Capcom/Valve to fix Monster Hunter: World connection errors
Capcom's Monster Hunter: World just released onto the PC and has already attracted the attention of thousands of players, so many that it has actually broken the launch record for most popular Japanese title.
Despite the games immense popularity, players have been experiencing numerous connections issues, some of which have been so bad that it has turned players away from the title until the problems are fixed. Do not fret though, Capcom has recognized that there is a severe problem with the PC version of Monster Hunter: World, and have announced that they are currently on the case to investigate the issue.
According to MHW_Capcom, "We have been receiving numerous reports that players are experiencing connection errors several times after they depart on quests. We are currently investigating the cause of this and are working with Valve to resolve the issue as soon as possible." Unfortunately Capcom did not provide a time for when they would be rolling out these fixes so we can only hope that these problems are not major ones and instead can just be fixed with a simple small update. Capcom finished off their post with "We will keep you informed of further developments in this matter. We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."

Marvel's Spider-Man gameplay launch trailer unveiled early
Insomniac Games has released the gameplay launch trailer early for Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man, the trailer has been dropped onto the PlayStation YouTube Channel and showcases Miles Morales.
The trailer showcases some already seen footage from the game, but most importantly is the first 15 seconds of the trailer where we see Spider-Man meet Miles Morales, or better known as Ultimate Spider-Man. For those that don't know, Ultimate Spider-Man was created in 2011 by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, the character is inspired by President Barack Obama and actor/musician Donald Glover.
Ultimate Spider-Man is quite similar to Peter Parker in terms of abilities and strength, he does have two main differences though. According to the Ultimate Spider-Man Wikipedia page, Morales' "spider sense" isn't as strong as Parkers, but he makes up for it with the ability to be able to camouflage his clothing and himself to whatever environment is behind him. Morales also has an ability called "venom strike" which can paralyze almost anyone with just a touch. It is unclear whether these abilities will be included within Insomniac's and Marvels rendition of Spider-Man, but it would certainly be good to see/play. Marvel's Spider-Man will be releasing exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on September 7th.

id making 'new Doom universe,' new games likely on the way
id Software is far from finished with the Doom franchise.
At Quakecon 2018 id said something interesting about Doom Eternal and the series altogether: the team aims to flesh out the brutal, hallowed and chaotic universe that's enthralled millions for decades now. Rather that simply make another FPS joyride through hell, id is carefully sculpting the rebooted franchise's future, which means Doom Eternal is likely just the second portal through hell that we'll jovially cross. There could be many more.
"We're not just making a Doom game any more. We're building a Doom universe," Doom Eternal game director Marty Stratton said on the event's stage. This strongly hints that more Doom is on the way. Doom 2016 was just the beginning, and Doom Eternal is just the second chapter...but what lies beyond that is still being inked out.

RAGE 2 won't have 'typical multiplayer'
RAGE 2 will be a singleplayer-driven game, developer id Software says, but it will have some sort of online social interaction.
When I first saw RAGE 2 I thought its open-ended chaotic sandbox made a good blueprint for a potential online service game. My thoughts were amplified once I heard RAGE 2 would be monetized in some fashion and follow the traditional live service engagement-revenue model. It turns out my predictions were wrong: it's not actually an online multiplayer game...well at least in the traditional sense. RAGE 2 will indeed have some sort of player-based interactivity, but don't expect drop-in/drop-out co-op akin to Borderlands.
id Software was quite busy at QuakeCon 2018. We saw Doom Eternal footage, tons of Fallout 76 info, and some clarification on RAGE 2's social-not-multiplayer tactics. "We will have a social component but it's not your typical multiplayer," id Software studio director Tom Willits told Eurogamer in a recent interview.

Donkey Kong creator reveals DKC/King K. Rools original name
Last week we saw the original Donkey Kong Country creator reveal that he regretted the name 'King K. Rool' after the villain was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Gregg Mayles, the designer for Donkey Kong Country has posted a follow-up tweet regarding his support for King K. Rool joining the Super Smash Bros. roster. The new tweet from Mayles reveals the original plans the developers had for the Donkey Kong franchise back in March 1994. The sheet of paper reads that Donkey Kong Country was going to be called 'Monkey Mayhem' and that its main villain King K. Rool was going to instead be called 'Kommander.'
If you missed the reveal of King K. Rool for the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate definitely check out the trailer here. Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series was also announced at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate direct, you can check that out here.

RAGE 2 could possibly be heading to the Nintendo Switch
In an interview with Variety, Tim Willits, id Software's Studio Director discusses whether the sequel to RAGE will see a Nintendo Switch release in the future.
Variety has sat down with Willits and the director has revealed some of the studios plans for the release of RAGE 2 in 2019. According to Willits, RAGE 2 will instead of concentrating on a post-apocalyptic world will push the boundaries and bring players a world that is "post-post-apocalyptic world,' where people are trying to rebuild and vegetation has come back." Willits also reveals that RAGE 2 will be featuring a much more colorful and vibrant world, this will be done by pushing the game 30 years in the future when compared to the last release in the series.
Willits is also asked if players will see RAGE 2 debut to the Nintendo Switch, especially after the studio worked so closely with Panic Button to bring many id Software titles such as DOOM, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and the coming DOOM Eternal to the handheld console. When Willits was asked about a Switch release for RAGE 2 he replied with "We're looking at the tech on that right now, and we're still evaluating that. We stream everything, and we're just looking... because everything is open, everything's available, so there's no level loads. We are looking at that now, but we don't know." Shadow of the Tomb Raider has 'no plans' for Switch release
Eidos Montreal has spoken out about their latest installment into the Tomb Raider franchise, according to the developer a release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider on the Nintendo Switch looks quite grim.
Health Smith, the Lead Game Designer has told GameSpot in a recent interview that development studio Eidos Montreal currently has "no plans" for Shadow of the Tomb Raider releasing on the Nintendo Switch. According to Smith, the studio is currently throwing all of its priority eggs into the PS4, Xbox One and PC basket.
Smith did say throughout the interview that he personally really enjoys the Nintendo Switch, but it seems that Shadow of the Tomb Raider was better suited for a console/PC release. If you want to catch up on some older Shadow of the Tomb Raider news, check out the first 15 minutes of gameplay footage that has been released in 4K. If you have already seen that then there is 40 seconds of gameplay showcasing 'Deadly Tombs' and a further 35 seconds of environmental gameplay.

DOOM Eternal will launch with Switch development in mind
After the amazing reveal of DOOM Eternal at this years QuakeCon, id Software Executive Producer Marty Stratton, and Creative Director Hugo Martin sat down with Eurogamer to discuss some further details about the upcoming title.
Both developers were asked numerous questions, some of which included if DOOM Eternal would be launching on the Nintendo Switch at the same time as the other platforms. Stratton replied to this question and said: "That's the plan right now; we'll see. We're still a way away from launching but we have made the decision to make Switch a, what we call internally, 'first class citizen.'"
Stratton further clarified if the title would be a port or would be developed internally for the handheld console. Here is what he had to say: "No. We're actually working with Panic Button again, but before, we made the game and then we brought it to Switch, and now we are making the game with Switch in mind. It's nice to know the platforms we want to hit up front." It was also confirmed in a later question if DOOM Eternal would be running at 60FPS on the Nintendo Switch, Stratton confirmed that the title would be running at 30FPS much like DOOM 2016, but will be a stable 60FPS on all other platforms. For further information regarding DOOM Eternal visit the Bethesda website here.

Torchlight is being resurrected
While Runic Games is gone forever, its Torchlight series will live on.
Max Schaefer of Blizzard North and Runic Games fame is igniting the torch once again. Schaefer's new studio Echtra Games has teamed up with publisher Perfect World Entertainment to breathe new life into the Torchlight franchise with Torchlight Frontiers, a new ARPG that shifts things up a bit from the previous entries. Torchlight Frontiers should be an action RPG in the same vein as Diablo and the original Torchlights, but with a "shared, persistent and dynamically generated world."
As a big fan of Torchlights I & II I'm particularly excited about this idea but I'll admit I'm skeptical on some of the features. While I particularly played offline in those games, I do see the merit of tackling ARPGs with friends or even random players. From the sound of it Torchlight Frontiers won't have an offline mode and is probably monetized with in-game purchases in some fashion (which is really to be expected from online games), but bear in mind this is speculation on my part.

Scorn delayed, will now launch as full game
Scorn's first chapter has been delayed outside of 2018, but now the game will release as a complete package.
Originally slated to release its first part in October, Scorn has been pushed back to an undetermined release date, Ebb Software recently announced. The news follows a big investment the devs received to fund the game from an undisclosed source--something that's exceedingly helpful for any independent games maker.
"We managed to sign an excellent deal with the great investment fund and acquire additional funds for the development of Scorn," reads the announcement post. "The newly acquired resources will enable us to develop Scorn as intended from start to finish, the whole experience, not just the first part."

Doom Eternal powered by next-gen id Tech 7, sports new modes
Doom Eternal hearkens back to 2016's Doom with its slick and fluid FPS havoc--all thanks to id's latest game engine technology.
At QuakeCon 2018, id Software showcased some grisly, heart-pumping demon massacring action with a new Doom Eternal gameplay trailer. This buttery-smooth mayhem and impressive dynamic visuals and physics are all made possible by the id Tech 7 engine that powers the game--a next-gen toolset that pushes id Software's proprietary software to new heights.
"This id Tech 7 engine allows us to display 10 times the geometric detail and greater texture fidelity than we have ever put on screen," said game director Marty Stratton.

Doom Eternal gameplay is 15 minutes of hell on Earth
As showcased by Bethesda's latest gameplay footage, Doom Eternal aims to up the ante in nearly every way possible--and that means total chaos.
As if Doom Slayer wasn't already a maelstrom of absolute obliteration and havoc, id Software has given the infamous demon-killer a host of new abilities and toys to play with. Doom Eternal, the sequel to 2016's excellent Doom reboot, id Software is redefining monster-slaughtering by adding a bunch of new features into its beloved FPS. In its huge 15 minute gameplay trailer, id Software showed off Doom Slayer's new attacks and skills including a grappling hook that lets you swing while annihilating demons, as well as a new dash ability that gives players an out when things get dicey. Or when you don't want to interrupt your demon-slaying antics (probably the latter).
Weapons can be modified this time around, too. The grappling hook is actually called the "Meat Hook," and it's a mod for the super shotgun. Doom Slayer also has a built-in melee blade to rip and tear unholy flesh, as well as a crazy shoulder-mounted flamethrower-cannon for extra insanity.

Switch VR mode found, may pave way to mobile VR gaming
Nintendo's popular Switch handheld-console hybrid actually has a stock VR mode built into the device, hackers find.
While rooting around the software guts of the Switch, hackers OatmealDome and random666_kys found the system has a VR Mode built into its IPC services section. Similar findings were uncovered first by hacker daeken last year, but users were actually able to test the Switch's VR mode this time around.
Running VR mode mirrors the screen in two halves, similar to an Oculus Rift's or HTC Vive's screen before the images are manipulated by lenses. A display message pops up saying "please move the console away from your face and click the close button," both of which strongly indicate the Switch may support some sort of mobile VR. It's possible the Switch tablet could slot into a mobile headset similar to a Samsung Galaxy phone into a Gear VR headset to provide light VR gaming. Remember the Switch runs a stock NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip that's not nearly powerful enough for dedicated VR gaming, so if anything it'd be mobile-like experiences.

Bethesda's new Dallas studio helping with Starfield
Bethesda's internal ring of game development studios has grown yet again.
Bethesda Game Studios has expanded once more with a new branch in Dallas, Texas that will help create some of its biggest new games--including Starfield. The company today announced it has acquired Escalation Studios--a group of devs who worked on games like Fallout 4 VR, DOOM, and Skyrim VR--and folded the studio into its connected talent pool. This marks the studio's second major expansion this year, the first being the Austin office.
Bethesda's Todd Howard confirms the Dallas studio is already helping manifest its massive new space epic IP Starfield, which is currently in production and development stages, as well as its ambitious, upcoming online-only Fallout 76.

Capcom will debut Mega Man 11 demo on September 4
As we move closer to the release of Mega Man 11 in October, Capcom has stepped out ahead of the pack and provided gamers with what seems to be a demo for Mega Man 11.
For those that don't know, Mega Man 11 will be next installment to the Mega Man franchise and ahead of its release in October, Capcom will be debuting a demo for the title. According to TrueAchievements, a listing that has been found on the Xbox One Store will give players the option to download a demo for the title on September 4th.
Unfortunately minimal details have been provided for what will be included within the demo, it can be assumed that we will be able to experience some basic gameplay mechanics and also "take on all kinds of enemies and traps in the Block Man stage." Players will also be able to "use the new Double Gear system to slow down time or power up your shots and take down that boss". At the moment there has been no information about a PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch or PC demo, as we move closer to the demo's release date I'm sure Capcom will make an announcement. The full release of Mega Man 11 is planned for October 2nd, the title will be arriving on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
