Fortnite $3 million winner swatted during Fortnite match
16-year-old Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf would be riding a huge high right now after won a huge $3 million by winning the Fortnite World Cup, and last night had his home "swatted".
Kyle was live streaming Fortnite at the time and mid-match his Dad comes to his door and says that armed police were at the door, looking for him. Kyle leaves the stream leaving his team mates questioning where he went, but after 10 minutes he returns.
Once he returns, Kyle said: "They come in with guns, bro. They literally pulled up, holy shit". Kyle streams daily to his audience of over 640,000 followers, so being swatted at this level is kinda crazy.

UK dark web drug dealers busted selling cocaine for Bitcoin
A handful of UK-based dark web drug dealers have been busted selling cocaine (or a Class A drug) on the dark web, dealing with Bitcoin. The group sold the drugs on the dark web under the brand 'Project4'.

SAPPHIRE's new Radeon RX 5700 XT is here, and it KICKS ASS
SAPPHIRE launched its new Radeon RX 5700 XT PULSE OC graphics card today, one of the first custom Navi cards to be released and a kick ass offering for Radeon gamers. You can read my review on it here.
The new SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 5700 XT PULSE OC has more performance than the reference RX 5700 XT, runs significantly cooler (16C cooler in my testing), and much quieter than the reference model. It offers performance roughly 5-10% better than NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, and all for $409.
SAPPHIRE also includes a new feature in TriXX Boost, which reduces the rendering resolution and upscales it using Radeon Image Sharpening resulting in up to 10-15% more performance in games.

Remedy's new game Control weighs in at 35GB on the Xbox One
Control is right around the corner with its release on August 27, with the pre-load for the game now kicking off on the Xbox One for those who pre-ordered the game.
Now that the pre-load has started we're finding out about the download size of Control, at least on the Xbox One, which is chiming in at 35GB. We don't know the download sizes for the PC or PS4 versions just yet.
I'm curious on the PC version of Control and its size since it will have loads of RTX features included with it, and how much they'll add to the download size. It shouldn't be too much bigger, but it'll be the most loaded RTX game released so far which has piqued my interest.

PUBG Mobile player spending is up 748% over last year
PUBG Mobile is dominating monthly player spending in battle royale games, with a gigantic spike that started in March and hasn't stopped rising. Fortnite is down in that same time, and doesn't even come close to the numbers from PUBG Mobile.
The big difference here for PUBG Mobile is when it reached China two months ago when it was released as Game for Peace, with monthly player spending going from just over $60 million in April to over $160 million in July. Fortnite on the other hand slipped under $40 million per month.
So when people laugh at these gaming phones like the Razer Phone II and ASUS ROG Phone II... tell them just how huge mobile gaming is and how much money is involved. We're looking at over $2 billion in monthly revenue from just three battle royale games on mobile devices, in a single year. This is just three games out of the sea of mobile games, but they push the boundaries of mobile hardware.

Twitch CEO: Streams on Ninja's channel was an experiment
Twitch just messed up so bad that thousands of people--including streamers--are calling for change. Now streaming giant CEO Emmett Shear tries to explain what went wrong.
Twitch is embroiled in a hot fiasco right now. Here's the lowdown: Ninja, the world's most popular streamer and Fortnite guru, recently left Twitch for an exclusive deal on Microsoft's streaming platform, Mixer. Technically his channel was dead and should've been left offline. But since Ninja's channel is so huge, Twitch decided to use it as a big springboard platform to recommend other channels rather than leaving it dormant. One of these channels was for porn. Ninja and his fans exposed it and outrage against Twitch's mishandled regulation exploded on the internet, and the hashtag #TwitchOverParty started trending.
So what happened? According to Twitch CEO Emmett Shear, showing streams on Ninja's offline channel was an experiment. Shear admits fault, but doesn't explicitly underline why Ninja's channel was chosen--but it's not hard to guess. "Our community comes to Twitch looking for live content. To help ensure they find great, live channels we've been experimenting with showing recommended content across Twitch, including on streamer's pages that are offline," Shear said in a statement on Twitter.

New Switch makes launch model obsolete
Nintendo's new refreshed Switch has a better screen, better battery life, and better thermals, making the original model not worth buying.
If you're in the market for a Switch, make sure you get the new 2019 model. It costs the same, looks the same, and comes in a red box, but it has some pretty nifty improvements over the base 2017 model. It's display is brighter and warmer, hinting at a panel revision like The Wall Street Journal reported, and it sports a beefier battery for up to 9 hours of play in Breath of the Wild. It also handles thermals much more efficiently, which indicates the new model sports a refreshed 16nm Tegra X1 214 chip revision.
YouTuber Kevin Kenson dissected the new Switch and discovered some interesting tidbits. Insofar as thermals, the new Switch runs up to 5 degrees cooler in handheld mode, and roughly 8 degrees cooler in the more demanding docked mode that unlocks the onboard Tegra processor for maximum performance.

Dissecting Ubisoft's new Splinter Cell comments
Ubisoft says Splinter Cell isn't dead. Company CEO Yves Guillemot promises it'll come back, but when the time is right. Ubisoft's current landscape gives key clues on what that game (or games) could be like).
Right now Ubisoft cares about two things: digital and engagement. They go hand in hand. Online-driven digital games breed engagement, which in turn generates revenue from post-release content updates and microtransactions. Ubisoft's made a tremendous digital transformation and regularly rakes in billions every year as a result. Any new game will fold right into this plan, including a new Splinter Cell. As a result, Sam Fisher's next adventure could be quite different.
Arguably, Ubisoft doesn't need to bring Splinter Cell back. The Tom Clancy brand is huge, sure, but it's raking in cash hand-over-fist with The Division 2, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six: Siege, live games all (the latter of which is even getting spin-offs). Sam Fisher's singleplayer-driven stealth adventures don't have a place in Ubisoft's roadmap any more, so the series has to morph and change with the times. Sure Splinter Cell had PVP multiplayer as far back as 2004's Pandora Tomorrow, but that's not enough. It needs a strong PVE element to keep gamers playing.

New Shia LaBeouf movie 'Honey Boy' official Redband Trailer
A new trailer has been released for Shia LeBeouf's newest addition to the film industry. The movie will concentrate on the events of a young boy aspiring to become a actor.
Firstly, the above trailer is the Redband Trailer so view at your own discretion. Honey Boy is a screenplay written by Shia LaBeouf and is based on his own experiences as a young child actor and struggling to reconcile with his father while also dealing with his mental health.
LaBeouf takes on the therapeutic challenge of his own father who is an ex-rodeo clown and a felon. We see glimpses of the relationship struggle between LaBeouf's character and his son who is played by Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place). The struggles we see in 'Honey Boy' seem to be an accurate representation of LaBeouf experienced in real-life, which could mean 'Honey Boy' might be LaBeouf's best performance yet.

Supercomputer built 8 million simulated universes in 3 weeks
Scientists are always looking for more updated and better ways to understand the universe we are currently living in and one of the best ways they can do that is through simulations.
According to a new announcement by researchers at the University of Arizona, the Ocelote supercomputer has managed to generate 8 million simulated universes for scientists to study and understand. These simulated universes are going to be directly compared to our actual cosmos, and through the comparison scientists hope to draw a better conclusion of the cosmic events that occurred while also filling in missing data points that are currently puzzling to theorists.
While 8 million simulated universes in just three weeks is certainly an achievement in itself, Ocelote didn't quite have the power to render these universes to every detail, as that would require an astronomical amount of computing power. Instead, Ocelote and the scientists created a system where the computer produced results that are a "sizeable chunk" of the observable universe. It should also be noted that each of the universes created were devised under a completely different set of rules, meaning that scientists have a lot of busy comparison work to do now.

EA should reveal the new Need for Speed on August 14
It looks like EA is about to announce or at least tease its new Need for Speed title, something we knew was coming but it seems EA is packing the hype train a little more in the last 24 hours.
The official Need for Speed website has been updated with a new countdown, something that ends don August 14. This is a week out from Gamescom 2019 which starts on August 20, and this year above all is a very special one for the Need for Speed franchise.
Need for Speed will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, with the first game releasing all the way back in 1994. I remember, as I played hell out of it when it was released. It's actually crazy to think that it has been a 25-year franchise, but it has been a successful ride along the way and I'm excited to see where the franchise goes next.

A black hole the size of our entire solar system discovered
Astronomers have stumbled across a brand new black hole discovery that has shocked and stunned scientists at the sheer size of what they have witnessing.
Astronomers have discovered a black hole sitting at the center of a super-giant elliptical galaxy called Holmberg 115A which is located about 700 million light years away. The black hole that is sitting at the center of this galaxy isn't the standard black hole, its actually about 40 billion times the mass of our Sun and has been observed by astronomers in Chile with the Very Large Telescope.
To put into perspective how big 40 billion times the mass of our Sun is, if this black hole was positioned where our Sun is now (at the center of our solar system) then its size would stretch out past Neptune and Pluto and into interstellar space. According to authors in the published paper, this black hole is "four to nine times larger than expected given the galaxy's bulge stellar mass and the galaxy's stellar velocity dispersion."

Cyberpunk 2077 tells morality-questioning movie-like story
A new interview with a CD Projekt employee has revealed some details regarding Cyberpunk 2077's storyline and what players can expect from it.
The interview was conducted by Polskie Radio with CD Projekt RED's, Pawel Sasko. Sasko is the mission designer for Cyberpunk 2077 and while he didn't reveal any gameplay details, he did reveal some aspects of the games storyline. According to Sasko, Cyberpunk 2077 will give players a movie-like experience and tell a story that is prodominately targetted at an adult audience as it contains adult themes.
Some of these themes will be what people experience in their everyday lives, and some of them will be difficult for some players to face as they will be quite touchy. Sasko says that Cyberpunk 2077 won't shy away from difficult subjects and instead give the player a different perspective to view these subjects from. Judging by what Sasko is saying, Cyberpunk 2077 will really make players question their morals as difficult themes and scenarios require difficult decisions.

Meteor SMASHES into Jupiter, so big we saw it from Earth
Jupiter is simply massive and due to its size and gravitational pull a meteor has collided with the planet and the explosion was so big it was viewed from Earth.
Since Jupiter is so big, it's gravitational pull captures a lot of space debris including meteors that are abundantly floating around space. Astronomer, Ethan Chappel going under the guise of Chappel Astro on Twitter viewed the impact of the meteor and said "Today has felt completely unreal to me. Hoping someone else also recorded the impact to seal the deal."
Another group of astronomers estimated the meteors size, saying that the object was 16.5 feet to 65 feet in diameter and that meteors of this calibre collide with Jupiter between one and five times a month. Above we have a gif of the collision and we can see the impact in the bottom left hand corner of the gif. If you happened to miss last weeks news regarding Jupiter, the Hubble Space Telescope took the best image we have of Jupiter now, check that out here.

US Navy removes touchscreens after 2017 destroyer collision
You would think that the US military would be implementing the newest technology possible into their naval force, but actually the contrary is happening.
According to an article coming out of USNI, the US Navy force will be taking a step backwards technology wise and removing touchscreens from their destroyers over the next 18 - 24 months. The touchscreens will be replaced with conventional helm controls and physical throttles.
This decision has been made after the events of 2017 when the USS John S. McCain destroyer collided with container ship Alnic MC which resulted in the tragic deaths of 10 crew members. After an investigation was conducted into who the collision happened it was found that the warships complex touchscreen interface played a pivotal role in the unfortunate crash.

Twitch promote porn stream on Ninja's old streaming account
If you happened to miss last weeks news, Tyler Blevins, or better known as Ninja left his home platform of Twitch to move to Microsoft's Mixer. Now, Twitch has gone and done him wrong in what seems to be a retaliation of his platform departure.
Following Ninja's transition to Microsoft's Mixer, Ninja has taken to his personal Twitter account to discuss what has recently happened regarding his departure. According to Ninja, "if you go to Twitch.tv/Ninja they advertise other channels, they don't do this for anyone else that's offline by the way, just me."
Ninja continues and says, "there are also other streamers who have signed with other platforms, who's stream and channels still remain the same. They don't promote other streams, they don't promote other popular channels, but they do on mine. I've been streaming for 8 years to build my brand and to build that channel, 14.5 million followers and they were still using my channel to promote other streamers. Well now, there was a porn account, who was number one being recommended on my channel and I have no say in any of this stuff."

Russian rocket explosion sparks fears of Chernobyl 2.0
Last week a video spread across social media of an explosion at a military facility, something that I saw myself but didn't have the time to sit down and write about it until now. First off, check out the video below which shows some pretty crazy stuff:
When I sat down to write this story I noticed it had been picked up by other media outlets, so I checked them all to see if they were showing the actual video of the explosion or simply reporting on it. Well, all I got were reports which make it seem much less severe than the video itself does. None of them have the video embedded.
Authorities have confirmed that the mysterious explosion at the Russian weapons testing range "involved radioactive materials". Rosatom, Russia's nuclear energy company, said in a statement on August 10 that five employees had died along with two military personnel.
