Nintendo may stream Switch games via Microsoft cloud servers
As more big names move towards game streaming services, Nintendo is uniquely positioned to carve out a respectable niche in the market.
Here at TweakTown I've long said Nintendo should make its own on-demand streaming service. The subscription would fold directly into Switch Online and allow gamers to stream, rent, and even download specific games for play on the Switch. When the "Game Pass is coming to Switch" rumors circulated I was extremely skeptical: why would Nintendo let that happen when they could make their own Game Pass-like service? According to industry figure Dave Gibson, that's exactly what Nintendo wants to do.
Gibson says Nintendo may use Microsoft's Azure servers to power their Switch game streaming subscription. Sony recently partnered up with Microsoft to bring its own PlayStation Now service to Azure, and Nintendo could do the same. Nintendo could eventually beam popular Switch games like Animal Crossing, Zelda, Mario, and Super Smash Bros. wirelessly to gamers around the globe.

Minecraft Earth AR game brings voxel building to real life
Minecraft is coming to the real-world with a new AR mobile game that chases Pokemon GO's huge earnings.
On Minecraft's 10 year anniversary, Mojang announced Minecraft Earth, an ambitious new ARG that turns everyday environments into voxel playgrounds. Users can build creations in a secret AR layer on our world, making it a kind of pocket within our reality for dazzling constructions and interactive adventures. Survival will also be a big part of the game and players will take on infamous baddies like creepers and more as they trek across the pixellated wilderness.
Minecraft Earth is built on four main principles that involve social engagement in the AR and real-world space: create, collect, collaborate, and explore.

New Evil Dead game may not star original Ash
A new Evil Dead game is on the way, and it sounds like something bigger than another mobile game. But there might be catch: the Ash Williams we know and love might be a bit different.
Bruce Campbell has been talking up a new Evil Dead game for a while now. First he commented about it in August 2018, saying it'll be an "immersive kind of dealio." Then in January 2019 he reaffirmed the project was still happening.
Now in a recent interview with TV Insider on Campbell's role in hosting the new Ripley's Believe it or Not, the esteemed groovy actor talked a bit more about the game. Campbell is set to voice Ash in the project, but the titular hero might've changed a bit from the boomstick-wielding badass we remember.

Epic Store tried to force sale onto devs, and it didn't work
Epic's new PC game mega sale should've been a huge opportunity for excitement, savings, and most importantly, game sales. But there's just one problem: not every dev and publisher wanted to participate.
Epic's recent mega sale forcibly discounted every game on the storefront over $15. If a game costs more then $15, that game automatically had a $10 discount applied to it on top of the sale price set by the publisher. This offered some nice savings on big games like Borderlands 3, dropping all pre-orders by a cool $10. Not everyone was happy about this, namely the publishers that signed exclusivity deals with the promise of more revenues. Rather than letting devs and publishers opt out of the store-wide price drops, Epic offered a blanket discount on top of the sale price.
As a result, publishers literally started yanking their games from the storefront to avoid the sale. The Epic Store is in such a ramshackle state that entire games have to be pulled from the store if the publisher doesn't agree with the sale price. Some of the store's biggest exclusive games have been pulled including Borderlands 3 and The Division 2.

Wanking Simulator teases best wanking experience ever
There are a few stories in my career writing for TweakTown (which is getting close to 19,000 stories now) where I sit back and say "what in the fresh hell is this?" and today, is another one of those days.
Wanking Simulator is on Steam right now, a new game where you play (I'm guessing serial masturbator) Winston Gay in a fictional town called Gay Bay. What do you do in a game called Wanking Simulator without it being banned instantly? Well, you cause as much chaos as you can.
Yes, you'll have to destroy most of the neighborhood of Gay Bay before masturbating to collect points. In the end, you'll get caught by police and your hands-on time (with yourself) ends. The developer teases: "Blow up cars (fun) or be a civilized man whose goal is to quietly wank (boring)".

Black Ops 5 coming in 2020 from Treyarch
As Activision pivots away from new IPs and games towards safer bets like sequels, the company now reportedly disrupts Call of Duty's rotating development cycle in favor of more guaranteed payoffs.
Next year's Call of Duty will be Black Ops 5, sources tell Kotaku, and will be developed by a trio of studios instead of just one. Treyarch is set to handle gunplay and multiplayer whereas Sledgehammer Games and Raven will craft the campaign portion. Before now, development of Call of Duty games rotated among three studios. Every year Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games took turns making titles in the billion-dollar franchise. Following the departure of studio leads Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey ,Sledgehammer has now been relegated to a support team.
This could mean Treyarch and Infinity Ward will be the only teams to have creative control over mainline Call of Duty games going forward. This falls in line with Activision's recent focus on aggressively pursuing wholly-owned IP with new investments, games engines, and sequels. Changing up the rotation could also mean Call of Duty won't be an annualized franchise any more, putting more reliance on the company's other branches King and Blizzard to pick up the slack in between FPS releases.

Blizzard should bring more games to the Nintendo Switch
Blizzard is excited about bringing more games to the Switch and now sees the transforming hybrid handheld-console as a viable platform.
The Nintendo Switch is a huge win for many publishers. It's a new platform that's become a re-release machine in its own right, offering yesteryear games at full $59.99 prices for a new audience. Diablo III was one such game, and thanks to its strong sales and success with the Eternal Collection on the Switch, Blizzard should port more of its big hits onto the system.
In a recent interview with VentureBeat, Blizzard President J. Allen Brack affirms the company sees the Switch as a unique opportunity for ports and games. "It's not ridiculous [to think we'd make more Switch games]. We think of it as another platform. It has some unique properties that the Xbox and Sony platforms don't have. Thinking about what games make sense for that type of console is something we'll never stop doing."

Capcom hits record earnings as game sales skyrocket
Capcom is doing extremely well right now: sales, operating income, and total profits are all at record yearly highs.
Capcom just reported stellar results for its FY2018 period, showing strong growth across its multi-faceted games business. Dedicated game sales were to a new three-year high of 25.3 million units, nearly half of which were from Monster Hunter World's titanic 12 million sales. Other games like the Resident Evil 2 REmake sold 4 million units, and Devil May Cry 5 pushed 2 million copies.
Thanks to Capcom's forward-thinking strategy that folds digital, online monetization, DLC and physical full games sales together in a cohesive plan, the company managed to push its earnings to new record levels. Thanks to rapid game sales, Capcom made an impressive 100.03 billion yen ($901.99 million) in net sales during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019. Operating income was up a strong 13.1% YoY to 18.14 billion yen ($163.6 million). Total profits for the year sat at 12.51 billion yen ($113.17 million), up a strong 14.8% YoY.

NVIDIA expected to unveil faster GeForce cards to fight Navi
NVIDIA is reportedly working on suped-up GeForce RTX graphics cards with faster GDDR6 memory, with rumors suggesting a near 15% improvement in memory clocks from 14Gbps to 16Gbps, which would boost memory bandwidth as well.
The new rumors are coming from RedGamingTech on YouTube, which if true would see NVIDIA releasing a new GeForce RTX 2080 with its 8GB of GDDR6 at 16Gbps resulting in 512GB/sec (from 448GB/sec on the original RTX 2080). NVIDIA will be needing to muscle up to fight AMD and its soon-to-be-released Navi-based Radeon RX 3000 series graphics cards, at least according to the new rumors. We are waiting for more details on Navi at AMD's upcoming Next Horizon Gaming event just before E3 2019.
What about GPU clocks? We could expect higher clocks on new GeForce RTX graphics cards that would replace the current price of the RTX 2070/2080 with higher-end versions of themselves, and then price drops of the current RTX 2070/2080 so they can compete with Navi.

Resident Evil is still Capcom's best-selling series
Resident Evil is still Capcom's most popular series by a long, long shot.
Monster Hunter World is indeed Capcom's best-selling game of all time. Not only did Monster Hunter World oust Resident Evil 5's top spot, but it did so in less than a year and with massive live service earnings to boot. As popular as Monster Hunter is, the Resident Evil is still the king. In its latest financials Capcom outlined some interesting stats showing just how big of a lead Resident Evil has over its other IPs.
We've known Resident Evil is Capcom's biggest cash crop for a while now, and its latest, Resident Evil 2 REmake, has sold 4 million units so far. The figures show Resident Evil has sold 91 million copies worldwide, giving it a sizable 37 million lead over Monster Hunter, which has sold 54 million. Street Fighter comes in at third place with 42 million.

Capcom's game slate thins as it gears up for next-gen
Capcom will only release one big game this year--a huge $40 expansion to Monster Hunter: World--and a few re-releases here and there. This could signal the company is holding back its big guns for next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.
Capcom is one of the most interesting companies out there, and its yearly fiscal reports are always jam-packed full of info. While checking out the data I noticed its new release slate is very light. Last fiscal year Capcom released three huge games that all sold very well: Monster Hunter: World which became the company's best-selling game of all time with 12 million copies, Resident Evil 2 REmake which hit an impressive 4 million units, and Devil May Cry 5 with its "reinvigorating" 2 million sales.
But in the fiscal year ending March 2020, Capcom only has one big game in its pipeline, and it's not even an actual new release but instead the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion.

Next-gen PS5, Xbox Capcom games to be built using RE Engine
In a not so surprising announcement, Capcom's flexible and potent RE Engine will serve as the base for its future games--especially its next-gen titles.
Capcom is on a roll lately. The company just reported record earnings for FY2018, seeing a monstrous $900 million in net sales and $113 million in profit. Monster Hunter: World amassed a massive 12 million copies sold in less than a year, Resident Evil 2 REmake hit 4 million sales, and DMC 5 pushed 2 million. All of these games were built using Capcom's in-house RE Engine. Now the company plans to leverage its strengths to ensure the hits keep on coming, and its proprietary games engine will be the gateway to its future titles.
In a recent fiscal Q&A session, Capcom COO and President Haruhiro Tsujimoto confirmed that RE Engine will power multiple new marquee games that're in development. None of these games are set to release this year though; Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is the only big new title for FY2019. "While we are unable to comment on the specific number of titles or release windows, there are numerous titles currently being developed internally with the RE ENGINE," Mr. Tsujimoto noted.

Fortnite receives limited-time John Wick mode
If you haven't seen John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, I suggestg you do. I saw it yesterday and absolutely loved it, I thought it was the best of the series and in the last 12 months it tops the still-awesome Mission Impossible: Fallout. But now, John Wick is battling it out in Fortnite in a new limited-time game mode.
The new Fortnite mode is called Wick's Bounty, which will see players dropping to the ground to collect the gold tokens inspired by the movie, as they defeat bounty hunters. If you stay alive enough you can collect the gold tokens by taking out enemies and exploring the environment, but when you start getting more tokens you'll be hunted down -- John Wick style.
The new Wick's Bounty LTM has its own challenges that will give you free rewards in Fortnite including Gold Token Back Bling, One Shot Glider, Boogeyman Wrap, and bonus XP before the event ends. You can visit the store to grab the John Wick Set which packs the John Wick Outfit (and it looks AWESOME) as well as the Simple Sledge Pickaxe.

Life-like Super Smash Bros. fighters are freaky yet awesome
Ever wondered what the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighting roster would look like if they were made into a live-action movie or brought to real-life? Well, here is your chance to find out.
Above we have an awesome collage from Raf Grassetti, who is the art director at Sony Santa Monica Studios and worked on the artistic design of the critically acclaimed God of War. From the image we can see a collection of Super Smash Bros. characters brought to life through incredible artistic talent.
While there is no doubt that these renders look incredible I can help but to feel a sense of discomfort when looking at some of them. Bowser looks absolutely terrifying, and so does King K. Rool. Yoshi looks so damn weird yet devilishly accurate if he was an actual dinosaur in the real-world. I think this mixture of uncomfortability yet amazement was what Grassetti was going for as he replied to fan that said "Sonic and Yoshi are freaking me out, not gonna lie", Grassetti replied "That's the point. Glad it's working".

650,000 people vote for a Game of Thrones Season 8 re-write
If you are a Game of Thrones watcher there is a high chance that you have not enjoyed the shows finale season as much as you did the previous ones. Some people haven't enjoyed it at all and there is good reason for it, but is there good enough reason to re-write the entire season though?
Before jumping into why this season could come as lackluster, I would like to say that this post will NOT contain any spoilers for season 8. Many fans of the series, and myself included, believe that this season perhaps didn't meet the high expectational bar that the previous seasons set. Criticizing fans and many reviews on numerous websites expressed their concern with the writing of the show. Many outlets claimed that the shows direction unfortunately took a wayward turn after the shows writers deviated from author George R.R Martin's books.
While I won't get into how the show specifically made fans second guess the writings (as that would include spoilers), I will say that there is reasonable questing surrounding plot points, apparent plot holes, character logic and the length of the season as a whole. With this all in mind, 650,000 people have signed at petition on Change.org for a re-writing of Season 8. While this petition certainly showcases the concern from fans, I don't believe that any amount of signatures will cause HBO to re-shoot the final season as the expenditure would surely not be profitable.

Robert Pattinson or Nicholas Hoult to take the Batman role
Some new reports coming out of two of the largest movie news sources have claimed that Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult are the two leading men being considered for the new actor to take up Batman's cape.
The reports have come out of Variety and Deadline. Variety has claimed that Harry Potter/Twilight actor Robert Pattinson is the leading actor being considered by Warner Bros. However, Deadline has reported that the deal between Pattinson and Warner has not been finalized as of yet and that Nicholas Hoult is also being heavily considered by Warner.
To throw some other names into the mix, The Hollywood Reporter has said that Armie Hammer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are also in the running for the Caped Crusader. The fact that new actors are being considered for the role of Batman comes after the unfortunate news of Batman v Superman actor Ben Affleck hanging up the cape. According to sources who have told Variety, the new Batman movie is expected to begin filming sometime later this year or early 2020.
