Chrome, Firefox extension plays random TV show episodes
The downside is not all shows are available: creator 'minervaheavyindustries' must add shows manually before they are supported. However, as of right now, the list is pretty hefty at nearly 100 titles, including tons of popular ones like Californication, Futurama, That 70s Show, X-Files, and Sons of Anarchy. If you'd like to see a show added, contact the creator via Reddit or leave a review on the Chrome or Firefox pages.

Final Fantasy XV's $25 season pass includes 6 DLC packs
Final Fantasy XV will have a season pass that unlocks access to six pieces of DLC content, three of which will be story-based.
According to Gematsu, who spotted a listing on the JP PlayStation Store, Final Fantasy XV's illustrious season pass will cost $25 includes three story-based episodes that possibly explore the backstory of the game's party members: Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus. Considering FF15 already tells the story of Noctis, the player character, it stands to reason Square Enix would love an opportunity to flesh out the other party members. Sony has since taken down the listing.
So far the season pass isn't available for purchase on its own; you have to buy the $84.99 Digital Premium Edition (DLC + main game) or grab the Season Pass Upgrade, which is only available to those who have already pre-ordered the game on PSN. The six DLC packs are as follows:

Leading CS:GO skin trade site applies for gambling license
Rather than shutting down and ceasing all gambling activity as per Valve's orders, a major CS:GO gambling site is applying for a legal gambling license.
CSGO Lounge, one of the biggest players in the Counter-Strike GO skin trade, plans to apply for a legal gambling license so it can keep its lucrative business afloat. The site has put up an age gate to restrict betting to users 18 years or older, and you won't be able to bet unless eSports gambling is legal in your country.
"We have decided to acquire a license to legally operate in most of the countries and be able to accept the esports bets by our community, as if it would be real money," reads an update on CSGO Lounge's site.

Xbox One S teardown reveals SATA III hard drive, 802.11ac, 6-pin PSU
iFixit cleaves open the Xbox One S's small skin to reveal its inner guts, showing some decent hardware jumps over the original Xbox One.
We already know that Microsoft's new $299 Xbox One S packs the same GPU/CPU hardware as the original Xbox One, only better: the S model's GPU has been overclocked to 914MHz (from XO's 853MHz) and is now housed on a new ultra-efficient 16nm FinFET SoC chip. But a new Xbox One S teardown from iFixit reveals some other interesting component upgrades that the Xbox slim offers, namely a SATA III 6.0 Gbps hard drive, a 802.11ac wireless chip, and HDMI 2.0a connectivity. Plus it's quite easy to repair!
Here are the particulars:

Xbox One S supports native 4K gaming with unlocked 4K frame buffer
Microsoft's new $299 Xbox One S technically supports native 4K gaming, but don't expect to see the console run blockbusters like Battlefield 1 in 4K.
Yesterday we reported that the new Xbox One S rocks tweaked hardware to deliver noticeable performance gains across the board, including in-game FPS and power efficiency. Now Xbox exec Albert Penello has confirmed to Eurogamer that the new 40% smaller Xbox One S has an unlocked 4K frame buffer that developers can access to technically enable native 4K gaming--but only for limited games like indies.
Digital Foundry: "Can developers address a 4K framebuffer? Obviously we can't expect native 4K triple-A gaming, but simpler titles and 2D games could potentially work well - plus existing Xbox One owners would get 2x super-sampling."

Xbox One S uses 16nm APU from AMD, overclocked 61MHz over Xbox One
Microsoft has released its tweaked and refined Xbox One S console, but now that it's here, we know that the GPU inside of the new Xbox One S console is actually faster than the one in the current Xbox One unit.
The new Xbox One S not only features its GPU clocked at 914MHz, compared to the 853MHz on the Xbox One. On a more technical side of things, Microsoft has used a new APU from AMD that is made on the 16nm FinFET process in the Xbox One S, down from the 28nm APU found in the Xbox One.
The new 16nm APU is clocked 7% faster than the 28nm APU inside of the Xbox One, improving the maximum compute performance and with the increased ESRAM bandwidth, we have a slightly faster console. The additional performance from the 7% overclock on the GPU will result in games that feature an unlocked framerate, or GPU-limited games where performance suffers on the Xbox One, the new Xbox One S will have less FPS drops, and a smoother gaming experience.

No Man's Sky day one update to render leaked footage completely moot
Hello Games is readying a patch update to fix No Man's Sky's most notorious glitches and wipe away all those pesky bugs outed by the leaked footage.
We've been keeping a close eye on all the leaked No Man's Sky footage that's been trickling onto the web, critiquing our worries and making note of bugs, glitches, and rather worrisome mechanics. The information shown in the leaks has fractured the No Man's Sky fanbase, and for good reason--using Atlas Stones, a gamer was able to reach the center of the universe in less than two days time. There's also some other pretty serious in-game bugs that hint No Man's Sky wasn't entirely finished when it went gold.
As I suspected, these leakers are playing the unfinished, unpatched version of No Man's Sky, and it won't be the version we get on August 9. Sean Murray has just confirmed that Hello Games is finalizing the game's first update which will likely be deployed as the coveted day one update, wiping the slate clean and making all the leaked content particularly moot.

HTC posts $133 million loss for Q2 2016, even with strong Vive sales
HTC has just posted its Q2 2016 financials, with the Taiwanese giant bleeding another $133 million for the quarter, even with strong Vive and HTC 10 smartphone sales.
Compared to the same quarter of 2015, HTC's sales are down 42.7%, but not as bad as the quarter that just passed, where HTC sales plummeted by 64%. This is the fifth quarter in a row that HTC has had troubles financially, but when the company saw that it was going to have a hit with the Vive headset, it creates its own subsidiary company known as HTC Vive Tech Corporation in order to manage it.
The company received a $100 million fund to expand the Vive ecosystem, and sales from this division count towards HTC's overall earnings. HTC has been shy on revealing the amount of Vive headsets that it has shipped, which would be nice to know right about now.

Samsung's new Gear VR is backwards compatible with older Galaxy phones
Samsung unveiled its next-gen Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, impressing people with the upgraded hardware, new S Pen abilities and iris scanner - but there was a new Gear VR announced at the same time, too.
The new Gear VR headset has a dedicated Home button, a revamped touchpad on the right side, and a blue/black finish that looks awesome. The new Gear VR has a wider field of view, offering 101-degree FOV versus 96-degree FOV on the previous-gen Gear VR headset. We also have USB Type-C connectivity, ready for the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
Samsung includes a dongle in the box that lets you use the new Gear VR with older Galaxy and Galaxy Note smartphones, so you're not forced into plonking down close to $1000 for the new Galaxy Note 7 (for as awesome as it is, however).

NVIDIA's new Titan X is 50% faster than GTX 1080 at 11,520 x 2160
My review of NVIDIA's new Titan X graphics card will be up in the next couple of hours, and it's completely glowing - due to the fact that the Pascal-based $1200 graphics card has amazing performance.
But, I like the push the boundaries of everything that I test, so I set up my triple 4K monitor rig and cranked the resolution up to 11,520 x 2160 and tested out the new Titan X to see if it would have the same ~20% or so performance benefit over the GP104-based GeForce GTX 1080. Well, I was wrong - it's faster than that, with a huge 51.4% lead in Heaven so far.
I'm currently testing a few other games at 11,520 x 2160 and will write a full article up once it's done - but for now, a 51.4% increase in Heaven at this mammoth resolution is making me weak at the knees.

Thermaltake's new Toughpower PSUs can be turned off remotely
If you've got one of Thermaltake's new Toughpower DPS G RGB Series power supplies, you can now turn your PC off remotely if the situation arises.
Thermaltake's new PC Off Remote Control is a piece of software you can install onto your smartphone that will send you notifications if your PSU is acting up - where a fan fails, it's running too hot, or there's over/under voltage issues. The software notification will come up, then you can turn off or restart your PC so that your PSU doesn't run the risk of dying.
The company explains: "The SPM platform provides three alert functions: fan failure, over temperature (over 140℉/60℃), and abnormal voltage level (over/under 5% of normal level) warning alert. That will help users to reduce the possibility of overheating your internal components and burning the PC. When the abnormal activities occur, the warning message will be pushed to the mobile devices and email. The SPM platform allows users to turn off the computer remotely via mobile app when users receive the warning message".

PlayStation division accounts for 78% of Sony's Q1 2016 profits
Sony has been limping through the last few years on a crutch it calls its PlayStation division, which according to Sony's Q1 2016 financial report, is still the case. During Q1 2016, Sony's operating profits dropped 42% year-over-year to $546 million with $15.66 billion in sales for the three-month period.
Sony said the "significant decrease" in sales is because of the stronger yen and a 33.7% drop in sales for Sony smartphones. The company notes weak results in its semiconductors business, with a "significant decrease" because of it, with $132 million in expenses after the mid-April earthquake that hit Kumamoto, Japan.
The PlayStation division continues to do good business, with $3.21 billion in sales for Q1 2016 - an increase of 14.5% year-over-year. Sony attributes the "significant increase" in sales of its PlayStation division to the sales of PlayStation games. We've seen the release of Uncharted 4 which sold over 2.7 million copies in its launch week, becoming the fastest-selling first-party PS4 game yet.

Batman: The Telltale Series is '100 percent broken as of launch'
It looks like Telltale Games is in for a world of hurt, with their latest game getting completely bagged on Steam. Batman: The Telltale Series is being called by some users as "100 percent broken as of launch".
Surely, gamers could adjust the visual settings and resolution for improved performance in Batman: The Telltale Series, but no - this doesn't help. One review on Steam says: "Resolution is an issue, try to set any [resolution] higher than 720p, your mouse gets held ransom in an invisible box at the top left of the screen".
Other users can't even change the resolution in the game, or have issues trying to save their new visual settings (which requires escaping out of the settings completely, which then asks you to save the settings). Moving to the game itself, Steam reviews say that Batman: The Telltale Series is plagued with framerate issues which bring the game down to an unplayable 10FPS, sound issues, and random crashes.

Samsung's new Galaxy Note 7 arrives August 19, features iris sensor
Samsung has officially launched its new Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, skipping the Note 6 to realign its phablet-sized handset with the company's super-popular Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones.
The new Galaxy Note 7 will be available from all four of the major US carriers on August 19, with pre-orders opening up tomorrow. The pricing on the Galaxy Note 7 will be higher than the Galaxy S7 edge, which sits at just under $800 right now. Inside, the Galaxy Note 7 is barely different to the Galaxy S7, with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in the US, Chinese and Japanese handsets - other markets will feature Samsung's own Exynos processor.
It also has 4GB of RAM, the same 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/1.7 lens and OIS, is IP68 water-resistant, support for microSD cards, and 64GB of internal storage. The battery on the Galaxy Note 7 is a 3500mAh battery, up from the 3000mAh one used in the Galaxy Note 5 smartphone.

NVIDIA is already sold out of its new Titan X, priced at $1200
NVIDIA's new Titan X was launched in the last few hours, and while it's priced at a wallet-busting $1200 - it has already sold out on NVIDIA's website.
NVIDIA's GeForce.com website is the only place in the world where you can buy the Titan X graphics card on its own, and I've just checked the site to get some detailed specifications for my own review (which is coming as fast as my fingers can type) - and it is listed as "Out of stock".
The new Titan X is a monster of a graphics card, with 12GB of GDDR5X (up from the 8GB on the GTX 1080) and a nice bump in performance over the impressive GTX 1080. We'll have some content on it flowing in the next few days, but considering they're already sold out - I'm blown away with the response so far.

Firefox 48 update means less freezing, awesome bar gets more awesome
After extensive planning and development, multi-process Firefox (aka Electrolysis or e10s) is here with Firefox 48. The jist of it is this: web content and browser interface processes are now separate, so if a page is hogging resources, your tabs, buttons, and menus will no longer lock up.
E10s is rolling out slowly; to check if it's enabled for you, type about:support into the address bar and check the line that says 'Multiprocess Windows.' If it says '1/1 (Enabled by default', you're good to go.
The awesome bar also gets significantly more useful with the 48 release: many more suggestions, each showing more information now show up when you begin to type in the bar.

Final Fantasy XV will have a $25 season pass
Final Fantasy XV will officially have DLC content that's bundled together in a season pass.
In a move that surprises no one (partially due to the trends in gaming and the fact that Tabata confirmed it months ago), Square Enix will be offering a season pass for future Final Fantasy XV content. What's a bit strange is that we can't exactly pre-order the season pass just yet: the DLC content is only available to those who pre-ordered the game, or on PSN through a special $84.99 Digital Premium Edition.
Doing a bit of math, we see that the Final Fantasy XV season pass equates to roughly $25, so all in all we probably shouldn't expect too much from the content. Then again, CD Projekt RED jam-packed an incredible amount of content with the Witcher 3's $25 Expansion Pass, and Square Enix has a penchant for high-quality games.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update rolling out today
After many months of waiting, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is finally here. Well, for some: the update is a slow rollout as you'd expect, so if you don't see it in Windows Update yet, you will soon.
There are tons of new features and improvements included, among them mirrored Android notifications and texts, Windows Hello third-party support (so you can login into a lot more apps and sites with your fingerprint or face), an Ink-compatible sticky notes app said to feel like the real thing, Windows Defender scheduling and notifications, a performance-enhanced Edge browser with extensions, Xbox Play Anywhere, and lots more.
The update will his PCs first, with Windows Phone and Xbox One afterward. In the case of the Xbox One, it will be called the Summer Update, and will see Cortana return, and Windows Store integration and sharing, among other changes.

Ubisoft might've dropped some major Nintendo NX clues
Ubisoft promises to announce more games that support Nintendo's new NX console-handheld hybrid, reinforcing third-party support for the new hardware.
"We announced that we're developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing," Ubisoft exec Alain Corre said in a recent interview with Games Industry.biz. "Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families... I am still impressed by the re occurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system."
Corre's ridiculous statements on the Wii U nonwithstanding, the Ubi exec seems to hint that Nintendo's new NX console will continue the company's trend of family-friendly gaming. This is hardly a surprise, especially given that's a core tenant for Nintendo's brand focus, but it might give some clues on the unknowns on the NX--especially when we fold some specific reports and rumors.
