Intel Arc Alchemist pricing: 'premium' GPU could cost $800 or so

Anthony Garreffa | Graphics Cards | Oct 24, 2021 8:51 PM CDT

Intel is still at least 6 months away from releasing its Xe-based Arc Alchemist graphics card, but with no idea on pricing, we have to go by their competitors' hyper-inflated alternate-reality GPU pricing that we are having to, unfortunately, get used to.

Intel Arc Alchemist pricing: 'premium' GPU could cost $800 or so

Anyway, Intel's new Arc Alchemist GPU pricing was teased during the Xe-HPG Scavenger Hunt, where prizes in the scavenger hunt include 2 x graphics cards based on the "Premium" and "Performance" tiers of Intel's new Arc graphics cards. These cards are priced with an estimated value of $800 and $600, which gives us an idea of MSRP pricing for at least 2 of Intel's upcoming Arc GPUs.

Intel's new flagship Arc Alchemist GPU is expected to pack 512 Execution Units and 4096 Shading Units, joined by 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory bus and GPU clocks of around 2.2GHz to 2.5GHz and a 225-250W TDP. We should see the premium Intel GPU it's eluding to here in the Xe-HPG Scavenger Hunt to be the Intel Arc a170, while the Performance tier GPU would be the Arc a150.

Shiba Inu crypto price plummets 27% after Elon Musk says he holds none

Anthony Garreffa | Cryptocurrency & Mining | Oct 24, 2021 7:43 PM CDT

The price of Dogecoin cryptocurrency competitor Shiba Inu has only skyrocketed for the last couple of weeks, but now Elon Musk pulled the price of Shiba Inu down by 27% with a single tweet.

Shiba Inu crypto price plummets 27% after Elon Musk says he holds none

Musk was asked by @ShibaInuHodler on Twitter if he had any Shiba Inu himself, to which Musk simply tweeted back "none" and the price of Shiba Inu started to drop. $shib dropped from $0.000004484 to around $0.00003823 at the time of writing -- but the price of Shiba Inu dipped right down into $0.00003472 after Musk's tweet.

I mean sure, Shiba Inu has dropped post-tweet from Musk but the crypto is up a freaking insane amount over the last few weeks, months, and year. Shiba Inu is still at beyond all-time-high price, after skyrocketing from $0.000006905 in May 2021 to $0.00003823 at the time of writing -- a 35,000,000% increase.

Intel Core i9-12900HK mobile CPU performance: see ya, Apple, AMD

Anthony Garreffa | Processors | Oct 24, 2021 6:33 PM CDT

Intel might have everyone excited about its next-gen Alder Lake CPUs on the desktop, but the mobile Alder Lake CPUs are going to be very interesting as well -- especially in a world joined by Apple's enthusiast-class M1 Max SoC that was just announced.

Intel Core i9-12900HK mobile CPU performance: see ya, Apple, AMD

We now have some new numbers on Intel's new Alder Lake mobile CPU from our friends at Wccftech, where it smashes Apple's new M1 Max SoC, its own Core i9-11980HK mobile processor, and the Zen 3-based Ryzen 9 5980HX processor in Geekbench.

But with the first-ever benchmarks of Intel Alder Lake Mobility CPUs, at least in the Core i9-12900HK processor, thanks to Wccftech we can see even Apple's new M1 Max SoC is a force to be reckoned with. The M1 Max beats the Core i9-11980HK and Ryzen 9 5980HX processors, but the new Core i9-12800HK is on top (and so it should be). Apple will win on power efficiency, however.

Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games is making a Wolverine game for PS5 aimed at emotional impact. Based on who's involved with story, it looks like the devs will deliver in spades. Spec Ops: The Line writer Walt Williams is not only working on the project, but he's leading the Wolverine game's story arc.

The yesteryear war shooter was known for its mind-bending narrative that made gamers question the ethics of their actions throughout the campaign, presenting scenes that didn't glorify war but exposed a more real and destructive side to it.

Payday 3: Crypto robbery, set in New York with original heisters

Overkill confirms new details about Payday 3 including the return of the original crew.

Payday 3: Crypto robbery, set in New York with original heisters

The Payday franchise just celebrated its 10th anniversary and Overkill spent some time looking ahead as it looked back over all those years. According to the developers, Payday 3, which is due out in 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, will have all four original heisters: Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf are returning.

The game takes place a few years after Payday 2 where the crew has retired. The world has moved on to digital-based currencies including crypto and there's a lot more to robbing than carefully-planned bank heists and gunning your way through SWAT teams. Now things are more subtle and heists will change a bit...however Overkill hasn't really detailed any specifics.

Halo 3 modder bypasses AI limit with 100 dynamically spawned enemies

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Oct 24, 2021 1:33 PM CDT

Halo modder RejectedShotgun is one step closer to huge global battles in Halo 3.

Halo 3 modder bypasses AI limit with 100 dynamically spawned enemies

Halo 3 originally had a global battle feature that emphasized crazy wide-scale combat. That feature was cut (likely due to console hardware memory constraints) and Halo 3's AI limit was capped at 40 enemies on the screen at once. This attests to Bungie's creativity with those crazy open-ended battle sequences.

That limit is still in place, but modder RejectedShotgun has found a way to bypass it with a script that dynamically loads enemy AI in and out of sequences as needed. So far over 100 enemy AI can be loaded in and out in this wary. The result creates an illusion of bigger battles especially when you're roaming through areas on vehicles.

New Halo 3 mod creates The Ark campaign map with never-ending battles

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Oct 24, 2021 12:37 PM CDT

Old-school Halo modder RejectedShotgun is doing some crazy things with Halo 3's new modding tools.

New Halo 3 mod creates The Ark campaign map with never-ending battles

We're seeing some amazing creations with Halo 3's new modding tools. Creators like RejectedShotgun are taking mods to new heights by creating heavy battle sequences with tons of enemies, vehicles, and even towering scarabs on the screen. It's like those big explosive missions that you know and love from Halo 3's campaign.

The end goal with the AI War project is to recreate the insanity of Halo 3's campaign mission The Ark via a concept called Global Battles, which is apparently something Bungie wanted to put in the game but cut due to hardware constraints. The mod is out now on NexusMods and you can mess about with it.

NASA announces date for when it begins its journey back to the Moon

Jak Connor | Science, Space, & Robotics | Oct 23, 2021 3:45 AM CDT

Yesterday, NASA officially announced when it will begin the first mission of its Artemis lunar program that aims to take humans back to the Moon as early as 2024.

NASA announces date for when it begins its journey back to the Moon

On October 20, engineers successfully stacked the crew capsule on top of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket that is slated to be the means of transportation to the Moon. The first step on getting humans back on the Moon is Artemis 1 - an uncrewed mission that will test the Orion spacecraft, the SLS rocket and ground systems at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Artemis 1 will send the Orion spacecraft 280,000 miles from Earth - farther than any human spacecraft has ever flown before.

Throughout its journey, the NASA spacecraft will separate from the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) about two hours after launch and begin deploying small satellites over several days called CubeSats, which will be used to perform several experiments and technology demonstrations. On its way to the Moon, engineers on the ground will be testing all of Orion's systems to make sure everything is operational for when humans embark.

Nanoracks, along with partnering companies, has announced the launch date window for its first-ever free-flying commercial space station named Starlab.

'First-ever free flying commercial space station' locks in launch date

Starlab is set to become the world's first free-flying commercial space station, which means that it won't be locked into one orbit position, separating itself from the likes of the International Space Station. The new space station will feature a 12,000 cubic feet habitat module that will have the capacity to house four astronauts. Additionally, Starlab will feature a laboratory to conduct research, a large external robotic arm for servicing payloads and cargo, as well as a payload capacity of 776 cubic feet - similar to the ISS.

Jeffrey Manber, CEO, and Co-Founder of Nanoracks, said in the press release, "Since the beginning, Nanoracks has sought to own and operate a private space station to fully unlock market demand. Our team has spent the last decade learning the business of space stations, understanding customer needs, charting market growth, and self-investing in private hardware on the ISS like the Bishop Airlock. Nanoracks and our team are excited to work with NASA and our friends across the world as we move forward with Starlab."

NASA has released a new video that details the launch of its highly-anticipated James Webb Space Telescope - the telescope that is said to replace the Hubble Space Telescope.

Here's why you should be terrified for NASA's newest space telescope

NASA and many contractors have been working on the JWST for many years and have experienced numerous delays attributed to technology challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic, and many other issues. But now, the space agency is nearing the end of the road for the telescope as it gears up for launch.

In the new video posted to the JWST YouTube channel, Webb's Mission Lead System's Engineer, Mike Menzel, explains that Webb has "300 single-point failure items, and they all have to work right. When you're a million miles from the Earth, you can't send someone to fix it".

Apple TV+ sitcom goes gold, Mythic Quest renewed for Season 3 and 4

Anthony Garreffa | TV, Movies & Home Theatre | Oct 22, 2021 10:51 PM CDT

If you haven't watched Mythic Quest and love comedies, you really should -- it is an Apple TV+ series that is based in the gaming industry, with a fictional game developer and their triumphs and struggles -- and now it has been renewed for two more seasons.

Apple TV+ sitcom goes gold, Mythic Quest renewed for Season 3 and 4

Mythic Quest S2 aired this year, with the third season now dropping in 2022 and the fourth season most likely dropping in 2023 at this rate. The announcement of Mythic Quest being renewed for two more seasons on Apple TV+ was fantastic in its own way -- co-creator Rob McElhenney (who also plays Ian Grimm on the show) announced the news with Jason Sudeikis (from the also-fantastic Ted Lasso, also on Apple TV) and even Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins was featured for narrating the "Everlight" episode of Mythic Quest.

As for the show itself, Ubisoft is a big part of Mythic Quest as a co-producer on the Apple TV+ series. This gives the show one of the best feels of "this sounds real" in the game development and tech worlds, versus a bunch of jargon that was pulled down from Wikipedia and YouTube.

If you purchased Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC) a week ago... hell, just a couple of days ago, you'd be laughing all the way to the bank right now.

Digital World Acquisition Corp stock skyrockets 1000%+ thanks to Trump

President Donald J. Trump announced his new social media company, TRUTH Social, in the last 24 hours or so, and was announced that Trump Media & Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp. have entered into a definitive merger agreement that makes TMTG into a publicly listed company, subject to regulatory and stockholder approval.
