World War Z update roadmap features new missions/zombie/mode
The recently released Saber Interactive title World War Z has seen quite the popularity as of late, now the developer has issued out the DLC road map for the title to see if they can keep players engaged.
World War Z released back at the beginning of April and since then the title has pushed over 250,000 copies just on the Epic Games Store. Now totaling over 1 million copies sold across all platforms Saber Interactive is now working on trying to keep their playerbase stable with post-DLC content.
The roadmap has been released onto the World War Z Twitter account and shows that "In May, a brand-new mission set in Tokyo will drop alongside a terrifying zombie type that spits a deadly virus and can resurrect if not properly dispatched." Following May will be the June update that will bring a "new six-skull difficulty setting with a unique reward, as well as bonus cosmetics and more." July will feature a new "Weekly Challenge mode, plus additional cosmetics and other goodies." To go alongside these updates will be "wave-based survival mode, private lobbies, the ability to switch classes during PvPvZ matches, field of view (FOV) and level of detail sliders on PC, and more".

Sonic The Hedgehog movie director confirms 'Sonic' redesign
The internet has been subjected to quite a divide since the launch of the first Sonic The Hedgehog trailer for the upcoming live-action movie starring Jim Carrey. Fans' cries have not gone unheard as the director for the movie has confirmed Sonic will be redesigned.
There was quite the heavy amount of skepticism since early March for the Sonic live-action movie. Back in early March some 'style guide' images were leaked that showcased the design of Sonic which sparked outrage on the internet for the design of Sonic's legs, arms, hands, eyes and just overall body. Many fans claimed that Sonic looked much too like a hairy human boy and resembled almost nothing like his cartoon design or game character.
These outcries from fans have not gone unheard as the director of the movie, Jeff Fowler has taken to Twitter to say that him and his team have taken the criticism on-board and that changes will be made. Here is what Fowler said: "Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design and you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount and Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be."

PlatinumGames: two new IPs in dev, will publish own games
PlatinumGames, one of the most noteworthy independent Japanese game devs in the industry, has big plans for 2019.
This year will be incredibly important for Bayonetta and NieR: Automata developer PlatinumGames. Known for making some of the best action games on the planet, PlatinumGames has maintained independence by creating games for publishers and other companies. Now it'll start making games for itself. The studio will start shifting into a developer-publisher in 2019, making good plans set into place last year. And it's kicking off this new initiative with some exciting projects.
"Right now we're in the middle of designing something that has never been done before. I know a lot of people say that, but the game we're working on truly is unlike anything else," PlatinumGames exec Atsushi Inaba said in a recent interview with VideoGames Chronicle.

New Left 4 Dead 3 trailer is probably fake (we hope it isnt)
Left 4 Dead 3 may never come out, but it's fun to hope, right? A new "leaked" trailer piques our imaginations and makes us wonder what a third installment would be like.
A new zombie trailer has been making the rounds lately, and gamers think it could be Left 4 Dead related. The footage is incredibly well rendered and really highlights the grim, gritty feel of Valve's survival FPS franchise, and even reminds me of the new Resident Evil's atmospheric and visual tech. It's probably an elaborate fake though.
Evidence points to Left 4 Dead 3 being cancelled years ago and has been defunct ever since. Early concepts show a Middle-Eastern focus with new foreign characters, hinting the franchise could've taken us all over the world.

Anthem's leads moved to Dragon Age 4 after it shipped
Today a report says two of BioWare's key lead devs have left Anthem to work on Dragon Age 4. But this has actually been the case since Anthem shipped.
As detailed in a long expose from Kotaku, Anthem was made by two of BioWare's major studios--its Austin, Texas branch, and its main studio in Edmonton, Canada. This is the norm for all of BioWare's biggest games, and titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda were collaborative efforts. But what remains unclear to some is how the company shifts its personnel to new projects, a process that actually happens shortly after games are officially released.
Once a big game like Anthem is shipped, the core team at Edmonton moves onto the next game in the pipeline (in this case Dragon Age 4), which is typically how the AAA games industry works. In the case of Anthem, its live service handling and curation was handed off to BioWare's Austin branch after shipping, and that team now handles Anthem's evolution.

Surprise: the impossible Mad Box 4K console is probably dead
The Mad Box was always an outlandish and iffy proposition. Investors apparently think the same, and Slightly Mad has lost a lot of the funding needed to make the console happen.
For some bizarre reason, Slightly Mad Studios, the devs behind Project Cars, decided they want to make a video games console. But not just any games console--the most powerful one on the market. Nevermind the absurdity of entering a market absolutely dominated by Sony, Micorosft, and Nintendo. The so-called Mad Box would sell based on its raw next-gen power alone, and studio exec Ian Bell promised big performance with native 4K gaming and VR at 120FPS. It was a ridiculous notion then, and is still ridiculous today.
Investors apparently agree with this assessment. Two of the Max Box's biggest backers have dropped out and won't be putting up the required millions and millions to fund the console. Bell says these investors were dissuaded thanks to Google's Stadia game streaming platform, and the latest hardware details on next-gen consoles could seal the Mad Box's fate and ensure no one puts up money to fund the system.

Bloodborne board game Kickstarter, $2m pledged already
The difficulty of FromSoftware's Bloodborne is famous, but what about if we took that same difficulty and converted it to a table top game? Introducing Bloodborne: The Board Game.
Bloodborne has officially joined the other range of video games acquiring their very own table top edition last month, and now the Kickstarter project has already traversed its goal in donations. The project is being held by board game makers CMON and what the company has shown off is certainly an impressive. Proving that point is the extreme amount of support it has gotten since the time it has been made available to back, at the time of writing this the project has reached the $2,293,943 million mark.
This figure is damn impressive for a Kickstarter project, and especially one that is a board game. CMON set the goal for this project at $200,000 and that figure has been completely toppled by fans. It is unclear what CMON will be doing with this extensive amount of support, but what we do know is that the board game will have much more potential which can only be good for the project. CMON says that backers can expect the Bloodborne: The Board Game to arrive sometime in May of 2020, this date could be subject to change due to the surprising amount of support the project has gained.

Mortal Kombat 11 PC patch: AI, crashes and frame data fixes
A new Mortal Kombat 11 PC patch has been released bringing the PC version of the game up to where the console version is. Patch notes have also been released and have been made available here.
Mortal Kombat 11 for the PC has recently been blessed with a new update that has brought the PC version of the game up to where the console version is. The new updates patch notes have been released onto the Steam listing for Mortal Kombat 11 and have made changes to the games AI, various crashing bugs, online match-making and several issues with FXAA.
This update also brought some changes to Tower of Time, the changes feature some adjustments to the AI difficulty, health reductions for opponents, increases for Koin Rewards and many more small fixes here and there. I recently reported on a Mortal Kombat 11 mod that unlocked the games 30FPS lock to 60FPS through mod. This mod made the menu, intros and fatal blows to be showcased in glorious 60FPS, it was believed that this update broke the mod but it has recently been updated and you can download the updated version for free here.

Gearbox founder 'would love' to bring Borderlands to Switch
Being a Nintendo Switch owner, there is a few titles that I would love to see come to the Nintendo Switch. One of those titles I would love to see debut on the handheld console is definitely Borderlands.
Borderlands would be one of the most perfect games to come to the Nintendo Switch, imagine portable co-op missions with a bunch of friends leading up to the release of Borderlands 3. I believe most Nintendo Switch owners would agree that Borderlands would be an amazing addition to the Nintendo Switch library of games, and it seems Borderlands' founder also agrees with that idea.
In a Twitter post answer to Gearbox's founder Randy Pitchford, a fan asked Pitchford if "there any chance to see the borderlands series on the Nintendo Switch???". Pitchford replied to the tweet saying "I would love to see that happen." Due to the Borderlands art style, I think the graphical downgrades that the game would be facing wouldn't be that noticeable, they would certainly be present but I could think of many games that would suffer a worser fate. While this doesn't confirm that Borderlands is coming to the Nintendo Switch it certainly raises eyebrows at the possibility of it happening in the future.

New Forza Street game rumored to drift onto Nintendo Switch
A new Forza title has been published onto the Microsoft Store titled 'Forza Street', and the game is also planned to be coming to iOS and Android. Now, new rumors have suggested that Forza Street is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Forza Street developers Electric Square has said that Forza Street will debut to the App Store and Google Play Store "later this year". Now AR12Gaming has managed to scrape the source code for the game on PC and found many references to the Nintendo Switch platform. While this doesn't necessarily confirm that Forza Street is on its way to the Nintendo Switch, it does line up with Microsoft's initiative to bring Microsoft games over to the Nintendo Switch.
Personally, I think that Forza Street would be a great fit for the Nintendo Switch platform, and I also think the Switch could use a well rounded modern racing game on its platform, as I believe many users would welcome an experience such as this one. If you are interested in checking out more information regarding Forza Street, visit the official Forza Street website here.

Borderlands 3 gameplay trailer is guns, guns and more guns
Borderlands developers Gearbox Software have decided to show off some gameplay footage from the upcoming title Borderlands 3. I hope you enjoy over-the-top weapons and even bigger bosses.
The reveal trailer for Borderlands 3 was like no other, fans flocked to the announcement and now the title is one of the most sought after games to date. Now, developer Gearbox has released another trailer onto their official YouTube Channel showcasing some gameplay of the title. We can see vehicles, an extremely large range of diverse weapons, a selection of extremely different looking environments and maps, unique abilities and some strange but interesting enemies.
The trailer doesn't forget to leave out weapons, thats for sure. We can see the player using some quite unique weaponry, some requiring a cool down squirt from your water gun due to the gun being literally on fire. Others allow for the player to shoot a missile and manually hone it on a enemy. To top everything off, players can also jump into a mech suit if the situation requires one. We also get a solid look at some of the enemies and bosses we will be facing, and they certainly do come in a variety of different sizes and have a range of different attacks.

Rocket League is being REVIEW BOMBED on Steam
We all know how crazy review bombing can get so you wouldn't be surprised hearing that Rocket League is being review bombed on Steam after developer Psyonix was acquired by Fortnite and Unreal Engine giant Epic Games.
Gamers aren't mad with Rocket League but rather its developer Psyonix and the comments left are nothing short of pure, seething anger and disgust. Just look at some of the comments left by gamers like "I hate this game and company and publisher behind it. I would say more but its way too hard to figure out what triggers STEAM mods into hiding, and/or deleting your reviews anymore".
Or how about "Selling out to literally hitler. Bold move, lets see how it pays off" and one of my favorites "Can't wait to get that EPIC victory royale fellas! ♥♥♥♥ you, Psyonix. --All Rocket League fans". The first thing I thought of when I read the news today that Epic had acquired Psyonix and will pull Rocket League from Steam, is that the worlds of Fortnite and Rocket League could combine. Oh boy.

PS5 dev kit rumor: 'ultra-fast RAM', Navi GPU with 13 TFLOPs
Sony will fully unveil its next-gen PlayStation 5 console in the coming months with a release in the second half of 2020, but PS5 development kits are in the wild with various developers and a gaming industry insider has given us a tease of what kind of power to expect.
The insider in question deleted his tweet, but the internet never forgets. In the tweet, Benji said: "It's looking like the PS5 kit is running a nearly 13TF GPU. Pairing with a Zen 2 CPU and (hopefully) a ton of ultra fast RAM and it's a beast". He added that next-gen games from developers like Naughty Dog (The Last of Us), Guerilla (Killzone, Horizon: Zero Dawn) and Santa Monica (God of War) and Insomniac (Spider-Man) are "going to look absurd".
We know that Sony's next-gen PlayStation 5 has a custom Zen 2 processor and Navi GPU both on the 7nm process from AMD, with support for ray tracing in some form. PlayStation architect Mark Cerny recently teases some details on the next-gen PS5 with Wired, saying that they are using an ultra-fast SSD. Cerny said that they are loading Spider-Man in less than 1 second compared to the PS4 version that takes around 15 seconds.

Earthworm Jim is back, but he's locked behind a $150 console
A new Earthworm Jim game is development by the original team, but it's exclusive to Intellivision's obscure new Amico console.
Today Intellivision's Tommy Tallarico confirmed some surprising news: a new Earthworm Jim is happening, and 10 of the original devs from Shiny Entertainment are back to make sure it's authentically weird--including Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel. There's just one big catch: you have to buy a whole new console just to play it.
"In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Earthworm Jim, Intellivision Entertainment is proud to announce it has gathered together and reunited the original Earthworm Jim team to create a brand new video game adventure exclusively for the upcoming Intellivision Amico home video game console," reads the press release announcement.

Borderlands 3 cosmetic microtransactions confirmed
Gearbox confirms Borderlands 3 will be monetized with optional cosmetic microtransactions, but no in-game currencies will be added.
At a recent Borderlands 3 event, Gearbox says the new sequel will let gamers buy skins and cosmetics with real money. Lootboxes and premium currency won't be added--instead gamers will just buy skins directly from an in-game store, similar to how Borderlands 2 operated.
"We're selling cosmetic items, but we're not going to nickel and dime players," Gearbox's dev Paul Sage told Game Informer. "DLC will come down the line, but the game won't have anything excessive."

Epic Games buys Pysonix, Rocket League to leave Steam
In a big move to further gouge Steam's PC marketplace, Epic Games takes a play from Microsoft's playbook and buys one of the biggest indie studios on gaming.
Today Psyonix announced that it'll soon be "part of the Epic Games family." The studio behind the enormously successful Rocket League is set to be acquired by Epic Games for an undisclosed sum. Not satisfied with just paying big bucks so AAA games like Borderlands 3 skip Steam for months after launch, Epic is taking a new all-out approach: buying the studios behind the games and then locking them to the Epic Games Store.
Psyonix says Rocket League will come to the Epic Games Store, but neglected to mention one key part: the game will leave Steam and be exclusive to Epic's marketplace. Sources tell The Verge that Rocket League will drop from Steam sometime in late 2019.

Nintendo Switch Online to hit 10 million members milestone
It could be said that Nintendo are quite happy with the efforts they have put into the Nintendo Switch Online program as the userbase has grown considerably, recent reports out of Nintendo reveal that it is about to hit the 10 million members mark.
The Nintendo Switch Online program was released back in last September and since then it has accumulated over 9.8 million members, and will eventually break the 10 million mark by the end of the year. Nintendo specifically point out that Tetris 99 was a very strong aspects of why Nintendo Switch Online became so popular, they say that the title provided positive "engagement" due to it being free but requiring a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
There is no doubt that other titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would of impacted the amount of Nintendo Switch Online users, as many gamers could just have Switch Online to play with their friends in Ultimate. Nintendo have said that Tetris 99 ended up being played by 2.8 million Nintendo Switch Online accounts, and Nintendo "plan to implement in-game events to encourage consumers to keep enjoying the game."
