Hollow Knight the hand-drawn Metroidvania title developed by Team Cherry has been quite the successful in the indie genre. Team Cherry are currently celebrating the launch of Hollow Knight on the Nintendo Switch but now have something else to cheer about, Hollow Knight has reached 1 million copies sold on PC.
Nintendo America's President Reggie Fils-Aime, discussed Hollow Knight coming to the Nintendo Switch and said that the game is selling quite well on that platform, confirming 250,000 copies sold. The PC news comes from Kotaku who interviewed Team Cherry via email, here is what Team Cherry's Ari Gibson had to say "Hollow Knight's success has in large part been driven by it's many fans on PC, with the game having now sold over 1 million copies for Windows, Mac & Linux (crossing that mark just 1 day before the Nintendo Switch launch)."
Gibson also mentions the fact that throughout the launching of Hollow Knight on the Nintendo Switch the company missed celebrating the achievement of reaching 1 million copies sold on PC "kinda flew under our radar because of the madness around E3/Switch launch." The company never actually "publicly mentioned hitting the million mark on PC" but still do recognize that is "another big milestone!" In total, Hollow Knight has hit the 1.25 million copies sold mark, and with more DLC content around the corner who knows how far this indie can go.

GeForce GTX 1160 6GB notebook GPU rumored for Q4 2018 launch
NVIDIA is expected to unveil their next-gen GeForce GTX 11 series graphics card later this month, with a release in August/September as per our previous exclusive reports, but what about gaming notebooks?
Well, it looks like the GeForce GTX 1160 could fly in and save the day during the holidays according to LaptopMedia who are reporting the GTX 1160 6GB mobile GPU will be used inside of the updated Lenovo Legion Y530 notebook, a notebook that currently packs the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti depending on which model you buy.
We have no idea what to expect from the new GeForce GTX 1160 in mobile form, but we should expect NVIDIA to use tap that new GDDR6 technology which will give the mid-range GPU a nice bump in any laptop it powers. We could expect a rather large 336GB/sec from 6GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus, which would be a large performance jump that would bring it up to the 320GB/sec that the GTX 1080 pumps out with its GDDR5X.

Call of Duty 2019 teases 'multiple next-gen' platforms
Infinity Ward is knee deep into developing Call of Duty for 2019, with the developer allegedly making the next-gen Call of Duty game for "multiple next-gen platforms".
The tease of next-gen consoles and Call of Duty 2019 comes from a recent job listing for Infinity Ward, with the job listing stating: "Come work with the game industry's brightest on a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next gen platforms". We can add one and one together to see that the new exciting announced title is Call of Duty, but whatever it is the tease of "multiple next gen platforms" is even more exciting.
The job listing continues: "In this hands-on role, you'll collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences - from combat to set-pieces".

Battlefield V benched: RX 580 smacks down GTX 1060
EA pumped out the Battlefield V closed alpha on the PC last week, with plenty of people testing it out and seeing what the performance of the game is like in its very, very early state with some truly impressive results.
PCGamesN has some results to share between the AMD Radeon RX 580 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics cards, with the RX 580 dominating the GTX 1060 in a very, very big way. The tests were performed at both 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 on Ultra settings with the RX 580 sitting at around 30% more performance than the GTX 1060.
Starting at 1080p we have the RX 580 pumping away at 68FPS average on DX11 while the GTX 1060 is only capable of 45FPS, while the minimums are vastly superior on the RX 580 with 56FPS minimum compared to just 34FPS on the GTX 1060. It's no better for NVIDIA with DX12 enabled, as AMD maintained 68FPS (just 1 FPS lower than DX11) while the GTX 1060 drops 4FPS (10%) down to 41FPS when DX12 is enabled at 1080p.

Intel Core i5-9600K: 6C/6T at up to 4.5GHz with 95W TDP
Intel is preparing its strange refresh/emergency release of their 9000 series based on the Coffee Lake-S architecture, with a new mid-range Core i5-9600K planned and coming soon.
The new Core i5-9600K is a 6C/6T processor with no Hyper-Threading and a slight CPU clock speed bump to usher in the new CPU. Intel will be offering up 100MHz in base clock and 200MHz in Turbo clocks over the Core i5-8600K, all staying within the same 95W TDP. The new SKUs were found in the Microcode Update and June 2018 8th Gen Core Family update, which means they're close, but not here just yet.
Intel's big selling point with the 9000 series CPUs will be the official introduction of the first 8-core CPU parts from Intel in the form of the upcoming Core i9-9900K which is an 8C/16T beast that will take on the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor. It's going to be a confusing release, compounded by the fact there'll be a "new" Z390 chipset launched at the same time.

BioWare shelf Star Wars for now, Dragon Age/Mass Effect next
BioWare's highly anticipated title 'Anthem' has gamers waiting patiently for it's release in 2019. Some gamers are already questioning what the studio has in store for us after the initial release, the General Manager for BioWare has answered these questions in a recent interview.
In a interview with Game Informer, General Manager for BioWare, Casey Hudson has spoken out about the studios plans after the company secures the launch of Anthem in 2019. During the interview, Hudson was asked if the studio's next big project would a new Star Wars game, "There are so many games that [...] we as a studio want to get to. So, one challenge is, to make a really great game on this scale really, at this point, takes the majority of the studio the size of BioWare, and we're a pretty big studio. There's so many more games that we want to make than we can't get to, so we kind of have to pick and choose and move through them. But, I've always loved Star Wars, I loved making Knights of the Old Republic. So...we're always trying to figure out what's next."
It seems that Hudson isn't too keen on the idea of coming back to make a new Star Wars game, but more so wants to concentrate the studios full efforts into getting back to the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises. "For Dragon Age and Mass Effect, we want to get back to them as soon as we can. Mass Effect is certainly a game I want to get back to. [...] It's my baby. I helped start Mass Effect, so of course we intend to get back to it at some point."

Metroid Prime 4 is 'proceeding well' says Nintendo boss
Leading into E3 2018, most Nintendo fans expected the company to reveal the next installment into the Smash series, now titled Super Smash Bros Ultimate, while some fans expected other titles to be showcased and one of those games was Metroid Prime 4.
Game Informer questioned Nintendo America President Reggis Fils-Aime on these matters and more specifically about Metroid Prime 4, his response is as follows "Last year was important to us to message to the Metroid fan that there was a Metroid Prime experience in development, as we showed Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. We didn't want that fan to say 'You just launched a new system, when are you going to bring me a Metroid on that platform?' We said it was coming."
Fils-Aime continued and said that "This year, with so many games launching effectively between [now] and the first half of next year, we wanted to focus on those games. Rest assured, Metroid Prime 4 is still in development and proceeding well." This decision was in conjunction with Nintendo wanting to "highlight a new Super Mario Party game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, give more hands-on opportunities for Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee" while at the same time making sure they "spend more time on third-party content."

Avengers: Infinity War Special Edition + 30 mins of Thanos
Fans of the latest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are going to be over the moon to know that Avengers: Infinity War won't be their last taste of Thanos. According to a source, a 'Special Edition' could be released that features a further 30 minutes of Thanos' back-story.
During Comic Con, the creator of Thanos, Jim Starlin came forward and said to Collider's Jon Schnepp that Marvel are "going to put it into a special edition Avengers: Infinity War" and that they had "to cut out a lot of the Thanos backstory." This means that Marvel fans could soon be getting a further 30 mins of Thanos, if this is true it would mean that Marvel would be adding on a massive 25% more screen-time for Infintiy War overall.
It should be noted though, since there has been no official confirmation from Marvel do take this news with a slight grain of salt. It is a reliable source but nonetheless don't expect anything until Marvel makes a statement. Here is the official quote from Schnepp "Jim Starlin found out that they're actually going to put it into a special edition Avengers: Infinity War... they weren't going to be seen as deleted scenes, they're actually going to be re-integrated into the film"

Fortnite player trolls entire server, sets record for kills
Epic Games wants the world of Fortnite to be a living game, and they get damn close with all of these events like the latest once-off event that saw a rocket launch that Fortnite players think will prepare the world for Season 5 that drops on July 12.
The exciting Fortnite event took place across all platforms simultaenously, where players teamed up and held a temporary truce so they could all watch the rocket launch. Players worked together as a community to build gigantic ramps that scaled into the sky for a better vantage point for the rocket blast. But this is where it gets even more awesome.
Players were standing shoulder-to-shoulder for the best look, so Fortnite troll Elemental_Ray destroyed their stairway seeing 48 people falling to their deaths. Elemental_Ray set the record for the most kills in a single round of Fortite, which used to be 33. Elemental_Ray if you're reading this; you beautiful troll, you. High five.

Chinese firm laser rifle burns clothes and skin at 800m
I didn't think we'd be here already but here's where we are now: we're living in a world where a Chinese firm has the aspirations to arm the country's police forces with the next generation of weapons: an assault rifle that fires lasers that burn clothes and skin at 800m away.
If that wasn't scary enough the lasers themselves are silent, and invisible, and they can pass through glass windows as well. ZKZM Laser developed the laser in collaboration with Xi'an Institute Optics and Precision Mechanics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The purposes of this rifle if were in the hands of the good guys would be the police in hostage situations, where they could use a precision laser to take the kidnapper down, without hurting the victim.
A research that worked on the super-powered ZKZM-500 rifle said that "the pain will be beyond endurance" and that it will be "non-lethal" as it doesn't kill on impact. The laser rifle weighs around the same 6.6lb of an AK-47, with a lithium battery that is good to fire over 1000 'shots' that last for two second each.

Fortnite used to recruits kids by far-right groups
Rip your children away from Fortnite, it's being used as a recruitment tool for pure evil. Yeah, so according to a "reformed neo-Nazi" the smash hit Battle Royale game is being used by "far-right groups" to "radicalize kids and recruit them into their organizations".
Christian Picciolini, a skinhead-turned-peace activist explained that his group "sought marginalized youth and promised them 'paradise'. Picciolini explained what he did on Reddit, saying that most of the tactics are still used today through "nefarious tactics like going to depression and mental health forums, and in multiplayer gaming, to recruit those same people". He explained: "They drop benign hints and then ramp up when hooked".
What games? That would be the biggest games on the planet that Picciolini named as "Fortnite, Minecraft, COD, all of them". He said that the recruitment within the games happens from "mostly foreign recruiters from Russia and eastern Europe". The ridiculous article even names the recent "gamergate" as connected to alt-right groups.

HTC to shed 1500 jobs in Taiwan, a cull of 1/4 global jobs
HTC isn't in a strong position right now, with a report coming out of Reuters that says the Taiwanese smartphone company is cutting around 1/4 of their global workforce.
These job losses will hit the Taiwan manufacturing scene, as HTC is wanting to manage their resources better as sales continue to die against Samsung and Apple. HTC said that it would cut 1500 jobs from its manufacturing unit in Taiwan, which is around 25% of their global staff that right now sits at 6450.
HTC explains: "Today HTC announces plan toust optimize the manufacturing organizations in Taiwan ... This plan will allow more effective and flexible resource management going forward". It shouldn't surprise, as HTC reported a 55% drop in revenues year-on-year in April, and a huge 46.7% drop in sales in March. Ouch.
