Obsidian's new RPG called Outer Worlds, set in new IP
Obsidian reveals The Outer Worlds, a brand new sci-fi singleplayer game set in a brand new IP.
Back in 2017, sources told TweakTown that Fallout creator Tim Cain was working on a new RPG for New Vegas developer Obsidian, and that it'd be the studio's answer to the Fallout franchise. Tonight at The Game Awards 2018, Obsidian finally unveiled the project, The Outer Worlds, which sees original Fallout creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky at the helm.
The game is set in a brand new universe and looks to be a union between Borderlands with its bright flair, and borrows elements from BioShock's old-school 1950's style, and even a splash of Fallout: New Vegas' striking characters. The Outer World is being made with Unreal Engine and is being published by Take-Two Interactive's new Private Division label.

The Game Awards begins! Check out the livestream here
The Game Awards have begun! A link to the livestream can be found below, tune in for all the announcements and some hot news from companies and developers.
At the time of writing this there is about an hour left until the livestream officially begins, I'd expect we will get some epic introduction music from Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, followed by some great gaming announcements from a large variety of developers/publishers.
What should be expecting throughout the show? Well, some companies have already decided to release some of their news ahead of schedule, examples include Capcom's Devil May Cry 5 trailer leak, and CS:GO's new battle royale mode 'Danger Zone.' During the show though, I'd expect news surrounding Far Cry 5, Obsidian Entertainment, maybe Rage 2 updates, Sony/Microsoft related content, and even some news about the recently released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Hope everyone enjoys the show!

Far Cry: New Dawn leaked, likely a spin-off with online coop
Ubisoft's new Far Cry game is called Far Cry: New Dawn, newly leaked art reveals.
The next Far Cry game has been leaked ahead of its scheduled The Game Awards 2018 announcement, giving us clues on what to expect. Since it's way too soon for another big-budget sequel, I predicted the post-apocalyptic Far Cry: New Dawn would be a spin-off of sorts not unlike Blood Dragon. Ubisoft's teaser clearly showed the Montana countryside that served as the backdrop of Far Cry 5's chaos and we should see assets, textures, physics systems, and other content from the previous game carry over to New Dawn.
While Ubisoft has not announced any specifics, the cover really emphasizes my original thoughts of online play. I predict that New Dawn will be like Wolfenstein's new Youngblood game and feature online co-op across a spin-off style story arc. The cover hints the femme fatale duo are sisters, and we could play as either one in the game similar to Youngblood...or perhaps we're playing as a cultist trying to survive in a ruthless world overrun by killer women with buzz saw rifles.

Nintendo to squeeze in Smash Ultimate news at Game Awards
Just a day out from the official launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo America have teased fans with the reveal of some more news at The Game Awards tomorrow.
According to the above Tweet from the official Nintendo of America Twitter account, Nintendo want Smash Bros. Ultimate fans to "tune in tomorrow night at 5:30pm" to watch the Awards unfold. It could be assumed that Nintendo plan to squeeze in just a tiny bit more Smash Ultimate news just hours before the games scheduled launch, perhaps some information regarding the undisclosed 5 fighter DLC pack?
It is unclear what Nintendo have in-store for us, maybe the rumoured Metroid-related title trilogy is something they want to show off? Regardless though, The Game Awards 2018 is something you definitely don't want to miss out on, especially considering there is large potential for a special Smash Bros. UItimate reveal. For more information regarding The Game Awards, visit the official website here.

New BioMutant trailer - New characters & Environments
A new trailer for the upcoming RPG title BioMutant has been released revealing some brand new never before seen enemies and awesome environments.
The trailer has been released onto IGN's YouTube Channel and begins with some great overview shots of some pretty unique area's or biomes players will be able to enjoy. We can spot a 'blocky' castle that seems to change appearance as it becomes night, this raises the question to whether other area's across the map will also alter appearance as the day/night cycle falls upon them.
We are the introduced to a big burly like enemy wearing a top hat (screenshot located in entirety of post), then we are quickly thrown back into some great contrasting environments. Starting off, we have our main protagonist traversing a snow area on the back of what seems to be a wolf? Then we get a great overview shot of a forest, followed by a side-scrolling shot of a tropical area into yet another massive enemy.

Prepare for the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
We are now only just 24 hours away from the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the hype has reached pinnacle. Its time to prepare for battle.
Some lucky users managed to get their hands-on a copy of Ultimate before the official release date due to the full game being leaked from Mexican retailers, more on that story here. If you are like the rest of the world though and are patiently counting down the hours until your game unlocks, then there might be some things you want to check out on your Switch beforehand.
Firstly, just make sure you Nintendo Switch is updated to the latest firmware. This will ensure that when you are playing Ultimate you will be receiving the best performance the Switch can offer. A side note to this, I would not be surprised if Nintendo rolled out a small firmware update shortly after Ultimate is launched, this update would be to iron out bugs that popped up during the launch process, typical game launch procedure kind of stuff.

Fortnite gets a Forge-like sandbox mode for custom hijinks
Epic Games today announced Fortnite Creative, a new free-to-play mode aimed at fun, casual play.
Fortnite's new Creative mode is basically like Halo's Forge map-maker. Gamers essentially get to turn their own personal islands into a playground of chaos, complete with vehicles, buildings, and tons of other assets--all of which can be built solo or with friends. With Creative, users are essentially turned into developer-like gods that can edit their own world and place objects, create objectives, and build zany environments on-the-fly. These creations can range from basic barebones battle maps to expansive and robust worlds like we see in dedicated Minecraft servers.
Fortnite Creative is a means of giving players a fun way to cool off from the fanatical battle royale craze and play some custom games with friends. It's also a way to keep players engaged over a longer period (and we all know engagement is Epic's bread and butter) with a side attraction; now when gamers need a break from battle royale they can just jump into Creative and keep playing Fortnite.

BioWare alum Mike Laidlaw working on new Ubisoft game
Mike Laidlaw spent 14 years at BioWare and was instrumental in molding numerous RPG series like Dragon Age. After leaving BioWare, the dev is now lending his talents to Ubisoft for a new unannounced project.
Ex-BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw has joined Ubisoft Quebec, the company today announced. So what is Laidlaw working on? Although Ubisoft Quebec just shipped Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the studio has been working closely with Laidlaw for the past nine months. Given Laidlaw's background for developing and shaping RPG experiences it's possible the project is a new IP or perhaps another entry into the Assassin's Creed franchise.
Development of major games like Assassin's Creed typically rotates across Ubisoft's various studios (Origins was made by Ubi Montreal, Odyssey came from Ubi Quebec) so it may not be a new AC game. At the same time Odyssey has pushed the series farther and farther into RPG territory, and Ubisoft wants to continue melding role-playing and action with intermingled live elements. Laidlaw could help morph the franchise into a more hardcore-based RPG of sorts.

New Far Cry could be post-apocalyptic spin-off
Ubisoft's next Far Cry game will be announced at The Game Awards 2018, but it won't be a new mainline sequel.
Today Ubisoft teased its new Far Cry game, and it looks to be a post-apocalyptic spin-off that takes place years after Far Cry 5. The teaser clearly shows the Montana countryside from the previous game and ties directly into its explosive conclusion. There's also a very real Dead Island feel with makeshift weapons (saw blade-shooting rifles), hinting crafting and exploration will be major parts.
But instead of being a DLC pack, the game should be Far Cry 5's own post-cataclysmic version of Far Cry 3's futuristic Blood Dragon. We expect the game to re-use a lot of Far Cry 5's assets, physics, and content while incorporating new and wacky elements, possibly even adding a Mad Max type of feel. I'm expecting the world to be a kind of smaller playground of chaos.

Starbreeze offices raided on insider trading suspicion
On the heels of financial woes, Starbreeze's HQ gets raided by Sweden's Economic Crime Authority branch on suspicions of insider trading.
Starbreeze Studios, the parent company to Payday developer Overkill, is facing serious setbacks. Overkill's new Walking Dead game apparently isn't doing well, adding more weight to the company's tumultuous financial situation. Starbreeze is now undergoing reconstruction, a process similar to bankruptcy, to buy time to institute a plan. If that wasn't enough its head offices have now been raided by authorities.
The Swedish Economic Crime Office stormed the studio's offices today and seized computers, documents, and other evidence on suspicions of insider trading. Authorities tell GamesIndustry.biz that a suspect has been arrested, and that the company itself isn't under fire for the charges.

Crash Team Racing Remaster teased for reveal at Game Awards
There is no question that Activision was happy about the popularity of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and how well it sold across all platforms. Now, a new teaser has surfaced, is there more Crash in-store for us?
Before we jump into what has been teased, lets do a bit of history on what has already been mentioned. After the success of the N. Sane Trilogy, developer Vicarious Visions mentioned that the popularity of Crash is huge around Crash Team Racing "We get asked about what's next and are we going to see a new game or Crash Team Racing? Yeah, that's a popular one."
Now that the hype for the N.Sane Trilogy has hit a lull, we would assume that Activision already has something cooking up behind the scenes, and what better time than to tease than The Game Awards? Looking towards Hollie Bennett's Twitter we can see that two massive orange marsupial colored dice have arrived at the PlayStation Access presenter's house with the caption "sliding into the Game Awards on 6/12.... - Anonymous."

Resident Evil 2 Remake - Leon/Ada Wong gameplay video
Capcom has released a new video detailing Leon and Ada Wong attempting to survive the threats of Raccoon City, we see some never before scene gameplay the recently released video.
Above we can see that the video has been released onto the Resident Evil YouTube Channel and begins with Leon talking to Ada Wong about getting more help. The video then cuts and we see Leon quietly moving through a building only to be ambushed by a distressed survivor.
Moving along we then see Ada Wong take the stage as she is faced with an obstacle. Wong decides its time to use her "secret weapon" and hacks into mainframe of the building to increase the fan speed, resulting in it breaking and allowing her to pass through the obstacle. We then jump back to Leon who is faced with quite a disgusting looking swamp enemy, as Leon pumps rounds into it we notice that small chunks of its flesh come away revealing a bulging eye ball. Resident Evil 2 Remake is planned for release on January 25th, 2019.

Resident Evil 2 Remake - Unstoppable Tyrant Monster trailer
Will you be able to escape the Unstoppable Tyrant from the new gameplay trailer that has been released onto the Resident Evil YouTube Channel? Claire barely could...
The video begins with our friend Claire Redfield wandering through dark corridors only to be ambushed by a monster almost double the size of her vertically. The Tyrant wears a plain black hat and a long trench coat and only moves at a walking speed which is both eerily creepy and helpful. Helpful in the way for kitting him around for some damage, but creepy because I can't help but feel as if the speed of the walk gives off the vibe that he knows he is unstoppable.
After Claire pumps him with some rounds with both her hand gun and grenade launcher we are teleported to another setting where we run into the same Tyrant. Claire maneuvers around a room dodging a few zombies only to get stuck upstairs, the Tyrant then pick Claire up by her head and then we see an awesome scene where Claire takes out her knife and sticks the Tyrant in the arm. The creepiest thing is that Tyrant barely flinches and just casually looks at the wound she has caused him, almost as if he is purposely giving Claire time to run before he inevitably catches up once again. Resident Evil 2 Remake is scheduled for release on January 25th, 2019.

Waluigi Smash Bros. Ultimate marketing is simply FREE hype
If you have been following Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or just the Smash Bros. series in general, you no doubt know about the community outcry for the addition of Waluigi. Turns out Nintendo knows about the want for Waluigi, they just haven't done anything about it yet.
Waluigi coming to Smash Bros. has gotten to the point where it has become its own living meme. Jokes, puns and numerous other things have been created around Luigi's arch-rival addition and yet we still have no sign of him potentially joining the roster. This perplexes me, large portions of the community are clearly crying out for him to be added yet Nintendo hasn't budged at all, why?
According to Nintendo Canada's Andrew Collins, "I think it's great when something builds naturally because, you know, as a marketer, when you have something that goes viral like that it's brilliant. You can't buy that. You can't create it. And when the fans do something like that, it's amazing. But it's so good to see from a passionate side of things. And let's face it, it's funny. I've seen some of the photos. I've seen some of the artwork that people have created, and it's fantastic to see their passion."

Bethesda to replace nylon Fallout 76 bags
Bethesda wants to make things right, and promises to replace the cheap crinkly nylon bags sent out with the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition.
Right now Fallout 76 is a PR nightmare. The game has been lambasted left and right and has serious issues. Plus there's potential lawsuits surrounding the publisher's no refunds policy. But things got even worse when Bethesda was caught switching out a key part of the game's $200 Power Armor Edition: instead of the higher-end, durable canvas bag that was advertised, gamers who bought the expensive edition received a rather dodgy nylon sack. Originally citing a "lack of materials," things got worse when we found out Bethesda actually shipped the advertised canvas bags to Twitch and YouTubers for free.
Now Bethesda wants to fix things and solve this damning PR nightmare. The publisher today said it will replace all nylon bags with the stronger canvas West-Tek bags, but you'll have to send a support ticket by January 31, 2019 and verify your Power Armor Edition purchase.

Red Dead Online beta resets may not happen, says Rockstar
Rockstar Games may not flip the reset switch during Red Dead Online's beta test, but a wipe could still happen after the mode's official launch.
Red Dead Redemption 2's online beta is quite popular and it seems like nearly everyone who's bought a copy is playing it. Although Rockstar warned gamers that their Red Dead Online data--including character progression, weapons, and content--could get reset at some point, the developer doesn't think it necessary.
"We appreciate all the continued feedback we are receiving on the Red Dead Online Beta. For players concerned about the potential for progress and stat resets, we currently do not have any plans to reset them as part of the Beta's rollout," Rockstar said today on Twitter.

Dragon Age 4 is a long ways off
BioWare is set to show off its new Dragon Age game at The Game Awards 2018, but the game won't be out until 2021 at the earliest.
Everything we've heard about BioWare's new Dragon Age game makes us believe it'll carry mainline sequel status and officially be referred to as Dragon Age 4. Although BioWare teased it back in 2016, we know the project is still in early stages of development based on how high-level execs talked about it. Now sources have corroborated our belief that Dragon Age 4 won't be out for a long time.
Sources familiar with BioWare's plans tell VentureBeat that Dragon Age 4 is at least three years away, which aligns with our predictions. The reason is simple: BioWare is focusing strongly on its big new IP Anthem, which represents a massive turning point and lucrative revenue opportunity for the company. Anthem is a live service shooter aimed at tapping EA's engagement model, which sees millions of gamers generating billions every year via microtransactions, subscriptions, and digital purchases.

Payday publisher Starbreeze files for bankruptcy
Payday publisher Starbreeze Studios has filed for Sweden's version of bankruptcy after worrisome financial issues.
Starbreeze today filed it and its entire web of subsidiaries for a protective process called reconstruction after realizing it wouldn't meet its quarterly earnings targets. Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson has resigned as a result of the money issues.
The company appears to have over-relied on Overkill's The Walking Dead to help buffer sales revenue (or at the very least offset the marketing spend for the game) for its fourth quarter, but the game under-delivered and forced the publisher to tighten its development belt. But this new spending plan wasn't enough and it became clear that insolvency was the answer.
