Red Dead Online trademarked by Rockstar Games

| Oct 18, 2016 6:31 AM CDT

Rockstar's new Red Dead game may have its own online component similar to the mega-popular Grand Theft Auto Online.

Red Dead Online trademarked by Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two Interactive have trademarked a Red Dead Online domain name, strongly hinting that the new Red Dead 3 will have dynamic online features. Given the wild success of GTA Online, it's no surprise that Take-Two wants to apply the revenue-earning scheme to its other popular IPs, namely the Western-themed Red Dead franchise.

The studio has already issued out two teaser pics for the new Red Dead game, the second of which apparently shows the legendary gunslingers of the Magnificent Seven.

The dev team hasn't posted anything to Twitter or Facebook just yet, but you can no longer purchase Smash+Grab on Steam, so it's likely true. Best known for making the excellent open-world uncover yakuza game Sleeping Dogs, United Front Games was one of Canda's largest games studios.

Friday 13th gets a bitter-sweet delay scheduled for 2017

| Oct 17, 2016 7:13 PM CDT

A bitter-sweet finish is coming to the frightening and suspense filled 'Friday the 13th' game. Developer Gun Media has announced that they will be delaying the game's release as the company will be adding a single player experience in addition to the multiplayer mode.

The studio stated: "While the addition of single player and AI bots means a bigger game for all, they also mean a delay from a fall 2016 release window to a new launch window scheduled for spring 2017."

The single player feature will include online and offline play that will allow gamers to complete missions that come direct from the films. Character Tommy Jarvis, known for killing the infamous 'Jason' will join team line-up as a new playable map, 'Packanack Lodge' will now be featured in the exclusive content. Customers who backed via Kickstarter or pre-ordered the game will be given access to beta at the end of 2016, whilst the multiplayer game release has now been scheduled for 2017, with the single-player (including AI bots) version planned not far behind.

Riot Games drop a Sandbox scoop for League of Legends

| Oct 17, 2016 5:45 PM CDT

It was thought that after Riot Games spoke to audiences earlier this year, the idea of a sandbox mode for hit game 'League of Legends' was certainly out of the question, the news created much talk between players as the vibe wasn't pleasant. Though recent announcements made by the company, comes bearing good news! Riot has been making headlines with their change of heart towards the sandbox mode.

Riot's post announcing the Practice Tool teased: "We are doing our best to make this tool inclusive to people at every level. Everyone from Bronze to Challenger should see value in a single-player training mode to practice mechanics and map movement, but we're currently not looking to develop a multiplayer training tool for organized team drills or pro-play specifically. Once we get the first version out, we'll pay close attention to see if we missed anything in terms of how to become better by yourself."

With this announcement made it means that the practice tool is very much in the works. The feature will allow gamers to be able obtain the following:

Diablo alum David Brevik isn't working on Diablo 4

| Oct 17, 2016 4:33 PM CDT

David Brevik, one of the original founders of Blizzard North and the Diablo series, has officially confirmed he isn't working on Diablo IV.

Diablo alum David Brevik isn't working on Diablo 4

If you've followed our past Diablo coverage, you already know that Diablo IV is almost assuredly in the works. Now there's a rumor going around that Diablo IV could be unveiled at Blizzcon 2016, as per a cryptic teaser Blizzard may have put on a D4 dice found in a Blizzcon goodie bag.

Other rumors say that David Brevik was recently seen at Blizzard's offices, possibly working on the new Diablo game. Speculation was further fueled when Tweeted about being "proud to be the adviser for the game that pushes this genre to new heights," and everyone thought this meant Brevik was working on Diablo again.

Diablo 4 could be revealed at Blizzcon 2016

| Oct 17, 2016 3:31 PM CDT

We know that Blizzard is working on a new Diablo project, and I recently predicted that the project would be unveiled at Blizzcon 2016. It could be Diablo IV, or maybe even the Diablo II HD remaster, but now we have even more evidence of a major Diablo-related reveal at the event next month.

Diablo 4 could be revealed at Blizzcon 2016

There's quite a bit of evidence that Blizzard is making Diablo IV, and most of it is official: Blizzard originally posted a listing for a Diablo game director for a "new unannounced game" that will "lead the Diablo series into the future," and the studio is also hiring other positions like a senior concept artist that will help tell the "countless stories left to tell in the Diablo universe."

Now it looks like Blizzard has hidden a little cryptic teaser in its Blizzcon 2016 goodie bags, hinting we could see Diablo IV unveiled at the event. According to YouTuber Rhykker, Blizzard put something special on the four-sided "D4" dice found in the Blizzcon 2016 goodie bag: the numbers 11 and 4.

Pokkén Tournament gets another Pokémon added to the list

| Oct 17, 2016 11:22 AM CDT

Online source 'Nintendo Everything' has captured the attention of the gaming world with the latest Pokémon scoop. Bandai Namco recently revealed a brand new game trailer to the public, showcasing their new Pokémon 'Scizor'. The character is best known as 'Hassam' in Japan and will be coming to the arcade version of Pokkén Tournament.

Scizor will be added to the tournament in a week's time as the mon's official release premieres October 20. This comes as the second Pokémon to debut exclusively to the arcade version following the previous launch of 'Darkrai' back in July earlier this year. The Pokkén Tournament line-up, with the addition of Scizor, this makes 18 playable fighters and 30 support Pokémon.

The red, steel-plated mon will also be able to evolve into a bigger and better Pokémon as it transforms into 'Mega Scizor'. For now it has not been released as to whether or not the Pokemon will be added to the Nintendo Wii U version's roster.

Halloween theme announced for The Elder Scrolls Online

| Oct 17, 2016 9:19 AM CDT

The scariest night of the year is just around the corner and to celebrate it Bethesda have kicked off with a Halloween special for the Elder Scrolls Online, running for the entire month of October. Though this isn't the first game to have an exclusive Halloween feature as earlier this week, Blizzard released new creepy skins, sprays, and poses for Overwatch, whilst Bungie hinted to gamers that more seasonal events are coming to Destiny, one of which may be themed around Halloween this month.

Amongst all the spooky featurettes announced for the gaming industry, The Elder Scrolls Online, 'The Witches Festival,' is now a part of the Halloween exclusive. Players who want to enjoy the full Witches Festival experience will first have to claim their free Crow Caller from the Crown Store and complete the quest that gets assigned to them. Once the quest is complete, players will then gain the Witchmother's Whistle and the Witchmother's Cauldron. Those two items will give players the opportunity to take on the form of the Undead, and while in that state can acquire new Halloween items.

In zombie form, players have the chance to obtain the exclusive Plunder Skulls after eliminating head bosses. These skulls are important as they contain items such as masks, recipes, and a Hollowjack crafting theme. Once the event concludes, players can keep the Witchmother's Whistle, but means that they won't able to utilize the zombie mode. For those who aren't afraid of the dark, this one's for you.

Red Dead 3: Legends of the Old West teased by Rockstar

| Oct 17, 2016 9:09 AM CDT

Rockstar is slowly but surely unveiling the new Red Dead 3 game, and the latest snippet seems to verify recent rumors.

Red Dead 3: Legends of the Old West teased by Rockstar

Rockstar has just posted an interesting picture of the new Red Dead game that could confirm our old Legends of the Old West rumors. The picture shows seven gunslingers, which could be the Magnificent Seven. We've posted many leaks and rumors about Red Dead 3, and the most prominent one pinpoints the game as a prequel featuring famous renegade gunslingers of the era--this folds in with the Magnificent Seven.

Rumor has it that Red Dead: Legends of the Old West will take place in a prequel timeline with "more than one playable character" (hence the seven characters shown on Rockstar's teaser) and a"much bigger open world" with famous gunslingers thrown in the mix. A leaked in-game map supports the prequel timeline rumor.

Shadow Warrior 2 is one of the best PC games of 2016

| Oct 16, 2016 10:22 PM CDT

Flying Wild Hog has one of the best games on the PC in 2016, with Shadow Warrior 2 an excellent evolution of its reboot of Shadow Warrior from a few years ago. The developer has crafted one of the most customizable, and best-looking games of the year - not only that, but it includes 21:9 aspect ratio support for UltraWide monitors, SLI/CrossFire support for multi-GPU owners, and more.

Shadow Warrior 2 is also the world's first game to utilize NVIDIA's exciting new Multi-Res Shading technology, which is explained in the video above.

Here's an image showing how Multi-Res Shading works, where the direct center of the screen is rendered at 100% of the screen resolution, while the surrounding border is running at 60% of the resolution.

Red Dead: Retribution found on Rockstar's website

| Oct 16, 2016 4:43 PM CDT

UPDATE: Seems this is a huge false alarm, folks, apologies for that. It's incredibly easy to fake something like this, and I was able to replicate the same results as the YouTuber. So don't expect Red Dead 3 to be called "Red Dead: Retribution." A quick update: Rockstar posts another Red Dead 3 teaser that hints towards the Legends of the Old West prequel rumors.

Red Dead: Retribution found on Rockstar's website

Rockstar Games almost broke the internet by teasing a new Red Dead game, and now we have concrete evidence that it'll be called Red Dead: Retribution.

After months of waiting and teasing, we finally have some actual evidence of Red Dead 3. As you all know, Rockstar Games recently teased the game across social media and its website, and YouTuber PsychKyle found something quite interesting in the source code on Rockstar's mainsite: a direct mention of "Red Dead: Retribution." The source code is now missing from the site.

| Oct 16, 2016 8:53 AM CDT

Rockstar Games had a surprising hit in its hands with Red Dead Redemption, but gamers have been dying for a sequel for a while now, and out of the blue - the developer has teased an announcement through the use of its iconic logo on the official Rockstar Games Twitter page.

The developer also teased the red logo on its Facebook and official website, throwing out the yellow and black, or the white one it usually uses. The visual side of Red Dead Redemption was... well... red, used in a bunch of the promotional artwork for the game. Now that Rockstar is going on the marketing offensive with a red-themed tease, we can only expect an announcement or reveal of Red Dead Redemption 2 very soon.

Battlefield 1 running at 4K 60FPS maxed out on Titan X

| Oct 15, 2016 11:45 PM CDT

EA DICE has done an amazing job on Battlefield 1, which has some super-engaging multiplayer that we've come to expect, but the single-player is done in a very different way, and it's awesome. How am I playing it so early?

Well, for Origin Access members that pay $6.99 per month (which you can still do right now...) you get early access to certain games, and Battlefield 1 is one of them. You only get 10 hours of play time, but that's enough for some multiplayer battles and a quick squizz at the single-player goodness.

I've captured some gameplay footage from Battlefield 1, cranking along at 4K 60FPS on a single NVIDIA Titan X graphics card. I used my VGA benchmarking machine, so we have:

Final Fantasy VII Remake has 'vastly different' combat

| Oct 15, 2016 1:08 PM CDT

Square Enix has already confirmed Final Fantasy VII: Remake's combat system won't be ATB-based like the original game, instead favoring a new action-oriented system similar to Final Fantasy 15. Now game director Tetsuya Nomura delivers more details about the remake's combat, promising the team will deliver specifics quite soon.

Final Fantasy VII Remake has 'vastly different' combat

"The battles in [the FF7 Remake] have greatly changed from the original, since they're something with more action in them," Nomura said in an interview with Japanese publication Dengenki PlayStation.

"The battle system in Final Fantasy VII Remake is so vastly different, so I think we need to communicate very clearly just how exactly battles will work. We're currently in the middle of elevating various aspects up to finished quality."

Ubisoft release the soundtrack for Just Dance 2017

| Oct 15, 2016 3:30 AM CDT

To the gamers who love to bust a move this one comes fresh off the press! The latest announcement for Ubisoft's 'Just Dance 2017' is the unveiling of the brand new song line-up featuring numerous genres and eras of music like never before.

The base game soundtrack will contain 40 songs including smash hits by artists: Queen, Maroon 5, Sia, Justin Bieber, Beyonce and much more. This makes the track list one of the most diverse line-ups for the game with over 200 songs in total with the addition of 'Just Dance Unlimited.'

Gamers who have already subscribed to the Ubisoft service will be happy to know that the company will be continuing its exclusive content and tracks throughout the year via the Unlimited offer. Though this will only be available for current generation consoles, so Xbox 360 and PS3 players will unfortunately, miss out on the extra content. These are the 10 most popular consoles ever

| Oct 14, 2016 2:26 PM CDT

Video games are one of the most popular forms of entertainment today, they have become a real competitive sport, and the gaming industry is generating billions of dollars. The "boom" of video games started decades ago. Pong and other early arcade games have shown that there is interest in the market for this type of entertainment, which prompted the engineers to develop home gaming devices.

Although it wasn't the first, the Atari VCS/2600 is one of the consoles which popularized home video game consoles and helped cement the video game movement into mainstream culture. It was released on this day, October 14, 1977 as one of the first second-generation consoles in North America, but it took two years for Atari 2600 to become popular in the market.

By 1979, the VCS was the best-selling Christmas gift (and console), due to its exclusive content, and 1 million units were sold that year. Atari Inc. then licensed the smash arcade hit Space Invaders, which greatly increased the unit's popularity when it was released in January 1980, doubling sales to over 2 million units.

Nintendo will finally unveil its new NX platform, possibly called Nintendo Duo, sometime next week according to financial investment firm Macquarie Group.

Nintendo NX reveal coming next week, says Macquarie

Nintendo is fast running out of time to reveal its purported handheld-console hybrid NX system, but key industry players predict a full-on NX debut is coming quite soon.

The popular consensus is that Nintendo will show off the NX sometime in late October, possibly on October 21, as the Japanese console-maker has a long tradition of big Nintendo Direct reveals during the Fall month. A Nintendo Direct announcement would be the fifth anniversary for the series, and coincide with four years of big first-party announcements.
