Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to PS5 with 60FPS, free next-gen upgrade
It's official: Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the PlayStation 5, and PS4 owners get a free next-gen upgrade.
A next-gen version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming June 10, 2021 for PlayStation 5, complete with high-end optimizations. The game will have two modes: a 4K mode that prioritizes graphics and visuals, and a 60FPS mode that boosts frame rates--which is a big deal for an action game like FF7R. Other tweaks include ultra-fast loading via the PS5's SSD (the game will load in just seconds), new atmospheric fog and lighting effects, and improved textures.
Square Enix is offering a free next-gen upgrade to anyone who bought the PS4 version, and your saves will transfer over. There's also a normal difficulty for classic mode and a photo mode to boot.

Dragon Age 4 development timeline: All the major milestones so far
Dragon Age 4 has shifted development twice now, and like most games, the process hasn't been straightforward. Here's a closer look at what's happened since the game entered development in 2015.
The next Dragon Age is in full swing at BioWare, and will be the next game the developer releases. But like Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Dragon Age Inquisition before it, the game has changed and morphed over the last 6 or so years--so much that key BioWare executives have left the company after decades' long tenures.
After today's news that Dragon Age is now a singleplayer-only game, I thought it important to outline and chronicle all the major changes and updates with the game and BioWare's development environment in the last few years.

EA gives BioWare permission to do what it does best: singleplayer RPGs
EA has relented: Dragon Age 4 will now be a fully singleplayer-only game, sources tell Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.
The next Dragon Age game will see BioWare return to its classic singleplayer RPG roots. Reports say BioWare has received EA's blessing to make Dragon Age 4 an offline singleplayer game, which is a big departure from the publisher's previous plans.
The new Dragon Age has been rebooted twice now. The first iteration, codenamed Joplin, entered development in 2015 as a smaller-scale project focused on Tevinter spies. Then in 2017, EA pushed a reboot to a new online-driven live service game with heavy monetization. This was known as Morrison, and would've featured globally-reactive worlds with "live storytelling."

Cyberpunk 2077 source code hack halts update development for weeks
After the recent source code hack, CD Projekt RED has locked employees out of its internal network. This has caused significant delay in Cyberpunk 2077's updates, and is the main reason the big Patch 1.2 update has been pushed back to late March.
CD Projekt RED developers are no longer able to access the company's internal network, halting development on Cyberpunk 2077's anticipated patches and next-gen upgrades. Sources tell Bloomberg that most of CDPR's employees are unable to work on the updates because they've been locked out, with the majority of developers out of the office in work-from-home environments.
Worse still, personal information was compromised in the hack. The company has told workers to report identity theft, freeze their bank accounts, and change key information as soon as possible.

Hulu debuts Solar Opposites Season 2 trailer and release date
The wait is finally over, Hulu has released the new trailer for the coming season of its hit show Solar Opposites.
If you are a fan of Rick and Morty and haven't check out Solar Opposites, you are missing out. Solar Opposites is basically like Rick and Morty but a little tamer when it comes to jokes and references. However, the creator of Solar Opposites is Justin Roiland, who also created Rick and Morty, and if you know anything about Roilands kind of humor, you can expect some pretty interesting jokes.
Above you will find the new trailer for season two, and you can see that the family of aliens gets up to quite a lot of mischief while trying to fit into society on Earth. According to the announcement, season two of Solar Opposites will be released exclusively on Hulu on March 26th. For more information on Solar Opposites, check out this link here.

GIGABYTE's new AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 ELITE has 'Neonpunk' design
GIGABYTE has just unveiled another card you'll probably never see, but it still looks great -- with the new AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 ELITE graphics card teased with a "Neonpunk" design. Check it out:
The new AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 ELITE graphics card is cooled with by its huge WINDFORCE 3X cooling system, which feels super overkill for the RTX 3060 -- with 3 x 80mm fans, 5 composite copper heat pipes direct touch GPU, 3D active fan and more under the hood.
As for the GPU itself, the GeForce RTX 3060 is powered by the GA106-300 GPU with 3584 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus with 15Gbps of bandwidth. GPU clocks are unknown at this point, but I'm sure they'll be confirmed very soon.

AMD will officially announce the Radeon RX 6700 XT on March 3
AMD has announced its new event for March 3 where it will be unveiling the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, the latest member of the RDNA 2 family of cards that... well... you can't buy.
The new mid-range AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card has the same design style as the current Radeon RX 6800, Radeon RX 6800 XT, and Radeon RX 6900 XT reference graphics cards with its dual-fan design. Inside, the new Navi 22 GPU will power the Radeon RX 6700 XT -- the first outing of the Navi 22 GPU.
Navi 22 has 2560 Stream Processors, while the Radeon RX 6700 XT should pack 12GB of GDDR6 memory -- equal to NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. AMD's teaser video on Twitter shows that there is no USB Type-C connector on the Radeon RX 6700 XT, unlike the RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT graphics cards.

Anthem reboot cancelled, game will stay as-is with no future updates
Anthem's anticipated reboot has been cancelled, and BioWare has moved on to Mass Effect and Dragon Age, the developer today announced.
BioWare has officially scrapped its plans for Anthem NEXT and the game will now remain as-is without any future updates, similar to Battlefront II. EA is now pushing BioWare towards less risky franchises like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, both of which have new games in development.
The news comes after months of concept development for Anthem NEXT from a small crew or designers. EA ultimately made the call to jettison the risky IP despite sinking valuable R&D costs over the last four years (not unlike how it jettisoned many Star Wars games including multiple EA Vancouver titles).

Cyberpunk 2077 won't be fixed on consoles until March
Cyberpunk 2077's second big update won't release in February, and has been delayed to the second half of March, CD Projekt RED today announced.
Right now CDPR is being hit on all sides: They're getting sued from angry investors, gamers are still upset and Cyberpunk 2077 is still off the PS Store, and the studio just suffered a recent cyber attack that saw source code being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
As a result of these stressors, Cyberpunk 2077's Patch 1.2 update has been pushed back. The update now has a targeted release date of the second half of March, but even that's not a guarantee.

Watch NASA's rover land in HD, and its first 360 view of Mars surface
If you happened to miss the news, NASA officially touched down on Mars with its Perseverance rover last week.
Last week, NASA landed its Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter on the surface of the Red Planet, and now we have a video posted to Bloomberg Technology YouTube channel of the rover landing on the surface. The video can be found below.
Now, the Perseverance rover has captured its first 360-degree view of the Red Planet's surface where it landed. NASA explained that the video was captured with the rover's color Navigation Cameras, or "Navcams". For those that don't know, Perseverance is equipped with 19 cameras located all over the rover, which makes Perseverance the most equipped Mars rover to date when it comes to cameras. Qualcomm launches AR smart viewer reference design specifications
Qualcomm today announced the Snapdragon XR1 AR Smart Viewer reference design, which will help hardware designers create powerful AR smart glasses for the consumer and enterprise markets.
Qualcomm's new AR Smart Viewer reference design is based on the company's Snapdragon XR1 platform. But unlike the XR1 VR reference design, which places the processing power inside the headset, the AR Smart Viewer reference requires an XR1 powered host device to do the heavy lifting.
AR smart viewers differ from AR simple viewers in that they include onboard processing hardware. AR simple viewers entirely rely on the tethered host device to handle the processing. AR smart viewers split the processing load between the host device and the viewer device. Qualcomm said this approach not only increases performance but also reduces overall power consumption.

Crytek's The Climb 2 coming to Quest next week
The Climb 2 is about to drop, marking Crytek's return to VR development. Oculus announced that the game would be available on March 4.
In 2016, Crytek released The Climb as a launch title for the Oculus Rift. A few months later, the company launched Robinson: The Journey on PSVR. We haven't seen a VR game from Crytek since. Until now.
Throughout 2016, the year consumer VR hit the market, Crytek struggled to pay its bills and its staff. At the end of the year, an investment from the Turkish government kept the company afloat, but the small install base kept Crytek from experimenting further with VR. After Oculus released the Quest, Crytek ported The Climb to the mobile VR system. Since then, the company built a full sequel to the VR rock climbing game.

Sony confirms new PSVR in development, not coming this year
Sony today confirmed that it is developing a new PlayStation VR headset for the PlayStation 5 console. The new device would offer better displays, a wider field of view, better tracking, and new controllers.
Sony recently launched the PlayStation 5 console, and with it came support for the existing PSVR headset. Before the launch of the PS5 console, Sony wasn't very forthright with the details about its next VR system. Until today, we didn't know for sure that Sony would carry on with VR for the new console generation. The company's executives made it seem like we wouldn't see a new headset anytime soon.
A handful of patents have been uncovered in recent months, including a design for new motion controllers that includes additional buttons and a thumbstick for each hand. The patent diagram shows a pair of wand controllers that resemble Valve's Index controllers, with a sensor-embedded halo that wraps around the wands. Sony said the new controllers would integrate features from the DuelSense wireless controllers, although it didn't elaborate on which features precisely.

New runewords may come to Diablo II Resurrected post-launch
Diablo 2 Resurrected is just the beginning, and Blizzard hints at plans to update the game post-launch.
It has been years since Blizzard touched D2. The game's current version, 1.14, was released nearly 5 years ago and the game has remained static since. The new Diablo II Resurrected remaster may revitalize the ARPG classic with new post-release patches, updates, and content to change the meta and scope of the game.
The updates should start with new runewords. In a recent Q&A session, Diablo II Resurrected principal designer Ryan Gallerani hinted new runewords could drop after the game's launch.

Report: PS5's God of War Ragnarok sequel delayed past 2021
God of War Ragnarok will miss its planned 2021 release date, Sony strongly hints.
Today Sony confirmed Gran Turismo 7 has been delayed from 2021 over to 2022, and it might not be the only high-profile PS5 game to get pushed back. In a recent GQ Magazine interview, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan outlined all the first-party PS5 exclusives launching in 2021; Returnal in April, Ratchet and Clank a Rift Apart in June, and Horizon: Forbidden West in 2H 2021. The hugely anticipated God of War sequel wasn't among those games.
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who has close knowledge with the games industry, also says Ragnarok won't launch in 2021. While neither Sony or God of War developer Sony Santa Monica hasn't officially confirmed a delay, the game's omission from the high-profile press interview speaks volumes.

Sony breaks console exclusivity, launching big PS4 games on PC in 2021
Sony confirms first-party PS4 exclusive Days Gone will release on PC this Spring, and more games are coming in 2021.
Horizon: Zero Dawn's Steam launch was just the beginning of Sony's new PC focus. The next PS4 game dropping on PC will be Sony Bend's open-world zombie game Days Gone, Sony's Jim Ryan confirmed in a new GQ Magazine interview.
The port should release with modern PC enhancements like improved FPS, ultra-wide support, and high-resolution textures. Expect the game to be unrestricted by the PS4's and PS4 Pro's limited Jaguar-based APU, and there's a possibility we could see a PS5 optimized re-release as well. No exact information on Days Gone's PC performance has been announced just yet.
