Elon Musk net worth reaches $100 billion, just half of Jeff Bezos
2020 has been a massive year for Elon Musk, with significant achievements happening in both Tesla and SpaceX.
Now, according to a Bloomberg report, Elon Musk's net worth has now risen above $100 billion, which just happens to be the exact same day Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos reached the $200 billion mark. In just 2020, Tesla stock has seen a rise of 400%, which has caused Musk's personal wealth to exceed by $73 billion this year.
Most of the Musk's wealth has come from the increasing price of Tesla stock, which isn't really that surprising when you look at the numbers. As of June this year, Musk owned 40.4 million Tesla shares, which equates to $87 billion of his net worth. Comparatively, at the beginning of 2020, Musk owned about 38.7 million shares, worth $16.2 billion. If you are after any more information regarding this topic, check out his link here.

Hollywood directors call on the public to not see 'Tenet' in theaters
As cinemas across the country begin to reopen slowly, Hollywood directors are publicly telling Americans not to attend theaters to see Tenet.
If you didn't know, Tenet is Christopher Nolan's, the director behind Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Interstellar, newest movie to be released. Now, Hollywood directors are telling the public not to attend cinemas for safety reasons regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has taken to his personal Twitter to say, "Don't go see Tenet or any other movie in a theater. There, I said it."
Additionally, Joe and Anthony Russo, who are the directors for Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, recently stated in an interview that going to a movie theater with the current state of the pandemic is far too risky. Joe Russo said, "I think everyone has a different threshold for risk, it seems, in the country right now. I think that really depends what your threshold for risk is, but certainly being in an enclosed space is a high-risk situation."

Tilt 5 making 'steady progress' on holographic table top game system
Tilt 5 is making significant progress towards bringing its holographic tabletop gaming system to life. The company, which got its funding through a Kickstarting campaign last September, is a little bit behind schedule, but the project is well underway and nearing completion.
When Tilt 5 launched its crowdfunding campaign last year, no one could have predicted that the world would fall apart in the coming months. Still, Tilt 5 has done a remarkable job at keeping the ship's bow pointed in the right direction. In the most recent progress update, Tilt 5 indicated that it has begun shipping the beta kits that were meant to ship in July. The components for the backer unit are in production and soon heading to the manufacturer for final assembly.
The production for Tilt 5 is slightly behind schedule because the small group of beta testers uncovered an assembly problem that needed to be addressed. The Tilt 5 headsets feature two tiny projectors, which comprise 35 components, including lenses and mechanical parts, which must be glued to hold together. In some of the beta test units, the glue that holds the projector assembly failed. Tilt 5 said the problem is already being addressed, and the company is thankful that the beta testers discovered the problem before full-scale production began.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay footage from PS5 is mind blowing
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to the PlayStation 5 and it could be one of the best launch titles for Sony's next-gen console, especially after you check out some new gameplay captured directly from the PS5:
The new footage is from the Gamescom Opening Night Live, where we get a juicy 7-minute video of next-gen Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the PS5. The game sees developer Insomniac Games using the ultra-fast NVMe-based SSD inside of the PS5 that lets players "seamlessly warp around levels and even into other dimensions".
In the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay footage, we get our first look at some of the new weapons that Insomniac has planned for us with the Shatterbomb, Topiary Sprinkler, and the Enforcer. Overall I loved the trailer, there is a helluva lot of stuff going on at once with all those particle effects -- and while there's motion blur, it's not a Crysis 2 or 3 level mess.

D-Link's super fast EXO AX5400 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 router available now
D-Link just released the top model of a trio of Wi-Fi 6 routers, which are poised to take on the modern smart-connected home's needs. The top-of-the-line EXO AX5400 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 router (DIR-X5460) should be able to handle the network traffic of even the most device-heavy households.
"The future of Wi-Fi is here. With the current influx of digital demands as households increasingly work and learn online, many require a new premium router to handle the network strain," said Raman Bridwell, vice president, products and services at D-Link Systems. "Our new DIR-X5460 Wi-Fi 6 Router is poised to overcome frustrating lag and buffer, replacing it with high-grade network efficiencies to meet simultaneous bandwidth-heavy activities like 4K/8K streaming or online classwork."

Palit ready to unleash 171 (!!!) different GeForce RTX 30 series cards
Palit has just registered 171 different products through the Eurasian Economic Commission, so while we might not see the company deploy 171 different cards -- it means that the company is preparing a lot of new cards.
We will see Palit deploy particular SKUs in different countries, so we might see 10 different GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 graphics cards in a certain country, but different SKUs in another country. The list teases NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, GeForce RTX 3070, and GeForce RTX 3060.
VideoCardz notes that this is the first time we've seen the GeForce RTX 3060 mentioned, which could be an exciting card priced at $399.

ASUS teases next-gen ROG keyboard, reveals on same day as new GeForce
ASUS is teasing something very new with its Twitter account in the UK asking "Who's ready to switch up their gaming?!" while using #ROG and #METABUFFS.
The URL takes you to the METABUFFS website, with a contain to September 1 -- the same day NVIDIA will be unveiling its next-gen Ampere-based GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards. As for what to expect, with the "switch" up their gaming comment -- and a picture of a switch for a keyboard, I'd dare say a new keyboard.
If you look close enough, you can see ASUS has added a ROG eye logo onto the keyswitch itself -- which is a nice touch. We'll update you once the keyboard is announced.

MSI's new PSUs are ready for next-gen GeForce RTX 30 series cards
MSI has just announced its new MPG GF Series PSUs, which come in three models: 650W, 750W, and 850W. Each of them can all support the very latest NVIDIA graphics cards -- including the upcoming Ampere-based GeForce RTX 30 series cards.
This marks MSI's entrance into the power supply business, and what a time -- right as NVIDIA's about to launch its GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070 graphics cards at its September 1 event.
As you can see in the above photo, MSI will be bundling in a 12-pin Micro-Fit 3.0 power adapter that will work with GeForce RTX 30 series Founders Editions cards -- which will be exclusively using the 12-pin PCIe power connector.

Elon Musk on Neuralink BCI demo: will show 'Matrix in the Matrix' tech
Neuralink will be showing off their brain-computer interface (BCI) technology on August 28, with the Elon Musk-backed company teasing some rather big -- and cryptic, things.
Musk tweeted out on July 31 that the upcoming Neuralink BCI demonstration would be showing the world "neurons firing in real-time on August 28". He finished off the tweet with "the matrix in the matrix", which is a gigantic tease on its own.
The limitation of communicating, using, or accessing technology has always been the input -- typing, or speaking into a smartphone, laptop, console, or TV. Our brains and our input methods are slow, but computers can transfer over a trillion bits of data per second -- humans are too slow.

Facebook Horizon will have a closed beta and it's starting soon
Facebook is gearing up for the first all-digital Facebook Connect (formerly Oculus Connect) conference on September 16, but it seems the company can't wait until mid-September to let people know what it has been up to for recently.
Today, Facebook Reality Labs revealed that it would soon be doing an invite-only early access beta test for its much-teased Facebook Horizons virtual social platform.
We first saw Facebook Horizon at OC6 last September. Since then, Facebook has been quietly testing the upcoming VR social platform with a select group and collecting names of people who wish to participate. Soon, Facebook will start pulling names out of its hat to join an invite-only beta of Horizon to iron out the wrinkles before releasing it to the masses.

Global Bitcoin mining consumes 7 nuclear power plants worth of power
How much power does the global bitcoin mining systems of the world consume? A freaking lot. According to new studies, bitcoin-related power consumption has hit new highs in 2020.
Bitcoin-related power consumption chews over 7 gigawatts of power, with a new study from the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance saying that the global bitcoin mining industry uses 7.64 GW of power -- equivalent to around 63.32 terawatt-hours of energy consumption.
With power costs of around $0.03 to $0.05 per kWh in 2020, March estimations had around $4000 in profits with the March 2020 price of bitcoin at around $7500. That's not bad, but you need the super-low power prices and enough ASICs to do it.

Bitcoin mining facility in Kazakhstan uses enough power for 180K homes
A new cryptocurrency mining facility is about to have the lights turned on, and crypto mining insanity begin -- with mining facility operator Enegix teasing its huge new 180-megawatt (MW) data center for mining pools opening in September 2020.
The new mining facility has been built in Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan -- close to the Russian border. Enegix sales director Dmitriy Ivanov said that the facility can host up to 50,000 mining rigs -- where if packed at full capacity with Bitmain AntMiner S19 series or MicroBT WhatsMiner M30 -- it would have around 4% of Bitcoin's current hashrate at a huge 5-6 EH/s.
Enegix's new facility will hire over 160 people, ranging between engineers, electricians, and security. It's not the first in Enegix's history, as it has 2 mining facilities already, but the new one in Ekibastuz is its largest so far.

Dragon Age 4's next-gen combat teased, likely exclusive to PS5, XSX
BioWare celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special Dragon Age 4 tease at Gamescom 2020's Opening Night Live Ceremony.
Dragon Age 4 is still a long ways away. BioWare confirmed the game is only in early production phases right now, but teased a bunch of concept art and early gameplay/combat animation footage at Gamescom, all of which showed next-generation visuals. BioWare confirms Dragon Age 4 is being built from the ground up to target next-gen tech, so the game will likely be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
"Since 2014, we've been looking at ways to use next-generation technology to bring the world and characters of Dragon Age to life," said BioWare general manager Casey Hudson.

Black Ops Cold War on PC is developed by four studios
Activision promises Black Ops Cold War will be fully optimized for PC on Battle.net, but Treyarch and Raven aren't developing the PC version.
The latest Black Ops Cold War press release revealed an interesting tidbit: The PC flavor is being developed by a quadraplex of studios including Beenox, Sledgehammer Games, High Moon Studios and Activision Shanghai.
Beenox, who has extended experience working on Call of Duty ports, is handling principal development of the PC version and the other studios, including the once-mighty Sledgehammer, are offering a helping hand. This somewhat contrasts with previous reports that indicated Sledgehammer, Treyarch, and Raven would all be working together on the same version of the game.

Bungie vet's return to Halo: Infinite speaks volumes on troubled dev
Halo lore master Joseph Staten has returned to the franchise to lead Halo: Infinite's campaign, 343 Industries today announced.
There's good news for Halo fans: Joe Staten is back and is now guiding what appears to be a deceptively-rocky boat. This move seems to speak volumes about the current state of Halo: Infinite's development, and reflects a larger part of Microsoft's game dev business practices. While coronavirus was a major factor for disruption, it's unclear it was the only thing that affected development.
"I'm thrilled to join Halo to help them ship Halo Infinite. As the project lead for the Infinite Campaign, I will be supporting the team's existing, great leaders and empowering them to do their best work," Staten said on Twitter.

Secretlab SoftWeave BLACK3 gaming chair packs high-performance fabric
I've been a big fan of Secretlab's unique SoftWeave fabric since its debut in 2018, but now the company has just unveiled its latest SoftWeave BLACK3 -- a "reimaginging of the popular Triple Black colorway".
Secretlab explains that there are a number of fans that work for the company itself that love the Triple Black colorway sneakers -- so they went ahead to create something similar with their new SoftWeave BLACK3 by incorporating the tri-color weave with three different, and unique shades of black.
The result is something that looks really slick, but I would love to see it in person with my own eyes -- my review sample is on the way. Secretlab is infusing the worlds of gaming and streetwear with the new SoftWeave BLACK3 -- and I'm really digging it. I can see this chair being super comfortable, while also rocking its own unique look.

Activision-Blizzard's net revenues for Q2 were $1.932 billion, the best second quarter earnings in the last 10 years.

Gamescom 2020 is almost upon us, and to get that hype train rolling ahead of the opening night, Bethesda has released a teaser for the coming DOOM Eternal DLC.

Now, Gamescom 2020 is only around the corner, and what better way to kick things off than with a full reveal of what impossible challenge Doomguy is going to overcome next.
As a reminder to everyone, Gamescom showrunner Geoff Keighley took to his Twitter to post a time for the reveal, which is "#OpeningNightLive at 8 pm CEST / 2 pm ET / 11 am PT". More recently, the official DOOM Twitter page just posted their own reminder that the DLC would be arriving "tomorrow".
