New Moto G5 Plus leak shows rear panel
Lenovo is expected to announce the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus very soon, possibly in March.
Specs and images of the Moto G5 Plus have already leaked, and now a new image showed up on Weibo. The image shows the rear panel of the device and the design confirms what we have seen in the earlier photos.
The device will be bigger and more powerful than the G5. It should have a 5.5-inch display and a Snapdragon 625 processor. The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The camera should have 12MP, and the battery capacity is expected to be 3,000 mAh.

iPhone X has wireless charging, and it's about damn time
Apple is the last major smartphone maker to not leap into the warm, embracing arms of wireless charging freedom - but it seems with its ambitious iPhone X smartphone, Apple will finally adopt wireless charging.
The new rumors are coming from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is normally pretty spot on with rumors, stating that all three new iPhone 8 models will have wireless charging tech. Apple adding wireless charging to the new fleet of phones will be expensive, but with rumors of the iPhone X costing over $1000 - wireless charging better be included - or else the expensive price begins to be scrutinized even more.
We should also expect an upgraded 3D Touch module that will add an "additional graphite sheet lamination" to the new iPhone, which will reportedly keep the new iPhone from overheating. Kuo said: "While we don't expect general users to notice any difference, lamination of an additional graphite sheet is needed for better thermal control and, thus, steady operation; this is because FPCB is replaced with film, which is more sensitive to temperature change of the 3D touch sensor in OLED iPhone".

Samsung foldable phones might arrive in 2018
Although we won't see the Galaxy S8 at this year's MWC, there are rumors that Samsung might show their foldable smartphone to their partners.
A new report says that Samsung might not launch the foldable smartphone until next year with the mass production starting in H2 2018.
The main reason for the delay is said to be technical issues involving the key component of foldable smartphones.

HMD's first Nokia-branded phone arrives in Europe
HMD Global has launched two Nokia-branded devices so far - the Nokia 150 and Nokia 6. Both devices were available only in China, until now.
The Nokia 150 is as of this week available in Netherlands for a price of 37 euros (around $39). This might not be the phone that the Dutch wanted, and they would probably be happier with the release of the first Nokia-branded Android smartphone, the Nokia 6, but it shows that Nokia does plan to expand outside of Asia.
The phone comes in two versions - Nokia 150 and Nokia 150 Dual SIM. Both phones have 2.4-inch QVGA screen with a resolution of just 320 x 240 pixels. They come with a built-in FM radio and MP3 player.

Gabe Newell: Valve developing 3 full-length VR games
We all know who Gabe Newell is, but for those of you living under a rock - Newell is the boss of Valve, the company behind Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, DOTA2, oh - and that little thing called Steam.
Gabe recently said Valve is working on 3 full-length VR games, and these new games won't be small VR demos like The Lab. Newell said that the games will use both Unity and Valve's in-house Source 2 engine to build the new VR games, but Newell also teased that Valve is working on a separate single-player title - something he said in January.
It seems Valve is going down the Nintendo route with the development of what these Valve-built VR games, as Newell had some interesting things to say: "So one of the questions you might ask us is 'Why in the world are we making hardware?' So right now, we're building 3 VR games. And what we can do now is to be designing hardware at the same time that we're designing software. This is something that [Nintendo Representative Director Shigeru] Miyamoto has always had, right?".

UE4-powered Insurgency: Sandstorm looks AMAZING
New World Interactive is working on something that might be a surprise with Insurgency: Sandstorm, with the Unreal Engine 4 powered first-person shooter to be more fleshed out than the FPS games we're used to. The developer has been working on new features, which will include:
Insurgency: Sandstorm will have a very strong single player component, where up to 4 gamers can play together. New World Creative Director Andrew Spearin explains the first-person shooter story modes that plague games now, and how Insurgency: Sandstorm will be different:

Chinese factory: 250% productivity boost without humans
The world is quickly stumbling into the world of fully autonomous everything, and it looks like factories are going to really win with robots if the results of a Chinese factory are anything to go by.
Changying Precision Technology Company (CPTC) replaces 600 human workers with robots, and saw a gigantic 250% increase in productivity, while they also noted an 80% decrease in defects. Factory workers can't be happy with that, as I don't think that even with the best training, they could provide a 250% productivity boost overnight like their robotic overlords did.
CPTC has 60 human workers remaining, which will be sliced down to just 20 in the coming months. Now we've all got to sit back and think: where will we all be in 10-20 years, and is your job truly safe from robotics or a fully advanced AI-based system?

Zuckerberg teases Oculus Rift prototype gloves
As it stands, Oculus only has its newly released Oculus Touch controllers for the Rift available - but there are far better wars of getting input into the world of VR - and one of those ways, would be from the use of gloves.
Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg has been playing with prototype gloves for the Rift, as he talked about visiting the Oculus Research lab in Redmond, Washington - where he had some hands-on time with the new prototype VR gloves.
The Oculus Research team is led by Michael Abrash, with Zuckerberg saying that the team focuses on "things like advanced optics, eye tracking, mixed reality and new ways to map the human body. The goal is to make VR and AR what we all want it to be: glasses small enough to take anywhere, software that lets you experience anything, and technology that lets you interact with the virtual world just like you do with the physical one".

Call of Duty is going 'back to its roots' this year
Even though Call of Duty is one of the strongest franchises, Activision is aware there are improvements that can be made to the 2017 release of Call of Duty from Sledgehammer Games.
The company said it would be returning to the franchises "roots" with the new COD, something it teased during their recent conference call with investors. Activision COO Thomas Tippl said that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare had "underperformed [Activision's] expectations". This is said to be partly due to Infinite Warfare being a new sub-series, so it's hard to compare it against Black Ops.
Tippl continued: "[I]t's clear that, for a portion of our audience, the space setting just didn't resonate. We have a passionate, experienced studio deeply committed to this direction, and despite the risks we saw, we believe it is important to consider the passions of our game teams in deciding what content to create".

AMD R7 1700 processor could be priced at just $320
Intel has just teased its next-gen Core i3/i5/i7-8000 series processors, and we know that AMD will release its new Ryzen CPUs led by the R7 1800X in just a few weeks time.
Now we're seeing some preliminary pricing on the higher-end Ryzen CPUs, with pricing leaked by shopblt.com, the same retailer that has listed AMD's previous CPUs with good accuracy. I've rounded up the prices, which is where we could expect them to fall when they're announced in the next couple of weeks.
Remember that all of these processors are 8C/16 threads, which means they'll offer multi-threaded performance close to what Intel provides for $1000+ with its Core i7-6900K, and gaming performance in the range of the Core i7-6700K/7700K processors.

Intel runs scared: Core i7-8700K preparing for AMD Ryzen
As I've said in previous articles, Intel is scared of AMD for the first time in a very long time - and now we have even more proof: Intel has already started teasing their next generation Core i7-8000 series processors, led by what I'm sure will turn out to be the Core i7-8700K.
Intel's next shift into the 14nm+ and new architecure will provide a 15% increase over the current generation Core i7-7000 series CPUs, and they should be branded as the Core i3/i5/i7-8000 series, to better fight Ryzen and its flagship R7 1800X processor - and the refreshed Ryzen CPUs that I'm sure we'll see later this year and early 2018.
Intel is planning to launch its new 8000-series processors in the second half of 2017, so we should expect some news about the new CPUs during Computex 2017 in June. Intel is already set to reveal two new CPUs to better fight AMD and its upcoming Ryzen processors, but the news of the Core i7-8000 series is a little surprising... especially this early in the game.

Destiny 2 re-confirmed for 2017 release
Activison's latest quarterly earnings filings re-confirm Destiny 2 will launch sometime this year, and expect the same kind of DLC/microtransaction roadmap to carry forth to the sequel.
We haven't heard much about Destiny 2 in a while, but publisher Activision has allayed Guardians' fears in its latest financials: "Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise's global reach, which along with
follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth," reads the quote.

Intel's new $7 billion facility to make 7nm chips in US
Intel has just announced a massive $7 billion investment to create the "most advanced semiconductor factory in the world" on United States soil.
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich announced the new investment alongside U.S. President Donald Trump, and the deal is expected to be a boon for Intel as well as the United States. Intel's new facility will be called Fab 42, and will push Moore's Law even further by making 7nm chips and processors.
Fab 42 will take three to four years to complete and will create more than 3,000 high-wage jobs for engineers and technicians as well as 10,000 long-term jobs in the facility's central location in Chandler, Arizona. Apart from the benefits provided by President Trump's business incentives, Fab 42 was built to "help the U.S. maintain its position as the global leader in the semiconductor industry."

Galaxy S8 will have 3,000 mAh battery, S8 Edge 3,500 mAh
A new report from Samsung confirms the previous leaks by Evan Blass that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will pack 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh battery.
This means that the S8 will have the same battery capacity as the Galaxy S7, while the S8 Edge will have a slightly smaller battery than the S7 edge which had 3,600 mAh.

Ubisoft PC game sales eclipsed by PS4 three to one
Ubisoft's latest third quarter financials revealed some not so surprising sales results: more gamers play Ubisoft games on PS4 than Xbox One and PC combined.
Due to accessibility and ease-of-use consumers typically choose consoles over PC for their gaming needs, and Sony's PlayStation 4 has utterly dominated console sales throughout its lifetime. Ubisoft reinforces that point in their latest earnings report which confirms the PS4 platform accounted for nearly half of all Ubisoft game sales sold throughout the last nine months (April 1 - Dec. 31, 2016). In fact, PS4 game sales in both the last three-month quarter and nine-month half-year were more than Xbox One and PC combined.
The report states that in the last nine months the PS4 saw 42% of all Ubisoft game sales, whereas Xbox One trailed behind at 25% and the PC platform comprised 16% of sales. In the three-month third-quarter period from Oct. 1 - Dec. 31, 2016, PS4 continued to dominate at 46% of all game sales, with the Xbox One at 26% and the PC dropping to 13%.

Ubisoft already has strong confidence in 2018's games
Ubisoft today announced their third quarter earnings for the current fiscal year, but the company is already making forecast predictions on its 2018-2019 earnings. This pretty much tells us that Ubisoft has high visibility into their development pipeline and likes what they see, hinting big-name Ubisoft games like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry could be on the way.
I noticed something interesting while combing Ubisoft's current financials report: they've already "confirmed targets for fiscal year 2018-2019" despite the fact that 2017 just started. To understand why this is a big deal, we have to do a little clarification on the differences between calendar year and fiscal year and the timelines.
Ubisoft's Fiscal Years start on April 1 and end on March 31 the following year--for example, the current Fiscal Year, FY2017, started on April 1, 2016 and ends on March 31, 2017.

Huawei to unveil the Honor V9 on February 21st
While we are waiting for MWC and hopefully the announcement of the P10 and P10 Plus, Huawei has decided to unveil the Honor V9 a week before their Barcelona event.
According to a teaser, the device will be unveiled on February 21st. Previous leaks reveal that the Honor V9 will come with a 5.7-inch QHD display.
The device will be powered by an octa-core 2.4GHz processor, and it will come in variants with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

South Park: Fractured But Whole possibly delayed again
South Park: Fractured But Whole is now slated to release from fiscal year 2017-2018, which is Ubisoft's way of saying it's been delayed as far as March 31, 2018.
The next South Park game has already been delayed once, but now it may not even meet its tentative 2017 release window. South Park: Fractured But Whole was first delayed from its original holiday 2016 to TBA 2017, and there it remains.
Now it's worth understanding that there's still a chance the game could release in 2017. Ubisoft's FY2018 (Ubisoft says fiscal year 2017-2018 to give you an idea what actual calendar years are included, but it's still the company's Fiscal Year 2018 timeline) is from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. So South Park: Fractured But Whole could release at any point during that twelve-month period.
