Rumor: Resident Evil 3 Remake isn't developed by Capcom

Jak Connor | Gaming | Mar 29, 2019 4:00 AM CDT

A recent rumor has surfaced regarding the coming Resident Evil 3 Remake, according to the rumor the remake of Resident Evil 3 will not be developed internally by Capcom.

Rumor: Resident Evil 3 Remake isn't developed by Capcom

The rumor comes from AestheticGamer, who should be noted for the correct reveal of information regarding Resident Evil VII: Biohazard before any official announcement were made. This note gives some form of credability to the source, but doesn't confirm the rumor of Capcom not internally developing Resident Evil 3 Remake.

According to AestheticGamer, Resident Evil 3 is "not what a lot of people are probably going to expect" and that the game isn't "developed by Capcom Division 1 at all". AetheticGamer continues and says that the developer for the game is "very interesting" and that the title will be arriving in gamers hands "a lot sooner than people are expecting". While these claims are quite vague, I can't really see why Capcom would hand over the Resident Evil 3 Remake to another developer when they just released the very successful Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice mod removes FPS limiter, adds FOV

Jak Connor | Gaming | Mar 29, 2019 3:00 AM CDT

Just last week I reported on a mod for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice that removes the framerate limiter of 60FPS, but now a new mod has been released that is much more "safe".

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice mod removes FPS limiter, adds FOV

The mod that I reported on last week required 'Steamless' which is a tool that could possibly ban users since it alters the executable file. This new mod by 'uberhalit' doesn't require the altercation of the .exe file which means that users of the mod will not get banned and joins the other 'safe' mods for Sekiro.

The mod by 'uberhalit' removes the frame rate limiter, adds custom resolutions, 21/9 support, increases the field of view (FOV), GSYNC/FreeSync support and additional support for a borderless window mode. I have provided the full list of features that are included within the mod in the entirety of this post. If you are interested in checking out the mod and downloading it, you can visit it here.

GoFundMe funds a GoFundMe that's trolling another GoFundMe

Anthony Garreffa | Business, Financial & Legal | Mar 28, 2019 11:27 PM CDT

GoFundMe inception is happening in San Francisco, with the company donating $5000 towards a GoFundMe campaign that is acting as both a counter, and troll against a separate GoFundMe campaign.

The legal battle ensuing is over the construction of a Navigation Center, which will act as a higher-end homeless shelter that doesn't just provide a safe place to lay your head at night, but it will offer other services and counselling in San Francisco. Some residents took to GoFundMe in a campaign called "Safe Embarcadero for All" attempting to raise $100,000 that would be used "exclusively for legal and related costs to oppose the proposed Navigation Center at Seawall Lot 330".

This particular GoFundMe has an interesting person at its center with lawyer Andrew Zacks involved in the fundraising through the Safe Embarcadero for All which retains the lawfirm he's a partner at; Zacks, Freedman & Patterson that call themselves "the voice of Bay Area property owners". SF Weekly reports that "very wealthy residents of the eastern edge of the city has raised more than $44,000 in 11 days. The recipient: a lawyer, Andrew Zacks, who is representing the residents in their fight against a homeless shelter that's been proposed for a parking lot on Embarcadero between Beale and Bryant streets".

Risk of Rain 2 brings indie classic into brave new 3D world

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 7:41 PM CDT

Risk of Rain 2 looks like tons of fun, even if it's hard as nails.

Risk of Rain 2 brings indie classic into brave new 3D world

Gearbox today announced Risk of Rain 2 during its PAX East presentation, a new evolution on the indie platformer roguelike. Risk of Rain 2 sees the original sidescrolling platformer reborn with 3D graphics and visuals, ultimately transforming it into a rather appealing indie survival shooter. Up to three other players can join you for co-op chaos as you blast all sorts of randomized robots, aliens, lizard-people and other marauding baddies in a madcap run for freedom and loot.

The sequel, which has been in development for 3 years now, keeps true to the original's premise and form: get as far as you can and collect as much loot as you can before you die. Then rinse and repeat. The graphics are extremely appealing and remind me of a modern day Atari game, complete with that old-school 80s do-or-die kind of feel.

Epic boss: games will eventually be cheaper on Epic Store

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 6:23 PM CDT

The Epic Store isn't really a value-oriented marketplace right now, but that should change as more developers and publishers enjoy strong revenue splits.

Epic boss: games will eventually be cheaper on Epic Store

With major marketing and exclusivity deals stealing headlines, cheap deals are the last thing gamers associate the Epic Store with. But this should change over time, at least according to Epic boss Tim Sweeney. The storefront, which houses a number of games that hopped away from Valve's gargantuan Steam platform, could eventually become a place to buy cheap PC games. This is quite a bold affirmation given the smorgasbord of deals found on stores like Green Man Gaming, Humble, and even Steam itself.

Sweeney's argument is basically this: as devs make more money from the Epic Store, they'll charge consumers less money so they can sell more games. The idea is that potential revenue hits from discounts will be minimized due to the store's 85-15 earnings split.

Got Twitch Prime? Get a year of Switch Online free

Twitch is including some nifty Nintendo loot with its new monthly freebie drop.

With a new promo, Amazon Prime members can snag up to 12 months of Nintendo's premium Switch Online service for free. But unlike Twitch Prime's other free drops, this one doesn't unlock all at once. The promo starts by giving everyone 3 months of Switch Online for free, and then the remaining 9 months can be manually unlocked if you stay a Prime member for the next 60 days.

First you'll have to link your Twitch Prime and Nintendo Accounts together, and then put a credit card or PayPal payment method down for recurring billing.

New Borderlands 1 remaster has 4 player split-screen co-op

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 3:34 PM CDT

On the heels of its big Borderlands 3 confirmation, Gearbox also announced a full remaster for the original Borderlands game.

New Borderlands 1 remaster has 4 player split-screen co-op

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is getting remastered for PS4, Xbox One and PC with a host of new features. The game's visuals are re-vamped for 4K displays and will leverage the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X's higher horsepower for various in-game performance upgrades. But it's not all cosmetic: Borderlands remastered has a ton more loot than usual, and on-screen mini-map, and it'll support skins and new heads via SHIFT codes. The definitive bundle also comes with all DLC.

The most exciting upgrade is co-op, which now supports up to 4 players on a single console. "Borderlands 1 remastered will go from 2 players to 4 players. That's 4 players, split-screen, on one console," Gearbox's Randy Pitchford said at a recent PAX East presentation.

Borderlands 3 has over 1 billion guns

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 2:30 PM CDT

Today Gearbox finally announced Borderlands 3, a massive sequel to the explosively hilarious FPS franchise.

Borderlands 3 has over 1 billion guns

Borderlands 3 is bigger and better than any other game in the series. The sequel not only features practically every living character in the in-game universe--greats like Brick, Tiny Tina, Mordecai, Hammerlock and so many more are back--but takes us off-world to multiple unique locales, complete with their own biomes, enemies, and styles.

Guns are arguably the best part of any Borderlands game, and Gearbox is going way above and beyond here. Borderlands 3 will feature over 1 billion varieties of explosive loot and guns, some baddie-blasters even have legs.

Players that decide to pick up Generation Zero will be taken back to the 1980's but in survival mode. Working in small groups, players will have to scavange for supplies in a world that has been taken over by a variety of machines. These machines will be extremely dangerous to players and will range in difficulty, strength, size, intelligence and variety. If players flee from fights with machines, the scars that are left on the machine will remain as the machine itself will remain roaming in the world, ready for its next encounter.

WCCFtech managed to get ahold of Avalance Studios and asked them a few questions about the game developement wise and if cross-platform play would be available to players. When asked about the games specifications, they responded with "The PlayStation 4 Pro runs at 1440p resolution and the Xbox One X runs at 1800p resolution, it means that the Xbox One X offers a slightly better experience than the PlayStation 4 Pro. All of our console platforms run at 30 fps.".

Twitch.tv update adds 4-person in one screen 'Squad Stream'

Jak Connor | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 3:00 AM CDT

Ever wondered what it would be like to livestream The Division 2 from all 4 perspectives in the one screen? Well that will soon be possible as Twitch.tv will soon be adding 'Squad Stream' and it is exactly how it sounds.

Twitch.tv update adds 4-person in one screen 'Squad Stream'

Twitch.tv will be rolling out a new update to their streaming platform that will allow for content creators to team-up with each for epic 4-person live streams. The new 'Squad Stream' will allow for Twitch.tv partners to stream-up with eachother and all play the desired games within the same window for the viewer. Twitch.tv has throughoutly explained what 'Squad Stream' is in their new blog post. For those wondering about how view counts will work, Twitch answer this in the FAQ they provide at the bottom of their post. Ninja Gaiden inspired platformer 'Cyber Shadow' announced

Jak Connor | Gaming | Mar 28, 2019 2:00 AM CDT

If you remember back to 2011 we saw an awesome release from Yacht Club Games, 'Shovel Knight' hit the scene and was more than very well received the platformer community. Now, Yacht Club Games has unveiled a new title, 'Cyber Shadow' has taken the spotlight.

Ninja Gaiden inspired platformer 'Cyber Shadow' announced

The announcement has come in the form of a brand new trailer and a post onto the Yacht Club Games' website. 'Cyber Shadow' is a 2D side-scrolling platformer that captures classic NES-style games, it also is inspired by Mario level design, the skills of Ninja Gaiden, the enemy designs of Contra and the atmosphere of Batman.

From the trailer, we can see that Cyber Shadow is a very fast-paced reactionary platformer that comes with what has been described as a gripping story and a Pulse-pounding soundtrack by Enrique Martin and produced by Jake Kaufman. According to the post on the website, Yacht Club Games "reached out to Aarne two years ago about being involved with Cyber Shadow. He'd been developing it on his own for years with no intention of going with a publisher - but YCG was the only team he'd ever consider to help him hone his creation." The relationship that formed resulted in "a bit of a codevelopment. YCG is handling the marketing, porting, business side, and typical roles of a publisher so Aarne can focus on the core game development."

Insomniac Games teases Stormland, a new open world VR game

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Mar 27, 2019 11:28 PM CDT

Insomniac Games has just come off of the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man (which was a huge hit) directly into making a new open-world VR game that Oculus just announced called Stormland, an exclusive for the Oculus Rift on the PC.

Insomniac Games teases Stormland, a new open world VR game

Insomniac is no stranger to making VR games or Rift exclusive content, with the developer releasing Edge of Nowhere, The Unspoken, and Feral Rites all for the Oculus Rift. Stormland on the other hand looks to be the culmination of everything the studio has learned from its previous VR games, with what seems like an intuitive, fun, super-hectic VR exclusive.

The new trailer for Stormland shows the story you'll be experiencing, living through a once thriving robot civilization that was terminated by something called The Tempest. The enemies in the game look great with an awesome use of shielding and shooting mechanics, with enemies themselves rolling out with mobile shields that you will have to dive around and go all crazy in the real-world since you'll have the freedom of the Rift controllers versus a traditional controller or mouse/keyboard.

NVIDIA boss comments on Turing on 12nm, AMD Vega on 7nm

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Mar 27, 2019 11:05 PM CDT

NVIDIA didn't unveil a new GPU ar chitecture during its GPU Technology Conference last week, where I had some ponderings on whether we'd see the next-gen Ampere GPU architecture on 7nm unveiled, ultimately we didn't.

NVIDIA boss comments on Turing on 12nm, AMD Vega on 7nm

Jensen Huang, CEO and founder of NVIDIA, addressed this during GTC 2019 where he sad the company isn't in any rush to get mass produced 7nm GPUs because of the confidence he has in Turing. Turing is on the 12nm node and is more efficienct than AMD on 14nm (Vega 10 = Radeon RX Vega 64) and 7nm (Vega 20 = Radeon VII). He said: "What makes us special is we can create the most energy-efficient GPU in the world at anytime, and we should use the most affordable technology. Look at Turing. The energy-efficiency is so good even compared to somebody else's 7nm".

AMD was the first to reach the 7nm node with its new Vega 20 GPU powering the Radeon VII, but even on the exciting new node the Vega architecture can't begin to touch the efficiency and raw power of NVIDIA's Turing GPU architecture. Hell, even the previous-gen Pascal GPUs on 14nm are more power efficient than the 7nm Vega 20. NVIDIA has been absolutely nailing power efficiency on the last few generations of GPUs, learning and making huge leaps and bounds from the Fermi GPU fiasco.

Xiaomi's new 100W charger charges 4000mAh battery in 17 mins

Anthony Garreffa | Mobile Devices | Mar 27, 2019 10:28 PM CDT

If there's one area that I'm loving the advancement of technology in for smartphones, it has to be the world of fast charging. Xiaomi has just sped past the competition with its latest 100W charger.

Xiaomi's new 100W charger charges 4000mAh battery in 17 mins

Xiaomi's new 100W charger has been teased, fully charging a 4000mAh battery from 0-100% in just 17 minutes. If we compare this against Oppo's best 50W Super VOOC charging technology, that throws power at 50W to charge a 3700mAh battery in the same 17-minute period. Xiaomi is onto a winner here, especially if it can get 100W of charging working over USB-C (which supports 100W charging) without too much heat and inefficiency.

It's not an official thing from Xiaomi yet, and simply a test of its 100W Super Charge Turbo technology. I hope we see something like this on the market soon with next-gen smartphones throughout 2019 and into 2020 and beyond.
