Today Square Enix confirmed the first chapter of its massively anticipated Final Fantasy VII: Remake will ship on two discs when it launches in March 2020.

"Remaking Final Fantasy VII has allowed us to dive much deeper into the world and its characters than ever before. The game design was optimized for this as well, and we anticipated two Blu-ray discs worth of gameplay content," said FF7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase.

"The first game in this project expands on the story of Midgar and as such an elaborate re-telling that has become a solid standalone game in its own right."

"We will not disappoint your expectations. Your reunion with the Final Fantasy VII you know is near."

The first chapter, which tells the story of Midgar, will span two full Blu-ray discs and releases on March 3, 2020 first on the PlayStation 4 and other platforms later. No release date information was confirmed for other parts of the game.
