Sony's new Z8H TV vibrates the frame of the TV to generate sound
CES 2020 - Sony had quite a lot to show at CES 2020 with its new range of TVs, led by the flagship Z8H 8K LED -- but joined by the A9S 4K OLED, A8H 4K OLED, X950H 4K LED and X900H 4K LED TVs.
What impresses me the most about Sony's new flagship Z8H 8K LED is that not onyl does it have a native 7680 x 4320 (8K) panel, but it has a new Frame Tweeter technology. I know what you're thinking: "Sony, what the hell is Frame Tweeter technology?" and I'm here to report that it freaking vibrates the frame of the TV itself to generated sound... yeah, that's kinda awesome.
Sony adds onto the audio experience of the Z8H (and also the X950H) with its Sound-from-Picture-Reality feature that will provide owners with direction sound that is based on what is happening on-screen at the time. This is pretty kick ass on its own, without talking about the actual visuals and other technology inside of Sony's new TVs.

Lian Li unveils the PC011D Mini, shrinking the award winning PCO11D
CES 2020 - Liajn li and their PCO11 Dynamic has been an enthusiast staple for a couple of years now. The PCO11 Dynamic dare I say has become a benchmark for other manufacturers as far as what users want in a current liquid cooling chassis.
Here we see the PCO11 Dynamic Mini with the backplane for ITX and mATX in place, and this allows for maximum watercooling fitment when using an ITX board - fitting up to 3x 280mm based radiators. Moving to an mATX board and the fitment adjusts to a 280mm and a 240mm or dual 240mm radiators.
Moving to an ATX board and we see the rear now hosts 7x PCIe expansion slots, and now there is far less room in the roof. The fitment for liquid cooling also decreases slightly to fitting only two 240mm radiators as the larger motherboard and components now take up the previously available space.

Lenovo's new ThinkPad X1 Fold: foldable laptop starts at $2499
CES 2020 - Lenovo has unveiled its new ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop at CES 2020, offering up the first's first foldable laptop that has Intel's latest CPU tech inside -- starting at $2499.
Lenovo's new ThinkPad X1 Fold has been in development for over 4 years now, with the company churning out no less than 6 different designs before it landed on the consumer version unveiled at CES 2020. It was co-engineered with Intel, will have 5G connectivity, weighs less than 2.2 pounds, has a Bluetooth Mini Fold keyboard included, and folds flat to a 13.3-inch display.
Lenovo and Intel touted all-day battery life for the ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop, but the starting price of $2499 is going to push most people away on a first-gen foldable laptop. It's great to see Lenovo bending out of the boundaries here with the ThinkPad X1 Fold, but I think it'll be a couple of generations before foldable laptops really are a thing.

Thermaltake goes to the styling extremes with the AH T600 TG chassis
CES 2020 - Thermaltake has once again proven that they will not stick to a single lane in chassis design. Releasing several new chassis at CES 2020, and there was one that caught our eye.
This is the Thermaltake AH T600 TG, and for those who are familiar with the case market, it looks like some recent releases from competitors have inspired Thermaltake. Who knows they may even be from the same OEM with customizations for each manufacturer. Thermaltake Describes the AH T600 TG as "military-inspired" and "air-force style architecture" and with the surround windows on the front, I can see what they are getting at.
The AH T600 TG is a semi open-frame design with motherboard fitment form ITX to ATX. The chassis is flanked by several tempered glass panels, all at 5mm thickness and tinted. You can fit up to two 3.5" drives and three 2.5" drives, and the AH T600 TG does not come with any preinstalled fans.

AMD adds new tier system to its FreeSync display tech
CES 2020 - AMD expanded on its FreeSync display technology at CES 2020, adding a new tier system to the range that sees the introduction of FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro.
The new FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro displays will be two new tiers above the regular FreeSync tier, which will be a new baseline for laptops and desktop monitors. What AMD will be adding with FreeSync Premium is that it will be a minimum 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and low framerate compensation (LFC).
AMD's flagship FreeSync Premium Pro monitors will have the same minimum 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and LFC -- but will add in HDR technology. FreeSync Premium Pro is what AMD used to call FreeSync 2 HDR -- but a new dab of paint has been applied. FreeSync Premium is the new entry here, while AMD is just getting their FreeSync branding into a better firing line starting 2020 off with a bang.

Intel's new Tiger Lake CPUs: 10nm and pack Intel Xe GPU tech
CES 2020 - Intel didn't have too much to show during its CES 2020 keynote compared to AMD, which came out swinging with its 64-core/128-thread Ryzen Threadripper 3990X processor, super-powered Ryzen 4000 series mobile CPUs, and the new mid-range Radeon RX 5600 XT graphics card.
But what Intel did have to show off was a new range of next-gen Tiger Lake CPUs, new chips that will be made on the 10nm node and pack twice the graphics power of the previous-gen offerings from Intel. Intel teased a Tiger Lake-powered thin-and-light gaming laptop playing some games, but weren't detailed in what resolution, or detail level it was playing in.
We do know that Tiger Lake CPUs will have Intel Xe GPU cores -- and while we're talking about Xe, Intel showed off some Destiny 2 gameplay on its DG1 discrete graphics card. It was very brief, and had even less detail than the Tiger Lake show off -- but there we have it. Tiger Lake CPUs teased for later this year, and our first 'demo' of DG1 at CES 2020.

Intel DG1 discrete graphics card teased at CES 2020
CES 2020 - Intel teased its DG1 discrete graphics card at CES 2020, running Destiny 2 during its CES 2020 keynote presentation.
We don't know if it was a real-time demo running at the show, or a pre-recorded clip just yet -- but I'm going with the latter. Intel teased that its DG1 discrete GPU is running, showing off a quick less-than-30-second video of a game running on Intel's new DG1 discrete GPU. Intel showed off the DG1 demo right after talking about its new Tiger Lake architecture, coming later in 2020 on 10nm.
Intel showed off the new DG1 graphics card (I'm guessing in prototype form) running Destiny 2 -- but at an unknown resolution, detail level, or frame rate. Literally nothing to go by at all, just a demo from a mysterious 'DG1'. Did Intel just have another water chiller moment at CES 2020?

LG Signature Series OLED TV R: rollable TV costs $60,000
CES 2020 - LG has teased its rollable TV at CES 2020 once again, but this time they've made it more official with the Signature Series OLED TV R -- a super-thin rollable TV that is like nothing else.
LG also teased another rollable TV model that it is working on back in South Korea, something that can be installed directly into your ceiling. You know, for those times when you're laying down and want to watch the ceiling -- now you won't need to watch paint dry, you can watch a gorgeous 4K stream of your favorite show or movie on a beautiful LG OLED display.
We now know that LG's new Signature Series OLED TV R will sell for $60,000 -- according to David Katzmaier from CNET. LG confirmed that it will ship in the US in Q3 2020.

Sony reveals the PlayStation 5...logo
CES 2020 - Sony didn't reveal the PlayStation 5 at CES 2020 (it was always doubtful they would), but we did get the ultimate tease: The PS5 logo.
Yeah, it's not much. Sony mostly re-iterated info we already know about the PS5, talking up the new haptic controller tech, potent AMD Zen 2 and Navi SoC, the new custom ultra-fast SSD, and some seriously strong hints at total PS4 backward compatibility. But alas we didn't get to see the console, we didn't get a price, we didn't get exact specs. And we didn't get an actual PlayStation 5 reveal date announcement. All we got is a logo. Reports say the PlayStation Meeting is on schedule for February.
Even with the PlayStation 5 on the way, Sony's Jim Ryan discussed how important the PlayStation still is for the company. The console will live alongside the PS5 for years after the next-gen system's release, and the PS4's current software and services ecosystem will carry forward.

Xbox Series X rear ports spied during AMD CES 2020 keynote
Note: This story has been updated.
CES 2020 - AMD came out firing during their CES 2020 keynote unveiling the new Ryzen 4000 series mobile CPUs, competing against Intel desktop CPUs inside of new laptops, the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X with 64C/128T for $3990, and the new Radeon RX 5600 XT.
But it was a very quick shot of a rotating image of the Xbox Series X console that gives me the tingles, with a quick shot of the rear ports on Microsoft's new console. On the back of the current Xbox Series X (I'm saying 'current' because I believe these ports can and will change) we have a slew of ports including 2 x USB Type-C and 2 x HDMI ports.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X: 64C/128T costs $3990 launches February 7
CES 2020 - We knew it was coming, but now it is official -- AMD's new kick ass flagship Zen 2-based Ryzen Threadripper 3990X is real and boy, is it a beast.
The new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X offers up an insane 64 cores and 128 threads of CPU power on the new TRX40 platform, with the 64C/128T chip having a base CPU clock of 2.9GHz, and boost CPU clock of 4.3GHz. AMD says that its new Ryzen Threadripper 3990X processor hits 25,000 points in the Cinebench R20 benchmark.
AMD teased a V-Ray benchmark load of a scene from Terminator: Dark Fate, rendering on the competitors best -- dual Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 processors (combined 56C/112T) in 1 hour 30 minutes... but on the new Ryzen Threadripper 3990X it takes just 1 hour 3 minutes in comparison. Better yet, a $3990 processor versus $20,000 -- a gigantic difference.

AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU: desktop performance for laptops
CES 2020 - AMD has just made its new Ryzen 7 4800H processor official, with the Ryzen 7 4800H being a powerhouse laptop CPU that even kicks the ass of Intel's desktop CPU in the Core i7-9700K.
AMD's new Ryzen 7 4800H processor has desktop-class performance on-the-go, with it coming in as an 8C/16T processor with 2.9GHz base and up to 4.2GHz boost CPU clocks on a 45W TDP. AMD built the new Ryzen 7 4800H processor for the most demanding workloads, and is a gigantic step ahead of its previous mobile designs.
The company compared the new AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor against Intel's own Core i7-9750H processor (6C/12T @ 45W) and the desktop Core i7-9700K (8C/16T @ 95W) where it beat both of these CPUs easily. Hell, the new Ryzen 7 4800H is 13% faster than the desktop-bound Core i7-9700K and that is a hugely impressive thing to see.

Origin PC unveils the M-Class studio desktop, a boutique for creatives
CES 2020 - Origin PC, the boutique system builder recently acquired by Corsair, has made some waves at CES 2020. Today Origin announced their new M-Class studio desktop. The M-Class Studio desktop is targeted at professional class users who need maximum power for tasks such as video, and photo editing, 3D Modeling, and various other creative workflows.
The M-Class Studio desktop is something that is well outside of what we consider "in the wheelhouse" of a custom boutique builder like Origin, until now. With their recent acquisition by Corsair, they got a massive shot in the arm, and likely some wiggle room to expand their offerings beyond extreme gaming-focused rigs and into the professional application realm.
One of the key features enabling productivity-focused builds from Origin is NVIDIA's new "Studio drivers," which are tuned and optimized for professional workload performance. These drivers have been tested and shown to accelerate professional workflows by a significant margin for professional users while still retaining the gaming performance users have come to know.

Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT keyboard comes with Stream Deck software
CES 2020 - Corsair just announced its new premium K95 RGB Platinum XT designed specifically with streamers in mind.
Corsair's new K95 RGB Platinum XT keyboard (our review here) is an interesting synergy between high-end gaming and streaming peripherals, representing the latest evolution of Corsair's multi-faceted brand. The K95 RGB Platinum XT sports all the major features you'd expect from a $200 enthusiast-grade mechanical keyboard--performance Cherry MX switches, highly customizable macros with special textured keys, full key (NKRO) with 100% anti-ghosting, and even a nice splash of RGB thrown in.
This time Corsair injected Stream Deck software right into the keyboard. Gamers, content creators, and streamers can essentially turn their K95 Platinum XT into a Stream Deck and launch custom commands and programs via the keyboard's six macro buttons. I'd love to have seen an extra row of macros for this purpose, but it's still a nifty addition. Corsair's iCUE lighting software is also baked right in, giving users direct control over RGB profiles.

New Switch entering mass production in 2020
Nintendo is preparing to mass-produce a new Switch model as soon as Q1 2020, sources tell DigiTimes.
The next-gen Switch reports are heating up again. Sources close to manufacturing supply chains tell DigiTimes that a new Switch model is on the way, and that facilities are prepping for wide scale production for the new device. This aligns with what sources told The Wall Street Journal earlier in 2019. But is it a slight revision or a the rumored Switch Pro with 4K support?
Nintendo already revised the Switch twice in 2019. First the base Switch console hybrid was refreshed on NVIDIA's new 16nm Tegra X1, raising battery life but keeping specs exactly the same. Then the Switch Lite released with handheld-only functionality, delivering similar performance on the 16nm Tegra.

Big O combines PC, PS4, or Xbox in one box, on sale now
CES 2020 - Origin PC's crazy console-PC hybrid build is now on sale, packing in a PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One along with PC gaming components.
The Big O is built on one simple premise: Converging PC and console gaming hardware in one box. Consumers can actually buy the Big O right now, but it's a watered down version of the insane every-console-in-a-PC-box build shown off in July.
The current Big O offers either a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, not both, and neither the Nintendo Switch or Xbox One X are available. Both consoles are liquid-cooled though, and the consoles can be used independently of the PC. They have separate power connections and HDMI outputs which is a nifty plus.
