Intel's new flagship Alder Lake CPU has been spotted in the flesh, with the new Core i9-12900K receiving some juicy new pictures and last details.

The new Intel Core i9-12900K and Core i5-12600K are now confirmed SKUs versus the engineering and qualification samples that we've been seeing in recent leaks, while we also now know the maximum boost frequency of these two new Alder Lake processors.

Intel's new Core i9-12900K will have its Performance "Golden Cove" CPU cores with a base CPU clock of 3.6GHz and Turbo Max Boost 3.0 clock of 5.0GHz, while the Efficient "Gracemont" CPU cores will have a base CPU clock of 2.7GHz and Turbo Max Boost 3.0 frequency of 3.8GHz. This is all for 125W TDP, too. Remember, Thermal Velocity Boost frequencies will be at least 100MHz or so higher than this, and should be detailed soon.

Forza Horizon 5 is right around the corner, with Microsoft and developer Playground Games revealing the download size for the game.

We're looking at 103GB of storage required on both the Windows and Steam versions of the game on the PC, with the next-gen Xbox Series X/S consoles both also needing 103GB free storage for Forza Horizon 5. The previous-gen Xbox One version of the game is actually larger, requiring 116GB of storage.

You can now pre-load Forza Horizon 5 on the Microsoft Store, while if you've pre-ordered the game on Steam you'll have to wait a little while longer. The developer explains: "With the high-speed internal SSD storage found on Xbox Series X|S consoles, we've reduced the install footprint of Forza Horizon 5 on those systems by optimizing our assets for higher bandwidth streaming. That means a shorter download combined with super-fast loading times so you can seamlessly jump into the action as soon as you say 'Let's Go!'"

President Donald Trump has announced that he is launching a new social media network, which will be a direct competitor to Facebook -- at least we can call it Facebook for now, which has stepped in multiple big piles of sh*t over the last few months (years) and will be rebranded next week -- and Twitter: TRUTH Social.

TRUTH Social will be competing with whatever Facebook rebrands itself in emergency meetings next week, with President Trump announcing Trump Media & Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp. have entered into a definitive merger agreement that makes TMTG into a publicly listed company, subject to regulatory and stockholder approval.

The new social network "TRUTH Social" will be rolling out nationwide in Q1 2022, with President Donald J. Trump, Chairman of TMTG explaining: "I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon".

NVIDIA has just introduced a new GeForce NOW cloud gaming membership tier, which joins the Free and Priority memberships as the new RTX 3080 membership.

The new RTX 3080 membership unlocks up to 1440p resolution and 120FPS refresh rate on the PC and Mac, and even up to 4K HDR at 60FPS through the SHIELD TV. You will of course need a 120Hz-capable display to enjoy the 120FPS fed to you over the cloud, but if you've got it... NVIDIA can now give it to you: up to 1440p 120FPS on GeForce NOW.

NVIDIA is using GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards to power the new streaming service, with each GeForce NOW SuperPOD packing over 1000 x GPUs that have 39 petaflops of performance. For those who sign up for the new GeForce NOW RTX 3080 membership, each of the RTX 3080 cloud gaming PCs are powered by an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO CPU, 28GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and PCIe 4.0 SSDs.

AMD and Microsoft revealed their collaborative limited edition graphics card, with the introduction of the awesomely-styled Radeon RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Limited Edition graphics card.

But now Razer has announced they have a legendary giveaway during their Razer Con 2021 event, with their partners in Xbox, AMD, and Halo giving away 10 of the new AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Edition graphics cards. There are only 117 of the cards being made, so Razer having 10 of them to give away is actually a big deal.

DJI has just unveiled its new cinema camera that has a built-in gimbal, shoots up to 8K 75FPS video, packs a LIDAR-based rangefinder that, even in low light, promises a "sharper, faster, and more reliable focusing experience".

DJI's new Ronin 4D drone is using the Zenmuse X9 camera, a full-frame with interchangeable lens mounts for DJI's own DL and Leica's M systems, with 9 built-in ND filters. There's the 6K version of the DJI Ronin 4D drone which shoots up to 6K 60FPS and 4K 120FPS, while the 8K model will shoot 8K 75FPS which is kinda insane.

That explains why DJI is pushing the "cinema camera" side of things if it can shoot 8K 75FPS video, with the Zenmuse X9 camera also shooting in RAW or 422HQ in ProRes, or H.264 if you wanted smaller files. DJI usually makes its cameras specifically for their drones, but the new Zenmuse X9 camera was made specially for the new Ronin 4D drone. This means you can't buy the spiffy new Zenmuse X9 camera and put it on your DJI drone, as it's exclusive to the Ronin 4D.

The new AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Limited Edition graphics card was an engineering partnership between AMD and Microsoft, with Microsoft working with AMD to get performance optimizations for older, right through to ultra-high-end systems.

Microsoft is bringing new fan-requested features to the Xbox Series X, including a 4K UHD resolution dashboard UI and more.

Ever-focused on continually evolving and adding to the Xbox ecosystem, Microsoft rolled out a new update for the Xbox Series X that makes some big changes to onscreen visuals. We're not talking about gaming, but the UI used for navigation, which is now rendered in native 3840 x 2160p. The old UI used to be 1080p upscaled to 4K, which resulted in lots of jaggies and fuzzy edges--a minor gripe considering major advantages like Quick Resume and cloud saves, but hey.

There's also a new night mode that softens the on-screen light and even reduces the light from the controller (a big deal because Xbox controllers run on batteries) and the console's button, which is a nice touch for anyone playing at night. There's even a blue light filter to help gamers with sensitive eyes...pretty important when your games service is keeping people glued to their TVs for hours on end.

NVIDIA is expected to unleash the new performance champion GPU in Q1 2022, with the introduction of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER graphics card... with some new rumors to join the pile.

According to the very latest rumors from Tom @ Moore's Law is Dead: "most of my best sources: yeah, it exists right now (the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, or GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER) but I can't believe they're going to launch this". But now Tom has another source that has confirmed the existence of the new GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

This new source has revealed that NVIDIA is indeed planning to launch a new GeForce GPU with 450W of power at the ready in Q1 2022. Tom says that OEMs are preparing the new GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER as a "direct competitor" to AMD's highly-binned Navi 21 XTXH-based Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled Edition graphics cards.

Doom Eternal's anticipated horde mode is coming October 26 in Update 6.66, id Software today announced.

Horde mode was something that I always wanted in Doom Eternal. Every since I started messing around with cheats I kept trying to figure out a way to get enemies to spawn in certain locations--I wanted to take on three or four marauders at once and just see how insane the battles could get. Wide-scale demon wars that are so demanding that they crash the game. Stuff like that.

Thankfully the official horde mode is coming out soon. It looks to be a survival-fest that gets harder over time, where you face off against waves of demon monstrosities in a scored and ranked playlist. It's an arcade game from hell--the best kind of arcade game. Update 6.66 will also include Battlemode's 2.0 revamp, two new master levels, and Bethesda says "there's certainly a surprise or two in there."

Remember in 2020 when everyone said raytracing could fix Halo Infinite's bad graphics? That's actually happening. 343i just confirmed Infinite will support raytracing thanks to AMD.

Halo Infinite will support AMD's raytracing solution on PC and possibly Xbox Series X/S consoles. The developers today revealed a host of high-end performance features that will be available on PC at launch and says it is working with AMD, its official partner, to scale and optimize the game across the entire spectrum of hardware from Jaguar SoCs in the Xbox One to the 7nm+ Zen 2 SoCs in the Series X and blistering-fast new desktop CPUs and GPUs.

"We're looking forward to working closely with AMD to bring raytracing to Halo Infinite. Raytracing is one our top development priorities post-launch and look forward to sharing more soon," 343 Industries wrote in the update.

Microsoft and Seagate are introduce two new SSD expansion cards to boost Xbox Series X/S storage: A cheaper 512GB option, and a hefty 2TB version that's more expensive than an Xbox Series S.

Seagate is introducing two new Xbox Series X/S SSDs to help fill out the price spectrum: a 512GB SSD for $139 that will be available mid-November, and a 2TB SSD for an eye-watering $399 that's coming in December, which is more than the Xbox Series S' MSRP of $299. Each drive has the same performance of an internal Xbox Series X/S SSD.

Varjo announced the Aero headset, a cheaper version of its enterprise-focused VR hardware that doesn't carry an annual licensing fee. The hardware is not really meant for consumers, but you can buy one if you have the money.

Varjo makes some of the most advanced VR headsets available on the market. Its claim to fame is its proprietary bionic display, which incorporates a micro OLED display embedded inside a larger mini LED display panel. Varjo's flagship headset, the $5000 XR-3, includes dual Lidar cameras for lifelike passthrough AR experiences. The Varjo Aero is much cheaper because it doesn't have either of those technologies, but it's still an impressive piece of tech.

The American Meteor Society (AMS) has received more than 80 reports about a fireball sighting in the night sky over some US states.

According to the American Meteor Society, the sighting has been confirmed that a fireball was spotted in the night sky by people as far south as Tennessee and as far north as Michigan. The AMS confirmed the sighting to be around 12:43 a.m EDT but didn't know what the object was. It was later discovered that the fireball was the failed Russian spy satellite named Kosmos-2551.

Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer and satellite tracker that is based at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said via Twitter that the "The fireball network confirms that the event seen in Michigan was at 0443 UTC (1243EDT) which is the exact predicted time Kosmos-2551 passed over the region, and within the re-entry time uncertainty window given by Space Force." Adding, "So I conclude that the ID with Kosmos-2551 is solid."

A new video has appeared on NASA's official YouTube channel that is essentially a trailer showcasing the space agency's next-generation spacesuits.

Through the video, NASA has announced that it will partner with the private space industry to construct brand new next-generation spacesuits that will be used for future astronauts in a plethora of missions. According to the video's description, the spacesuits will be "personalized" and will come with revolutionary upgrades in the forms of technology upgrades, better fits for astronauts, a larger range of sizes, better protection against the harsh environment of space.

Additionally, these spacesuits will enable the astronauts better mobility, allowing them to be "more nimble than ever before". The space agency says that these spacesuits will be used by astronauts aboard the International Space Station, future Artemis missions that will take humans back to the surface of the Moon, and will, most importantly, prepare NASA for "humanity's next giant leap - sending astronauts to Mars."

A study published in the journal Nature Geoscience has detailed the largest underwater eruption to ever occur gave birth to a skyscraper-sized volcano.

The study was published in Nature Geoscience back in late August, and details a "new" volcano that was discovered off the in the western Indian Ocean, off Madagascar. The underwater volcano emerged from the seafloor following a series of earthquakes that were detected in the region. The study looked at data from a 2014 underwater survey of the region and compared it to a 2019 survey and found that between those two dates, a volcano rose to a height of 8,465 feet below sea level.

The researchers collected geological data and found that this volcano draws magma from the deepest reservoirs ever recorded by scientists - about 34 miles underground. Nathalie Feuillet, a marine geoscientist at the Paris Institute of Earth Physics (IPGP), University of Paris, and lead author on the study, said, "The source of the magma, the reservoir, is very deep. This is the first time in volcanology that we can see such a deep reservoir at the base of the lithosphere."

Last month Sony posted a video to its official YouTube channel that may have slipped under the radar when looking at its number of views.

The above video was posted on September 3 and showcased the finished product of collaborative work between Sony designers and science fiction writers. The goal of the collaboration was to come up with ideas of what life, working, senses and well-being would be like in Tokyo in 2050. The team's joint effort came up with a series of design prototypes, and one of them was the Floating Habitat that predicts humans will be living on the ocean in floating houses.

As stated in the above video, these floating habitats located in a bay are paired with solar panels located in the water. These solar panels generate electricity for the habitats and store them in autonomous energy tanks that detect when one is running low on power. They then connect to the habitat to replenish its supply. Additionally, multiple of these floating homes can be connected together to form a large structure that Sony says will reduce the impact of large waves.

Reports indicate that an asteroid has made a relatively close approach to Earth, passing between our planet and the Moon.

According to Space.com, an asteroid named 2021 TG14 that has a diameter between 17.7 - 39.3 feet passed between the Earth and the Moon on Sunday, October 17. According to NASA's asteroid database, the space rock passed at a distance of 155,000 miles, and while that seems like quite a distance here on Earth, when talking in space terms, that is quite close to our small blue planet. For reference, the Moon is around 239,000 miles from Earth.

For those that don't know, an asteroid is an ancient piece of the early solar system when our cosmic neighborhood was just a collection of rock, ice, and debris before planets formed. For these reasons, astronomers see asteroids as valuable prospects for scientific research as they can contain information about the solar system's past and thus provide insightful information about its future. A swarm of earthquakes has impacted a volcano in the United States. Officials have recorded 33 earthquakes in just 24 hours.

The US Geological Survey's (USGS) Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO) has detected a new swarm of earthquakes impacting Oregon's Mount Hood volcano. According to officials, Mount Hood is classified as a "very high threat potential". However, the earthquakes it recently experienced are not abnormal and have not caused a change in the volcano alert level nor the aviation color code. The USGS wrote, "Several tens of small earthquakes have occurred near the summit of Mount Hood. This is not a volcanic event."

The USGS continued in its statement and said that the earthquakes began on October 17 and that the largest was an M2.5 at a depth of 1.8 - 3.1 miles below the surface. Additionally, none of the earthquakes were felt, and that swarms of earthquakes hitting the volcano are deemed "common" and "do not indicate a change in the volcanic hazard. AccuWeather has reported that a "beast of a bomb cyclone" is on its way towards the United States and that it may rival some of the hurricanes that have been seen throughout the Atlantic Ocean.

According to the report from AccuWeather, the monstrous cyclone storm will usher in dangerous amounts of rainfall up and down the West Coast of the United States. The report states that satellite imagery has shown that moisture has been transported all the way from India and other parts of southeast Asia across the northern Pacific and is now headed towards the West Coast of the US. AccuWeather Meteorologist Randy Adkins says that Tropical Storm Namtheun will combine with the non-tropical system in the Pacific on Wednesday.

Officials from the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center have warned that the incoming storm will bring "heavy rain totals, worrisome for burn scars, and high elevation mountain snow". Adding, "The heaviest precipitation looks to come in two waves, one Thursday and another Sunday into Monday." Forecasters recommend keeping up to date on the movements of the storm if you are in the affected areas as with most storms, things can change quite rapidly.
