The Batman official trailer drops, our darkest Batman yet with Riddler

Anthony Garreffa | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | Aug 23, 2020 3:45 AM CDT

Batman was last seen in Justice League, and before that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- but the next Batman movie is very different. We now have our first trailer to The Batman, check it out:

The Batman official trailer drops, our darkest Batman yet with Riddler

You can see that Robert Pattinson is shaping up to be a great take on Bruce Wayne, with what seems to be the darkest and possibly most unhinged Batman we've had yet. Even more hardcore than the Batman that Ben Affleck played in Batman v Superman in the warehouse fight scene, where he goes absolutely ballistic and takes down 15+ guys at once.

We get a great look at the super-unique Batman costume that director Matt Reeves has shining in his shots of The Batman, as well as our first proper look at the new Batmobile. The Batman drops on October 1, 2021 afterproduction on The Batman halted back in March 2020 over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hallelujah: Zack Snyder's Justice League official trailer is here

Anthony Garreffa | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | Aug 22, 2020 11:39 PM CDT

It's here... it's finally here. I woke up and immediately watched this today, shed a lot of tears -- and now I'm writing this news. Check out the trailer to Zack Snyder's Justice League in all its glory:

Hallelujah: Zack Snyder's Justice League official trailer is here

Pushing the absolute steaming pile of trash that WB and Joss Whedon put out with the theatrical release of Justice League -- stabbing original director Zack Snyder in the back when his daughter tragically took her own life towards the end of Justice League production.

Well, the fans pushed and pushed (myself included) and we got what we wanted: the original vision of Zack Snyder for Justice League. It's coming to HBO Max, will be a 4-part series at a total runtime of 4 hours (holy freaking crap, so awesome to see) and drops in 2021 on HBO Max and another form of release that we'll know more about soon.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is next-gen exclusive in 2022

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 22, 2020 10:33 PM CDT

Today Rocksteady announced Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and confirmed a bunch of reports in the process.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is next-gen exclusive in 2022

Just like previous reports said, the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game is an online-driven four-player live game that will be next-gen exclusive, and it's not coming out for another two years. The game is being developed from the ground up to target PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, as well as variable perf on PC hardware.

The big draw to Suicide Squad is the four-player action. The game features four playable characters including Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang, all of which have their own ways to move around and special abilities. Rocksteady's Sefton Hill confirms the game is totally squad-based and there will be four character squads even if you're playing singleplayer. The other slots will be taken by bots.

New Batman Gotham Knights game: Everything you need to know

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 22, 2020 8:17 PM CDT

WB Montreal finally unveiled Gotham Knights, their new two-player Batman game. We take a closer look at the new details and outline what you need to know.

New Batman Gotham Knights game: Everything you need to know

For the first time in a long time, the new Batman game won't star Batman. In fact, Batman is dead in the game. Gotham Knights stars four other characters from the bat family--Batgirl, Red Hood, Nightwing, and Robin--and focuses on a "dynamic, interactive" Gotham City that's constantly changing and reacting to your decisions and what villains are doing.

It's basically set up to be a big interactive movie. For example, Mr. Freeze blankets Gotham in ice, changing the roads and the environments completely. This kind of thing can happen depending on which villain your fighting. The storyline is set in arcs, and Gotham is reactive and alive.

Batman is dead in new WB Montreal's new Gotham Knights game

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 22, 2020 1:39 PM CDT

Today WB Games finally revealed Gotham Knights, and Batman won't be in it. Bruce Wayne is dead.

Batman is dead in new WB Montreal's new Gotham Knights game

The next Batman game won't actually star Batman. Bruce Wayne dies in WB Montreal's new Gotham Knights game. Protecting Gotham's streets now falls on a team of four exemplars that must transform from vigilante to hero to knight: Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Red Hood (Jason Todd), and Robin (Tim Drake).

The new cinematic story trailer paints a grim picture of Gotham. Villains run amok, Jim Gordon is dead so the Gotham City PD mistrusts Batman and his kin, and the Court of Owls rules everything from the shadows. Yes, the Court of Owls are in, and there's thousands of dead Talon warriors just waiting to wake up and annihilate our dream-team of heroes.

Crysis Remastered receives new launch date, drops on September 18

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Aug 21, 2020 11:34 PM CDT

Crysis Remastered hasn't had the best launch so far, and while it has been watered down enough to get onto the mobile Nintendo Switch -- we're still waiting for it here on the PC and consoles.

Crysis Remastered receives new launch date, drops on September 18

Well, Crytek has officially announced that Crysis Remastered -- which was originally meant to drop on July 23, has been penciled in for a release on September 18. You will be able to pick up Crysis Remastered for $30 on the Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and PlayStation Store.

You'll notice I didn't list that Crysis Remastered would drop on Steam, but I'm sure it will -- so we'll have to wait and see if Crytek keep us happy (by releasing it on Steam) or feel the wrath of pissed of PC gamers if it's locked to the Epic Games Store.

NVIDIA's next-gen Ampere GeForce RTX 3090 is a triple-slot BEAST!

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 21, 2020 9:14 PM CDT

Well, it looks like NVIDIA's next-gen Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3090 is going to be a true new performance beast -- with leaked images teasing a gigantic triple-slot reference GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card.

NVIDIA's next-gen Ampere GeForce RTX 3090 is a triple-slot BEAST!

I mean, just look at it -- it's absolutely huge. We don't know much else from this new leak apart from the physical size comparison between the Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card (which should have 24GB of ultra-fast GDDR6X memory at 1TB/sec) against the Turing-based GeForce RTX 2080.

The second image shows off the back of the card with that fan on the rear of the card, just like the previous leaks teased. Inside, the GeForce RTX 3090 should pack the Ampere-based GA102 GPU with at least 5248 CUDA cores and 24GB of next-gen GDDR6X memory.

Ubisoft makes Xbox collector's editions digital-only, no disc included

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 21, 2020 5:00 PM CDT

Some of Ubisoft's new collector's editions won't come with a physical disc, the company today announced.

Ubisoft makes Xbox collector's editions digital-only, no disc included

Xbox collector's editions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Watch Dogs Legion won't come with a Blu-ray game disc and will instead be digital-only, Ubisoft says. These expensive $199 editions will come with a special redeemable code instead. As of right now both the Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion editions are sold out, but Far Cry 6 is still available.

Ubisoft didn't give a reason for the change, but it could have to do with lowering shipping and manufacturing costs. Ubisoft may also want to drive up digital sales to boost its total-year earnings. Also this could have something to do with the Xbox Series S, the lower-cost digital-only next-gen Xbox that should be revealed soon.

Epic asked Apple to allow competing Epic Games Store on iOS platform

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 21, 2020 3:29 PM CDT

Apple has produced documents showing Epic Games requested a special side deal to allow direct payments for Fortnite and Unreal Engine games on iOS. The company also wanted the Epic Games Store on iOS too.

Epic asked Apple to allow competing Epic Games Store on iOS platform

Epic Games is taking on Apple in a legal battle that could shake up the industry. It all started when Epic allowed direct purchases in Fortnite on iOS, which denied Apple its 30% cut for all revenues.

This broke the terms of service, and Apple removed Fortnite from the iOS market. Epic knew this would happen and had a legal complaint ready that not only alleges that Apple is a monopoly, but calls for an anti-trust case into the trillion-dollar tech titan.

Square Enix confident in new Avengers game, promises big expansions

Square Enix has strong confidence in its new Marvel's Avengers live service game and assures investors that "powerful" in-game content is coming.

Square Enix confident in new Avengers game, promises big expansions

Apart from Final Fantasy, Square Enix's new Avengers game might be the company's next biggest series. It's a live service game aimed at recurring revenues via in-game cosmetics, and Marvel confirms that gamers can unlock and pay for 80 years' worth of iconic costumes to dress up in-game characters like Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow, and more. Avengers will be a huge opportunity for Marvel and Square Enix vis-a-vis royalties and revenues.

In a recent Q&A session, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda tells investors that Avengers will have lots of post-release content, which is to be expected for a GaaS title. Matsuda says Avengers will have rather robust content right at launch, and he's no-doubt referring to the PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 Spider-Man exclusivity...among other updates.

Tesla stock just breached $2000, sets a lofty new record

Tesla stock isn't stopping right now, with the electric vehicle giant seeing its stock hit a record high, breaching $2000 on Thursday.

Tesla stock just breached $2000, sets a lofty new record

The increase in Tesla stock prices jolted the market capitalization to $370 billion, with Tesla silently driving upwards into its five-for-one stock split that comes on August 21, where it gets distributed to anyone who has Tesla stock.

Once this happens, it could see Tesla be included in the S&P 500 stock index, where if Tesla can secure a place in the S&P 500, funds that track the index are required to buy Tesla shares. We all know what happens from there, Tesla shares continue to skyrocket.

Here's NASA's guide to near-light-speed travel when we work it out

Jak Connor | Science, Space, & Robotics | Aug 21, 2020 2:35 AM CDT

NASA has taken to its 'NASA Goddard' YouTube channel to release a great guide to 'near-light-speed travel', and what you need to consider.

Here's NASA's guide to near-light-speed travel when we work it out

The video NASA has released is quite funny, as it has assumed the viewer has already worked out how humans can travel at near light speed, which is 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second). At the moment, humans haven't yet worked out how to effectively transport humans throughout the cosmos at those speeds, but NASA's video gives some pointers to consider once we figure it out.

The animated video touches on some facts that will need to be considered once humans reach this level of travel. NASA reminds us of travel times, the distances between popular destinations, and shielding for the spacecraft. If you are interested in watching the video for yourself, check out the above link. On a personal note, I really like these short animated videos containing a nice bite-size amount of interesting facts. If NASA happens to read this, keep doing these!

NVIDIA CEO: second half of 2020 will be the best gaming season EVER

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Aug 21, 2020 1:04 AM CDT

We all know that the end of this year is going to be absolutely bananas for all gamers, no matter which platform you're on -- gamers are gamers, and every single one of them would be more hyped right now than any time in history.

NVIDIA CEO: second half of 2020 will be the best gaming season EVER

We're on the eve of not just a big wave of next-gen GPUs from NVIDIA -- but also for the first time in what feels like forever, AMD is about to fire back and enter the high-end enthusiast GPU market again. On top of that, AMD has put Intel onto its knees after being near-invincible, and has next-gen APUs inside of both Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles.

We will see somewhere north of 200 million PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles over the next 5 years, on top of 10s of millions of graphics cards and gaming PCs in that time. So, it should come as no surprise that enthusiast gamer himself, NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang, is hyped for the end of the year.

This is the first PlayStation 5 ad made for TV: 'Play Has No Limits'

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Aug 21, 2020 12:28 AM CDT

Sony has just kick started the TV advertisement marketing for its next generation PlayStation 5 console, which focuses on the 3D audio, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback on the PS5 and its DualSense controller. Check it out:

This is the first PlayStation 5 ad made for TV: 'Play Has No Limits'

The company seems to be concentrating its first wave of PlayStation 5 marketing on its new DualSense controller, which will usher in a "new world of immersion" for gamers. This makes sense for the ad, which -- in its own, very weird way, is (I guess) marketing those things.

Sony's marketing VP, Mary Yee, explained on the official PlayStation website: "Today, I am pleased to share with you our first global spot for PlayStation that showcases some of the immersive gameplay you will experience on the new PS5 console. In our first global digital ad for the PS5 console, you'll see the new console's features come to life through a young woman's eyes and her movements".

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080: 10GB GDDR6X on Founders, 10/20GB for custom

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Aug 20, 2020 9:30 PM CDT

Do you remember those leaks from all the way back in January 2020, where we were teased with specs on the purported GeForce RTX 3080 which saw it have up to 20GB of VRAM. Well, it seems those rumors were right -- but there's something strange going on, too.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080: 10GB GDDR6X on Founders, 10/20GB for custom

But now we're receiving some more confirmation from leaker kopite7kimi, who has tweeted that the PG132-SKU20 is the 'RTX 3080 20G from AIC'. So, the custom GeForce RTX 3080 has 20GB of GDDR6X memory... but what about the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition?

He was asked if the 20GB would be for "AIB models only" to which he replied with a simple "yes". This is an interesting turn of events -- NVIDIA will have the only 10GB models of the GeForce RTX 3080, while AIB partners will be 20GB models only.

The new PG133A board was noticed by @kopite7kimi as the board design for NVIDIA's next-gen GA102 GPU-based graphics cards. The same board is used on different SKUs of NVIDIA's graphics cards, including the x080 and x060 series graphics cards.

Normally they have small board changes, where power stages and memory configurations are changed. But now the PG133A board was spotted in the Korean National Research Agency, which provides certification -- the last step before the product is released onto the market.

Prince of Persia is really getting a remaster this time

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Aug 20, 2020 6:45 PM CDT

It looks like Ubisoft's Prince of Persia series could make a comeback soon, but we don't know exactly when.

Prince of Persia is really getting a remaster this time

Listings for an unspecified Prince of Persia remake were spotted on Guatemalan retailer Max.com, hinting at an incoming remaster from Ubisoft. The listings have since been taken down after coverage went widespread. The listings were for an unspecified game, but the platforms were PS4 and Switch, so we could see a remaster of the PS3 self-titled Prince of Persia or even Sands of Time.

Ubisoft could be saving this reveal for Gamescom's new Opening Night Live digital ceremony on August 27. Show host Geoff Keighley teases a ton of "exciting reveals" for gamers.
