The release date for Broly, the legendary super saiyan, has finally been revealed. Dragon Ball FighterZ players can expect him early next month.
According to the latest edition of the Japenese magazine Weekly Jump!, the legendary super saiyan will be making his way over to Dragon Ball FighterZ on December 5th, 2019. For those that don't know about Broly, he was exiled from Planet Vegeta as a child and how now returned as a fully weaponized adult saiyan.
Above, you can find a trailer showing of Broly in combat, and judging by what we can see, he is going to be a formidable fighter to face. Darksiders Genesis' main character Strife splashes blood on his boots
A new trailer has been released onto the official Darksiders YouTube Channel showcasing the new horseman, Strife, and his two guns.
The video begins with Strife doing what he does best, shooting enemies, and spilling blood everywhere. Sometimes this blood, unfortunately, splashes onto his boots, but according to the video's description, this happens on a "pretty much constant basis". Strife is both impulsive and witty, making for a great comic relief type character that players will most likely get a refreshing feeling from.
In Darksiders Genesis, players will be able to choose between playing Strife or his brother War. Either way, players will be jumping into some sweet top-down co-op action that will pit Strife and War against countless enemies. As they carve their way through demons, monsters, and everything else in their path, they will be hunting down Lucifer. Darksiders Genesis will be releasing on PC and Stadia on December 5th. The Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch release is planned for February 14th, 2020. For more information about Darksiders Genesis, visit this article here.

All Xbox One games should be playable on Project Scarlett
Microsoft has one simple goal with Project Scarlett's backward compatibility: If it's playable on Xbox One, they want it playable on Scarlett.
To preserve the Xbox legacy and massively boost value, Project Scarlett should play four generations' worth of Xbox games in 2020. The huge backward compatibility initiative stretches all the way back to the original Xbox. But what about forward compatibility, and will all third-party devs support it?
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Xbox Studios head Matt Booty talked about cross-gen games development, backward compatibility, and is careful not to promise anything on behalf of third-party developers.

That insane Mad Box console probably won't happen
Remember that outlandish games console that Project Cars dev Slightly Mad Studios wanted to make? Yeah, don't expect it to happen.
Today Codemasters, the devs behind the F1 series of racing games, bought Project Cars developer Slightly Mad Studios. There was absolutely no mention of the weird and rather ridiculous Mad Box console in the announcement. Sources tell GamesIndustry.biz that Codemasters paid a $30 million fee upfront--$25 million in cash, and $5 million in stock.
After shelling out cash like that, Codemasters probably has absolutely no interest in pursuing the Mad Box console idea. It looks like Slightly Mad is going back to doing what it does best: Making racing games.

Sony patent turns shared videos into playable game demos
Sony's new scene-tagging patent basically creates labels for shared screenshots and videos on the PlayStation Network. But this shared media isn't just for watching: You can actually play them.
While scanning Sony's new scene tagging patent, I noticed something pretty interesting: Videos aren't just static, but contain small slices of interactive gameplay that viewers can start up and play. The patent isn't just for sharing screenshots and videos, but actually sharing that particular gameplay slice too.
It's a direct extension of the immensely ambitious game demo patent that lets you create and share game demos on the PlayStation Network.

Cyberpunk 2077 may support mods, tons of new info revealed
CD Projekt RED wants to support mods for Cyberpunk 2077, and may release modding tools for its next-gen RED Engine similar to what it did with Witcher 3's Modkit.
Cyberpunk 2077 could get official mod support in 2020 on PC (and maybe, just maybe, next-gen consoles?) to breathe new life into the game far after release. CD Projekt RED hasn't confirmed mods just yet, but at a recent gaming event in Warsaw, Poland they said it's something they want to do.
Before we get too excited, remember that CDPR's mod tools are usually quite limited. The Witcher 3's modding toolset only allowed modders to adjust settings and features like HUD indicators, difficulty modes, and altering quests. There wasn't any real direct way to add anything crazy.

Cyberpunk 2077 is shorter than Witcher 3, but more complexly layered
Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest game CD Projekt RED has ever made, but it might actually be a bit shorter than The Witcher 3's main story.
CD Projekt RED isn't going with raw size with Cyberpunk 2077, at least when compared to The Witcher 3. Instead it's going with more robust flavor, dynamism, and replayability. The devs confirmed not only is Cyberpunk 2077's Night City technically smaller than The Witcher 3's wide open world, the main experience might actually be shorter too (including all major quests and side quests).
At a recent community even in Warsaw, CD Projekt RED revealed a bunch of new details about Cyberpunk 2077, including the game's main story length. It might not be as big as The Witcher 3, but Cyberpunk 2077's quests are much more layered and less linear.

Cyberpunk 2077's fully mo-capped sex scenes should 'satisfy everyone'
CD Projekt Red is going to give Cyberpunk 2077 players the full sexual experience, with most of the sex scenes players encounter being first-person, and fully motion-capped.
Back in early September it was discovered that CD Projekt Red really is caring about the immersion of Cyberpunk 2077, which is why all of the cut-scenes that players will encounter are in the first-person-perspective. This first-person-perspective view also goes for the game's sexual cut scenes.
During the Q&A event at the New Meta Gaming Bar in Warsaw, Poland, Cyberpunk 2077 developers answered some questions regarding the games cut scenes, saying that what CD Projekt Red has done should "satisfy everyone". Here's what they had to say, "About sex scenes: they did a lot of mo-cap for these, and they believe that their amount should satisfy everyone, which should calm down anyone who assumed that they will just skip those entirely just because the game is in first person."

Resident Evil characters are going to infect Super Smash Bros. Ulimate
It wasn't too long ago that we saw the release of Capcom's Resident Evil 5 and 6 on the Nintendo eShop. Now, Capcom and Nintendo are bringing Resident Evil characters to Nintendo's massive fighter.
The news comes from the official Nintendo Versus Twitter account, which announced that for five days, Chris, Leon, Wesker, and Jill will be arriving in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Resident Evil characters will be making an appearance on the Spirit Board, starting on the 29th of November.
If you are out of the loop with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news, it wasn't too long ago that Nintendo released version 6.0, adding Fatal Fury fighter Terry Bogard to the roster. Shortly after version 6.0 was released the game got updated to 6.1.0 which just fixed some interactions with Terry. If you are interested in checking out the other changes for fighters, visit this link here.

Respawn to push Apex Legends level cap from 100 to 500
Apex Legends has had a level cap of 100 which some players reached pretty damn quick, especially given how addictive the game is -- but now developer Respawn Entertainment has stepped in and has increased the level cap up to 500.
Respawn is also making some changes to the frequency of getting rewards in the game, where getting up to level 100 will see you go from earning 45 Apex Packs up to a much higher 59 Apex Packs. The journey to level 500 in Apex Legends will see you scoring yourself a huge 199 Apex Packs, while new gun charms will drop every 100 levels.
There have been some changes to the XP system too, with Respawn explaining: "Under the old system, there was a large increase in XP required at level 26. Under the new system, we've reduced the rate at which XP required to level up increases from levels 20 to 58. The net impact of this change is that the XP curve should be softer for new players, meaning they will get more rewards, faster through level 58. The maximum XP required per level will remain at 18,000 starting at level 58 (26 in the old system) and will remain constant through level 500".

PlayStation 5 capture/sharing tech is next-gen with 'scene tagging'
A new patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment teases that the next-gen PlayStation 5 console might also have some next-gen capture and sharing technology, something Sony refers to as "scene tagging". The last rumor we had on the PlayStation 5 is that it will cost $499 and ship with an ultra-high-speed 2TB SSD.
The new patent was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office just a few days ago on November 21, 2019 -- which will see Sony taking user generated content and sharing methods to the next level on the new PlayStation 5. The patent centers around "scene tagging" which is used to "characterize user-generated content associated with gameplay information associated with video games".
We should expect Sony to make good use of its AI-powered in-game assistant that I reported about in September 2019 called PlayStation Assist. At the time a new patent was filed for an AI-powered voice assistant that would see you speak into the mic, and the game would then "dynamically respond". I can see the "scene tagging" working in that way -- where you could say "PlayStation -- capture the last 15 seconds and share on Facebook/Twitter/YouTube/Twitch".

Steam's Black Friday sale is almost too good to be true
Looking for cheap PC games? Steam has you covered.
Steam's new Autumn sale (it's basically a Black Friday sale) is pretty damn good, offering steep discounts on some of PC gaming's best titles. Highlights include Portal 2 for just $0.99, Prey for $7.49, RAGE 2 for $19.79, Far Cry 5 for $14.99, Destiny 2 Shadowkeep for $20.99, Dishonored 2 for $9.99 (the first one is only $2.99!), Far Cry Primal for $5.99...and so, so much more.
Valve has an amazing setup for Steam sales now, and you can easily search visually or via a big list of specials. There's no weird hidden games this time around. Titles are even separated into genres to help narrow down the deals.

In 2020, devs will have to make games for seven different consoles
When the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett next-gen consoles roll out in 2020, developers will be making games across seven different platforms (eight platforms including PC). Will last-gen systems hold the beastly Zen 2, Navi-powered consoles back?
2020 doesn't mark a true new generation of gaming. Rather than flipping the reset switch and making users buy all new games and accessories, Sony and Microsoft are launching a next-gen/iterative cycle hybrid. The new PS5 and Project Scarlett systems will deliver a big power leap over current consoles like a true next-gen ladder step, but they'll also support older-gen games and accessories like an iterative cycle does.
Throughout the next few years next-gen will share games with last-gen. Newer systems will basically join their respective families as the bigger, stronger older brother. In this overlap transition period, developers will be making games across seven consoles and eight platforms total:

Halo: Reach will have 6.2 million maps on launch day
Halo: Reach finally launches on the PC and Xbox One on December 3, and now Microsoft has confirmed you won't get bored of the game quickly -- as it will launch with a simply insane 6.2 million maps.
The game will launch with 6.2 million maps that includes both the normal "legacy" maps and millions of community-created Halo maps, millions of maps that were built for Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 that will be available for Halo: Reach games to download and then play in.
Halo: Reach will work differently on the Xbox One compared to the PC, where on the Xbox One it will join The Master Chief Collection, with the new maps being found through the file finder. On the PC however, the expansive collection of maps will reside within Halo: Reach only as games included in The Master Chief Collection launch individually.

NVIDIA G-Sync monitors to improve PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett
Sony will have its PlayStation 5 console out on November 20, 2020 for $499 according to the latest rumors, while Microsoft will kick Sony's ass with the Xbox Scarlett -- a beefier, but more unknown next-gen Xbox from Microsoft. But what about G-Sync?!
According to a new report from TFT Central, "future G-sync module screens can be capable of supporting both HDMI-VRR and adaptive-sync for HDMI and DisplayPort". This news really piqued my interest, because this means that the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett consoles could benefit from this move.
Sony and Microsoft will both be using semi-custom AMD chips for their next-gen PS5 and Xbox Scarlett consoles, but they could also benefit from G-Sync-compatible displays. This is where Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology comes into play, smoothing out the dips in the FPS and taking away the dreading screen tear effect -- a massive, game-changing win for next-gen consoles.

Steam controller going extinct, on sale for $5 now
Like the Steam Link, the strange one-analog-stick Steam Controller will apparently soon be extinct.
Valve is currently selling its weird Steam Controller for $5 for Black Friday, strongly indicating the experimental peripheral is going the way of the dodo. Valve hasn't explicitly said the hardware has been discontinued, but the massive 90% off discount strongly hints as much. Valve did the same thing when they wanted to get rid of Steam Link inventory back in 2018.
The controller never got a lot of traction because of its odd layout. It features dual touch-pads and one analog stick. You're meant to use the analog stick to move and the right touchpad to change the view in dual-axis games, and the left touchpad is a kind of D-pad. I've tried it out and it just feels too inconvenient.

Project Scarlett won't get VR gaming, Microsoft doesn't care about VR
VR won't be a part of Microsoft's next-gen Project Scarlett console for the foreseeable future, Xbox exec Phil Spencer says.
A bit ago a Microsoft patent for room-scale VR gaming stirred up the internet. Everyone thought it was for Xbox and that Project Scarlett, Microsoft's new ultra-powerful next-gen Xbox console, could get a Windows Mixed Reality headset of some kind, similar to Sony's PlayStation VR. But that's not going to happen any time soon...if ever.
In a recent interview with Stevivor, Xbox division head Phil Spencer confirms VR just isn't important for Microsoft right now. VR is simply too niche. Gamers aren't asking for it, so Microsoft isn't delivering it. Plus it goes against the ethos of the Xbox brand, which is spreading services and games across every device on the planet--in contrast, VR is more locked and closed-off.

Jedi: Fallen Order is now the fastest-selling Star Wars game ever
Respawn is on a roll: First Apex Legends hit it monumentally big, and now its new Star Wars game is shattering sales milestones.
In its first two weeks on the market, Jedi: Fallen Order became the fastest-selling digital Star Wars game of all time, beating out previous games like Battlefront, Knights of the Old Republic, and even the old-school Dark Forces games (which makes sense because the latter two were mostly physical sales).
EA announced the news today with a lot of fanfare, eager to spread the word that singleplayer Star Wars games are back. The publisher says Jedi: Fallen Order is also the top-selling Star Wars game on PC in its "initial launch window," and Disney is quite pleased with the game's performance.

Blizzard Black Friday deals: Overwatch for $15, 50% Diablo III and WoW
Blizzard is slashing prices on its biggest games ahead of Black Friday, including Overwatch, Diablo, and even Activision's Call of Duty.
Blizzard's new Black Friday deals are now live on the Blizzard Shop, offering some decent savings on Overwatch (discounted to $15) and other games.
Battle for Azeroth is discounted to $25, which is pretty good, and Diablo III with Reaper of Souls can be had for $20, which isn't bad either.
