New Watch Dogs 2 lead character reportedly leaked
If these leaks are accurate, Watch Dogs 2 will feature a brand new protagonist.
Sullen hacker Aiden Pearce apparently won't be returning for Watch Dogs 2, and now thanks to an accidental leak we have a our first purported glimpse at the sequel's main protagonist. Performance artist and actor TheKingCort, who did motion capture and lent his likeness to the new hipster hacker character, prematurely posted the protagonist on hits Instagram page. King's Instagram feed is now set to private, and the post has presumably been taken down.
Ubisoft has already confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 will release in 2017, likely before the end of April of next year. Since a new Assassin's Creed won't release in 2016, Watch Dogs 2 will likely take its place, but a 2016 release might conflict with Ubi's original statements. AMD also confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 will be optimized for AMD video cards with extensive DirectX 12 support.

Battlefield devs rip on new Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer
Battlefield devs rip the latest Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer, affirming the Battlefield 5 reveal footage will blow it away.
So far the reactions to Activision's latest Call of Duty game are mixed at best, and the competition at DICE have stepped in to poke fun at the footage. "Today I watched the new COD trailer. How quaint! Those cute little free-cam shots, precious 2010 graphics and grade school editing! Quaint!" said DICE dev Roland Smedberg in a deleted Tweet. Smedberg went on to criticize the "ugly" depth of field lighting, and promised that Friday's Battlefield 5 reveal video will be so good in comparison that the "internet will melt".
Perhaps the most hilarious (or harsh) bit was when DICE dev Randy Evans said that Infinite Warfare "looks like a game from 10 years ago." Evans, who is working on the Battlefield 5 trailer, echoed Smedberg's boasts by saying "the internet is gonna crumble!" once the BF5 footage launches. Even DICE's Julian Manolov chimed in by saying "3 and a half minutes of CGI...anyone got a link which shows the actual game?"

Modern Warfare Remastered: maps, dedicated servers and more
Following the official Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal, Activision has outed key details about the Modern Warfare Remaster such as dedicated servers, a fully-fledged progression system, the first three multiplayer maps and more.
As revealed by the leaks, Modern Warfare Remastered will feature 10 multiplayer maps and the "full, iconic story campaign", and the first three MP maps have been revealed: Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire are confirmed. Dedicated servers are in, along with a full progression system, including the ability to reach Master Prestige, unlock weapon attachments, and more. Your old Modern Warfare stats won't carry over. Raven Software will develop the game.
The remaster won't be a separate disc but a full digital download, and is bundle-only with select Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare physical and digital bundles. There are only three ways to get Modern Warfare Remastered: in the $80 Legacy Edition, the $100 Digital Deluxe Edition, and the $119 Gamestop-exclusive digital-only Digital Legacy Pro Edition.

Infinite Warfare is Call of Duty's first interplanetary space odyssey
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has finally been revealed, and Activision has dropped tons of intel about the new game--co-op zombies, interplanetary space combat, and more have all been confirmed.
It turns out the rumors were right on the mark: the new Call of Duty is taking war to the heavens. Infinite Warfare's campaign missions will take players all over the "vast expanse of the solar system" in a planet-hopping foray in space, and one campaign mission even takes place on a "spinning asteroid hurling towards the sun". The campaign is said to feature "large-scale warzones" and will feature three environment types: boots-on-the-ground firefights, dogfights in the skies via airborne jets, and zero-g space combat/starship battles. The Retribution warship will be the campaign "hub", and players will get their very own starfighter called the Jackal.
The game seamlessly transitions between land to space combat without any loading screens, and the Jackal ship will be customizable. Infinite Warfare will also have its own "original" co-op zombies mode that's completely separate from the campaign experience. As far as multiplayer goes, Infinity Ward confirmed that some MP maps will be on different planets and space stations, so expect possible zero-G combat.

Did Bethesda just release its own uPlay-like games launcher?
Bethesda might lock its future games behind its very own games launcher, Bethesda.net.
Bethesda.net isn't just a website--it's also the company's brand new games launcher, and it could be a new DRM gateway for the publisher's future PC games. It looks as if the Elder Scrolls and Fallout developer might be following in the footsteps of EA's Origin and Ubisoft's uPlay with Bethesda.net, and we might see the publisher make its games exclusive to its first-party launcher/storefront catalog.
Right now all the launcher does is host the Fallout 4 Creation Kit Open Beta, but it could be used for something quite different in the future. The launcher links to your Bethesda.net account and has a redeem code function, but this is only for the Fallout 4 DLC closed beta test (right now, at least). As soon as Bethesda.net was revealed, I instantly proclaimed that the studio is making its own uPlay, and I still think it's true. Let's hope I'm wrong, because the studio is really one of the last safe harbors when it comes to DRM launchers.

Dark Souls developer's next game will be on PlayStation VR
From Software's next game will apparently release on Sony's PlayStation VR headset.
We've known for a while that From Software, the diabolical devs that brought us the hellish Dark Souls trilogy, is breaking away from the Souls franchise. Hidetaka Miyazaki even went so far as to say that "it wouldn't be right to continue the Souls series." Although we don't know what From Software's new project actually is, we do know it'll have a port on Sony's PlayStation VR.
The news was gleaned via a recent video on the studio's YouTube channel that chronicles a timeline of From Software releases. The video ends by hinting From Software's newest game could drop in 2017, and it'll release on the full spectrum of platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and the PlayStation VR.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare ARG reveals faction details
A new alternate reality game for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has sent players on a scavenger hunt looking for clues, and the community has unearthed new clues about the upcoming game--including the official reveal.
Activision has just launched a clever ARG for the new CoD: Infinite Warfare that allows players to send messages to Lt. Reyes, one of the main protagonists in the game. Reyes is asking players to compile a code (GCNE3MD4GATF) using hidden digits and letters strewn throughout the Nuk3town map, kicking off a huge community scramble. Things get really interesting when you ask Reyes specific queries in the Facebook messenger app.
When Reyes is asked about "Modern Warfare Remastered" (you have to type it in full), he basically confirms it by saying "stay frosty, soldier, stay frosty". Reyes also reveals the protagonist force, SCAR, the mercenary private military group SATO, the UNSA which is basically Infinite Warfare's version of the UNSC from Halo, and the dreaded Settlement Defense Front aka SetDEF or "The Front". Check below for more info on each. Reyes also reveals the official trailer for Infinite Warfare will drop tomorrow at 12PM EST, so stay frosty.

First Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer now live
After countless Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare leaks and teases, Activision finally publishes a teaser trailer for the new futuristic Call of Duty shooter.
The new Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare teaser trailer is entitled "Know Your Enemy", and gives players their fist look at the game's possible antagonist force called the Settlement Defense Front. Activision also posted a livestream of the trailer on Twitch, and had a SDF bot within the chat posting up some curious phrases. The Call of Duty Instagram feed has also been updated with teasers.
In-store pre-order advertisements for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare were leaked earlier this week, revealing the game's $80 Legacy Edition, which comes with a free copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered. The remastered port features a full campaign and ten multiplayer maps, but Activision has yet to officially announce which maps are included.

Without the reconstruction tech, Quantum Break looks incredible at 4K
Quantum Break wants to be a beautiful game, but when you have sold your souls to your potato gods - this is what happens. Making a game for consoles is the worst thing you can do when you want to make a great looking game which so happens to be one the PC, too. Jeff tore the game apart in his performance analysis, and I tore it apart when I found out Remedy had watered it down so much.
Well, with the reconstruction technology disabled, which renders at a lower resolution and then upscales to your monitor's resolution - it ruins it. But, if you disable the reconstruction technology and crank the rendering resolution to 4K, it looks gorgeous.
In order to hit 4K in Quantum Break, you're going to need some serious GPU horsepower - as DSO Gaming reports that even with their GeForce GTX 980 Ti, they didn't even hit an average of 20FPS. But, it looks absolutely beautiful. The lack of multi-GPU support is because Remedy decided to make it an UWP game, and Microsoft really just hates PC gaming so UWP-based games don't get multi-GPU support. My rage about that subject, we'll leave for another day.

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex requires 16GB RAM for gaming at 4K 60FPS
Forza Motorsport 6: Apex has had its official PC requirements released, with Turn 10 Studios' driving game requiring some relatively modest PC hardware to play the game.
You'll need a decent dual-core CPU with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 or AMD Radeon R7 250X video card. If you want to hit 1080p 60FPS, you'll need a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290X. 4K 60FPS isn't too far away, as you'll need a GeForce GTX 980 Ti or Radeon R9 Fury X.
Other than that, Turn 10 recommends an SSD + 30GB of HDD space for 4K 60FPS gaming, while you'll need 6GB or more of VRAM for 4K 60FPS. Turn 10 suggests an Xbox One controller for your input, which is going to be much, much better than playing Forza Motorsport 6: Apex on your keyboard.

Quantum Break's new PC patch fixes lots, weighs a huge 27GB
Quantum Break has been Quantum Broken on the PC since it launched, with Remedy Entertainment pushing out a new 'title update' for Windows 10 version of the game.
Remedy's PR boss Thomas Puha said that Title Update 2 for Quantum Break on Windows 10 is now available, with the new patch weighing an insane 27GB. Seriously, that's more than what full games weigh in at, with the new patch giving you the ability to turn on/off the film grain, upscaling, and fixes the niggly frame pacing problems.
There are plenty of other fixes, with the full details below:

No Man's Sky VR would be a 'really good fit', says creator
No Man's Sky creator Sean Murray echoes what fans have known since the reveal: virtual reality would be a fantastic platform for the procedurally generated, planet-hopping space sim.
Hello Games' Sean Murray is definitely optimistic about virtual reality, so we could see a VR adaptation of No Man's Sky sometime in the future. In a recent interview with IGN, Murray said that VR is a "really good fit" for No Man's Sky: "I think VR in general is incredibly exciting. I would say I'm a believer. I have this optimism about it. But it doesn't have a killer app yet--I haven't found anything that makes me want to spend hours upon hours in VR yet.I really hope everyone gets it right."
So could No Man's Sky be the "killer app" that virtual reality needs? Could Hello Games' space sim take the mantle as the one singular must-have VR experience and kick off a new wave of excitement for the platform? Murray was still guarded about No Man's Sky on VR, choosing not to directly answer if the game is coming to VR or not.

Guillermo del Toro teases Silent Hills successor
Guillermo Del Toro possibly hints that a spiritual successor to the haunting P.T. could be in the works.
Last night Guillermo Del Toro Tweeted a single image of P.T.'s ghost Lisa that haunts us in two ways: it reminds us that Konami's cancelled Silent Hills (P.T.) will never surface, and cruelly teases us about a possible successor.
We're not sure if Del Toro is actually teasing a new P.T. game, or if this is his way of saying goodbye to the game. The Tweet was accompanied by "Buenas Noches", which translates to "goodnight", so this could just be his macabre way of saying goodnight to his followers. Or maybe, just maybe, Del Toro is indirectly revealing a new horror collaboration with Hideo Kojima.

Leaked 1666: Amsterdam gameplay footage is darkly enchanting
1666: Amsterdam gameplay footage has leaked, revealing a fascinating look at THQ's canned supernatural adventure.
The reel is from a two-year-old pre-release 1666: Amsterdam tech demo, and shows the basic mechanics of what the game has to offer. It takes place in Amsterdam during the 17th century, and players assume the role of a devilish cloaked wizard who uses sorcery to wreak havoc on the city of Amsterdam. The footage shows shapechanging and controlling the minds of animals to cause mischief across the very Assassin's Creed-like cityscape.
While this version of 1666: Amsterdam may not ever release, the game itself isn't dead. Patrice Desilets, a former THQ dev who invested tons of time into the project, has now been given full rights to the game by Ubisoft. I'm beyond excited for this game, and I find something darkly enchanting about the whole idea of a malevolent devil traipsing around 17th century Amsterdam and causing all kinds of despair and destruction. Certainly the game would have its own narrative, and that would be even more mysterious and macabre.

Doom's ultra nightmare mode is so hard id Software can't beat it
id Software ups the ante with Doom's new Ultra Nightmare difficulty, and it's so ruthlessly cruel that none of the developers have even come close to beating it.
Longtime fans of the Doom series know all about the Nightmare difficulty, and how fraught with danger the mode can be. But it's nothing compared to Doom's new Ultra Nightmare mode--the horrendously sadistic difficulty that punishes you with merciless glee. What makes Ultra Nightmare so cruel is its permadeath feature, which completely resets the game if you die a single time. I couldn't imagine beating the first boss, let alone massive hulking behemoths or Spider Mastermind.
id has told IGN that no one in the entire studio has even come close to beating Ultra Nightmare mode. The devs are using the difficulty as a kind of internal competition, but even the masters that created the hellish FPS are getting slaughtered, so what hope do we have?

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare officially trademarked by Activision
Activision has officially trademarked Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, pretty much confirming the next entry in the hit FPS franchise.
Activision filed two separate trademarks for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Infinite Warfare" at the United States Patent Office on April 26, meaning the patents are actually four days old.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was originally outed by an accidental listing on the PlayStation Store, along with leaked pre-order adverts and in-store promos. The game is believed to take place in space, and may be set in the distant future. A special $80 Infinite Warfare Legacy Collection comes with a free copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered, which features the full campaign and 10 multiplayer maps.

Nintendo NX will launch with a 'full software lineup'
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima promises the new NX console will launch with a full assortment of launch games, and that the system will have a long lifespan. In fact, the main reason Nintendo is releasing the NX in March 2017 instead of 2016 is so the NX has enough launch games. Nintendo is rightly choosing to expand the NX's debut library instead of rushing the console out for the holiday season.
"The NX's software lineup will be built-up. Having a full software lineup when the hardware launches is one reason for the #NX launch timing," Kimishima said at Nintendo's investor's meeting (as translated by Cheesemeister 3K)."Also, we must be in a state to release titles not just at launch, but continually afterwards."
Nintendo has learned a lot from the Wii U business model. The company is taking its time to formulate a new plan of action based on careful consideration and methodical evaluation. One of the many changes sees Nintendo abandoning inconsistent, fractured games releases, instead pushing out a steady stream of content for NX owners.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided trailer details augmentations, and more
The latest trailer to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is here, with Square Enix ushering in the new '101' trailer for its upcoming game, showcasing protagonist Adam Jensen as he "makes sure that the events of the past won't repeat themselves".
Because of the issues between humans and augmented people, the problems that arose in Deus Ex: Human Revolution reach a new tipping point. Jensen is then "forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind". Jensen is investigating some issues in the new trailer, as well as a new look at Jensen's apartment.
Square Enix said in a press release for Mankind Divided: "Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy. You'll also discover both old and new acquaintances, all of which have their own agendas. Whether going rogue or by the book, choices never come without consequences. The truth is still yours to reveal".

John Romero pauses Blackroom Kickstarter to finish gameplay demo
The fundraising campaign for Blackroom, the new FPS from Doom and Quake's John Romero and Adrian Carmack, has been paused until a new gameplay demo is ready.
"The team is at work on a demo which demonstrates the kind of gameplay, look and innovative, cool features that make BLACKROOM truly unique - the things we've waited years to put into an FPS and which make us incredibly excited about this game," reads the Kickstarter update.
"There's a hitch here, a hitch that's making us do something that's right for the game, the team, and the community: we're pressing "PAUSE" on the fundraising campaign for BLACKROOM to complete this gameplay demo. Simply put, this will take more time than the Kickstarter has left, so we've decided to suspend the campaign and launch a new one when the gameplay demo is ready. We believe, however, it is the right choice. We know you do, too. Thanks to your feedback, we know we should have included it at launch."
