser beams it into high-performance FPGAs, SoCs for datacenter, communications, automotive, industrial, aerospace, and defense markets. You can see from these markets alone why AMD wants to acquire Xilinx -- a very big move going forward.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti teased again, would feature 12GB GDDR6X
We've heard rumors of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti before, but it disappeared pretty quick -- but now a leaker it putting it back out into the world.
The purported GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would have 9984 CUDA cores, up from the 8704 CUDA cores on the GeForce RTX 3080, and less than the 10496 CUDA cores on the GeForce RTX 3090. The big difference here is the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would have 12GB of GDDR6X on a wider 384-bit memory bus (compared to the 320-bit bus on the RTX 3080).
We've previously heard a new GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB was expected for December 2020, but then a few days ago those plans were reportedly canceled. Remember that AMD is right around the corner with Big Navi and the new RDNA 2-powered Radeon RX 6000 series being unveiled on October 28,.

CML says its depth camera is better than Apple's LiDAR system
Cambridge Mechatronics Limited (CML) recently announced it is building a depth camera for smartphones that is better for AR than Apple's LiDAR system.
Apple recently revealed the iPhone 12 Pro lineup, which comes equipped with a LiDAR depth camera system that enables advanced AR applications that understand your surroundings' spatial map. The LiDAR camera in the iPhone 12 Pro can capture 600 points of data up to five meters away. Apple then uses AI to fill in the missing information to build a 3D mesh of your environment to enable impressive augmented reality experiences.
CML's new camera can capture depth at up to 10 meters, and it does so with much higher precision than Apple's LiDAR camera. CML said its camera collects 300,000 points of data, which gives its captures high enough resolution not to warrant additional processing from a neural network.

PUBG will run at 60FPS on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X consoles
It was only last week that I reported the current-gen consoles would be receiving a new "Framerate Priority mode" that would usher in 60FPS for PS4 and Xbox One... but now next-gen consoles get some 60FPS lovin'.
The developer has been asked by console gamers about the new 60FPS mode for PUBG on next-gen consoles, with the developer explaining: "The Xbox Series X will leverage the Xbox One X game build. The game will run at 60 FPS by selecting the Framerate Priority option*. The Xbox Series S will leverage the Xbox One S game build, which runs at 30 FPS. We are working to provide an option to raise the framerate cap on Xbox One S and Xbox Series S consoles in the future".
They continued: "PlayStation 5 will leverage the PlayStation 4 Pro build. By selecting the Framerate Priority option*, the game will run up to 60 FPS. *Framerate Priority option releases on live servers for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro with the October 9.1 Update".

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti accidentally, kinda revealed in GPU-Z leak
We're very, very close to the release of NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3070 and now we have some juicy leaks on the slightly lower-end GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card.
The new leaks are coming from a public GPU-Z validation, where we have some specs on the purported GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. We're looking at 4864 CUDA cores, a GPU base clock of 1410MHz and GPU boost clock of 1665MHz (at least as reported by GPU-Z).
NVIDIA is expected to slap 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory bus that will have 448GB/sec of memory bandwidth on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. We will have more information on this card as it comes.

This new Mandalorian Xbox controllers costs $160, drops on December 31
The Mandalorian will soon be streaming its second season on Disney+ and right after that we a newly-announced Xbox One controller bundle.
The new Mandalorian Xbox One controller looks pretty damn nice, but you better have those Benjamins ready as it costs $160 on its own. The weird thing here is that The Mandalorian S2 drops on October 28, the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X consoles drop in November -- while the new Mandalorian controller will be released on December 31, 2020.
The new controller will work on the current-gen Xbox One and next-gen Xbox Series X/S consoles, with Microsoft using a unique design and pattern "reminiscent of beskar steel". What is beskar steel? That's what the armor that Din "Mando" Djarin's bounty hunter is made from.

Huawei is building a 6-DoF VR headset that tethers to a phone
Huawei recently revealed a compact VR headset that tethers to a smartphone for its compute power. We don't know much about the headset, but we're very curious about its unique design.
The new Huawei VR headset is a compact device that looks similar in size to a pair of ski goggles. The visor isn't very deep, and it looks like the screens would be close to your eyes in this configuration. The headset images make it look somewhat like an AR device, but from what we understand, this is an upcoming VR headset.
The new Huawei VR Glass supports 6-DoF tracking for both the headset and a pair of wand controllers that come with it. The controllers look a lot like Oculus Touch controllers, with a couple of face buttons and a menu button, along with a thumbstick on each controller. Huawei's controllers also double as a stand for the headset, which is a novel idea.

PALIT announces its new GeForce RTX 3070 JetStream graphics card
Palit has just revealed its GeForce RTX 3070 JetStream ahead of its release on October 29 when NVIDIA will unleash the GeForce RTX 3070 and hopefully -- there will be lots of cards for gamers to buy.
The new Palit GeForce RTX 3070 JetStream has a super-short PCB, which ends at the point when the dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors are placed. It seems Palit has dropped most (if not nearly all) RGB lighting from the RTX 3070 JetStream graphics card, with the JetStream logo on the front looking like it will light up.
On the back we have a backplate that extends past the PCB itself, with dual fans keeping the Ampere GPU and GDDR6 memory nice and cool. We will have more details on the card when it's made official on October 29.

COLORFUL's new iGame GeForce RTX 3090 Vulcan X OC rocks LCD display
COLORFUL has just launched its custom iGame GeForce RTX 3090 Vulcan X OC graphics card, which rocks a glorious LCD display and unique style.
The new iGame RTX 3090 Vulcan X OC graphics card is a hefty triple-slot, triple-fan beast that requires 3 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and a full custom PCB with 14+8+4 power stage design. COLORFUL ramps things up with a TGP of 390W, which is 40W more than the GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition.
COLORFUL has a factory overclock up to 1785MHz, with a physical Turbo button on the back of the graphics card for some easy one-touch OC. We don't know what price to expect just yet with availability starting this week. No, Facebook won't ban you for having two Quests
Facebook's new policies are causing a lot of confusion for Oculus account holders and Facebook's support agents. Last week, reports surfaced that suggested you could get banned from Facebook for using two Oculus headsets at the same time. Facebook says that false.
On Saturday, Reddit user kommanderk33n posted screenshots of what looked like an unfortunate interaction with Oculus support. Kommanderk33n has two Oculus accounts; one for himself and one for guests. Facebook's new policy requires that Oculus accounts be associated with Facebook accounts, but Facebook's terms of service forbid users from creating multiple accounts. I'm sure you see the problem here.
While seeking guidance, Oculus Support gave kommanderk33n what looked like the worst possible response: Having two headsets associated with one Facebook account would be grounds for account termination.

Radeon RX 6800 XT leaked results: faster than GeForce RTX 3080 at 4K
We're getting awfully close to Big Navi's huge release with the next-gen Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, with some leaked 3DMark results showing it easily beating the GeForce RTX 3080.
The new benchmarks are for 3DMark FireStrike Ultra and FireStrike Extreme, as well as the TimeSpy Extreme and TimeSpy benchmarks. AMD's new Radeon RX 6800 XT crushes NVIDIA's new Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3080 in FireStrike Ultra and FireStrike Extreme, while losing to the RTX 3080 in TimeSpy Expreme and TimeSpy.
This would mean the new Radeon RX 6800 XT is around 56% faster than the RTX 2080 Ti and 22% faster than the RTX 3080 -- but this is only 3DMark. This isn't a blanket "OMG the Radeon RX 6800 XT is way faster than the RTX 3080" but more so "these are the very latest leaked numbers on the RX 6800 XT" and they're specifically in a synthetic benchmark, which is not indicative of real-world gaming.

AMD's new Ryzen 5 5600X costs $299, battles Core i9-10900K at $600+
AMD is about to give everyone a reason to remember, remember the 5th of November with the release of Zen 3 -- and I think one of the most special Zen 3-based processors will be the Ryzen 5 5600X.
The new Ryzen 5 5600X is a new 6-core / 12-thread CPU on the Zen 3 architecture with base CPU clocks of 3.7GHz and boost clocks of up to 4.6GHz on an easy 65W TDP. In some new PassMark CPU Mark benchmark scores, we see that the single-thread performance on the Ryzen 5 5600X beats the Core i9-10900K that costs nearly twice as much.
More importantly is that this shows us the incredible IPC improvement on the Zen 3 architecture over the Zen 2 architecture that powers the current Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. The higher-end Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X processors will be even better -- this is just what to expect from the $299 chip.

Baby Yoda comes to Star Wars Squadrons with new Mandalorian DLC
Both factions will receive one hologram, one decal, one dashboaIn prep for The Mandalorian season 2's premiere on October 30, EA Motive has announced a nifty crossover event that features our favorite green Force-wielding alien baby.
Starting Wednesday, October 28, gamers can unlock new Mandalorian-themed cosmetics in Star Wars Squadrons. The best part about this news is that Baby Yoda himself will be an unlockable trinket for your ship's dashboard. The Child will help bring you good Light Side cheer as you're blasting Imperial dogs out of the sky.
Baby Yoda is only unlockable for New Republic ships, and the Mando supply drop brings a total of 8 new timed cosmetics to unlock: one hologram, one decal, one dashboard flair, and one hanging flair per faction. All of these drops will be earnable in-game and won't be sold as microtransactions (thankfully, Squadrons doesn't have any in-game purchases).
