Xbox Scorpio to be priced at $399, could slip into 2018
We don't know much about Microsoft's next-gen Xbox Scorpio console, apart from the fact that it'll be a 4K gaming console that handles VR and has 6 TFLOPs of performance - but what about price?
I've been expecting Microsoft to nail $699 since it'll be a premium console, but Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has said that Xbox Scorpio "is priced at $399", where he adds: "This might not be low enough, particularly if PS4 Pro drops before holiday 2017, but Microsoft has to price competitively or fall farther behind".
I think we'll see Xbox Scorpio coming out at $599 or so, and ushered in as a premium console with "Made for 4K" games as Dan Pearson of GamesIndustry.biz puts it. I want to see 1080p 60FPS as the minimum option, while 4K 30FPS (ugh) will be offered because the 4K buzzword marketing hype machine will demand it.

AMD's next-gen Vega 10 GPU granted RRA certification
We all know that AMD's next-gen Vega 10 GPU is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality, but now both Vega 10 and the upcoming Polaris 12 chip have received RRA certification.
First off: what's this RRA certification? South Korea's National Radio Research Agency is a regulatory body that approves any silicon-based electronic product before it can be pushed out into the consumer market. AMD's upcoming Vega 10 and Polaris 12 GPUs have received RRA certification, which means they're getting much closer to being physical products and not just pre-production boards like we were teased with during the AMD Tech Summit 2016 running DOOM at 4K 60FPS+ on Ultra settings on Vega 10.
So now the game becomes a question of what graphics cards we'll see from Vega 10 and Polaris 12. First off, let's tackle Polaris 12 - which should arrive as a highly tuned Radeon RX 460 which we've been teased about over the last couple of months. AMD stated there would not be a faster GPU under the Polaris family, so don't expect a Radeon RX 490 which blows the hinges off the doors of performance.

Next-gen NVIDIA Shield TV spotted, may rock Pascal Tegra
We've heard rumblings that NVIDIA will unveil a new Shield TV Android set-top box powered by its new Pascal architecture at CES 2017, and now some leaked images have popped up to show what the next-gen micro-console may look like.
NVIDIA may not launch one, but two new Shield TV consoles in the near future--a standard model with an accompanying controller and remote, and a smaller set-top box that could have some features shaved off to reduce price. It's possible that the new Shield TV duo may be based on NVIDIA's next-gen Parker Tegra X2 SoC, which uses a Pascal GPU and is based on the 16nm FinFET process.
As for a new NVIDIA Shield tablet, we might not see one this time around, which could be the reasoning behind the cheaper, smaller Shield TV variant. Although FCC filings hinted that the device was in the works, but NVIDIA has apparently scrapped the tablet so it didn't interfere with the new Nintendo Switch, which is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra processor and uses a hybrid tablet that transforms into a console when docked.

Apple might launch iPhone 7s and iPhone 8 next year
September 2017 is far away, but there are already many rumors about the next iPhone. The new rumor, posted on Chinese tech blog cnBeta, suggests that Apple is developing three iPhone models for next year.
According to the report, Apple will launch two upgraded iPhone 7 models, likely branded iPhone 7s and iPhone 7 Plus. The third phone, codenamed Ferrari, is the real star of the leak cause it will supposedly rock a borderless OLED display, wireless charging, and more.
The new iPhone will reportedly feature the same Touch ID home button, but it would integrate into the display itself, eliminating the bottom bezel 'chin.'

ASRock Fatal1ty and Extreme4 Z270 motherboards detailed
Specs and details ASRock's new Fatal1ty and Extreme4 Z270 motherboards have surfaced, giving us a good look at the boards ahead of their CES 2017 showcase.
With Intel's seventh-gen Kaby Lake CPUs on their way, hardware-makers are busy readying their fleets of new 200-series motherboards, giving consumers lots of possible upgrade mobo paths to Z270 chipset adoption. ASRock's new Fatal1ty Gaming K6 and Extreme4 mobos use the LGA1151 socket and support both 7th-gen Kaby Lake and 6th-gen Skylake processors, and also have native support for Intel's new high-end Optane 3DXpoint 3D NAND SSD storage lineup.
Let's start with ASRock's Extreme4 Z270 motherboard. This is a standard ATX motherboard that features HDMI, DVI-D, and D-Sub display slots (no DisplayPort), three PCIe 3.0 x16 lanes (two of which are outfitted with steel bracing) that support up to three AMD GPUs in CrossFireX or two NVIDIA GPUs in SLI.

Overwatch's Bastion reborn as epic 3D printed PC build
Armed with a 3D printer, a lot of gumption, and technical prowess, PC case modder Jan Erik Vangen has built a custom PC inside of Overwatch's favorite chirpy robot.
Bastion was crafted piece-by-3D-printed-piece using a MakerBot Replicator, and was then assembled like a basic Gundam model and hand-painted by Vangen (yes, he even chirps!). The result is a stunning rendition that will have any Bastion fan in total admiration mode.
Since form factor is an issue, the mech-turned-chassis doesn't have a fully-fledged gaming PC with a dedicated desktop GPU inside, but it still is fully capable of playing Overwatch. Instead of a fully-fledged PC, Vangen fastened an ASRock Beebox-S mini-PC inside of Bastion's chest.

Super Mario Run downloads hit 40 million in four days
Super Mario Run may not have impressed investors, but Apple iOS users everywhere have snapped up the free-to-try mobile game, which led to an astounding 40 million total downloads.
Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Run has amassed 40 million downloads in four days of availability on Apple iOS, smashing milestones like the no. 1 free game on iOS in 140 countries and ranking in the top 10 out of 100 most profitable App Store games.
Interestingly enough, Super Mario Run's launch was met with disdain from shareholders and investors, who saw Nintendo's mobile business strategy as a potential roadblock to revenue earnings. This caused Nintendo shares to slide by 5%, representing billions of potential market loss. Super Mario Run is free to download, but only the first 3 levels are free, with the rest of the game being locked behind a $10 paygate. What's more is that Super Mario Run is online-only and requires a persistent cellular or Wi-Fi internet connection to play, and eats up about 75MB per hour of play.

Apple's Campus 2 has changed a lot in the past 6 months
Apple's enormous campus in Cupertino is scheduled to open in 2017, and the latest drone footage from YouTube user Matthew Roberts shows how much the spaceship-like structure changed in the last six months.
The building is the brainchild of the late CEO, Steve Jobs, and designed by acclaimed architect, Lord Norman Foster. Steve Jobs spent a large part of two years on the project before his death in 2011.
The construction started in 2013, and you can see in the newest footage that it's almost ready for its grand opening.

Nintendo Switch console to hit 1080p medium preset
If you had any doubts that Nintendo's new Switch transforming console and handheld hybrid would scale its performance across its two modes, then we have some actual hard evidence for you.
Since the Nintendo Switch supports Unreal Engine 4, one sleuthing NeoGAF user thought to check UE4's master .bin for any mention of the Switch...and lo and behold, they discovered the Switch's UE4 display profiles. The profiles tell us quite a bit about the Nintendo Switch's overall power, indicating that the Switch will indeed be more powerful while docked in its cradle, and with the GPU downclocking to reduce fidelity and graphical settings while in handheld mode to reduce heat and battery drain.
The UE4 profiles not only scale down graphical effects and settings, but also reduce the screen size to compensate for the display switch from a 1080p HDTV to the Switch's portable 6.2-inch 720p display.

Model S owner turns his garage into a Tesla showroom
It's pretty safe to say that Tesla Motors doesn't have just customers, they have fans. And a video posted on YouTube by user DÆrik proves it.
In the video, Erik documented the transformation of his plain-looking garage to a Tesla showroom. He painted the wall red, installed the Tesla sign and even completed the look with the same stools and table that Tesla uses in several of its showrooms.
You can check out the entire process in the video and let us know what you think in the comments.

MSI's next-gen Z270 motherboards teased, Kaby Lake ready
'Tis the season for Kaby Lake leaks, with MSI ready to unleash their Z270 and H270 motherboards during CES 2017 - but the leaks are here, and MSI's new boards are looking mighty fine. MSI's 200-series motherboards include the GAMING, Tomahawk, Bazooka, and Pro brands - making me want to build a new gaming PC with a "Bazooka" themed motherboard.
MSI's next-gen 200-series motherboard lineup:
Now, onto the motherboards that piqued my interest. Starting with the MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon, which rocks some beautiful Mystic Light RGB goodness, we have 4 x DDR4 DIMM slots that support 4000MHz+ RAM in OC mode. The DDR4 DIMM slots are protected by MSI's steel armor which will protect the PCB of the motherboard when installing your RAM.

LG's new 1080p projector bright enough for daytime use
LG has just unveiled their new ProBeam compact last projector, sporting a 1080p resolution and 2000 lumens of brightness - perfect for a budget home theater, and better yet - it can be used during the day.
The new LG ProBeam should throw out a sharp picture from its light 4.6 pound design, with its table-friendly form factor making it easy to setup and tweak when needed. Not only that, but ProBeam is capable of throwing audio to any Bluetooth speaker through its Sound Sync Adjustment technology, meaning you don't need to worry about that massive tangle of wires from your projector to your speakers.
LG has also included wireless mirroring through Miracast, so you can throw movies, TV episodes and videos from your smartphone or tablet onto the LG ProBeam. This makes the ProBeam a great choice for those with a smaller house or apartment, or as LG teases, let's you "stream TV shows on a camping trip", Linus style.

The first wave of LG's UltraFine 5K displays ship soon
If you're based in the US and ordered one of LG's new UltraFine 5K Displays, then your monitor will be shipped in the next few days - as Apple is now sending out pre-shipping notifications.
MacRumors reader Jesse, placed an order for one an LG UItraFine 5K Display when the order window was open in late November, and has recently received a notification that his 5K display will be delivered on December 28/29. Apple began taking orders for the LG UltraFine 5K Display on November 28 with 6-8 week shipping estimates, but the supplies were diminished quickly, with no more available to order.
The 5K monitor went on sale again today, with a shipping estimate of 3-5 business days, quickly slipping out to 2-4 weeks. Those who ordered quickly this morning should hopefully receive their new LG UltraFine 5K display later this month.

The Division patched on PS4 Pro: native 1080p, 4K menus
The Division has received a patch for the PS4 Pro version of the game, which will now natively render at 1080p, while the UI will be displayed in 4K.
Ubisoft Massive notes that the improved 1080p resolution will also include better looking shadows and reflections, but it still won't hold a candle to the high-end PC side of things where you can enjoy native 4K resolution, HBAO+, PCSS, HFTS, and every graphical setting maxed out if you have the PC horsepower to handle it.
Also remember, that DX12 support was recently added to The Division for PC gamers.

Crytek closing 5 studios to 'refocus' on its strengths
Crytek has been going through its fair share of problems, with our last story on the company seeing rumors that the gaming studio wasn't paying its staff - and now comes the news that it is shutting down 5 of its studios in South Korea, China, Bulgaria, Hungary and Turkey.
The reason? Crytek wants to "refocus on its core strengths of developing innovative games and game-development technology". This leaves just two Crytek studios open, with one based on Germany and the other in the Ukraine, with these studios shutting their doors:
Crytek co-founder and Managing Director Avni Yerli said in a press release: "Undergoing such transitions is far from easy, and we'd like to sincerely thank each and every staff member - past and present - for their hard work and commitment to Crytek. These changes are part of the essential steps we are taking to ensure Crytek is a healthy and sustainable business moving forward that can continue to attract and nurture our industry's top talent. The reasons for this have been communicated internally along the way. Our focus now lies entirely on the core strengths that have always defined us - world-class developers, state-of-the-art technology and innovative game development, and we believe that going through this challenging process will make us a more agile, viable, and attractive studio, primed for future success".

HTC to unveil something 'For U' on January 12th
HTC just sent out invitations for an event on January 12th. Weird timing considering it's not even a week after CES, but I guess that's just how HTC rolls.
There is absolutely no information of what to expect, and to my email, HTC diplomatically responded with "More information will be revealed in the coming weeks before the announcement."
The invitation has a sign "For U" with HTC's logo where the letter "C" is also highlighted. The first thing that came to my mind is that HTC might unveil something related to Under Armour, a company with whom they already cooperated on some wearables.
