Wolfenstein III teased, dev wants to 'play with the format'

| May 30, 2018 12:24 AM CDT

E3 2018 is right around the corner, so the tease of Wolfenstein III should not come as a surprise, with developer MachineGames themselves the ones behind the rumor this time.

Wolfenstein III teased, dev wants to 'play with the format'

MachineGames designer Andreas Ojerfors was recently interviewed by Eurogamer, where he talked about the developers plans on playing with the character of BJ Blazkowicz, where Ojerfors said that he couldn't talk about it, without "talking about what we're doing". He did however say that if MachineGames were working on Wolfenstein III, it would be revealed for "E3 two years into the future", or whatever that means.

During the interview, Ojerfors said: "[Wolfenstein III would] play with the format a bit. Not because it's necessary but because we would like to do something different. [The New Colossus] is now our third Wolfenstein game [following The New Order and the Old Blood expansion]. If we would continue down that route [Wolfenstein 3] we would play with the format a bit, do something that would interest us".

Star Citizen's new ship pack costs a huge $27,000

| May 29, 2018 11:36 PM CDT

If you're a hardcore fan of Chris Roberts, Wing Commander, and his new game that has been in the works for over 5 years now; Star Citizen, you will have saved up $27,000 for the new ship pack, right?!

Star Citizen's new ship pack costs a huge $27,000

Cloud Imperium Games has introduced a new Legatus Pack that features 117 ships and 163 extras, something that comes in at a huge $27,000. Got your credit card ready? Yeah, well you're going to have to have already spent $1000 on in-game content before you're a VIP to access the product page to buy the $27,000 Legatus Pack.

Spending the life changing $27,000 on a game doesn't provide you with future ships, in-game currency, or anything else in particular. You could get into a dogfight with someone in one of the expensive ships and lose, with your ship gone forever.

Battlefield V system requirements released, needs modest PC

| May 29, 2018 7:44 PM CDT

Battlefield V is surely going to be one of the biggest games of 2018, but what type of PC will you need to play in that gloriously WWII-set battlefield? Not much, at least with the preliminary PC system requirements.

Battlefield V system requirements released, needs modest PC

EA requires that you have an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD FX-6350 processor, with 8GB of RAM and 50GB of HDD space. As for graphics cards, you won't need the latest and greatest to run it - only if you want those high frame rates and resolutions, especially 4K 144Hz G-Sync gaming monitors and 4K 120Hz G-Sync TVs coming soon from NVIDIA with their Big Format Gaming Displays (BFGDs).

You'll need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7850, which isn't too bad at all. I'm sure there's going to be lots of graphical bells and whistles that we'll be able to tweak and max out, for next-gen GeForce GTX 1180 and GTX 1170, as well as all current-gen GTX 10 series graphics card owners.

New Intellivision console in the works

| May 29, 2018 6:06 PM CDT

On the heels of Nintendo's NES and SNES mini-consoles as well as Atari's upcoming new Atari VCS system, is eager to cash in on nostalgia by bringing back the old-school Intellivision.

New Intellivision console in the works

Intellivision Entertainment today announced that it's making a new console that merges both retro and modern gaming and interactivity--which sounds very similar to the Atari VCS. The next-gen Intellivision will have a "new concept, design and approach to gaming" which is built on principles like "affordable, simple family fun." No exact specifications or hardware details were announced, but we do know that 30-year industry veteran Tommy Tallarico is spear-heading the Intellivision re-branding.

According to Mr. Tallarico, the new system will share a few things in common with the Atari VCS: the console will come pre-loaded with classic Intellivision games (likely the Intellivision Lives! compilation) and it will support HDMI for modern TVs. Games will be digital-only which means a games marketplace ecosystem will pop up, but the console will be "much less than $200" so don't expect much hardware power.

Fallout 3 remastered: console mods and creation club?

| May 29, 2018 3:18 PM CDT

Bethesda might be re-mastering Fallout 3 for modern consoles which could mean a direct avenue towards its optional monetized mods marketplace.

Fallout 3 remastered: console mods and creation club?

On the heels of Skyrim: Special Edition's release, I saw a new business model for Bethesda: re-releasing older BGS games and adding console mods and a gateway to its Creation Club storefront. This model would essentially attempt to combine microtransaction monetization via piecemeal purchases in an attempt to pull in recurring revenues while also expanding the life of the game itself. It's likely that today's Fallout tease will fold into this plan as well.

The new Fallout tease is probably Fallout 3 remastered. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Fallout 3, and what better way to celebrate the game than with a full-on remaster with enhanced graphics, boosted frame rates and effects, and full console mod support? Sure Fallout 3 is older but there are still some great mods on the platform and Bethesda likely hopes for a resurgence in both interest and engagement (singleplayer engagement, that is, via mods) and some purchases made on its Creation Club platform.

Madmind Studios' Agony won't receive an 'Adult-Only' patch

| May 29, 2018 5:00 AM CDT

Madmind Studios has announced that PC players will not be receiving an "Adult Only" patch, but instead a small amount of seconds have been shaven off some of the games possible endings.

Madmind Studios' Agony won't receive an 'Adult-Only' patch

The developers have revealed this news through a Steam Community post that details the efforts the developer has gone through to even get the game to pass ratings companies. According to the post "The censorship now affects only several seconds from two endings (out of seven) and some scenes that may be unlocked only after the end of the game. We will be able to show them to you in a video that we are planning to release soon."

Another side note is that Madmind Studios has said that all of the scenes that have been displayed in the titles promotional videos such as trailers or screenshots will not be censored at all. Here is what the developer has said when addressing the "Adult Only" patch: "Secondly, due to legal issues, we are not going to be able to release the Adult Only patch. However, that content does not affect the game in any significant way because the deleted material that was supposed to be added in the latest version of the patch is from two endings (out of seven) and some scenes that may be unlocked only after the end of the game. We are going to publish a comparison video on May 30th, 2018 so you will not miss out anything."

Team Ninja announces that Nioh has hit 2 million copies sold

After almost nine months of the title being released, developer Team Ninja has announced that their title Nioh has reached two million copies sold.

Team Ninja announces that Nioh has hit 2 million copies sold

Team Ninja released Nioh on the PlayStation 4 back in February last year, the PC version debuted later that same year in November. When the title released onto the PC it unfortunately came with numerous issues, some of which included: no mouse support, no key binding support and a lowering of textures in some of the titles cut-scenes. All of these issues were later fixed by Team Ninja through patch releases which then resulted in game being mostly accepted by the Steam PC community.

Team Ninja is celebrating their journey with Nioh by thanking their fans for their support and announcing the achivement of 2 million copies sold worldwide. The developers finish off by asking "were you able to find all the Kodama during your journey?"

Rockstar teases GTA V Online content with cryptic messages

| May 29, 2018 3:00 AM CDT

You would think after a game being released in 2013 that the player-base would be dead or on its way out, well no one can say that for Grand Theft Auto V as the developer has just teased some more possible content being on the way for the titles popular online multiplayer.

Rockstar teases GTA V Online content with cryptic messages

The news has come from Rockstar's official Twitter page and as you can see from the above image, the tweet is a cryptic message for possible upcoming content. The message appears to be reading four electronic music artists: Solomun, Tale of Us, Dixon and The Black Madonna. This immediately suggests that Rockstar is adding a whole new radio station to GTA Online and that these are some of the artists that will be featured on the new station.

Another theory has suggested that instead of a new radio station, Rockstar will be adding a "Nightclub" update that allows players to own and maintain their own nightclub as a source of income. Nothing is confirmed as of yet, the only date we have to go off of is "Summer 2018" so as the months roll in closer we hope to hear a more clear message from Rockstar.

Death Stranding's game setting points towards Iceland

| May 29, 2018 1:00 AM CDT

One of the most anticipated titles to be revealed at this years E3 is Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, the title at the moment has very little confirmed knowledge about it. Hardcore Kojima fans have dissected the recent Twitter posts and have agreed that the setting is most likely going to be in Iceland.

Death Stranding's game setting points towards Iceland

Last week we saw that Hideo Kojima posted a picture of some moss, fans mobilized quickly to begin to look for hidden messages amongst the greenery but it seems that perhaps they were reading to much into the simple picture. Twitter user Rafael Andrade has posted a side by side comparison between rocks found in Iceland and those that Hideo Kojima posted to his Twitter.

Kojima actually came across Andrade's comparison tweet and re-tweeted it which could suggest that fans are on the right track assuming the location is somewhat close to Iceland. This is not the only piece of evidence that points towards Iceland, from the latest trailer we can see in the background of a certain scene that there is some moss in the setting. Kojima posted a very similar image to his Twitter 4 years prior, stating "Only moss lives here???"

PUBG dev says Epic: copyright infringement/plagiarism claims

| May 29, 2018 12:34 AM CDT

Fortnite has been making strides against fellow Battle Royale game PUBG, but not to the amusement of PUBG Corp. which is now suing Fortnite developer Epic Games over "copyright infringement" and "plagiarism" in Fortnite.

PUBG dev says Epic: copyright infringement/plagiarism claims

Fortnite debuted in July 2017 with a single 'Save the World' mode, where gamers would build walls and use them to defend themselves from the enemy. A few months later in September, Epic added the new free-to-play 'Battle Royale' mode into the game, something that PUBG Corp. says is plagiarism and copyright infringement of Battlegrounds items, and the UI.

Bluehole said in September (before changing their name to PUBG Corp.) that the recent Battle Royale mode introduced to Fortnite had core elements and UI that seemed very similar to Battlegrounds. PUBG Corp. also noted that it was regrettable that Epic had released a game so similar to Battlegrounds, as the Fortnite developer was a partner of Bluehole.

PUBG creator says his next game won't be that good

| May 28, 2018 10:33 PM CDT

Battlegrounds was the PC phenomenon of 2017 but late last year and for all of 2018, all eyes have been on Epic Games' smash hit Fortnite which has also been dominating iOS, too.

PUBG creator says his next game won't be that good

PlayerUnknown himself Brendan Greene was recently interviewed by EDGE magazine, and was asked about his next game, something that Greene downplayed and said wouldn't be as good as PUBG. Greene started off with: "Yeah, I am dreading my next game, because it's PlayerUnknown's Next Game. And there's going to be eyes on it".

He continued: "No matter what I do, there's going to be a lot of critics going, "Well, it's no PUBG." And I've accepted that - I am not going to make a game that's going to get like, three million concurrent users, and tens of millions of players every month. But I'm not aiming to make that. I want to make a game I want to play, and if other people want to play it, that's fantastic - but ultimately, if they don't, I'll still have a game that I can play. So that's my outlook: I'm probably going to get shit on, but that's okay".

PUBG dev: we've 'fallen short' with performance improvements

| May 28, 2018 7:35 PM CDT

Any gamer who played Battlegrounds in its first form will know how horribly unoptimized the game was, bringing even NVIDIA's flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Ti to its knees at high resolutions.

PUBG dev: we've 'fallen short' with performance improvements

Fortnite launched with impressive performance across mainstream PC components lkike the super-popular GeForce GTX 1060, consoles and even on the iPhone. PUBG has gotten better especially as it got closer and closer to the 1.0 update in December, but the developer has said that it has "fallen short", even in a post 1.0 world of PUBG.

PUBG Corp. would normally wait for a bunch of optimizations and new things for the big update itself, instead of rolling them out across smaller patches. This is going to change, with the developer noting that they will "announce each of these improvements in subsequent patch notes".

Battlefield V concept art looks absolutely amazing

| May 27, 2018 9:45 PM CDT

Battlefield 1942 was one of my favorite games at the time, completely changing LAN games for me and millions of PC gamers at the time, seemingly forever.

Battlefield V concept art looks absolutely amazing

With the tease of Battlefield V last week, the DICE team shared some of their close thoughts on the Battlefield V franchise, as well as some truly amazing concept art from the game. Lars Gustavsson, the Creative Director of DICE, posted on the Battlefield website with a new article 'Battlefield V - WW2 As You Have Never Seen It Before'.

Gustavsson himself talks about BF1942, where he says: "World War 2. Some say that it was mankind's greatest conflict. For me and the original team -- who back in 1999 shared a dream to expand the shooter genre by adding tanks, planes, and naval units into one large battlefield -- WW2 was always our first choice. The result was Battlefield 1942, and it kicked off a journey I've been a part of ever since".

Battlefield 5 confirmed with premium and 'grind currency'

| May 27, 2018 8:29 PM CDT

We all know Battlefield V will feature real-world money microtransactions, a premium currency that will be used exclusively to buy cosmetic items in-game.

Battlefield 5 confirmed with premium and 'grind currency'

EA has confirmed that Battlefield V will feature a "grind currency" that can only be earned through playing the game. This is a nice touch to the game, as it means players that don't have heaps of money to pump into the game can still benefit, but so too can those who want the premium currency.

There are gamers who see the benefits of this, and those who aren't particularly happy about the idea. For me, I'm kind of on the fence. I get what EA is trying to do, especially after all their issues surrounding microtransactions, but at the same time it's not the best way of doing things.
