Mafia III updated, framerate cap has been removed
Hangar 13 has shaken off its hangover from the Mafia III release, and in their blurred vision and stomach cramps, realized the wrong of their ways in slapping Mafia III with a framerate cap.
The latest patch for Mafia III on the PC removes the unnecessary framerate cap, so that PC gamers can choose to unlock the framerate for those high refresh rate displays and smoother gameplay - come on Hangar 13... 30FPS lock, really? The patch includes 30FPS, 60FPS and unlimited options, and improvements to the keyboard remapping.
There will be additional improvements made to the PC version of the game, with the developer adding: "We aren't done with fixes and updates and will continue to listen to our community for ways to improve your experience in New Bordeaux".

Forza developer says 'don't give up on Xbox One'
Sony is preparing for the launch of its beefier PlayStation 4 Pro console, but that doesn't mean the Xbox One is old and dead now, especially when we have great-looking games like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 on the Xbox One.
Well, Forza developer Playground Games and their Creative Director Ralph Fulton, sat down with DailyStar for a chat, where he said: "How much more can you push out of it [The Xbox One]? I would probably just say don't give up on Xbox One, just yet. Developers are always finding new ways to extract more from hardware. ".
He continued: "We're only a couple of years from the Xbox One launch so we're still learning stuff. We're still finding new ways and better ways to do things. It's kinda a point of pride for good developers to always be pushing standards and quality on hardware".

Former PvZ devloper creates new Octopus destroying game
Once a PopCap developer of the world famous Plants vs. Zombies game, George Fan, has recently announced the launch of his brand new invention, 'Octogeddon'. The now indie developer is on a mission according to online sources to have entered a game-making competition called Ludum Dare 24.
The specific goal of this competition was to make an entire video game in just 48 hours! The theme was evolution, in which the art, the code, the music and design was done alone in a first draft by Fan himself. Direct from The Verge, Fan states: "For some reason I thought of an octopus". Hence a giant octopus being the main star of the game.
The trailer released above gives gamers a quick inside look as to what may be expected in his new creation. With the added assistance of PvZ lead artist Rich Werner, and Kurt Pfeifer, who programmed PvZ for the Xbox 360, Fan has created a new team to finish off Octogeddon. This game will certainly differ from Plants V Zombies as the goal will be to destroy humanity instead of saving it. The Octopus will bring havoc on cities by using its tentacles, constantly evolving becoming more deadlier the further you progress in the game.

Overwatch leaks: Sombra design, Halloween brawl teased
Overwatch is one of the most addictive first-person shooters ever, and now Blizzard are set to inject a little more of that addiction into the game through a new character, and a purported new Halloween brawl. A post on the Overwatch subreddit said that the leak originated from a "Russian OW group".
Sombra is the new character ready for Overwatch, and it looks like she isn't just part of Blizzard's alternate reality game that's still going on. Images have been plastered all over the internet in popular places like Reddit, Imgur, Gyazo and more, showing Sombra as "one of the world's best and most notorious hackers". The image seems to be from an internal Blizzard site, so we don't know when and where the photo was taken.
The partial description of Sombra teased that she worked with the Mexican Los Muertos gang, as saw saw in Solider: 76's animated short, but her collaboration with the gang was short-lived "until she attracted too much unwanted attention and had to go underground".

Mafia III framerate to be unlocked this weekend
As reported yesterday, Mafia III has launched with a 30 FPS cap on PC, but a fix is on the way. Turns out you won't have long to wait at all, according to a statement released by developer Hangar 13.
"We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III," it says. "We're verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!"
While launching with a mandatory 30 FPS cap is less than desirable, the quick turnaround is nice to see and should mean the debacle is all but forgotten before long.

Mafia III locked to 30 FPS on PC, 60 FPS on the way
Despite the release of previous 60 FPS footage, the newly launched Mafia III is currently locked to 30 FPS on PC, much to the chagrin of its player base. Fortunately, the situation is temporary.
"We know how important having options that best suit your PC's performance capabilities are," a statement on the game's official site reads. "The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III's performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates. We'll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon."
If you haven't purchased the game on PC yet, we definitely recommend holding off if you care about high framerates. Be sure to check back for news on when the update hits.

NX to meld mobile, console gaming with seamless syncing
Nintendo's unannounced NX hardware may feature a new "two parts of the same whole" kind of approach to games: smaller mobile-esque companion games for the handheld portion for on the go play, and full AAA games on the home console version--all on the same cartridge.
For a long time I was thinking how Nintendo NX's hybrid hardware would work in terms of games: how would Nintendo effectively make a single game playable on a handheld and a home console? Now I might've found my answer. Ubisoft has told popular YouTuber Boogie2988 about the NX:
"Let's say you could play Assassin's Creed once you have your handheld plugged into your console. And then, you could then detach the thing and take it with you and play the Assassin's Creed mobile game out of your pocket. And then when you get back home, plug it directly in and now it attaches back to the... That's brilliant. That's smart, right? Taking a form of the game with you as you go. So he says it's a dream to code for," Boogie said at the Retropalooza convention.

Fallout 4 getting limited mod support on PS4
Following Sony's original extremely unpopular decision to cut Fallout 4's mod support on PS4, the company has had a change of heart: mods are now coming to Fallout 4 on PS4...but there's a catch.
Bethesda today announced that Fallout 4's PS4 mods are no longer cancelled, but the mods themselves will be significantly gimped on PS4. For example, Fallout 4's PS4 mods won't be able to use new assets that aren't available in the base game itself, so that means no new weapons, armor sets, and items (aka the most popular mods). Given the limited nature of console mods in general, this is a pretty big deal and cuts out a chunk of the already-limited capability of console mods.
If that wasn't enough, there's another catch: we'll have to wait until Skyrim: Special Edition's mods are up and running smoothly on PS4 before Fallout 4 gets mod support.

Gambling agency orders Valve to stop CS:GO skin trade
The Washington State Gambling Commission has formally told Valve to stop "allowing the transfer of virtual skins for gambling activities" on Steam.
The commission recently issued a press release prompting Valve to take "whatever actions necessary" to end the unregulated "black market" Counter-Strike: GO skin trade in its entirety. The agency says that a single site in the CS:GO skin trade, CS:GO Lounge, has earned an estimated $1 billion in unregulated revenue streams--revenue that's been earned "contrary to state gambling laws."
Valve has until October 14 to comply with this order, and if they fail, the commission will take criminal actions.

Skyrim remaster hits native 4K on PS4 Pro, gets mods
Skyrim: Special Edition will be playable in native 4K resolution on Sony's new PlayStation 4 Pro console, and it'll also launch with mod support on PS4.
Since Sony pretty much killed Fallout 4 mods on PS4, gamers were worried that the new Skyrim remaster wouldn't have mods either. As any PC gamer will tell you, Skyrim with mods is a complete game-changer, and is one of the many reasons the studio chose to remaster the game on current-gen systems. Bethesda today allayed those fears by confirming Skyrim: Special Edition will launch with mod support on PS4, but there's a few concessions.
First of all, Sony still hasn't greenlit the use of new assets for Fallout 4's or Skyrim: Special Edition's PS4 mods. That means all the mods can only use existing in-game assets, and we won't be seeing any new armors, weapons, or outfits. Skyrim: Special Edition will see PS4 mod support ahead of Fallout 4, so rest assured that Bethesda is more focused on getting Skyrim up and running first.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare takes up to 130GB HDD
Over the last few years, games have been getting bigger and bigger, but Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has created a new milestone: 130GB.
The full installation of both Infinite Warfare and the Modern Warfare Remastered copies of Call of Duty require 130GB, with the retail PS4 box for the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition saying it requires 130GB space. Now if you consider the PS4 has a 500GB HDD, that's over 25% of your HDD space for one game.
Right now, the MWR Campaign Early Access weighs 40GB on the PS4, so that means Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare weighs 90GB. How in the hell. This means that gamers wanting the digital version of the game will have to download 130GB, which could take up to a week in countries and connections that are up to scratch.

Mortal Kombat X's massive new 28GB patch for PC released
The PC version of Mortal Kombat X was a fatality when it launched earlier this year, with both Warner Bros and developer NetherRealm taking a step back from the PC version of the game, but still putting their full efforts into the console versions with updates and DLC.
Now the PC version of Mortal Kombat X has been patched, with WB and NetherRealm talking with gamers again in August with a new beta version of Mortal Kombat XL for the PC. The massive patch weighs in at 28GB, making it bigger than some AAA titles, but acts as a patch that brings Mortal Kombat XL into a much better position on the PC than ever before.
Mortal Kombat XL includes all of the content from the original game, but includes content from Kombat Pack 2, which has playable characters like the Xenomorph from Alien, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film franchise, Triborg and Bo'Rai Cho are also available.
