Core i7-7700K overclocked to 7.2GHz with liquid helium
Intel's current Core i7-7700K processor is a beast on its own, but at 7.2GHz? That's another story, something that German overclocker 'der8auer' has hit, using liquid helium.
The overclocking milestone for the 7700K was reached at the ASUS Absolute Zero event, and overclocking event that saw Der8auer pushing the CPU to 7.2GHz using liquid helium cooling. Liquid helium is impressive, as it sits at an insanely cold -296C (around 70C lower than liquid nitrogen).
Liquid helium cooling is more expensive than LN2, but it does go 70C lower than LN2. Are we looking at the next level of overclockers using liquid helium, which costs around $4300 for 33oz of the super-cool stuff.

Intel preparing new Kaby Lake CPUs to battle AMD Ryzen
AMD is preparing an onslaught of 17 processors in its Ryzen family, and while I personally think Intel will be dropping prices on their CPUs as they're - for the first time in years - preparing for big competition in the consumer CPU game.
Intel is reportedly preparing two new Kaby Lake CPUs in the form of the Core i7-7740K and Core i5-7640K, which will both rock higher clock speeds, but also a higher TDP. The Core i7-7740K will 'replace' the Core i7-7700K (because it's been so long since it was released) and will feature the same 4C/8T goodness from the Kaby Lake architecture, on the 14nm+ process node.
The purported Core i7-7740K will have a 4.3GHz base clock speed, while boosting up to 4.5GHz - it'll also have 8MB of L3 cache, and a 112W TDP.

Forza dev working on open-world game, may be new Xbox IP
UK-based Playground Games is best known for its high-profile Forza Horizon racing series, but the team has opened up a separate games studio to work on an entirely different project.
Playground founder Ralph Fulton confirmed that the new game wouldn't have anything to do with racing. In fact, it'll be an open-world type of game set in an entirely different genre than the studio is used to, and the project might even be the new Xbox IP that Microsoft exec Phil Spencer recently teased.
Microsoft's Xbox brand has worked closely with Playground for the Forza Horizon series, and this could be a unique opportunity to create something fresh.

3DS supported alongside Switch 'for the time being'
Since Nintendo's new Switch hybrid system is an all-in-one combination of the 3DS' handheld mobility with a Wii U's centralized console-and-tablet hardware, 3DS owners have been worried that their beloved handheld's days are numbered. While Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima says the systems will continue to live on, he also delivers some clues that this competing hardware relationship will come to an end at some point--possibly sooner than we think.
"We believe the 3DS can coexist with Nintendo Switch for the time being," Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said during the company's recent Corporate Management Policy Briefing.
Just let that sink in a bit...especially that last part, that whole "for the time being" part.

Devs can 'easily' port PC games to the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has made a strong effort to ensure its new Switch handheld-console hybrid supports modern games engines and APIs like Unreal Engine, Unity and Vulkan, giving developers tons of powerful and flexible options. Nintendo exec Shigeru Miyamoto affirms that porting cross-platform games onto the Switch can be done 'easily,' and adapting a PC game to the Switch would only take a year.
"Third-party developers who are making software for PC can now easily adapt that software to work on our platform. In the current development environment, Iʼd say that it would take less than a year for them to port a PC game to Nintendo Switch," Miyamoto said during Nintendo's Corporate Management Policy Briefing.
Miyamoto goes on to proudly state that the company's devs have "mastered" the flexible toolsets like Unreal Engine, and that Japanese devs are now on par to Western games developers:

Square Enix predicts $2.2 billion yearly earnings spike
Square Enix recently published its third quarter earnings report, and things are looking good for the Final Fantasy publisher. Total nine-month net sales are up by 24% year-over-year thanks to strong game sales, but the most interesting tidbit is the rather massive earnings spike the publisher expects to see at the end of the fiscal year. In fact, corporate expects net sales to rocket in just three months time, pushing its net sales to just over $2.2 billion.
In a nine-month period from April to December 2016, Square Enix generated a total of 190 billion yen in net sales, or about $1.68 billion USD. Three of Square Enix's four yearly quarters have passed, leaving the last three-month quarter (Q4 2017) which ends on March 2017. The publisher's forecast for the entire net sales of Fiscal Year 2017 is 250 to 270 billion yen, which is at least approximately 60 billion yen over their current nine-month earnings.
The timing is key here: Square Enix will have a three month period from Jan. 1 to Mar. 31 to generate that 60 billion yen, or about $533.4 million dollars.

Final Fantasy XV made Square Enix's money back day one
Final Fantasy XV took quite some time to develop and represented a big investment on Square Enix's part. We don't know exactly how much the publisher spent to make the game, nor do we have official details on the game's regional sales figures--there's been speculation that it didn't meet its sales projections in Japan despite strong interest in the West. What we do know for sure, however, is that the game isn't being sold at a loss.
Hajime Tabata, who oversaw Final Fantasy XV's development, recently told DualShockers' Giuseppe Nelva that the experimental action RPG recouped Square Enix's full investment cost in its first day. In lieu of official figures, Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy XV shipped 6 million digital and physical units across the globe to become the fastest-selling game in the entire franchise.
Square Enix has also just announced its Q3 2017 earnings so we can get a better picture on how its major flagship games like Final Fantasy XV performed during the quarter.

LG G6 comes to the US in April, before Galaxy S8
LG is set to unveil their latest flagship in Barcelona on February 26th. We've seen numerous leaks about the G6, so we are not expecting many surprises.
The device will come with a dual camera and a fingerprint sensor in the back. The G6 will have USB Type-C port like the G5 did. Other rumors also suggest that the G6 will have a 5.7-inch display and it will probably be water resistant, unlike the G5.
Unfortunately, the G6 won't feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 but instead, will have Snapdragon 821.

Vizio sold TV viewing habits without permission
Vizio has been tracking, selling your TV viewing habits - in something that we've found out from a settlement with the FTC and the New Jersey Attorney General, costing Vizio a swift $2.2 million.
The $2.2 million settlement will settle the state and federal charges placed against Vizio, as the company were busted installing software on 11 million smart TVs to track viewing histories, all without consumer knowledge. Vizio is being order ed to delete any user data that was scooped up before March 1, 2016.
Vizio was busted working with a third-party company to build its smart TVs that were capable of capturing "second-by-second" viewing information about what's being displayed on the screen. This information captured includes what was on your cable, internet, set-top boxes, DVD players, over-the-air broadcasts, and other streaming devices.

DRM giant forgets to secure server, log files leaked
Denuvo has been in the headlines lately with the DRM-maker being a part of some of the biggest games of the last 12 months, and now the company is faking something very different - with a massive chunk of private web-form messages being leaked.
The first messages appeared on 4chan, with the messages including contact between game developers and Denuvo. The 11MB file has messages from Denuvo's public contact form, with messages from all the way back to April 25, 2014 - furthermore, it seems like their web database content is totally unsecured, with root directors for "fileadmin" and "logs" opened at the time of writing.
There are also messages from game developers like 343 Industries asking Denuvo about applying their DRM tech to Halo Wars games on the PC, Harmonix Games asked about an in-person meeting during GDC this year, and Capcom asked for a few things, too. Other developers including Ninja Theory and TaleWords also saw their private messages with Denuvo opened to the world.

Amazon teases drone delivery as 'Prime Air' in the US
Amazon is making big moves to take over the skies with drone deliveries, teasing its purported Prime Air delivery service during the Super Bowl this year.
The company ran what would've been a very expensive ad spot, showing a couple sitting on the couch - with the man licking the Doritos' dust from his fingers, with the woman then gives a sarcastic reply to Amazon Echo. She says: "Alexa, reorder Doritos from Prime Air", with Echo replying with: "Ok, look for delivery soon" and then a drone comes into focus... beautiful, convenient - and the future of me being even lazier.

AMD hits LG, Vizio products with patent infringement
AMD is getting confident against some very large companies over a patent infringement, with LG, MediaTek, Vizio, and Sigma Designs all in AMD's crosshairs right now.
AMD filed the claim last month, saying that the four companies are manufacturing products that infringe on two patents filed by ATI, and one owned by AMD as well. The patent infringements claim that the companies are infringements with unified shaders, graphics processing architecture, and parallel pipeline graphics systems.
An interesting take on AMD's pursuit is that MediaTek, LG, Vizio, and Sigma Designs normally license their GPU technology from third-party companies like Imagination and ARM. AMD is now suing the manufacturers direct, versus the physical products that the companies are making. AMD is alleging that the infringed products include MediaTek's Helio P10 processor that powers a few LG smartphones, while the Sigma Design SX7 (STV7701) processor for 4K TVs with HDR support, something Vizio uses inside of their high-end TVs.
