Valve decline rape-based game 'Rape Day' to debut on Steam
Valve has made a public annoucement regarding their thoughts towards allowing a rape-based game titled 'Rape Day' to debut on Steam. The company has declined the proposition due to "unknown risks".
Over the past week there has beens stirrings of an upcoming game to Steam library, the game is titled 'Rape Day' and allows for players to progress through a "visual novel where you control the choices of a sociopath during a zombie apocalypse." The game also allows players to "verbally harass, kill people and rape women as you choose to progress the story." Due to the explicit content of which the game contains, many people took to a petition created by Change.org to not allow the game to be published on Steam, the petition received over 8,000 votes.
Valve has recently taken to the official blog to talk about 'Rape Day' and how it will not be published on Steam. The company after "significant fact-finding and discussion" will not be debuting 'Rape Day' on Steam due to "unknown costs and risks". Valve also says that they "respect developers' desire to express themselves, and the purpose of Steam is to help developers find an audience, but this developer has chosen content matter and a way of representing it that makes it very difficult for us to help them do that".

Mortal Kombat 11: Cassie Cage & Kano make a special entrance
We are back with another character reveal trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, this time round we have Cassie Cage and Kano taking the stage.
While the reveal trailer is titled 'Cassie Cage reveal trailer' we actually see quite a bit from both of the fighters. Cassie Cage is the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, as sometime after the Netherrealm War both the characters got married before Sonya's obsession with her work took over, resulting in Johnny divorcing her. Left neglected, Cassie joined the special forces where she trained to become a skilled fighter and now leads her own team to protect Earthrealm.
Gameplay wise, Cassie's move-set is a combination of both her father's and her mother's. She uses powerful devastating kick and punching combo's, that are combined with a taste of Sonya weaponry when needed. The guns are used both up close and personal and at a range. Kano on the other hand has much less finesse when it comes to his attacks. We see brutal combinations of grapples that result in back, skull and abdominal breakage, not mention the slew of knives that are being thrown and impaled into Cassie.

Corning developing Gorilla Glass for foldable smartphones
Corning, the company behind Gorilla Glass, is working on some new glass for the wave of foldable smartphones that are right around the corner, and if they're successful will be the future of mobile technology.
The main issue that we have with the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X foldable smartphones is that they both don't have truly foldable glass, and instead use plastic polymers which are flexible of course, but they will be hit with scratches, and worse; creases. John Bayne from Corning's Gorilla Glass spoke with Wired, where he said: "In a glass solution, you're really challenging the laws of physics, in that to get a very tight bend radius you want to go thinner and thinner, but you also have to be able to survive a drop event and resist damage".
Corning hasn't made anything official outside of the interview between Bayne and Wired, and that the foldable glass could be here in a few years, which is a very long time away. We could see competitors joining the fray, beating Corning to the punch. We'll have to see how things go with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, but I'm sure we'll see flexible Gorilla Glass, or Gorilla Flex, sooner rather than later.

Duke Nukem dev to reveal Quake-powered shooter tomorrow
3D Realms has just shoved the hype meter to 11 with its surprise tease of an "unannounced Quake 1 engine shooter", tweeting that "you will not survive".
We have absolutely nothing to go on apart from the unannounced shooter using the original Quake engine that id Software created, which at the time was technologically leaps and bounds better than 3D Realms' own Build engine that powered Duke Nukem 3D. Build went onto power 90s shooter hits like Blood, Shadow Warrior, and others. Quake, well we know how successful that engine was for id Software, where even through to today it powers every single Call of Duty game with a highly modified Quake 3 engine.
But now with 3D Realms teasing a new shooter out of nowhere, on an engine that is over 20 years old? I don't even know what to expect. I'm hoping I can relive my 90s gaming days with this new game, but I simultaneously don't want to get my hopes up.

MSI gaming monitor gets shot with a real bullet, survives
Eric Gan was asleep in his apartment when he was woken to the sound of loud noises, which after it happened he discovered were coming from the street in the form of guns being shot. Random bullets were fired, with 5 of them entering Eric's room as well as his friends room and windows. His MSI Optix G27C2 monitor was hit, and survived to tell the tale.
Gan posted the images on Twitter, with one of the bullets flying into the back of his MSI Optix G27C2 gaming monitor. The bullet passed through the wall first and into the back of the display, but didn't even get all the way through the display and into the screen. Impressive stuff, and very lucky.
No one was hurt in the shooting, with MSI seeing the marketing potential and reaching out to Gan offering him a replacement monitor and other MSI-related swag. Gan was told by the police that the shooting was "random" and happened at a party across the street from his apartment.

Apex Legends Battle Pass rumored to launch on March 12
Apex Legends is the hottest game on the planet right now, with developer Respawn Entertainment racking up a record-breaking 50 million players since its launch jsut a few weeks ago. But now that we're in March, we are very close to the first Battle Pass for the game as well as its first season to kick off.
The first Battle Pass for the game reportedly kicks off on March 12, and will arrive with new Legends, weapons, and loot. While we know that the first Battle Pass will have a bunch of new content, we don't know exactly which Legends, weapons, or loot to expect. There is the loosest rumor to go by right now about the first new Legend in Apex Legends will be Octane, according to someone who took a photo of the character "off of the screen of someone working on the project". Alrighty.
Daily Esports is behind the news from a source of theirs, with the site adding that the first Battle Pass will launch on March 12 and will "not be purchasable with coins, and will be a static item in the shop". Octane is reportedly a "central promotional figure" for the Battle Pass, and "should be released either alongside the Battle Pass or just before it" according to Daily Esports' source.

Nintendo Switch VR Labo kits revealed
Today Nintendo announces an affordable and accessible solution to VR: a mass-market Labo kit specially tailored for its Switch console.
A bit ago we reported the Switch could get VR support via its innovative-yet-simple Labo cardboard kits, and this turned out to be true. The VR "headset" isn't like PSVR or Oculus Go; instead they're lower-end Toy-Con VR Goggles that create the illusion of VR. A Switch is slotted into the cardboard kit and special software adjusts the screen for VR gaming. Internal JoyCons tracking allows users to shoot cardboard blasters at aliens and other interactive activities.
Nintendo plans to release two new kits on April 12 that allow consumers to build their own VR experience. The base Nintendo Labo: VR Kit retails for a cool $40 and includes plans to make a blaster, the Toy-Con VR Goggles, and the "headset" to hold everything in place.

Mortal Kombat 11's story warps through previous games
Past and present collide in Mortal Kombat 11's new story mode.
Today Netherealm dropped a new story trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, revealing fresh info about the campaign mode. As we reported a bit ago, the game's story takes us on a time-traveling journey through the series' 25 years of brutality. Following Raiden's slaying of Shinnok and disrupting the balance between good and evil, Kronika, MK11's main villain and the Keeper of Time, resets history from the beginning. So rather than going just forward, players will go backward and relive old classic moments of triumph, mayhem, and gore--all with a twist.
The story sees Outworld and Earthrealm team up to take on Shao Kahn and his horde of minions to cure the temporal rift that's spewing chaotic time shifts across reality.

Anthem isn't breaking PS4s, BioWare says
BioWare admits Anthem is crashing PS4 consoles, but says the game can't actually break your system.
Today BioWare confirmed that Anthem is indeed crashing and resetting PS4 hardware, but contrary to reports, it can't actually destroy your console, the developer says.
"After thorough review, we have not encountered an instance where Anthem has "bricked" a PS4 console," said Anthem's head of live services Chris Robertson. "If you are experiencing anything different, please reach out to @EAHelp on Twitter so we can track the incident and investigate. Thanks for your patience."

Game Pass, Xbox LIVE, xCloud may get combined in one sub
Microsoft will soon have an arsenal of subscriptions at its disposal, but the average gamer won't pay full price for all three. Microsoft needs to bundle its subscriptions into a cohesive, lower-cost plan.
In a recent episode of the Sams Report, Thurrot.com writer Brad Sams articulated a solution to a problem I'd long thought about: Microsoft could combine its three main powerhouses into one lower-cost subscription plan. Right now Microsoft enjoys large cashflows from separate subscriptions like Xbox LIVE Gold, which is required to play online games, and Xbox Game Pass, which gives all-you-can-download access to over 100 different games.
The two services are perfectly synergized to fuel each other. Game Pass needs Xbox LIVE Gold to play online and sparks game sales on the store, and Xbox LIVE sparks community engagement that's used organically in Game Pass.

Master Chief Collection coming to PC, possibly via Game Pass
Microsoft plans to make a huge splash in PC gaming by releasing the biggest Halo anthology onto the platform.
Sources tell Windows insider Brad Sams that the Master Chief Collection is coming soon to Windows 10 PCs, and Game Pass could be a big part of this rollout. "It's an open secret that Microsoft is working on The Master Chief Collection on PC, and I'm hearing that's close to release," Sams said in a recent episode of The Sams Report.
It's likely The Master Chief Collection will be delivered via Game Pass on PC in a bid to boost subscriptions across the board. Microsoft is currently developing new technology that brings native Xbox games over to Windows 10 PCs, and it should allow Game Passes' full library of Xbox and even Xbox 360 games to be played on PC. This huge rollout of Game Pass, Halo MCC, and Windows Store optimizations could come quite soon--as soon as the next few months.

New upcoming survival RTS 'Conan Unconquered' detailed
Funcom and Petroglyph Games have released a new overview video for the upcoming real-time survival strategy game 'Conan Unconquered'. Let's see what this game can offer real-time strategy fans.
Conan Unconquered is the first strategy game built in the universe of Conan the Barbarian, and captures unique and increasingly difficult enemies that will come at the player in a wave after wave fashion. Players will be required to build and maintain their stronghold while having a unconquerable army to protect their citadel. The above video narrated by the developers Petroglyph shine a light on some of the best aspects of 'Conan Unconquered'. Petroglyph tell potential players that they will be required to maintain a lot of different resources, while at the same time being very aware of the plethora of different units that can be generated.
Conan Unconquered will also have many different technologies that can be researched. These technologies will increase the players defensive capabilities, which in turn will allow for a more sustained survival. Players will have the option of enjoying Conan Unconquered in a single player mode, or a two-player co-op mode that allows for a shared multi-player experience. The developers say they have taken a lot of inspiration from Frostpunk and from my opinion the game also draws inspiration from another survival RTS called They Are Billions. Conan Unconquered is planned for release sometime during Q2 of 2019. To follow Conan Unconquered, visit the official Twitter account here.

THQ Nordic's CEO apologizes over recent 8Chan AMA disaster
The THQ Nordic CEO has apologized over the latest fiasco surrounding the 'ask me anything' (AMA) that was recently held on 8Chan. Deeming the sites content "unethical".
Just this past week, THQ Nordic GmbH, the PR and Marketing side of the THQ Nordic did an AMA but not a regular platform. The company decided to use the 8Chan platform, which is extremely odd as the website is very well known for their explicit content that can even be taken as far as child pornography. As expected, the AMA was blasted with a series of disturbing content combined with some questions.
When asked about their franchise Destroy All Humans they responded, "We work it like an alien prostitute." Allegedly an 8chan user posted a picture of a medieval knight that was captioned, "cease all f____," (homophobic slur), THQ Nordic Business and Product Development Director, Reinhard Pollice answered, "That could be from one of our upcoming games." After what has been one week of "internal investigation", THQ Nordic GmbH has issued a new statement from THQ Nordic AB co-founder and CEO Lars Wingefors, it says;

Facebook has snuck in the 'Dark Mode' feature in the latest update of the Messenger app, the new feature can be activated by users that are both on Android and iOS devices. Here is how to do it; all you have to do is send the crescent 'moon' emoji in a chat with either yourself or someone else and the app will respond with "You found Dark Mode!" Below will be a short-cut for turning dark mode on in the settings, selecting that option you take you to the Messenger settings where you will have to select that you want dark mode to be on.

Activision-Blizzard tell the SEC that operations may be hurt
Activision-Blizzard has said in a 10-K report with the Securities and Exchange Commission some new information about the impact the company will feel from the firing of its 800 employee's.
Back at the beginning of February, we saw Activision eliminate 8% of its staff which equated to about 800 or so employee's. Now in a recent 10-K report with the SEC, the company has talked about how their restructuring goal of removing excess jobs and essentially becoming a more leaner company would impact development operations.
Activision-Blizzard are currently cashing back into their already established IP's and even planning some new ones, but since they have recently culled their employment army the expectational time-lines could be effected due to sheer man-power loss. Not only will the man-power to detrimental to the release expectations but so will the morale of the workers who managed to keep their jobs, Activision-Blizzard recognize the potential of a negative business impact.

Google Glass might be getting upgraded internals and USB-C
Google released their first wearable years ago now with the consumer-focused Google Glass not doing too well in the market, with Google pivoting to the enterprise market with Google Glass Enterprise Edition and now we're seeing the markings of new Google Glass Enterprise headset.
The new Google Glass Enterprise Edition has popped up over at 9to5Google, with the second-gen wearable having a few different, and significant changes. First off, we have fast-charging through a new USB-C port, as well as a bunch of internal changes with a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, and 3GB of RAM joining the second-gen Glass Enterprise Edition wearable. Inside, we also have Bluetooth 5.0, LTE, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity.
The camera has also been upgraded in a big way, moving from an 8-megapixel sensor to a purported 32-megapixel sensor that would see 4K 30FPS and 1080p 60FPS video recording abilities.

Rainbow Six Siege's new update weighs 54GB on the PC
Rainbow Six Siege's big new update is nearly here, with the Rainbow Six Twitter account tweeting out the install sizes for all three platforms, with the PC version of the game requiring a rather hefty 54GB download.
The new Burnt Horizon update for the game will offer up Rainbow Six Siege players with new multiplayer content based in an Australian setting, with two new playable Australian Operators, a new Outback map, and a bunch of tweaks and changes to the overall game. Ubisoft has been working overtime on the game installation sizes as they were getting out of control, so you'll need to do this one-time massive update.
Rainbow Six Siege's new update is 54GB on the PC, but 'just' 38GB on the Xbox One and 'only' 33GB on the PS4. These updates are getting out of control, especially considering the irony of the new Burnt Horizon update being based in Australia where internet connections are reknown for being crappy. These big updates don't help, and only those like myself with NBN (National Broadband Network, where some suburbs have fiber access) or cable connections will be alright.
