There's still over 100 million people using Windows 7
There are billions of Windows users worldwide, but how many people still use Windows 7 in 2020? That number would be at least 100 million... staggering, but it has dropped by 100 million since 2019, where 200+ million were using Windows 7.
The numbers from StatCounter show that Windows 7 has around 17% market share from all Windows operating systems, with Windows 10 far out and beyond that with 76% of people using Windows 10 as of November 2020. Microsoft estimates that there are around 1.5 billion users running Windows worldwide.
Microsoft nixed support for Windows 7 in January 2020, just under 11 years since the operating system launched back in 2009. Windows 7 was a big change in operating system gears for Microsoft, but man Windows 10 has come along way in that time.

Elon Musk teases Berlin Gigafactory update with new drone footage
Elon Musk has shared some gorgeous new drone footage of the nearly-ready Tesla Gigafactory that is located in Brandenburg, about 20 miles south-east of Berlin. Check it out:
The new facility might not look tall from that eagle-eye view, but Musk confirms that the new Tesla Gigafactory is a 5-story tall building. The new Gigafactory in Germany will open up 10,000 jobs for the economy and make 500,000 vehicles per year.
Tesla will be manufacturing the Model Y electric vehicle for Europe, which should begin rolling out in the coming months and flooding into the European market.

Samsung debuts its Neo QLED flagship 8K, 4K TVs with Quantum Mini LEDs
Samsung has just taken the covers off of its new Neo QLED range of TVs, something the company says is a "whole new display technology" that takes a Quantum Leap in TV display technology.
The company is introducing the new Neo QLED in 8K (QN900A) and the 4K (QN90A) models which will be powered by their new Quantum Mini LED, something the company says is "precisely controlled" by Quantum Matrix Technology and Neo Quantum Processor which Samsung says is a "powerful picture processor optimized or Neo QLED".
Samsung's new 2021 Neo QLED 8K uses a beautiful new Infinity One Design, which is a near bezel-less screen that would look gorgeous anywhere in your house. The 2021 Neo QLED 8K packs several "premium, room-filling audio features; Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro's dynamic sound corresponds to the movement of objects on screen, and SpaceFit Sound analyzes the installed TV's physical environment and outputs immersive sound tailored specifically to your space".

Intel DG2 GPU should have up to 512 Execution Units, made on TSMC 6nm
Intel's new DG2 discrete GPU is on its way, with some recent teases thanks to some newly-released Intel GPU drivers.
The new Intel 100.9126 GPU driver teases SKU variants of DG2, with two DG2 Device IDs found in the new driver. There is a 128 EU (Execution Unit) version that would pack 1028 Shading Units, while the 512 EU version would pack 4096 Shading Units.
We don't know where this fits in against AMD and its new RDNA 2 architecture and Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, nor do we know how Intel's new GPUs will battle against NVIDIA's new Ampere architecture and the GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards.

AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX spotted, should be kick ass next-gen APU
AMD will be launching its next-gen Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000H mobile series CPUs next week, which should be led by the Ryzen 9 5980HX processor.
The new SKU will be based on the Cezanne APU, powered by the Zen 3 architecture that will have double-digit performance-per-watt improvements over the previous-gen Renoir APU. The Ryzen 9 5980HX hasn't been seen before, but it joins the Ryzen 9 5900HX, Ryzen 9 5900H, and Ryzen 9 5900HS processors.
We should expect the AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX processor to be an 8-core, 16-thread chip with a boost clock somewhere upwards of 4.7GHz or higher. We don't know what type of GPU it will be packing, nor do we know the TDP just yet but I'm sure we'll know that next week when they're detailed.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q specs: 6144 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 memory
NVIDIA will reportedly be launching two new GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile GPUs, with a Max-P and Max-Q model that will see the Max-P with up to 150W power, while the Max-Q is a little tamer at 90W.
The GeForce RTX 3080 Max-P will have a 1100MHz base GPU clock and 1545MHz boost GPU clock and 150W, while the GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q will have a 780MHz base GPU clock and 1245MHz boost GPU clock at 90W. We should see a few variants in between these two models at 80W, 115W, 125W, and others.
NVIDIA will also be offering both 8GB and 16GB models of its new GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile GPUs, which I hope happens. VideoCardz thinks we'll see up to 10 models of the GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile/Laptop graphics cards, each with varying GPU clock speeds, power limits, and memory capacity.

Tesla could deliver up to 800,000 cars in 2021, up from 500K in 2020
Tesla delivered 500,000 vehicles throughout 2020 -- but now we have Deutsche Bank analysts saying they expect Tesla to deliver around 800,000 vehicles in 2021.
Deutsche Bank is optimistic about Tesla estimating 775,000 vehicle deliveries in 2021, increasing those expectations by around 3% or so. The bank also expects Tesla will earn around $46 billion in revenue in 2021, up from the $31 billion in revenue for 2020 -- an increase by a hefty 48%.
The demand coming out of Europe and Asia for Tesla electric vehicles has given Deutsche Bank some of those hairs standing on their arms, so they consider 2021 a big year for the electric car giant in other markets outside of their success in the US.

President Trump has his Twitter account suspended for 12 hours
Breaking: It's happened... President Trump has been suspended off Twitter for the next 12 hours, after the social networking giant considered 3 of his latest tweets as an attempted coup.
One of President Trump's now-removed tweets, calling for Americans to "go home with love & in peace". If Trump deletes the tweets that triggered Twitter, then they will unlock his accounts. If those tweets are not deleted in the next 12 hours, then his account will "remain locked".
Twitter censored his video calling for peace and for Americans to go home, and leave the Capitol building in DC... not allowing comments, re-tweets or shares of his tweet. It was not long after that, when Twitter locked President Trump's account.

Nintendo literally LMAO'd when Microsoft tried to buy them
In the early days of Xbox, Microsoft had no idea what it was doing. So it tried to throw its billions around and buy up companies that had experience. Nintendo was one such company, but instead of selling, they just laughed.
In Bloomberg's excellent history of Xbox article, key Microsoft executives talked about Xbox's humble beginnings. The content is filled with lots of surprises like Microsoft trying to buy out EA, Square, and even Nintendo. Needless to say that nobody sold, and in response to the offer, the staunchly conservative Japanese company practically laughed Microsoft out of the room.
"Steve Ballmer made us go meet with Nintendo to see if they would consider being acquired. They just laughed their asses off. Like, imagine an hour of somebody just laughing at you. That was kind of how that meeting went," ex-third-party Xbox exec Kevin Bachus told Bloomberg.

Here's proof that Flight Simulator looks better than real life
Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the most photorealistic games ever made, and sometimes it can even look better than real life.
Microsoft Flight Simulator (left) vs real-life footage (right).
Recently a quick side-by-side video clip made the rounds on Twitter that showed just how impressive Flight Simulator looks on PC. The video, which compares a real-life and in-game landing at Gatwick airport, was put out by YouTuber Tropical Tech 2. The results are eye-opening to say the least.

Nintendo buys a new game studio for the first time in 13 years
Nintendo recently acquired a new studio for the first time in 13 years in an effort to fortify its first-party studio lineup.
Nintendo just purchased majority shares in Canadian game dev Next Level Games, the studio behind Luigi's Mansion 3, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is very strategic on Nintendo's part, and the company is typically quite reserved with its buyouts. As Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad notes, the last time Nintendo acquired a company was Monolith Soft back in 2007.
Next Level Games has a strong relationship with Nintendo that dates all the way back to 2005 with the Super Mario Strikers game on GameCube. The dev studio has been working exclusively with Nintendo since 2011, where it helped make the Luigi's Mansion games on 3DS and Switch. Next Level Games has developed three games for Nintendo so far: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Metroid Federation Force, and Luigi's Mansion 3.

PS4 Pro no longer being manufactured in Japan, retired after 4 years
The PlayStation 4 Pro is officially dead in Sony's domestic Japanese market, the company told Japanese publication Game Watch.
The reports were true: Sony has discontinued all PlayStation 4 Pro models in Japan, and the system will no longer be in production in Sony's home country. The discontinuation comes just 4 years after the PS4 Pro's rollout in 2016, and makes sense from a market standpoint as the Pro has the same $399 MSRP as the PlayStation 5 all-digital edition. The PS4 Pro's 14nm Polaris-Vega SoC is also more specialized than the more widely available (and cheaper) Jaguar SoC used in the base PS4 model.
Sony will now offer only a single PlayStation 4 SKU in Japan, the Jet Black 500GB PS4 Slim model. Sony's Japanese manufacturing facilities will start ramping up PlayStation 5 production, and reports say as many as 18 million PS5 consoles will be made available worldwide in 2021. Sony's Kisarazu-based plant is nearly autonomous and can assemble a PlayStation console every 30 seconds.

Final Fantasy publisher's new dark sci-fi shooter Outriders delayed
People Can Fly, the devs behind Bullestorm, are working on a new third-person sci-fi shooter called Outriders. Originally planned to release next month, Outriders has been delayed to April 2021.
The new shoot-and-loot co-op game Outriders has been delayed to April 1, 2021, the game developers today revealed. This marks the second delay for the game (first from December 2020 to February 2021, and now February 2021 to April 2021), which is becoming more normalized as developers work entirely from home.
Instead of a final release, People Can Fly will launch a free playable three-hour demo for Outriders on February 25, 2021 so gamers can try it out before they buy. This could go two ways for Square Enix. Publishers like EA have learned the hard way not to release too many game demos (Andromeda's demo practically killed the release), and the early consensus from trailer comments is that Outriders looks fairly generic and uninspired.

PS1 ninja classic Tenchu could rise from the shadows on PlayStation 5
Anyone who grew up with a PlayStation 1 probably remembers Tenchu. Now the original devs want to bring the ninja franchise back with a new release on PS5.
It's been 12 years since the last Tenchu game. Well...technically that's not true. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice originally started off as a Tenchu game, but morphed into the brutal Souls-like we know today. That might not be the end of the franchise though. Acquire, the original Japanese developer/publisher behind the Tenchu IP, wants to create a fully-fledged Stealth Assassins game for the new generation of console hardware.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Acquire president Takuma Endo says he's interested in building a new Tenchu game "from the ground up" for the PlayStation 5. This could prove difficult as the company only has half of the necessary pieces. Acquire owns the trademark rights to the Stealth Assassins name, but FromSoftware owns the publishing rights to the Tenchu series (FromSoft teamed up with Activision to publish/distribute Sekiro, for example, but that was a new IP).
