The Black Masses trailer showcases 6,000 zombies on screen
Most gamers enjoy the likes of shooting a couple zombies while making an escape, but what about 6,000 zombies? The Black Masses new tech trailer showcases 6,000 individual enemies on the one screen.
Brilliant Game Studios has released what is called a tech demo, this means its a not a release of a full game but what the game will most likely turn out to be graphics wise. From the above video we can see that The Black Masses will be using physical based rendering, global illumination, high resolution textures, volumetric lightening and feature HDR support as well.
The video also reveals what I would consider quite a hefty achievement for the indie development studio. We can see closer to the end of the video that both players attempt facing off against a massive mob of zombies, despite the zombies being quite generic it has been reported that there was over 6,000 present. If you are interested in checking out more information regarding The Black Masses, visit the official Facebook page for The Black Masses here.

Treyarch details upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 patch
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been receiving a steady flow of updates since its launch, with developer Treyarch preparing the player base with an update that dropped today.
Treyarch addressed the issues with crashes at the end of matches for Masters Prestige players in multiplayer, as well as the Zombies mode. There are general stability improvements in all modes, which is always appreciated.
The developer has made tweaks and improvements to all modes including Blackout, Multiplayer, and Zombies. In the battle royale mode, Treyarch fixed an issue which had gamers scrolling left or right on the D-pad (on controllers obviously) to navigate through their Stash lists. They also fixed problems where the Collapse circle would disappear to some, which would be incredibly frustrating as you can imagine.

Project Nova goes into Closed Alpha next month
EVE developer CCP Games is working on their new game 'Project Nova', a new online multiplayer first-person shooter that will go into a Closed Alpha in November. You can sign up for the Project Nova closed alpha on their official website.
Project Nova is a PC-first game, with the developer explaining it as: "Players take on the role of a Warclone, elite clone soldiers carving their own path to redemption against Sansha's Nation, a totalitarian rogue state built upon brainwashed slave labor and controlled by loyal 'True Guardians', a cybernetically-enhanced elite".
The developer continues: "You have been called to action by AEGIS, the Concord division specializing in defense against external threats. Amid furious boots-on-the-ground battles, the clash of space warfare will roar overhead as players seek to dismantle their operations and prevent the enslavement of their fellow free-willed soldiers by Sansha's Nation".

Games-as-a-service driving EA and Activision into the future
If we rewind the clock back six years, EA was worth $4 billion and Activision was worth $10 billion. Today, however... EA is now worth a huge $33 billion, while Activision has swollen out to $60 billion, and it's all thanks to their push into games-as-a-service.
Buying a game once off doesn't make developers as much as a continued subscription service method, or games like Overwatch that keep you coming back for more with DLC, microtransactions (loot boxes) and themed/timed events and seasons. Look at Fortnite for example is making over $300 million a month and is home to close to 100 million players per month.
Something like Overwatch will cost $30 and you can have hundreds of hours in it without spending another cent, but you might splash out on some loot boxes because you want some of those awesome skins and other cosmetic items.

Tekken 7 smashes 3 million sales worldwide
Bandai Namco's excellent Tekken 7 has now dragon uppercutted its way through 3 million sales, solidifying the series as a mainstay for the Japanese publisher.
Just after a year of release on PS4, Xbox One and PC, Tekken 7 has surpassed 3 million sales worldwide, franchise game director Katsuhiro Harada announced. If you've played it then you shouldn't be surprised about the sales figures: the fighter continues the series' long-running pedigree for satisfying competitive action (even if it's still light on content).
Tekken 7's success pushes the franchises sales even higher. In its 24-year span, Tekken has now sold over 47 million copies across the globe. Bandai Namco has yet to announce its second quarter earnings for FY2019, but its first quarter finances show Dragon Ball remains the highest-earning series. The main difference is that Bandai Namco fully owns the Tekken series so it gets to recoup development and marketing costs via full game sales.

Atari 2600 handheld retro-izes holiday season
Atari is further branching into the handheld market with a portable Atari 2600, complete with classic games and 1970's wood paneling.
The Atari Retro Handheld aims to bring old-school gaming on-the-go similar to Nintendo's popular Switch NES service (only without online connectivity). The device is basically a $45 (35 GBP) small, fits-in-your-pocket emulator that runs Atari 2600 games. It features an iffy-looking "joystick"/circular D-pad that's more convex than a 3DS stick, a 2.4-inch screen, and comes pre-loaded with 50 retro games like Centipede, Asteroids, Pong, Breakout, Missile Command, and even all three Swordquest games.
It can also hook up to your TV via an A/V cable for home play, but don't expect dual-screen action. The handheld is a cheaper and more affordable old-school arcade machine that could be competitive in a sea of higher-cost retro mini-consoles like Nintendo's NES and SNES Classic Editions and Sony's upcoming $100 PlayStation Classic.

Battlefield V goes GOLD, with DICE prepared for November 19
Battlefield V has officially gone gold, with DICE taking to Twitter to announce that it has "officially gone GOLD!" and that there's "not long left on the road to launch but today was our original launch date".
In celebration of Battlefield V going gold the developer has announced that there is a free gift for all Battlefield V players, offering up an Oscar Mike emblem and helmet when the game launches next month. Oskar Gabrielson, the GM of DICE Stockholm, took to his Twitter to say: "Today we were going to launch #BattlefieldV, but as you know we pushed the release a month to get extra time for polish and act on all the feedback you've given us. You've been super patient with us and as a token of our appreciation, our team built a small gift. Check it out!"
This is great news, as it means Battlefield V is finished and off to the printing presses for consoles and being prepped for Origin in its final form. A game going gold back in my day meant the game was 100% finished and no other changes were being made, but we all know the game going gold means something a little different these days as we have day one updates for everything. I'm sure there'll be a day one update for Battlefield V as well, but hearing the game has gone gold has me excited to see the reception of the game when it launches.

PS4 exclusive Days Gone delayed to April 2019
Days Gone has been delayed again, this time out of the big February 2019 release timeline.
Today Sony Bend Studio announced its open-world zombie survival game Days Gone has been delayed for the third time, and will release on April 26, 2019, months after its original February launch. The PS4-exclusive should be one of Sony's big first-party games of 2019, a year which could include such anticipated titles like Death Stranding and Naughty Dog's visceral The Last of Us Part II.
"We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio. We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to April 26, 2019. While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone," the studio wrote in the announcement.

Thronebreaker gameplay shows blend of RPG and CCG
CD Projekt RED recently showed off some snippets of in-game Thronebreaker footage ahead of its late October release.
Thronebreaker is an interesting game. Not only does it tap the popular Witcher universe's lore to tell an engaging dark fantasy story, it uses key RPG-driven cause and effect elements alongside Gwent gameplay. But unlike Gwent, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a standalone $30 singleplayer RPG without online multiplayer play, and it has some nifty strategy elements to boot.
The core gameplay is centered around Gwent card battles and sees a merge of RPG and CCG. There's RTS-like resource management and upkeep, exploration across unseen areas of the Witcher universe like Geralt's home of Rivia, and the aforementioned card duels. The trailer mentions a constant threat of treachery against Queen Meve and implies gamers will have to consistently make tough decisions that have certain ramifications--who's really your friend and who's a spy?

Path of Exile coming to PS4, ratings listing suggests
To ensure maximum reach and earnings, Grinding Gear Games is likely bringing its ever-evolving RPG to PS4.
Path of Exile has been rated for the PS4 by the Taiwan Entertainment Software Association, strongly hinting at an impending release on the platform. The ARPG came to Xbox One first with an August 2017 release, and I'd be surprise if it didn't launch on PS4 by year's end.
This isn't the first time the TESA prematurely broke news like this; the ratings board did the same with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice on Xbox One earlier this year. The developers have yet to make an official confirmation.

Red Dead Redemption 2 listed for PC
Red Dead Redemption 2 is likely to follow GTA V's staggered platform launch plan, and a new product listing from one of Europe's biggest retailers is a good indicator of a 2019 release.
MediaMarkt, the world's second largest electronics retailer, just put up a listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. This led to a firestorm of hope that Rockstar's huge Western outlaw game would come to PC (which is likely, of course) after console gamers have digested the story and beta tested the Red Dead Online mode.
The listing is likely just a shell placeholder, and has been updated to disallow pre-orders (the original let users pre-order the PC version) and any mention of a placeholder 2019 release has been scrubbed. But one thing doesn't add up. The listing's EAN, or European Article Number, doesn't hit any known products. Maybe Take-Two has yet to register Red Dead Redemption 2 to an EAN, or perhaps the retailer is using a randomly generated number that isn't assigned to any other products.

Capcom reveal Resident Evil 2 Claire 'Military' DLC costume
The Resident Evil 2 Remake will be launching early next year and to tease fans before its launch Capcom has released a new 'military' themed DLC trailer.
The above video showcases the Claire 'Military' outfit. The unfortunately short video only last for about 24 seconds, but what we can see from it is Claire wearing a military vest and pants. The 'military' DLC will be included within the Resident Evil 2 Remake Deluxe Edition.
This isn't the first time we have seen Claire in the Resident Evil 2 Remake, I have reported on Capcom releasing a 30 minute gameplay trailer of Claire. Throughout the trailer we see Claire face off against a classic enemy and also we get a great showcase of the graphical improvements that have been made. Visit that article here. Resident Evil 2 is planned for release on January 25th next year, it will be arriving on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Soulcalibur VI - Swords and Souls documentary video part 1/2
The launch of Soulcalibur VI is about to be upon us and ahead of the release Bandai Namco has debuted the second part of the their Soulcalibur documentary series.
Before the next installment into the series is released Bandai thought it would be good to give fans a bit of background on where Soulcalibur originated from and how the 20 year old fighter still stands today. The first video in the series gives a look at the previous titles that have been released and how the game has evolved from what it once was, to what it is today.
Both video's contain pro Soulcalibur players and YouTube influencers that give their take on how the franchise has been developed over its lifespan. Part 2 mainly focusses on Soulcalibur VI and the thoughts that both the YouTubers and pro-players have regarding the title. Soulcalibur VI will launch on October 19th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. If you want to check out the character trailers for the upcoming game, check out my compiled post here.

Mario/Zelda/Pokemon themed Smash Bros. Ultimate controllers
We aren't far off from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimates release and there is no doubt that Smash fans are itching to get into the new game. The real question is, will players be using their hardened classic GameCube controller or make the switch to something a bit more modern?
As a Super Smash Bros. fanatic there is absolutely zero chance that I am going to be transferring over to any new controller that isn't a classic GameCube one. Smash players that have been around the scene will understand where I am coming from, any other controller than the one you learned how to do your first combo on is just weird to use.
With that in mind though, what about a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller that is GameCube themed? PDP and Nintendo currently have in the works three specifically themed controllers; Mario, Zelda and a Pokemon one. Each of the controllers will only be $25 and comes with a 10 foot long USB cable, and also the option to swap out the traditional C-Stick with a full sized one.

Zombie outfit/snapshot filters come to Super Mario Odyssey
As we move closer to Halloween Nintendo have decided to get into the festive spirit and make their favorite mascot into a zombie. Introducing Mario, the undead version.
If you haven't played Super Mario Odyssey you are truly missing out, in my personal opinion it is one of the best games I have ever played. The controls are smooth, the levels make you feel like a kid again, but also provide a sense of achievement once completed and the costumes are an amazing added bonus.
Since we are about to land onto Halloween, Nintendo have decided to get into the spirit and debut a Mario zombie outfit (as seen above). Not only do players have the opportunity to make Mario undead with the new update through the Zombie Headware and the Zombie Outfit, but some extra goodies have been added as well. Nintendo has also released three new snapshot filters, they are titled; Manga, Tile and Kaleidoscope. For more informtion regarding Super Mario Odyssey, visit the official Nintendo website here.

Blizzard to share 'some Diablo-related news at BlizzCon 2018
We already know that Blizzard is working on a new Diablo game, but now the developer has come out and outright told us that there will be some super exclusive stuff revealed about Diablo at BlizzCon 2018.
Blizzard took to the official Diablo 3 website with a post titled 'Diablo at BlizzCon 2018' and said: "These are very exciting times - we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can't wait to tell you all about them... when the time is right". The developer continued, saying they won't be unveiling all of their Diablo-related projects but they "do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show".
BlizzCon 2018 kicks off on November 2, the same day that Diablo 3 lands on the Nintendo Switch. I'm hoping we see a glimpse of Diablo 4, especially when the developer teases "good things come to those who wait" but they followed it up with "but evil things often take longer".

Black Ops 4 weekend sales don't beat Black Ops 3
Black Ops 4's combined retail and digital weekend sales have surpassed $500 million in revenues, Activision announces, but the multiplayer-based Call of Duty doesn't beat Black Ops 3.
Although Activision has enjoyed strong digital sales and engagement with Black Ops 4's launch, the game's combined weekend sales fail to breach records set by previous Black Ops games.
According to figures provided by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, Black Ops 4's $500 million launch weekend revenues match earnings made by 2017's Call of Duty: WWII. 2015's Black Ops 3 made $550 million in three-day launch sales. Activision's monumental Black Ops II still holds the record with $500 million earned in just the first day of launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launch trailer shows renegade thievery
After many long, long years of development Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally on its way. Rockstar celebrates the game's impending release with a new launch trailer that foreshadows an epic cowboy adventure.
Red Dead Redemption 2's story should be one for the ages. Ever since the first reveal trailer in 2016, I had a feeling Rockstar would spin a Western yarn worthy of a Sergio Leone series. Everything up until this point has only reinforced that feeling: RDR2 tells the story of a group of desperate outlaws who are displaced in time and constantly hunted by the long arm of the law. As Arthur Morgan, players will watch first-hand as the Dutch Van Der Linde gang tries to hold on to their savage way of life amid a changing 1899 frontier America. And eventually we'll have to make a choice: die bloodied by the gun as we live, or redeem ourselves to live another day.
The game's official launch trailer touches on this fall of outlaws. Renegade life is becoming harder and harder, and the Van Der Linde gang just needs one more big score before they can leave this life and settle down. But that's always the way with thievery; just one more robbery, just one more hold-up, all the while never knowing which could be your last.

ZeniMax Online making new MMORPG
On the heels of its success with Elder Scrolls Online, ZeniMax Online will continue expanding with new MMORPG experiences.
ZeniMax Online is making an new MMORPG set in a fresh IP, a new job listing reveals. The mention of a new IP hints the new game won't adapt one of Bethesda's core franchises. The studio took this approach by translating Bethesda Game Studios' beloved Elder Scrolls series into an MMO--The Elder Scrolls Online--which started off rocky but is now stable. Now it seems the devs want to push even farther into the online space.
Other than it being an MMO, the Core Tech Programmer listing itself doesn't reveal any hints or key info about the game. It does suggest that the game is in early phases of development, however. This isn't uncommon in the games industry; developers typically take on multiple projects at once and lay the seeds for new works while fortifying existing releases.
