AMD's next-gen Instinct MI200 has been in the headlines more and more over the last few months, with a new rumor suggesting the new Aldebaran -- a new compute architecture for Instinct MI200 that will be a dual-die GPU.

The new dual-die Aldebaran GPU has been spotted by Coelacanth's Dream inside of some new Linux patches and hidden in code, with a patch from February 24 referring to the Aldebaran dual-die GPU as 'alde_die_0' and 'alde_die_1'. This would, in very obvious terms, refer to a dual-die GPU -- or MCM (multi-chip module) which is similar to the chiplet technology AMD uses on its Zen CPU family of processors.

AMD's next-gen Aldebaran GPU will be their first multi-chip module GPU that will compete with Intel Xe-HPC and NVIDIA's next-gen Hopper GPUs which should be MCM designs also. In the same patches for Linux it shuold be noted that there are references to HBM2E, which is the faster variant of the super-fast memory technology.

AMD has officially revealed its new Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, so AIB partners are now allowed to also unveil their custom variants with ASUS teasing their upcoming ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and DUAL variants of the Radeon RX 6700 XT.

Starting with the flagship ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 6700 XT OC Edition, which will have the usual triple-fan ASUS cooler that will most likely be overkill for the Navi 22-powered Radeon RX 6700 XT but you know it will not run hot. ASUS is using a shorter custom PCB on the ROG Strix Radeon RX 6700 XT, which lets hot air pass right into your case instead of into or onto the card.

There's no details on the GPU clock speeds of the ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 6700 XT -- but expect it to have the highest GPU clocks out of the box and I'm sure the most manual OC headroom of all of the custom ASUS cards in the new Radeon RX 6700 XT family of cards.

We were hearing things about NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card through the entire of last year, but then hit a roadblock when news came out that it had been "indefinitely postponed". But like Arnie, the RTX 3080 Ti is now back.

According to new rumors from @kopite7kimi on Twitter, who said on February 6 that "things have changed" and that the current specs of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti according to his sources saw it with 10240 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory. But now he has just tweeted again saying "it will have 12GB 19Gbps VRAM" and get this -- ETH mining nerfing will be on the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

No ETH mining for you on the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, sorry!

AMD has started teasing its DLSS competitor through LinusTechTips, where in their latest video (which features yours truly at the beginning) Linus explains that AMD will be launching their DLSS competitor on all platforms powered by the RDNA architecture.

NVIDIA's own Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology reached a new level when DLSS 2.0 arrived, where it helped GeForce RTX graphics card owners keep playable framerates in ray tracing games. Performance boosts in competitive games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War make DLSS 2.0 a game changer for GeForce owners.

But it looks like AMD is preparing its new FidelityFX Super Resolution, which the company will reportedly make available across all platforms that are powered by the RDNA architecture. This means that AMD would be launching its DLSS competitor on not just Radeon RX graphics cards, but also Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles.

GALAX has unleashed its new GeForce RTX 3090 HOF (Hall of Fame) graphics cards to the, well probably 3 people on the planet that were able to buy them -- but one Chinese overclocker has slapped an insane 1000W custom BIOS on his card.

The custom GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 HOF graphics card was tuned and overclocked by Chinese YouTube channel 二斤自制, where there is a lengthy review you can read, too. The card was installed into an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X test bench with GALAX DDR4-4400MHz, a HOF 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, and a high-end Corsair AX1500i PSU.

But where things go to another level is that a custom BIOS was flashed onto the GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 HOF, upping its stock 420W BIOS with what appears to be the custom XOC 1000W BIOS from EVGA and their GeForce RTX 3090 Kingpin graphics card.

NVIDIA's own GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition was a popular card for its unique style, but now we have AXLE and its "custom" GeForce RTX 3090 CLASSIC graphics card that has a sticker on it.

We don't know if AXLE is allowed to customize the Founders Edition as I'm sure NVIDIA wouldn't allow that, so as VideoCardz points out and I will too -- this could be a mistake by AXLE. The listing itself is identical to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition but with a sticker on the fan (on both the front and the back).

I doubt that we'll even see AXLE release its GeForce RTX 3090 CLASSIC as NVIDIA itself, nor does anyone else around the world, have any significant numbers of GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics cards laying around.

AMD has officially announced its new Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, its new mid-range Navi 22-powered GeForce RTX 3060 Ti competitor that launches on March 18 starting from $479.

Inside, the new Radeon RX 6700 XT rocks the first outing of the Navi 22 GPU with 40 Compute Units, with the GPU base clock at 2321MHz, game clock of 2424MHz, and boost clock of up to 2581MHz. We're looking at single-precision compute performance of 13.2 TFLOPs -- console ass-kicking power.

AMD's new Radeon RX 6700 XT packs 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit memory bus with 384GB/sec of memory bandwidth. In reference form, the new Radeon RX 6700 XT uses an 8 + 6-pin PCIe power connector setup with a TDP of 230W.

Palit has just registered 12 new P106-based mining cards with the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) where they will be bringing the Pascal GPU architecture and the P106 back to market as crypto mining cards.

It looks like Palit is working on a few different models with varying amounts of CUDA cores and VRAM counts, with the higher-end P106-100 GPU packing 1280 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR5 memory while the cut-down P106-90 packs 640 CUDA cores and 3GB of GDDR5 memory.

The lower-end Palit P106-90 mining card wouldn't be any good for Ethereum mining as the DAG is 4.11GB and there's only 3GB of GDDR5 available. This doesn't mean it's useless for crypto mining, far from it -- it's just useless for mining Ethereum.

2021 is starting off as probably the worst year ever for PC gamers looking to upgrade their graphics card, but it's not just gamers that are getting the wrong end of the stick -- NVIDIA's own AIB partners are in a bit of a twist, too.

According to @harukaze5719 the AIB partners don't want to produce more GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards, and would rather make custom GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards to "maximize profit in this chip shortage situation". The tweet continued, adding: "NVIDIA did warn. Some says rumors from Feb that NVIDIA will not supply GA102 GPUs are actually due to this reason".

It was a few months ago where GamersNexus explained that NVIDIA's AIB partners said the targeted MSRP of $250 to $300 was too unrealistic, and that "they'd be bankrupt if they sold it at those prices". In order to get their custom GeForce RTX 3060 Ti cards to be priced at under $300 the AIB partners would have to cut down in every single area: a sub-par cooler, and ignoring the GDDR6, VRM, and other PCB components from being sufficiently cooled.

It looks like NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards with blower-style coolers are very silently being discontinued, with VideoCardz reporting that RTX 3090 blower-style cooled cards are being removed from AIB partners' websites.

NVIDIA partners are now removing pages with blower-style GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards from their websites, but there are still blower-style custom GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards. There's no reason behind the discontinuation of the RTX 3090 blower-style cards, but there are a few theories.

First off, VideoCardz is on the money with saying that board partners "might have simply decided to use this type of coolers for their CMP HX models, which will be available through AIBs exclusively starting next month". I even said in my post for the EMTEK GeForce RTX 3090 Blower Edition graphics card: "The daugherboard is a separate PCB that is there solely for the two PCIe power connectors, which is a lot of work for EMTEK to do for a single SKU of the GeForce RTX 3090. Interesting design though, I can see plenty of these being used in crypto mines".

AMD is not very far away from revealing its mid-range Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, with the event taking place on March 3 -- but now we have some early pricing rumors that the RX 6700 XT start at $479-$499.

Tom from Moore's Law is Dead is behind the news, where he says that AMD will price the new Radeon RX 6700 XT from $479-$499 on their website. AMD is using its new Navi 22 GPU for the Radeon RX 6700 XT, with previous rumors of two different versions of the Radeon RX 6700 XT reportedly true according to Tom.

The first SKU of the new Radeon RX 6700 XT will be the reference model that AMD will sell on its website for $479-$499, while the higher-binned GPUs will go to AIB partners for custom Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards. The reference Radeon RX 6700 XT should compete and beat NVIDIA's mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 Ti while the overclocked AIB partner models and their custom Radeon RX 6700 XT cards getting closer to the higher-end GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition.

It looks like Lenovo is preparing a new set of graphics cards, with a custom Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT revealed inside of the 2021 7000P LEGION pre-built gaming PC.

Lenovo shared a video teasing the new LEGION design on Chinese social media site Weibo, with the clip above being of the Lenovo Radeon RX 6800 XT LEGION graphics card. The design itself is pretty much a tweaked version of AMD's own reference Radeon VII graphics card -- the previous-gen Vega 20-based GPU with 16GB of high-speed HBM2 memory.

AMD's own reference Radeon VII graphics card had a slick triple-fan cooler and backplate design that Lenovo liked so much that it seems to have dipped its Radeon RX 6800 XT LEGION and Radeon RX 6900 XT LEGION graphics cards in Radeon VII design and it looks kinda cool -- very chunky, but I'm sure it will also run cool, too.

AMD will make its new member of the RDNA 2 family of graphics cards official on March 3, with the Radeon RX 6700 XT right around the corner. An early look at a custom RX 6700 XT is in the upcoming ASUS TUF Gaming and DUAL variants.

Starting with the ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT TUF Gaming OC graphics card, with a bulky (I don't know why, and I don't like it for a mid-range card) near triple-slot design. We have a higher GPU clock on this card, higher TGP, and requires 8+6-pin PCIe power connectors.

Both of the custom ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards feature 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit memory bus with 384GB/sec of memory bandwidth.

My PC gaming days started in the early 90s but they were super-amplified in the mid-to-late 90s with nostalgic releases from 3dfx in the form of the Voodoo family of graphics cards -- which ushered in the multi-GPU tech as we know it now: SLI. But the last card 3dfx never got the chance to release before it went bankrupt and sold its assets to NVIDIA, was the quad-chip Voodoo 5 6000 video card.

3dfx debuted the Voodoo 1 with 4MB of RAM at the time, and as the releases got crazier -- the competition caught up. 3dfx was in the process of making the insane Voodoo 5 5000, Voodoo 5 5500, and Voodoo 5 6000 video cards before the company went out of business. NVIDIA eventually acquired 3dfx and most of its assets in late 2000.

But now an enthusiast with the best name in the world -- that would be Anthony of course, which I also find a coincidence considering I'm Anthony as well and I'm a huge 3dfx fan and I'm now writing this story -- anyway, Anthony has built himself his own Voodoo 5 6000 with VSA-100 graphics processors he acquired.

I wrote a story in November 2020 about a family photo of 3dfx Voodoo graphics cards, totally nerding out at the time at Al Valentyn and his 3dfx Voodoo collection of video cards.

We began talking over DM and he asked for my address, I agreed and he said he'd send me a prototype box he was working on. The box that Al was working on was a prototype box for the mother of all 3dfx graphics cards: the 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 quad-chip SLI monster.

Al sent the package over to me in Australia and I received it a few days ago, opening it up and being more excited than opening up the box after box of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. Totally nerding out at what was inside, as it wasn't just the prototype 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 box that was sent.

NVIDIA announced its surprise new crypto mining processors last week, with the new CMP models using unknown GPUs at the time -- but now we have the bigger picture.

Inside of the new GeForce 461.72 drivers it has been confirmed that NVIDIA is re-using the Turing GPU architecture for the two lower-end CMP designs, with the CMP 30HX and CMP 40HX Crypto Mining Processors both using a Turing GPU. NVIDIA's new CMP 30HX is reportedly using the Turing TU116 GPU while the CMP 40HX is using a custom TU106 chip.

The higher-end NVIDIA CMP 50HX and CMP 90HX both have 10GB of VRAM, so it's presumed these will use Ampere GPUs and most likely the GA102 GPU. We should hopefully have the bigger picture once these new Crypto Mining Processors start floating out and into the wild.

If you were hoping that the GPU shortage situation would improve this year, I've got some bad news for you -- it's probably not going to happen. You're probably going to be waiting until 2022 to get your hands-on a new graphics card.

Between a lack of GPUs, supply chain issues caused by COVID, scalpers, new consoles, crypto miners and the entire semiconductor industry buckling under the pressure... graphics cards are nigh impossible to find. According to JP Morgan analyst Harlan Sur, the demand for GPUs is 10-30% greater than the output -- as in, how many cards are being made.

It's going to take foundries like TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) to make millions more GPUs so that millions of graphics cards can be sold. It would take 3-6 months to fill distribution channels according to Sur, getting chips into the hands of AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA -- so that gamers, months after, can buy them -- finally.

GIGABYTE has just unveiled another card you'll probably never see, but it still looks great -- with the new AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 ELITE graphics card teased with a "Neonpunk" design. Check it out:

The new AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 ELITE graphics card is cooled with by its huge WINDFORCE 3X cooling system, which feels super overkill for the RTX 3060 -- with 3 x 80mm fans, 5 composite copper heat pipes direct touch GPU, 3D active fan and more under the hood.

As for the GPU itself, the GeForce RTX 3060 is powered by the GA106-300 GPU with 3584 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus with 15Gbps of bandwidth. GPU clocks are unknown at this point, but I'm sure they'll be confirmed very soon.

AMD has announced its new event for March 3 where it will be unveiling the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, the latest member of the RDNA 2 family of cards that... well... you can't buy.

Navi 22 has 2560 Stream Processors, while the Radeon RX 6700 XT should pack 12GB of GDDR6 memory -- equal to NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. AMD's teaser video on Twitter shows that there is no USB Type-C connector on the Radeon RX 6700 XT, unlike the RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT graphics cards.

GPU-Z is an invaluable tool for any PC gamer or enthusiast, with GPU-Z now including support for AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 6700 and Radeon RX 6600 series graphics cards.

AMD hasn't officially made some of these cards a reality just yet, while we know the Radeon RX 6700 XT might be coming in two flavors with a March/April 2021 release we don't know much outside of that. The Radeon RX 6600 is the newer out of the two, with not much know about it so far outside of its leaks earlier this month.

The latest version of GPU-Z also has support built-in for NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 30 mobile GPUs, and all of their new GeForce RTX 30-series powered gaming laptops from various partners. The new GeForce RTX 3060 is also supported, which officially launches on February 25 with an MSRP of $329... well, I guess because it's available early for $500.
