Anthem was running on GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in SLI at E3 2018
EA showed its next big thing during E3 2018, but we've had no idea what was powering Anthem inside of the PCs during the show... until now.
Anthem was powered by not just one, but two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards in SLI in order to hit 4K 60FPS. Until now, EA and NVIDIA said that a single GTX 1080 Ti was used, but Anthem's executive producer Mark Darrah has come to the rescue on his Twitter with the real deal.
Darrah said that the Anthem team will be optimizing game code right up until they ship it, but if EA were hitting 4K 60FPS on dual GTX 1080 Ti cards in SLI, then I expect out-of-the-box SLI support no questions asked. Alright, EA? Anything less is now a slap in the face.

Just Cause 4's sandbox aims to be biggest ever
Avalanche Studios is pushing the sandbox-style chaos to the max with Just Cause 4.
Just Cause 4 looks to be the definitive game in the series for many reasons, and the newly minted E3 footage shows how far Avalanche has come with its proprietary Apex engine. The game will once again chronicle Rico's explosive escapades across a veritable sandbox playground, and according to game director Francesco Antolini this one should be the best yet.
"[With Just Cause 4] we wanted to make the best open-world sandbox ever, to give the sandbox the biggest possibility of expression. We wanted to push our physics to their boundaries, and we wanted to get back to a feeling of variety and discovery that I feel we had lost a little bit in Just Cause 3," Just Cause 4 game director Francesco Antolini told Game Reactor.

EA tries new engagement tactic with Battlefield promo
In order to build up anticipation for the next Battlefield game, EA and DICE have launched an interesting promo that's specifically aimed at the publisher's cash crop: engagement.
Like the top publishers in the games industry, EA is all about engagement-driven revenues. Propelled by successful engagement strategies in its lineup of online games, EA's live services segment raked in a massive $2.96 billion last fiscal year, proving the company is quite adept at cashing in on its games' millions-strong playerbases. But like developers who are constantly iterating their games, EA is keen on finding new unique ways to not only build but retain engagement monetization...and it might've just found a new stride.
EA's new Road to Battlefield V promo seems to be a new method. The promotion has two main goals: to hype up Battlefield V and to keep gamers playing both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 up until the WW2 shooter's big launch and potentially spending money. By giving out every single BF1 and BF4 expansion for free EA and DICE are strongly incentivizing users to not only return to each game, but also keep playing with rotating playlists and other rewards.

Spider-Man features the Avengers Tower, no Baxter building
From the demo's that we have seen of Insomniac Games' upcoming Spider-Man, there are some clear aspects included within the game that is a wink towards Marvel's Cinematic Universe. But what about what Insomniac Games decided to not include?
Passing over the E3 2018 coverage of the title, fans dissected the games hidden easter eggs found throughout the concrete jungle of New York City. Gamers were excited to see that the Avengers Tower is apart of the cities skyline, but couldn't help to notice that the Baxter Building, the home of The Fantastic Four was not included.
A fan posed this question to Bryan Intihar, the Creative Director at Insomniac Games, saying that "Brian I please beg you to put the Baxter Building in the game! The Fox ban is over and they're getting their comic relaunched soon! Marvel's First family needs some attention! If It wasnt for them Spider-Man would never be a success!" This is a very good point but Intihar decided shut down this possibility quite bluntly, saying "Sorry but it's not in the game."

Fortnite could soon offer time travel element/Japanese theme
Fortnite could soon be changing in a big way, with developer Epic Games teasing on Twitter that it's preparing for Season 5 in a big, big way.
Season 5 of the game begins in the next 72 hours, so Epic took to Twitter to tease a kabuki kitsune mask, and then infused it with the crack in the sky from the recent event during S4. There's nothing else here to dissect, but we know this is a huge S5 tease and it looks like either time travel or an expansion of the current superhero theme.
Both of which, would be awesome. Destructoid reports that it could be a "sort of spiritual tie-in to Japanese folklore", which would be great as well.

Microsoft targets the iPad with its new Surface Go for $399
Microsoft has just turned the heat up on the mid-range tablet market with the announcement of their new Surface Go, a successor to the Surface 3 that costs just $399.
Surface Go is the smallest and cheapest 10-inch tablet on offer from Microsoft, weighing in at just 1.15 pounds - 0.25 pounds lighter than the Surface 3, and a smidgen heavier than the 1.03-pound iPad. The new Surface Go is super-thin as well, at just 8.9mm thick you can put it anywhere. Microsoft is wanting to offer the Surface Go to people who use it all the time, so it has to be thin and portable enough to throw into your bag.
The new Surface Go has the same 3:2 aspect ratio of other Surface slates, with Microsoft's iconic kickstand that lets the tablet open up to a huge 165 degrees. Perfect for the plane, or your lap while on the bus or train. Microsoft has kept the rather large bezels, but a Microsoft representative said this was a design choice as it makes it easier to hold the Surface Go without your fingers getting in the way of the screen.

Samsung begins production of 96-layer V-NAND memory
Samsung began mass production of 5th generation V-NAND flash memory with 96-layers.
Samsung must not like paying second place to Micron's new 64-layer flash memory found in products like the MX500 and SX8200. The company just announced mass production of 5th generation V-NAND memory with a new high-speed memory interface, lower power, and another massive reduction in write latency.
This is Samsung's first 96-layer memory but the current production version will not increase SSD sizes. Samsung chose to build 256Gbit die (32GB) first, the same size used on most Samsung consumer SSDs today. The press release went on to mention a future 1Tbit (128GB) size to follow soon in both TLC and QLC flavors.

RTG secures ex-Intel guru that will help the Radeon team
AMD has lost a few people to Intel in the last year, and now they're fighting back by securing an ex-Intel executive who served as the Vice President, Core and Visual Computing Group, Chief Engineer, VTT and Director of Hardware and Co-Director of Architecture, VPG at Intel. Martin Ashton had a huge title at AMD.
Ashton was with Intel for just 21 months, and before joining Chipzilla hs worked in the UK with Imagination Technologies. Imagination Technologies, in case you didn't know, made the PowerVR GPUs that went over to Apple, with Ashton moving to Intel before that happened. And now as Intel is slipping in more ways than one, Ashton has jumped ship to AMD.
AMD reached out to me to let me know that Martin will be joining the Radeon Technologies Group and will "drive architecture and execution of Radeon graphics IP that will extend across our discrete graphics, integrated graphics, and semi-custom products".

Intel has held the highest post with enthusiast CPUs in the HEDT market with its Extreme Edition brand of processors, a range of chips that had no compromises and represented the best of Intel in the enthusiast market.
According to Francois Piednoel, ex-Principal Engineer, Performance Architect / System Architect at Intel, the company is about to retire its Extreme Edition brand of processors. Piednoel posted on his personal Twitter account saying: "The #ExtremeEdition Brand is about to get killed. What a big mistake", and I totally agree with that last bit... what a huge mistake Intel would be making if they are indeed killing off the Extreme Edition brand.

Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams hangs up Arya Starks shoes
Everyone's favorite sneaky assassin from the medieval fantasy show Game of Thrones has completed her final days of filming for the highly anticipated 8th and final season. Yes, that's right, Maisie Williams has both metaphorically and physically hung up her shoes for Arya Stark.
Williams posted a new photo to her Instagram page Maisie_Williams, it revealed the news that she has completed her final shootings for the show. The caption reads as follows "goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i've had. here's to the adventures to come." Most interesting though is the hastags that Williams decided to use, "#lastwomanstanding #barely" raises the question; is Ayra Stark the last character to survive after the final season and what was the price she paid to receive the hashtag "barely."
Season 8 will be directed by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. It has been reported that the new season will only be six episodes long, but each of the episodes will be the length of a standard movie. After the final season of Game of Thrones, the franchise will continue forward with Entertainment Weekly reporting that a pilot has been ordered by HBO that is "taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones."
