Walmart game streaming service, Project Storm, outed by Epic trial
Documents from the ongoing Epic vs Apple trial confirm Walmart's plans to make a cloud-powered game streaming service.
Walmart plans to follow Amazon into the game streaming market. Walmart's own game streaming service, codenamed Project Storm, was outlined in a recent exhibit in the Epic vs Apple antitrust court case. The document is publicly available on a district court data repository.
Walmart's plan is ambitious. The pitch says Project Storm would allow gamers to stream or download titles directly to their platform of choice. The company wants to stream games to any device, and the presentation shows GTA V beaming directly to TVs, PC,s tablets, phones, and even Apple Watches.

CD Projekt vice president of game design leaves because of 'bad blood'
After 17 years with CD Projekt RED, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has left the studio to avoid further "bad blood."
A while back, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz was accused of aggressive behavior by other developers at CD Projekt. Tomaszkiewicz was high on CD Projekt's totem pole having served as game director on Witcher 3 and its two expansions, then moving to design director on Cyberpunk 2077. In February 2019, Tomaszkiewicz was promoted to vice president of game development at the company.
The developer was said to have used his position to "mob", or intimidate/bully other workers. Although CD Projekt's investigations ultimately saw him as innocent, Tomaszkiewicz has stepped down from the studio. He was expected to lead the charge on CD Projekt's next Witcher game which is should begin development as early as 2022.

Asteroid that traveled 23 million years to get to Earth discovered
Back in 2018, astronomers watched an asteroid approaching Earth, and only a few hours later, they tracked the landing to Botswana.
The asteroid named 2018 LA began to break up as it entered Earth's atmosphere at 38,000 miles per hour. A group of researchers managed to find 23 fragments of the asteroid in Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and according to the study from the group, the asteroid fragments actually came from the brightest and second-largest asteroid in our solar system named Vesta.
The team of researchers also found that the space rock had been traveling for nearly 23 million years after it somehow broke off Vesta. After analysis of the fragments, researchers determined based on the metal content that the asteroid is classed as a Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite (HED) meteorite, which likely came from the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. Additionally, the authors noted that nearly one-third of all HED meteorites that are found on Earth came from Vesta nearly 23 million years ago. Scientists have successfully created the first human-monkey embryo
A new study has been published in the journal Cell, and it regards researchers being able to develop the first human-monkey embryo in just 20 days.
Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte led the research and hopes from his results that he can eventually transfer his knowledge generated with human and monkey embryo's into curing diseases. Belmonte took twenty-five reprogramed human cells and introduced them to 132 monkey embryo's. Over time, many of these monkey embryo's became non-viable, and by day 19, there was only three embryo's left. The results of Belmonte's work prove that human cells can communicate successfully with different species.
Time states, once Belmonte "identifies the signals and processes that human cells use to differentiate into different tissues and organs, he can recreate that environment in pig embryos, and ultimately regenerate human tissues such as skin grafts for burn patients and heart, lung or liver tissue to replace damaged and diseased cells." One of the problems Belmonte faces when doing work such as this is the ethical questions that come with combining human cells with another species, which could be viewed as essentially "playing god".

Super blood moon and four planets visible in May, here's how to see it
NASA has put out a video detailing what you can see if you happen to look out at the night sky at the right time during May.
According to NASA, onlookers of the night sky will be able to spot the three rocky planets in our solar system; Mars, Venus, and Mercury. If you wanted to make sure you saw these three rocky planets, you want to pencil in May 14 on your calendar, as that will be the best opportunity for you to see them. NASA goes on to say that if you want to see the most of the three planets, you will need to have a clear view of the western horizon. NASA recommends places such as the beach, lakes, or open plains.
Additionally, you also have the opportunity to spot a total lunar eclipse. On May 26, the moon will pass through Earth's shadow, which will cause it to darken significantly and turn into a red hue. The redness of the moon is caused by the sunlight filtering through Earth's atmosphere. Due to the moon commonly being appearing in a red color, onlookers often describe it as a "blood moon". On top of that, the blood moon that will happen on May 26 will also be a "supermoon", which is when the moon's orbit brings it closest to Earth.

Thousands of carnivorous worms are invading a South Carolina coast
An invasion of thousands of carnivorous worms is happening off the coast in South Carolina, but should you be worried?
According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, no, you shouldn't be worried. In fact, the invasion of these worms is actually a good thing. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said to USA Today, "A massive swarm of marine worms may not be ideal visitors near the water, but it's a good sign for local fish and birds that want an all-you-can-eat buffet for local fish and birds."
So, why are the worms surfacing in these such great numbers? The clam worms are usually found on the bottom of the seafloor, but "undergo an incredible transformation under new and full moons in spring - their bodies morph into reproductive forms called 'epitokes' as they swarm in coastal waters." If a clam worm if provoked, it will begin snapping with its ant-like jaw. However, they don't try and eat humans. For more information on this story, check out this link here.

Nearly 1,000 pounds of pork products recalled by New York company
A New York company has announced the recall of nearly 1,000 pounds of its pork products, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The company is Hempstead Foodservice, and according to the announcement, it will be recalling 972 pounds of pork chop products as it was found that the products may contain hydrolyzed soy protein. Products were developed between April 6 and April 30 and distributed to various grocery stores and restaurants throughout New York.
The product containing this allergen didn't clearly state it on the branding, which could lead to health complications if an allergic individual consumed it. The FSIS is concerned that the product could be in retailers' refrigerators, saying, "Retailers who have obtained these products are urged not to sell them. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them." FSIS recommends that if you own this product to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Bill Gates-funded company released 150K genetically modified insects
A Bill and Melinda Gates-funded biotech firm has released thousands of genetically modified mosquitoes in the United States.
The biotech firm Oxitec has confirmed in a press release that the release of these genetically modified mosquitoes is for population control of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that spread diseases such as dengue and malaria. All of the genetically released mosquitoes are male, and have a self-limiting gene that causes offspring to die before they can reach adulthood and reproduce again.
Oxitec has already begun testing this type of technology in Brazil, where it saw a 95% drop in the Aedes aegypti species after just 13 weeks. Oxitec announced a collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation back in 2018, check out the press release here. In a recent press release, the company emphasized that the genetically modified mosquitoes it was releasing are unable to bite. For more information on this story, check out this link here.

China's rocket is crashing back down to Earth, but where will it land?
China is building its own space station, and last week, it launched the first module, the living quarters for future astronauts.
The module was carried up to space on the back of China's Long March-5B rocket, and while the launch was deemed a success, the rocket is now in out-of-control orbit. The rocket weighs in at 21-tonnes, and according to SpaceNews, the rocket is expected to crash back down to Earth in the next coming days/weeks. At the moment, the rocket is traveling at 16,000 mph and is making one full rotation of Earth in just 90 minutes.
SpaceNews said, "It will be one of the largest instances of uncontrolled reentry of a spacecraft and could potentially land on an inhabited area". So, where will it land? Unfortunately, due to the multitude of possibilities, such as atmospheric drag, and solar activity influence, researchers are struggling to pinpoint the exact location of where it will crash land. SpaceNews said, "The high speed of the rocket body means it orbits the Earth roughly every 90 minutes and so a change of just a few minutes in reentry time results in reentry point thousands of kilometers away".

Manager owes $500K to black disabled man he enslaved for forced labor
A Black man who has intellectual disabilities was forced to work unpaid by a former South Carolina restaurant manager.
The former restaurant manager is 56-year-old Bobby Paul Edwards, and in 2019 Edwards was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he plead guilty against forced labor chargers. Edwards enslaved 43-year-old John Christopher Smith, who was forced to work 100 hour weeks, at zero pay, with no days off, for 5 years. Now, Edwards is being forced to pay Smith an entitled total of $546,000 as a rightful compensation.
Court documents state that Smith began his full-time employment in 1990 at the age of 12 under the ownership of Edwards' relatives. In 2009 Edwards took over the operation and allegedly moved Smith into an apartment described as "sub-human," "deplorable" and "harmful to human health", according to Smith's lawyer.

Samsung makes 120Hz OLED displays for iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
Apple is ramping up into its next-gen iPhone 13 family of smartphones while Samsung is building out its new range of Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones, with Apple setting its sights on 120Hz OLED displays for its two higher-end iPhone 13 handsets.
Samsung is reportedly supplying Apple with around 110 million OLED displays for both its current-gen iPhone 12, and next-gen iPhone 13 lineups. LG Display and BOE will supply a small number of OLED displays to Apple for its iPhones, but it will be Samsung that will exclusively provide Apple with 120Hz OLED LTPO panels for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max smartphones.
Apple will be using multiple Samsung-made parts in its new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, with the direct competitor of the company supplying rigid flexible printed circuit boards (RFPCB) with the regular iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini using multiplex FPCB. RFPCB has benefits in that it can be both rigid, and folded -- paving the way for that foldable iPhone coming in 2023.

Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 3 tipped to have under-display camera
Samsung's next-gen Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones will reportedly be launching in July 2021, but new rumors now suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will sport an under-display camera.
If the rumors are true then this would be the first Samsung product to have a flashy new under-display camera, with the leaks coming from some very low-quality images shared online. The promotional images from Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable smartphone have it teasing internally as the "first foldable with Under Display Camera".
Not only that, but the internal Samsung marketing material for the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone having S-Pen support with the tip not being as fine as previous iterations so that it will not scratch that super-precious foldable display that Samsung will have on the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti: announce on May 31, reviews on June 9
Can you believe we're barely a month out from NVIDIA revealing new graphics cards already? Computex 2021 is right around the corner -- if you can believe that we're nearly half way through the year already -- meaning it's new hardware time (again).
The last that we heard, NVIDIA had pulled the reveal of its GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card up to May 18, from a May 25 announcement, but now VideoCardz says it can confirm NVIDIA is planning to announce the new GPU on May 31 alongside the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
NVIDIA is reportedly setting product review NDAs separately for the two cards, with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti review NDA lifting on June 2 while the higher-end GeForce RTX 3080 Ti review NDA lifts on June 9. As for when the new GPUs will be released... well we don't know that exactly, but it shouldn't be long after the reviews -- will you be able to find one, that's an entirely different question altogether.

Remember the Disaster Girl meme? Disaster Girl NFT sells for $500,000
I think that even if you were living under a rock you'd have to have known about the "Disaster Girl" meme purely with a 1-second look, with the super-popular internet meme selling for over $500,000 in NFT form.
The NFT (non-fungible token) version of Disaster Girl recently sold for 180 Ethereum, which at the time was worth $500,000 and at the time of writing was worth just over $550,000. The original photo of "Disaster Girl" saw then-four-year-old Zoe Roth standing in front of her father's camera in front of a burning house.
The house wasn't exactly burning normally, as firefighters had intentionally set fire to the house and then let the kids play around with the fire hose and pumping water into the house on fire. The picture set the internet on fire, pun intended, and became an instant meme of the ages. Even the NFT caption explains it perfectly: "Discovered by internet connoisseurs it rapidly spread to every corner of the world, becoming one of the most recognizable images of the 21st century".

NVIDIA DLSS tech helps GeForce RTX 3090 drive 8K 60FPS in COD: Warzone
Call of Duty: Warzone was recently updated and included with it NVIDIA's magic DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology which provides a gigantic injection of performance for GeForce RTX gamers. COD: Warzone actually hits 8K 60FPS on the GeForce RTX 3090 with DLSS on Ultra Performance mode.
The new Warzone update with DLSS enabled and turned onto "Performance Mode" sees the GeForce RTX 3090 going from 100FPS average at 4K to a huge 151FPS average... around 50% free performance turning DLSS on. But what about 8K? That's where the fun really begins, and something I just personally did a few days ago on my Dell UP3218K monitor, the Core i9-10900K processor and MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X graphics card.
Call of Duty: Warzone at 8K simply requires the GeForce RTX 3090, it's unplayable at anything less than 60FPS or so at 7680 x 4320 as its driving those 33 million pixels in front of your eyeballs and melting your graphics card in the process.
