CDPR to show off RPG at E3 2018, likely Cyberpunk 2077
Five years of waiting, snippets and scraps of info from CDPR, and interesting patents have all sent Cyberpunk 2077 hype soaring to new heights...and it could skyrocket even higher after E3 2018.
Thanks to the official E3 exhibitor website we've been able to glean a bunch of clues about what's in store for the show. The latest shows that CD Projekt RED will showcase a RPG at the venue, corroborating recent rumors of a Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay reveal.
Despite not knowing exact details, the last half-decade has exposed a nice helping of info about Cyberpunk 2077. We know the game should feature living, breathing cities with next-generation AI, that it's the biggest and most ambitious game CD Projekt RED has ever tackled, that development on the project is going smoothly, and that it may have an online, connected multiplayer component of some kind--but don't worry, it'll stay narrative-driven with a dynamic story arc. CDPR even opened a brand new studio to help it craft the game's sprawling sci-fi world.

Atari VCS to ship in Spring 2019, pre-orders open in May
Atari releases new pre-order and shipment info on its new Atari VCS gaming/entertainment platform.
The Atari VCS seems like an iffy bet. Essentially the system aims to do what the Xbox One was supposed to back in 2013, while also entering a market completely dominated by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo: the Atari VCS is not only a games console that will come pre-loaded with Atari classics and play Linux-based games, but it's also a PC that can web browse, load apps, and stream music and videos. It's described as a 'connected device' and should pair well with other hardware like phones and even PCs in some capacity. Powered by unspecified AMD Radeon tech the Atari VCS may be as powerful as a higher-end laptop, and aims to do it all while being affordable whilst helping the company enter a new age of digital content with a fully-fledged online storefront ecosystem and dev partnership deals.
As promised Atari has announced VCS pre-orders will go live on May 30 of this year with a planned shipping window of Spring 2019. Pre-orders will be exclusively available on Indiegogo, and the classic retro 70s-style wood console will be part of a special collector's edition. Here's what Atari said about the early pre-order promos:

Capcom to show off new action adventure game at E3 2018
Capcom should showcase a new action-adventure game at E3, but what could it be? A new IP, or a classic return to form?
E3 is a prime venue to reveal and/or tease new titles and stir up serious hype, and Japanese games-maker Capcom might have something very interesting in store at this year's expo. Right now the E3 website is unearthing lots of little tidbits and pre-show gems to feed speculation--the latest of which surrounds Capcom. According to the site Capcom may show off an action-adventure game for Switch, Xbox One and PC...but oddly enough PS4 is left out.
Sadly there's no other information. Considering PS4 isn't highlighted I'd say the chances of Devil May Cry 5 are slim...but there's always a chance the site's info is incomplete. Capcom will undoubtedly deliver clues on the project during its fiscal year earnings presentation on May 8-9.

Remedy's new P7 game to be unveiled at E3 2018
Remedy's brand new action game codenamed "P7" should be officially announced at E3 2018.
While Remedy Entertainment's "P7" has yet to be formally unveiled we actually know quite a bit about the game itself: it'll be a third-person action game and is meant to be a "long-lasting" experience that strongly hints at live service-powered multiplayer integration. A recent job listing strongly hints P7 should have online service elements, and Remedy even said its proprietary Northlight engine is being optimized for new things such as multiplayer.
To get P7 made and distributed, Remedy has teamed up with publisher 505 games in a multi-year contract for the new IP. The game is being made for all platforms (PS4, Xbox One and PC) and the project should get a name and new details at E3 2018. Since it's due out in 2019 it behooves both Remedy and 505 Games to show something off at the expo in June.

New Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer incoming
Rockstar Games will drop the third trailer for its massively anticipated Western shooter Red Dead Redemption 2 this week.
The latest RDR2 trailer is set to release this Wednesday, May 2 at 11AM EST, Rockstar today announced. In predictable Rockstar fashion the devs didn't release any real new teasers or snippets of info--just the basic "new trailer on X date".
Based on everything we know and have seen so far, Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar's most ambitious game yet and aims to push current generation consoles (4K and otherwise) to their limit. The studio has been crafting this game for years on end and actually built RDR2 from the ground up for PS4 and Xbox One and should eke out the Xbox One X's higher-end console power to boot.

Avengers Infinity War projected to hit new box office record
The newest Marvel movie taking to the big screens is Avengers: Infinity War and the title has now been projected to set a new box office record.
According to the newest weekend forecasts from box office pro, Avengers: Infinity War has already surpassed the highest first-weekend release record. Star Wars: The Force Awakens made $248 million and has been bumped down to second place, Avengers: Infinity War is now taking the top place with an expected total of $250 million by the end of Sunday in US and Canada time.
On a global scale, Avengers: Infinity War is also taking the lead, as the title has already made an estimated $380 million, bringing in a total of $630 million. Universal's The Fate of the Furious previously held the global first place weekend with $541.9 million and that was including the world second largest market for movies, the Chinese market. Avengers: Infinity War is yet to open in the Chinese market so it will be very interesting to see how these numbers increase when it does.

AMD Vega 20 turns up with 32GB of HBM2, will be on 7nm
AMD will be shrinking Vega down later this year from 14nm to 7nm, with the first real tease happening a few days ago when company CEO Lisa Su said they had the 7nm-based Radeon Instinct accelerator in their labs for testing.
This isn't a Radeon RX Vega refresh for gamers, but a professional graphics card with much more HBM2 on-board. The original Radeon Pro SSG and Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics cards both had 16GB of HBM2, but this new 7nm node shrink adds another 16GB of HBM2 for a total of 32GB of HBM2. Impressive.
There are GPU clocks and 3DMark runs but I wouldn't look at much of this without throwing in a grain of salt or 5000. For starters, the HBM2 clocks are at 1250MHz (up from the 1100MHz at maximum overclocks on the RX Vega 64 or 945MHz default HBM2 clocks). This would provide some truly crazy memory bandwidth numbers.

Hitman: Sniper Assassin teased, should hear more at E3 2018
It looks like the new Hitman game has been accidentally teased, with both the Australian and Korean classifications ratings boards teasing Hitman: Sniper Assassin for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
Hitman: Sniper Assassination hasn't been offically announced by developer IO Interactive, and while this could be a genuine error, I doubt it - we should expect Sniper Assassin to be announced soon enough. But, there was mobile variant 'Hitman: Sniper' released in 2015, so this could be a better polished or sequel to that game, or a totally new game... we don't know just yet.
IO did announce that they were "making great progress" on a follow up to Hitman from 2016, so we should expect something soon. Hitman: Definitive Edition is right around the corner as well, with a release on both the Xbox One and PS4 on May 18. E3 2018 is less than a month after that, where I think we'll be officially introduced to Hitman: Sniper Assassin.

DUH: Apple is 'disappointed' with iPhone X sales, so are we
Apple didn't have the best launch with its iPhone X late last year, and now according to sources of the company they are "disappointed" with the sales of iPhone X as it's not competing against other similarly priced flagship smartphones on the market.
FastCompany is now reporting that Apple wants to "burn off" the inventory of iPhone X smartphones with its resellers, and when mixed with the production of iPhone X being cut down to just 8 million units in Q2 2018, things begin making sense. Apple expected to sell 27 million iPhone X handsets in Q1 2018, now expecting to have sold 14 million units.
We should know more about iPhone X sales on May 1, which is when Apple reports its financial results for the March-ending quarter. Analysts will have their eyes glued to numbers, to see if iPhone sales failed, met, or exceeded their expectations.

Apple's purported AR/VR 'T288' headset has dual 8K displays
The rumors of Apple working on their own AR/VR headset have been around for years, but the most exciting rumors of their purported headset have just arrived, teasing dual 8K displays.
CNET is reporting that Apple's purported 'T288' headset rocks dual 8K displays (one 8K display per eye) but unlike Mashable who seem to not know how resolutions and pixels work (they said "Most impressive is the resolution it reportedly packs: an 8K display per eye, for a total resolution of 16K. That would be an insane amount of pixels") it is 'just' 8K per eye (7680 x 4320).
The site reports that Apple's purported headset would "connect to a dedicated box using a high-speed, short-range wireless technology, according to a person familiar with the company's plans. The box, which would be powered by a custom Apple processor more powerful than anything currently available, would act as the brain for the AR/VR headset. In its current state, the box resembles a PC tower, but it won't be an actual Mac computer".

15 more PUBG cheat sellers found, fined over $6 million
We all know that cheating in Battlegrounds is a big deal, with 120 suspects arrested by Chinese authorities earlier this year, and another 15 cheat makers were just arrested with fines totaling $6.24 million.
PUBG Corporation's Ryan Rigney said that the arrests took place in China on April 25, with the developer aiming at people who were "developing and selling hacking/cheating programs that affect PUBG". Rigney continued, saying that some of these cheats that were made had malicious code and were installing backdoors and stealing user information.
Rigney explained: "The longstanding rumor that hacking/cheating programs extract information from users' PCs has been confirmed to be true. Using illegal programs not only disrupts others, but can end up with you handing over your personal information".

Chris Hook joins Intel, will market their first discrete GPU
AMD has lost yet another executive to Intel after bleeding out Radeon Technologies Group boss Raja Koduri, and recently ex-Tesla (and former AMD CPU architect) Jim Keller recently joining the ranks of Intel, with Chris Hook marking the third AMD executive to join Intel in almost as many weeks.
Hook was the former Radeon marketing boss and will be leading marketing for visual technologies and dGFX (think graphics cards) at Intel. Hook will become their first graphics card marketer, where he'll form a strategy for Intel to use to fight AMD and NVIDIA in the graphics card market in the coming years.
Intel is forming quite the ex-AMD dream team for its CPU and GPU divisions, with both Raja and Hook quite the duo in the not-so-long-lived RTG team. AMD has been morphing very silently into a semi-custom company, with a bunch of high level executives exiting the company over the last few months, bleeding talent out into Intel, and other companies.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is optimized for NVIDIA on the PC
We're finally starting to see more concrete details on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, something that is coming very soon and is now being pushed as the latest game to be donned by NVIDIA's technologies.
NVIDIA has announced it partnered up with Square Enix, Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, and Nixxes Software on the PC version of the game. The press release reads: "NVIDIA will lend its gaming and PC development expertise to help bring the PC platform's advanced gaming features to Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This effort will help maximize the performance benefits of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-series GPUs for PC gamers across the world. This continues the collaboration that began in the series' previous title, Rise of the Tomb Raider".
We should expect Shadow of the Tomb Raider to rock the usual GeForce technologies like VXAO, HBAO+ and more. The game itself is expected on September 14 for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

AMD's next-gen Ryzen Threadripper 2950X, 2920X, 2900X teased
AMD will be continuing their onslaught of CPU releases throughout 2018, starting the year out with a bang with the Ryzen 2000 series processors led by the flagship Ryzen 7 2700X.
But now we're hearing about new Ryzen desktop CPUs with the Ryzen 2100, 2300X, and 2500X. These processors will join the Ryzen 2200 and 2400 processors, so we should expect the Ryzen 5 2500X to be a 4C/8T chip for mainstream consumers and gamers.
Moving onto the mobile offerings with Ryzen Mobile 2000U, 2600U, and 2800U. The interesting note here is the Ryzen 7 2800U that is a full Ryzen 7 flagship offering in mobile designs, very cool to see, but will it be very hot under full load? That's what I want to see out of it all.

AMD has 7nm server CPU this year, Intel delays 10nm AGAIN
Intel has delayed its 10nm node yet again, but during AMD's recent Q1 2018 earnings call the company teased that they have not just their 7nm Radeon GPUs being tested in their labs, but upcoming 7nm server CPUs as well.
AMD President and CEO Lisa Su explained: "We have 7nm GPU based on Vega that we'll sample later this year. We have a 7nm server CPU that we'll sample later this year. And then, obviously, we have a number of products that are planned for 2019 as well. So it's a very, very busy product season for us. But we're pleased with the sort of the execution on the product roadmap".
Where we normally see Intel nailing the process node game, AMD is ahead here with what seems to be Globalfoundries' mature 7nm LP node that will power desktop Ryzen 3000 series CPUs in 2019.

Intel 10nm node is 'broken', delayed AGAIN until 2019
Intel has delayed its upcoming 10nm processors yet again, with Cannon Lake stuck back in the firing line with mass production delayed until 2019, instead of late-2018 like Intel promised.
The company promised 10nm back in 2015, but delayed it into 2017 and then again into 2018, so this new delay marks the fourth delay in a row for Chipzilla. Instead, the company has been reworking its seventh-gen 14nm+ node (Kaby Lake R) and their newer 14nm++ (Coffee Lake). We were meant to have eighth-gen parts in 10nm Cannon Lake node, but yeah that won't be happening until 2019 now.
Intel revealed the fourth delay to its 10nm node in their recent earnings report, and while they nailed it with record Q1 revenue of $16.8 billion (up 16% year-over-year), high-volume 10nm production has been delayed until sometime in 2019, with no specifics provided at all.
