Banjo-Kazooie joins the fight in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
E3 2019 - Nintendo has just finished up their Nintendo Direct and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players couldn't be happy with the results, a fan-favorite character will soon be available to brawl with.
Nintendo has cleaned house with their Direct this year at E3, and to cut right down to the cheese for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players we have a new addition to the roster. This character needs no introduction as most of the Smash Bros. community has been screaming both their names for quite some time, Banjo-Kazooie has joined the fight.
So the rumors/leaks were true and my prediction was off. I'm happy Sakurai and the team at Nintendo listened to the community and once again added a character that most people wanted, because of this I haven't been this happy to be wrong in quite some time. The above video has been skipped to the reveal of Banjo-Kazooie and we can see some brief gameplay of the character as well as his dedicated map. Banjo-Kazooie is going to arriving sometime during Autumn of this year. As more information is released, I will be sure to update you.

Witcher 3 drops as low as 540p on the Switch
E3 2019 - Witcher 3 won't look so great on the Nintendo Switch, with resolution dropping as low as 540p while playing on-the-go.
Today CD Projekt RED announced the full 150-hour Witcher 3 RPG saga is coming to the Nintendo Switch, including all of its expansions and DLC. With its immaculate graphics, huge sprawling open-ended world, dynamic quests, and action-based combat, The Witcher 3 looks like it'll absolutely annihilate the Switch's limited hardware. To avoid complete janky performance, CDPR had to drop resolution down quite a bit.
The Switch's lower-end Tegra X1 processor has been a thorn in the side of many a developer, especially with bigger current-gen games. The Witcher 3 will be no exception--in fact it'll push the Switch to its limits. Saber Interactive had to do some serious juggling to get opus RPG running on the Switch.

The wait for Final Fantasy VII: Remake is just beginning
E3 2019 - Square Enix is only shipping the first part of Final Fantasy VII: Remake in March 2020. The rest? Well...those will take some time to complete.
We could be waiting a long time for the entire Final Fantasy VII: Remake saga. After mis-communicating key release info, Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase confirmed FF7R will still be an episodic series split across multiple game releases. Only the first episode will launch in March, and even that's so big it requires two full Blu-ray discs. Kitase says the team is currently finishing up the first episode and the second episode hasn't even been planned out yet.
"Unfortunately we can't say anything more about the future games, because we don't know ourselves," Mr. Kitase said in a recent interview with Kotaku.

Turbo Grafx 16 mini on the way from Konami
E3 2019 - Konami's "special E3 announcement" wasn't a new Castlevania, Silent Hill, or Metal Gear game, but micro version of an obscure 1990s console.
Konami is pulling a strange move and re-releasing a retro version of a console most of us didn't own for an audience that never really asked for it. The company is making a Turbo Grafx 16 mini system complete with built-in games, save states, video options simulating old-school play, and the multi-tap for up to five player action (sold separately!). Yes, Konami is actually selling the Turbo Grafx 16's infamous multi-tap.
We'll see three different regional flavors including the Turbo Grafx 16 (North America), the PC Engine Core Grafx Mini (Europe), and the PC Engine (Japan). And yes, Japan's PC Engine has different games including the region-locked Castlevania Dracula X.

Bungie teases new IP at E3 2019
E3 2019 - Bungie confirms it's experimenting with new projects behind the scenes that're outside of the Destiny series.
The bulk of Bungie's 600-person team is working on Destiny, but some are behind the curtain working on Bungie's next big IP. Evidence of Bungie's next move has been mounting over the years; first it trademarked something called Matter, then it received a huge $100 million investment from NetEase to fund its "bold vision." Kotaku's Jason Schreier also affirms Bungie has been working on a new IP for a while.
"We're about 600 people now. We're primarily working on Destiny, it's almost the entire studio. We've got a few people in the backyard planting some seeds that might grow into some future things," Destiny general manager Mark Noseworthy said in a recent E3 Coliseum interview.

Link's Awakening has Mario crossovers, dungeon editor
E3 2019 - Nintendo is putting lots of heart into its new Link's Awakening remake, including nods to the world's most famous plumber.
Nintendo's charming Link's Awakening remaster is a whimsical romp through Game Boy nostalgia. It's got a beautiful art style, revamped controls and physics, and even some charming Mario cross-overs. Familiar characters and nods from Super Mario Bros. show up on the island, including a Yoshi doll and bow-wows featured in the original Game Boy title. Link's Awakening will even feature side-scrolling levels straight out of a Mario platformer as a homage to Takashi Tezuka, who worked on both franchises.
"As many of you may know, Mr. Tezuka (original director on Link's Awakening and Mario Bros. 3) was involved in creating Link's Awakening, and so characters like Bow-Wow, you see these characters show up that aren't usually in a Zelda series. A lot of the dungeons even have side-scrolling stages which again is not something you see in the Zelda series," Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said in a recent Nintendo Treehouse presentation.

Bungie: Destiny 2 expansions won't carry over via cross-save
E3 2019 - Our suspicions were right: Destiny 2's new cross-save feature won't let players migrate their expansions across multiple platforms.
A bit ago we reported that Destiny 2's DLC won't carry over with the game's new cross-save functionality. Gamers would have to buy expansions like Destiny 2's DLC won't carry over with the game's new cross-save functionality. Gamers would have to buy expansions like Shadowkeep separately on each platform, we posited, and Bungie recently confirmed this in a recent E3 Coliseum interview.
All your Guardians, guns, progress, and data can be transferred across PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia, but your DLC ownership entitlements are locked to whatever platform you purchased them on. So if you buy Shadowkeep on PS4, it stays on PS4. You can't play Shadowkeep on PC unless you buy it from Steam.

Saber Interactive developing Witcher 3 Switch port
E3 2019 - CD Projekt RED's legendary open-world RPG is being condensed to the Nintendo Switch this year, but another studio is coming in to help with porting.
Saber Interactive, the dev team behind World War Z, is porting Geralt's sprawling epic fantasy story to the Switch, a press release today confirmed. While CD Projekt RED isn't directly adapting the game (all hands are on deck for Cyberpunk 2077's launch in 2020), the Polish devs will be intimately involved with the process: "The game is being ported to Nintendo Switch by Saber Interactive in close cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED," reads a press release.
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition brings every post-release expansion--including Hearts of Stone and the massive Blood and Wine--and DLC release onto the Switch. It's being developed to "take full advantage of everything the Switch has to offer," hinting motion controls could be included (this hasn't been confirmed yet though).

New Zelda game is a Breath of the Wild sequel
E3 2019 - A sequel to Breath of the Wild is in the works, Nintendo confirmed at its E3 showcase.
Nintendo's next Zelda game will be a "full sequel" to 2017's landmark Breath of the Wild, a Switch launch game that put strong emphasis on gameplay and exploration over graphics. "The sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development," Nintendo said during its E3 Direct. Breath of the Wild's fun-based approach will be the pathway for future Zelda games--or at least the upcoming one--and the sequel will follow the same real-time action and RPG elements as its predecessor.
The teaser footage Nintendo showed sets a grim tone for the sequel. After defeating the Calamity in the previous game, Link and Zelda go into underground crypts of the ruined Hyrule Castle and inadvertently awaken an ancient evil. The heart of the Calamity is still beating, and resurrects a decrepit archenemy struck down by the Hero of Light.

Animal Crossing Switch delayed to 2020, set on tropical isle
E3 2019 - Nintendo today announced its new Animal Crossing game is set on a tropical island, but it's delayed till next year.
The new island-themed Animal Crossing: New Horizons won't be released in 2019, and has been pushed back to a March 20, 2020 release date to ensure quality and polish. New Horizons is set on a remote isle as part of the exclusive (and expensive) Nook Inc. Charter Getaways package, and sees players founding a town from scratch.
New Horizons will have seasons, lots of new and old characters, and that same whimsical charm that captured an entire generation of gamers since the franchise's debut on GameCube.

Witcher 3 coming to Switch in 2019
E3 2019 - The rumors are true: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019.
The Witcher 3's Switch version will be the full complete edition and includes all expansion. No exact details on performance were revealed, but we're betting CD Projekt RED had to condense their landmark RPG quite a bit to get it running on the console.
"Set to launch this year both digitally and in retail, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch comes with the base game, as well as every piece of additional content ever released. This includes both story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, as well as all 16 free DLCs."

Microsoft ends backward compatibility on Xbox One
Microsoft is finished adding Xbox 360 and original Xbox games to Xbox One's backwards compatibility list.
Backwards compatibility support was a huge driver for the Xbox One's 180 turnaround, and being able to play a ton of old Xbox 360 and original Xbox games is strong reason to buy a modern Xbox console. Sadly that initiative ends this week. After adding support for 600 games, Microsoft is closing the door on backwards compatibility expansion.
"After this week, we have no plans to add additional Original Xbox or Xbox 360 titles to the catalog on Xbox One, but we're excited to continue our work on Xbox compatibility across platforms and devices, which remains a top priority," Xbox's Jason Ronald said in a recent blog update.

Ubisoft's new Greek myth open-world RPG 'Gods and Monsters'
E3 2019 - Following in the footsteps of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Ubisoft have announced a new Greek mythology themed open-world RPG, Gods & Monsters.
Ubisoft have shocked fans at their E3 press conference with a brand new announcement of yet another open-world RPG game. This time taking things in a bit of different direction but keeping the same Greek mythological theme as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, we have the new title Gods & Monsters. At first glance, Gods & Monsters seems to of combined that of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's art style with Odyssey's open world full of danger and mystery.
The game is quite a colorful one and seems to take a much more light-hearted approach towards battling both mystical beats and gods of legend. The most surprising aspect the titles release date, according to the press conference, Gods & Monsters will be released on February 25th, 2020. It will be arriving on the PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox one and Google Stadia.

Adventure Time's Finn & Jake live on in Ubisoft's Brawlhalla
E3 2019 - If you are like me and are a massive Adventure Time fan you were surely sad to see the series come to a close, but what if our favorite characters lived on? Perhaps not in another TV show, but in a game we can all enjoy?
That game is none other than Ubisoft's fightingt game Brawlhalla. During Ubisoft's press conference, the publisher revealed that Adventure Time will be crossing over with Brawlhalla. Players will soon be able to enjoy the likes of Finn, Jake and Princess Bubblegum in some epic fighting game action.
In the above trailer we can get a quick introduction to Finn and Jake playing Brawlhalla on Beemo, after a quick match Finn looses and then challenges Jake to a real-life battle within the game. After a quick Beemo teleportation into the game Finn and Jake are faced with Brawlhalla's roster of fighters. We get a great display of moves and combos from Finn, Jake and Princess Bubblegum, as well as a new game mode for players to enjoy. The Adventure Time art style fits perfectly into that of Brawlhalla's, I cannot wait to jump into the comedic action!

Nintendo warns known leaker with cease and desist letter
E3 2019 - Right before Nintendo is about to kick of their annual E3 Direct a known leaker has spoken out about an official cease and desist letter being sent to him from Nintendo regarding his leaks.
The leaker is known as Sabi and is notorious for Nintendo related leaks of the Smash Bros. series on Smashboards and ResetEra. Sabi was recently on a Twitter rampage dishing out a bunch of 'leaked' information regarding Nintendo's upcoming Direct, and other developer/publisher announcements.
Sabi recently went back to Twitter to say that "I have been given a cease and desist from a lawyer representing Nintendo. They have my full name and everything. This means I'm not allowed to post any private trade secrets from Nintendo co ltd. This does not mean I cannot post things from other companies, but not Nintendo." Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director, Masahiro Sakurai replied to the Tweet saying "I see my ninjas have done their work". I suppose your life is not a safe one when you are a known leaker of game information. Especially when you have Sakurai's ninja's coming after you.

Chivalry 2 E3 reveal, one-year Epic Store exclusive, 2020
E3 2019 - Has kicked off to a mighty start and what better way to catch up on the action than in a first-person swords-and-soldiers game?
Back in 2012, Torn Banner Studios released a game called Chivalry, which was originally a mod called Age of Chivalry for Half-Life 2. The mod became so popular that it eventuated into Torn Banner Studios' Chivalry title which now seven years later has a sequel, Chivalry 2. Chivalry 2 will introduce a bunch of new features, such as more precise weapon swings, better defense mechanics, impressive graphics and gore and doubling in server capacity to 64.
Torn Banner Studios considers the implementation of horses in Chivalry 2 to be the games biggest addition. According to WCCFtech, during the games reveal it was implied that Chivalry 2 will have the capacity to be able to recreate some of the most epic battle charges we have seen in the history of film. An example would be Game of Thrones' Battle of the Bastards. Chivalry 2 will be a one-year timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Check out the above trailer for some gruesome, yet awesome gameplay of Chivalry 2.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake combat: everything you need to know
E3 2019 - The biggest change to Final Fantasy VII: Remake is its new action-based combat system, which is more like Final Fantasy XV or Devil May Cry than the 1997 classic. But Square Enix tossed in a spiritual successor to Wait Mode for good measure.
Final Fantasy VII: Remake's stylish revamped combat in a dynamic 3D environment affords for some crazy action, but it's not just about spamming slashes. Brute force will only get you so far. To take down hulking bosses you'll have to strategically master the game's new forked combat setup. Square Enix explains how its new hybrid system blends both real-time and Wait Mode-style mechanics.
"Succeeding on the battlefield requires much more than just hacking and slashing. Cloud needs to be tactical. He needs ATB," senior manager of product marketing Neal Pabon said during the E3 2019 gameplay demo.

Outriders is a dark sci-fi FPS with Borderlands-style co-op
E3 2019 - Our predictions were right: People Can Fly's next game is set in a new sci-fi FPS IP called Outriders, and it aims to be a darker Borderlands.
At its E3 2019 show, Square Enix announced Outriders, the next big shooter from Bulletstorm and Gears of War Judgement developer People Can Fly. Outriders is a 3-player FPS with drop-in, drop-out co-op action set around a grim and strange fantasy world. It'll sport tons of chaotic guns and hulking monstrosities set on the foreboading planet of Enoch, with a story centered around fleeing a ruined Earth.
We didn't get to see any actual Outriders gameplay, but the cutscenes illustrated some incredibly dark and chaotic sequences that have me intrigued. Outriders has been in development for the last few years and is due out Summer 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Final Fantasy 8 remaster coming in 2019
E3 2019 - It's official: Final Fantasy 8 is getting remastered for all platforms in 2019.
Square Enix today confirmed Final Fantasy 8 will get a remastered treatment, but it won't feature dramatically enhanced graphics and newly tooled systems like the Final Fantasy 7: Remake. The graphics are still decidedly old-school and the classic look and feel is there, complete with Guardian Forces, turn-based combat, and Squall's emo attitude.
Final Fantasy 8 Remastered will release sometime in 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake will ship on two discs, not three
E3 2019 - Final Fantasy VII: Remake will ship on two discs at launch.
Today Square Enix confirmed the first chapter of its massively anticipated Final Fantasy VII: Remake will ship on two discs when it launches in March 2020.
"Remaking Final Fantasy VII has allowed us to dive much deeper into the world and its characters than ever before. The game design was optimized for this as well, and we anticipated two Blu-ray discs worth of gameplay content," said FF7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase.
