Someone has hacked Street Fighter 5 Beta for the PC
As seen on Kotaku, PC gamers may rejoice as we all now have access to a cracked version of Street Fighter 5.
This download has 12 total characters available, including the likes of Ken, Ryu, Cammy, Nash, Birdie, Chun-Li, Necalli, the Dictator, Vega, Rashir, R. Mika and Karin. While Street Fighter is all about PvP, this version is unfortunately local only, meaning you're going to have to battle against the AI, and the AI only.
It's recommended that Windows 10 users disable their "World Wide Web Publishing Service," alongside the creator urging everyone to close Skype before launching. The build of this hack is based on the latest Street Fighter 5 Beta, we'll let you know if any new versions come out in the near future.

OnePlus won't replace faulty USB Type-C cable on its OnePlus 2 handset
The USB Type-C cable in the box for the OnePlus 2 smartphone has been a disaster so far, with Google engineer Benson Leung testing the cable and saying that it "may cause damage to your charger, hub or PC USB port" if used on a fast-charging device.
OnePlus has said that it doesn't conform to the USB Type-C 1.1 spec, and that it will refund customers - but, and this is a big but, since the cable doesn't have issues with the OnePlus 2 smartphone itself, the company will only refund customers who purchased the cable separately. Now this is a huge downer.
The company says that the USB Type-C cable works for what it was intended to, charging the OnePlus 2 smartphone. Outside of that, most people who aren't aware of the issues with the included cable could use it to charge another USB Type-C device, and possibly damage it. The included USB Type-C cable has the wrong resistor for the USB Type-C 1.1 specifications (10 k-ohms versus 56 k-ohms), so the device could draw more power than it can actually support.

Introducing Li-Fi, the Wi-Fi killer that boasts 224Gbps
A new technology medium called Li-Fi is ready to shake up the world of wireless connectivity, offering real-world speeds of 1Gbps--100 times the speeds of traditional Wi-Fi.
With 4K resolution just around the corner, the world's appetite data consumption is about to become much more voracious. Communications titans will need to find a new wireless solution to transmit ever-growing data-streams at an efficient rate, and eventually Wi-Fi will have to be left behind. In comes Li-Fi, the light-based technology that was able to hit insane 224 Gbps speeds in a lab environment.
Li-Fi uses the visible light spectrum to transmit data, meaning that everyday LED bulbs can be turned into portable hotspots. In order to transmit data, Li-Fi bulbs use modular pulses of light that flicker in nanoseconds to transmit data streams. Imagine having an intensely powerful and efficient Wi-Fi hotspot in every room of your house--that's the kind of potential that Li-Fi has.

NVIDIA rumored to be preparing the GeForce GTX 960 Ti
AMD has hit the headlines in a huge way today, with the tease that the Radeon R9 Fury X2 will be unveiled next month, and that there are huge price drops across their entire range of video cards - with the Fury X now priced at $589.
But news has broken that NVIDIA is preparing the launch of its GeForce GTX 960 Ti, a card that would compete against the just-released Radeon R9 380X from AMD. NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 960 Ti is said to feature a cut-down GM204 GPU, but when it comes to the CUDA count, things could get interesting. The GTX 960 has 1024 CUDA cores while the GTX 970 has 1664 CUDA cores, so we should expect somewhere in the 1280-1408 CUDA core range for the GTX 960 Ti.
As for the SMM count, the GTX 960 has its 1024 CUDA cores in 8 SMMs, while the GTX 970 has its 1664 CUDA cores across 13 SMMs, so the GTX 960 Ti should arrive with 10 or 11 SMMs. The price point of the GTX 960 Ti should be good, with a price of around $249. We should expect NVIDIA to provide a 192-bit memory bus, up from the 128-bit bus found on the GTX 960.

AMD reduces price on Radeon R9 Fury X, Fury and Nano - Fury X now $589
Right off the back of the news that AMD is close to launching its Radeon R9 Fury X2 dual GPU card, news has broken that the company has dropped the price on its Fiji-powered cards in the R9 Fury X, R9 Fury and R9 Nano.
The Radeon R9 Fury X launched with an MSRP of $649 but has dropped to $589 or even $569 after a rebate. The R9 Fury has dropped from its MSRP of $549 to a competitive $499 while the super-small R9 Nano dropped from $649 to $569, or $549 after a rebate. The Radeon 300 series has also received some price cutting love, with the R9 390X dropping from its MSRP of $429 to $379, while the R9 390 drops from $329 to $279.
The mid-range R9 380 2GB drops from $199 to $169, or down to $139 after a rebate while the 4GB version drops from $225 to $179, or only $159 after a rebate. Check out your e-tailer and local retailers to see if these price drops are in effect before purchasing of course.

Star Trek DS9 Blu-ray campaign warps into view
With the 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' high definition remastering project now complete and interest in the franchise expected to rise off the back of next year's 50th anniversary which will see the release of 'Star Trek Beyond' and a new TV series, a new campaign has begun to encourage CBS to look at remastering the 'Deep Space Nine' series in HD.
Self-admitted "Star Trek and sci-Fi nerds" David Frank and Christian Lerch are beyond a new series of 'Deep Space Nine' teaser spots in the hope that its distributor CBS will greenlight an HD remastering similar to that granted to 'The Next Generation'. CBS have not commented on the project, but have understood to have performed tests on the 'Deep Space Nine' 35mm negatives, but decided not to undertake the project due to cost considerations.

Humai wants to transfer your consciousness to an artificial body
With cloud and NAS backups being of utmost importance, what about your consciousness? Don't worry about that, because when you die, Humai promises to bring you back to life.
Humai is an Australian startup that claims it is working on transferring a person's consciousness to an artificial body, after they've died. Company CEO Josh Bocanegra says on the Humai website: "We want to bring you back to life after you die. We're using artificial intelligence and nanotechnology to store data of conversational styles, behavioral patterns, thought processes and information about how your body functions from the inside-out. This data will be coded into multiple sensor technologies, which will be built into an artificial body with the brain of a deceased human. Using cloning technology, we will restore the brain as it matures".
Bocanegra thinks that his company will be able to transfer your consciousness from your dead body within the next 30 years, but right now the company has just four staff and is securing more. The company seems to be waiting on large scientific breakthroughs before it could make this a reality, but it's a cool thing to think about. The big question is: would you want to live after you've died, in an artificial body?

New chip could charge your phone in 10 minutes, Samsung interested
Following news out of Oxford that new developments could mean smartphone charging could be cut down to once per week, scientists at
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore have created a chip -- pictured here -- they claim will charge phones in just 10 minutes. In addition, it's said to increase battery life and decrease the risk of your battery catching fire.
The chip, which took five years to develop, is promising enough that it's garnered the attention of Sony, Samsung, Tesla Motors, and Sanyo.

2nd-gen MSI ECO series motherboards debut
MSI is launching its second generation of environmentally-conscious and power-efficient ECO motherboards. Based on the 100-series Skylake chipset and an optimized PCB and circuitry design, the new models -- H170M ECO, B150M ECO, and H110M ECO -- are said to lead in power efficiency without hurting capability in any way.
Included software offers in-depth control over power consumption (even case fans and LEDs can be turned off) and features. If you don't want to do all the tinkering yourself, presets are included.
As for compatibility, all Intel 6th Core, Pentium, and Celeron processors are supported, though Intel S & T series are recommended for their power efficiency. Memory-wise, high-speed DDR4 in single and dual-channel is supported.

Raspberry Pi Zero is a $5 programmable computer
Raspberry Pi has done it again, and cheaper this time. First they released the Raspberry Pi Model B and several successors to put programmable computers in the hands of anyone with $20-$35, and now they're releasing the Raspberry Pi Zero, which does the same but just for $5. And for the ethically minded who are concerned about where something so cheap is made, in this case, it's Wales.

ASUS celebrates 20 years of making GPUs with GTX 980 Ti Golden Edition
ASUS has been making video cards for 20 years and is seeing fit to celebrate the milestone with a limited edition golden version of the GTX 980 Ti, pictured here.
They claim it's the fastest 980 Ti available with a base clock of 1,266Mhz and boosted clock of 1,367Mhz, offering about 21% more frames per second over the reference design. As well, it's said to be 30% cooler and three times more quiet during demanding gaming sessions, thanks to DirectCU II cooling tech, which houses a 10mm direct-GPU-contact heat pipe, a 325%-larger heat dissipation area, and two 0dB wing-blade fans. Other specs include 6GB GDDR5 VRAM, 2816 CUDA cores, 7200Mhz memory clock, and a 384-bit memory bus.
Features include a Memory Defroster for LN2 overclocking, a color-coded Load Indicator, a Safe Mode button for easy restoration of default settings, and the environmentally-friendly ASUS AUTO-EXTREME technology for higher quality parts ("Digi+ voltage-regulation modules (VRMs) with 14-phase Super Alloy Power II components - long-life capacitors, concrete-core chokes, and hardened MOSFETs") and more overclocking headroom.

Star Wars Battlefront PC player count is poor, dominated by Fallout 4
I was wondering why a quick mid-afternoon game of Star Wars Battlefront quickly turned into a frustrated wait for players, rather then my quick lunch-break frag fest that it was intended to be. With this title being released only just recently, sometimes it seems neigh on impossible to get a match going unless you're playing at peak times.
At first I thought it might be just due to a low number of Australian and New Zealander players picking up the game, so I did a little investigating on the statistical side of things. What I was greeted with is what you could describe as 'poor' player numbers, seeing SWBstats report back telling me that the 24 hour peak for this brand new title sits at only 33,337 for PC.
If we compare this to a same-day comparison of another newly released game, Fallout 4, STEAM tells us that at the time of writing this article there are 174,236 players in-game, with a 24 hour peak of 229,068. Even eight-year-old Team Fortress 2 is besting Battlefront, posting up 66,444 players in the last 24 hours.

AMD rumored to launch its dual-GPU next month, the Radeon R9 Fury X2
We knew it was coming before the end of the year, but it looks like AMD is preparing to launch its dual-GPU beast in the form of the Radeon R9 Fury X2, very soon.
AMD is reportedly holding a special event in December where they'll release the Fury X2, which should be an interesting card. Considering the Radeon R9 Fury X has 2 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the Fury X2 might use two Nano cards combined, to keep under that 300W TDP. Where is the news coming from? Well, Johan Andersson from DICE, of course.
Andersson posted to his Twitter account: "Dat feeling when your just arrived closed liquid cooling pre-release GPU turns out to not be so closed after all". If that's not proof enough, we don't have long to wait to see if AMD does indeed unveil the Radeon R9 Fury X2 next month.

QPAD uses DreamHack to launch its first new mouse shape in seven years
Quoted as "an improved design inspired by the legendary Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1" in a recent press release, QPAD has announced its first new mouse shape in seven years, coming in the form of this DX-20 gaming mouse.
Featuring multi-surface capabilities, the peripheral manufacturer claims that its new model will work on more surfaces than most optical sensors will, utilizing improved sensor technology that so far remains unstated. Inside the shell is an ARM processor and the exterior features RGB LED lighting strips and scroll wheel, with QPAD ensuring to mention that "beneath the exterior razzle-dazzle of the LEDs is a solid, well-tuned mouse with a balanced and professional feel" - making testimony to QPAD's competitive gaming heritage.

Samsung announces huge 128GB DDR4 DIMMs for enterprise, data centers
Samsung has just announced that mass production has started on the industry's first "through silicon via" (TSV) DDR4 RAM in 128GB modules, with the South Korean giant aiming at the enterprise and datacenter market.
Last year, Samsung revealed the world's first 3D TSV DDR4 RAM in 64GB DIMMs, but this is a new height for DDR4. Executive Vice President of Memory Sales and Marketing for Samsung, Joo Sun Choi, explains: "We are pleased that volume production of our high speed, low-power 128GB TSV DRAM module will enable our global IT customers and partners to launch a new generation of enterprise solutions with dramatically improved efficiency and scalability for their investment. We will continue to expand our technical cooperation with global leaders in servers, consumer electronics and emerging markets, where consumers can benefit from innovative technology that enhances their productivity and the overall user experience".
The new 128GB DDR4 DIMMS feature 144 x DDR4 chips, neatly arranged into 36 x 4GB DRAM packages, each featuring 4 x 20nm-based 8Gb chips using Samsung's impressive TSV packaging technology. TSV excels as the "chip dies are ground down to a few dozen micrometers, pierced with hundreds of fine holes and vertically connected by electrodes passing through the holes, allowing for a significant boost in signal transmission". Samsung's new 128GB DDR4 DIMMS will arrive in 2667MHz and 3200MHz speeds that "that help to meet intensifying enterprise server needs, while expanding TSV applications into high bandwidth memory (HBM) and consumer products".

The first screenshots from the System Shock remake arrive
System Shock was one of those games that really captured me, it was an incredibly detailed and haunting game - ahead of its time. Well, Night Dive Studios is ready to take it to the next level, with a complete reimagining of the first-person shooter.
Night Dive Studios acquired the System Shock IP from the Star Insurance Company, which scooped them up from the original developer, Looking Glass Studios. Looking Glas Studios was forced to give up the System Shock assets when it closed its doors. Night Dive Studios played around with the System Shock Enhanced Edition, but now the developer is working on a total remake of the game.
Stephen Kick, CEO of Night Dive Studios, told Polygon: "We have been in contact with members of the original System Shock team and any future iterations of the System Shock games, and by this I mean both new titles in the series as well as major updates to the existing games, will be very true to the spirit of the originals". AMD's new Zen APUs to deliver Xbox One/PS4 level performance in 2017
AMD has been teasing its Zen architecture for a little while now, but the new Zen-based APUs will be packing quite the performance punch when they drop in 2017.
It's said that we're looking at Xbox One and PS4 level performance, even when the Zen APU is found inside of notebooks - and personally, I think we might see it in VR headsets, too. Another exciting part of this news is that there's a rumor that AMD is working on a Zen APU that would feature High Bandwidth Memory, or HBM.
If AMD did this, it could really begin to make a dent in CPU sales for Intel, as people could choose a semi-powerful APU with HBM over a traditional CPU from Intel and DDR4 RAM.

Creationists upset over Google 'Who is Lucy' Doodle
Google yesterday commemorated the 41st anniversary of the discovery of a particular set of fossilised bones referred to as Lucy. The skeleton in question led scientists to believe man split from ape ancestors much earlier than previously thought, adding great new depth to the theory of evolution.
Creationists -- who deny the theory of evolution in favor of religious explanations -- weren't happy about the commemoration, responding to Google's tweet about it with choices words such as "since Allah(God)and creation have much proofs than evolution,i expect to see something about it also on your homepage", "Pushing your beliefs on others are you Google? Isn't that what you godless folks object to about Christians?", and "IM NOT A F*****G MONKEY @Google MAYBE WHITE PEOPLE CAME FROM MONKEYS BUT COLORED PEOPLE BEEN NATIVE TO THIS PLANET."
Google's tweet has 705 retweets, 1,182 likes, and a seemingly endless well of replies as of press time.

Microsoft restores Windows 10 November update downloads
Microsoft pulled the Windows 10 November update downloads over the weekend. Asked whether or not this was due to reported technical issues, a company spokesperson told us, "We look into any issues our customers report and appreciate their feedback. We don't have any further information to share today."
Despite then declaring no more manual downloads the new policy, they have now been restored, so if you want to upgrade cleanly or manually as opposed to through Windows Update, you can. Here is the official statement:
"Recently we learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update. Once these customers installed the November update, a few of their settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained. For these customers, we will restore their settings over the coming days and we apologize for the inconvenience. We worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible - it will not impact future installs of the November update, which is available today."
