After an iPhone was previously fitted with a USB-C port, it is the second Android and iPhone Frankenstein project.

Engineer Ken Pillonel undertook both that project and this latest project. Pillonel spoke with Engagdet to say that the project was technically challenging, as his goal was to enable data transfer through the Lightning port, not to have only power delivery for charging.

Another hurdle for the project is that Lightning cables sold by Apple check to ensure the device they're connected to is another Apple device before charging. Therefore, Pillonel had to make the cable register that it was connected to an Apple device instead of his Android phone.

Intel has now unleashed its new Arc Alchemist GPUs where we'll see it hitting laptops over the next few months in lower-end form, while the higher-end SKUs of the Arc GPUs will hit laptops later in the year... and now XMG is teasing its new X-Project desktop replacement laptop.

Schenker is using its gaming brand in XMG to announce its new X-Series desktop replacement gaming laptop, as well as more designs with a tease for what's coming in 2022. The company is teasing two projects with Intel Arc Graphics, with the first being a sleek 15-inch laptop based on the new Intel reference design, while the other packs a "larger, entirely new chassis in the high-performance segment".

XMG explains: "As you can see in the XMG timeline, we are working on two projects with Intel Arc Graphics. One of them will be sleek 15" model based on a new Intel reference design (a collaboration with Intel, similar to 2019's XMG FUSION 15), the other one is planned to be a larger, entirely new chassis in the high-performance segment. Further details will be revealed in the upcoming months".

A study on the genome sequencing titled "Complete genomic and epigenetic maps of human centromeres" has been published in the journal Science.

In 2003 the human genome was claimed to have been fully sequenced by scientists, but until recently, roughly eight percent of the genome had yet to be completely sequenced. The remaining DNA to sequence was mostly repetitive and difficult to align with the rest of the genome. A new complete genome has now been assembled by the Telomere-to-Telomere (T2T) consortium, dubbed T2T-CHM13, and succeeds the previous reference genome known as GRCh38.

A new study on the moon titled "Downward Oxidant Transport Through Europa's Ice Shell by Density-Driven Brine Percolation" has been published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.

Europa is one of Jupiter's many moons and has a frozen surface with an ocean hidden just beneath. A new study indicates this ocean may be warm, salt-filled, and capable of fostering life. The research indicates the potential for oxygen to be pulled down into the subsurface ocean from the surface, where organisms could use it to sustain life.

Europa already has more than enough water for one of the essential ingredients to fuel life as we know it, having more water on it than Earth has in all of its oceans. Various chemical nutrients are also available, and tidal flexing from Jupiter provides the energy necessary to heat the moon's interior and prevent the subsurface ocean from freezing.

The Kremlin has reportedly decided to pull Russian forces out of the Chernobyl region, likely due to radiation threats.

According to the Ukrainian state agency, which manages the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Russian soldiers are being transported by bus to the Belarusian Radiation Medicine Center in Gomel. The soldiers are being taken from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone after becoming "irradiated," according to Yaroslav Yemelianenko, the CEO of Chornobyl Tour.

Canada has plans to ban the sales of new combustion engine vehicles by 2035 as part of its Emissions Reduction Plan.

As a nation, Canada plans to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, which led to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's announcement of a ban on sales of new combustion engine vehicles. The announcement he made in June 2021 mandates that all passenger car models contribute zero emissions by 2035.

The Canadian government has now published its Emissions Reduction Plan, which details how the nation will reach net-zero emissions. It shows Canada wants zero-emission vehicles to make up 20 percent of new vehicle sales by 2026, increasing to 60 percent by 2030.

The plane is powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which is typically derived from cooking oil or other waste fats.

An Airbus A380 jet dubbed MSN 1 made a three-hour flight beginning at Blagnac Airport in Toulouse, France, on March 25th. The plane is powered by a Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine fueled with 100% SAF. On March 29th, a second test take-off and landing was executed, marking the third Airbus aircraft to use 100% SAF in the last year.

Previously, Airbus flew its A350 aircraft in March 2021 using SAF and its A319neo single-aisle aircraft in October 2021. The A380 flown this March used 27 tons of unblended SAF sourced from the petroleum firm TotalEnergies, which comprised cooking oil and waste fats.

The head of the United Kingdom's spy agency has said that Putin is being misled about the Ukraine war and misjudged the situation.

According to the director for Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), Sir Jeremy Fleming, who spoke at the Australian National University in Canberra on Thursday, Russia's President Vladimir Putin has "massively misjudged the situation" in invading Ukraine and has underestimated the resistance that his army met. Additionally, Fleming said that Putin overestimated his abilities and didn't expect the economic consequences of his actions to be so severe.

The head of Britain's intelligence agency said that the agency has reports of Russian soldiers who are short of weapons, morale, and even rebelling against commanders by refusing to carry out orders which have led to them sabotaging their own equipment. Furthermore, Fleming said Russian troops have "even accidentally shooting down their own aircraft."

It was only recently that Ukrainian troops hit the jackpot by capturing a "potent Russian EW system", and now Ukrainian forces have hit another major jackpot.

According to the UAWeapons Twitter account that is dedicated to posting constant updates on weapons, Ukrainian troops have captured a 9S935 MANPADS gunner's target cuing set, which is a part of a "Barnaul-T" command and control system that is used to conduct electronic warfare.

As Russia seemingly pull back from Ukraine's capital of Kyiv, they are leaving behind military equipment, as only recently, Ukrainian forces captured a Russian Barnaul-T command post that is now being used by Ukrainian troops in their defense. The Barnaul-T system has been in operation for more than 10 years and can be linked with surface-to-air missile systems to provide well-timed target designations.

Sotheby's expects it will get anywhere between $330,000 and $551,000 for a receipt that transfers ownership of an imaginary art piece.

The 1959 receipt comes from French artist Yves Klein who conceived the idea of allowing lovers of art to own "zones of immaterial pictorial sensibility" or "zones de sensibilite picturale immaterielle", as translated in French. Sotheby's explains on its website that on April 28, 1958, "The Void" art exhibition was held at the Irs Clert Gallery in Paris, which had all of its contents removed for the opening. The French artist said that despite the gallery being empty, it was "saturated with 'pictorial sensibility in its pure state.'"

Sotheby's explained, "A few months later, the finalization of the receipts and the ritual accompanying the 'transfer' made it possible to inscribe this 'sensibility' in the field of visual arts for good, and for each collector to become the definitive owner of a 'zone of immaterial pictorial sensibility." Sotheby's compared the receipt concept and NFTs/blockchain technology, saying that Klein's receipt could be viewed as a precursor to the emergence of a new multi-billion-dollar market.

The emerging Web 3 space has been prone to hackers, with multiple cryptocurrency blockchains having millions of dollars stolen from them in just the first three months of 2022.

A new report from Atlas VPN reveals that hackers have stolen nearly $700 million in cryptocurrency assets from crypto blockchains such as the Binance Smart Chain, Solana blockchain, and Ethereum. More specifically, the stolen funds were accrued over 72 attacks within the first three months of the year. Furthermore, the Solana network had nearly $400 million stolen over four hacks, with Binance's network having $100 million stolen over 12 hacks.

In a recent meeting of international relations, Russia has indicated who it wishes to partner with to create a "democratic world order".

The sentiments come from a recent meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Russia's top diplomat recently landed in China, and throughout his meetings with China's Wang Yi, he described that Russia and China are moving towards creating a new "democratic world order". Notably, Lavrov said that the planet was "living through a very serious stage in the history of international relations."

The sentiments from Russia's top diplomat were echoed by Wang Yi, with him saying, "China-Russia relations have withstood the new test of the changing international situation, maintained the correct direction of progress and shown tenacious development momentum." Adding that China and Russia will maintain working together in "advancing global multipolarity and the democratization of international relations."

An overly active sunspot erupted, causing two powerful coronal mass ejections to be launched towards Earth at high speeds.

Earlier in the week, officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) warned that astronomers observed at least 17 solar eruptions over two days from the single sunspot called AR2975. Following the eruptions came two coronal mass ejections that merged into a "cannibal coronal mass ejection" that collided with Earth's magnetic field during the night on March 30 through to April 1.

The collision of the charged particles from the sun into Earth's magnetic field at 1,881,263 mph produced a G3 geomagnetic storm that resulted in an increased chance of auroras such as the northern/southern lights appearing. It should be noted that this particular CME impact is harmless to humans on the surface due to Earth's protective atmosphere, but larger blasts can cause problems for satellites, low-frequency radio navigation, and electricity grids.

Earlier in the week, officials reported observing at least 17 solar eruptions over the span of two days. Following the solar eruptions came a "cannibal coronal mass ejection (CME)."

A CME is a wave of charged particles that are can be released from the Sun when a solar flare occurs. In the recent instance, two CMEs were released following the multitude of solar eruptions, and these CMEs were headed straight for Earth. Officials described the second CME to be "cannibal" as it overtook the first and combined into one large wave of charged particles.

NVIDIA has only just launched its new flagship GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, with MSI unleashing its new GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X -- my review on the MSI RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X here -- and now MSI has announced its new 3dfx Voodoo5 7000 series GPU.

The new MSI Voodoo5 7000 series GPU is an "Extreme 2D/3D accelerator" that packs a huge 48GB of GDDR7 memory, something that Samsung only teased late last year. GDDR7 memory will reportedly arrive at a blistering 32Gbps bandwidth, which is up from the already ultra-fast 21Gbps on the latest GDDR6X memory on the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

MSI's new Voodoo5 7000 series GPU with 48GB of GDDR7 memory underneath still rocks an old-school DVI connector, so that you can run 8K 120FPS on Ultra details with reverse 2dfx technology -- MSI and 3dfx's take on AI upscaling... turning 3D graphics to 2D graphics. Moore Threads announced the new GPUs today, on the same day as Intel detailing its new Arc A-Series Mobile GPUs that are rolling out into laptops over the coming months. The new MTT S60 and MTS2000 desktop GPUs from Moore Threads are made on the 12nm process node, using the MUSA (MT Unified System Architecture).

MUSA is the first GPU architecture out of China, and get this -- MUSA supports the DirectX Runtime -- something that's missing from every other Chinese GPU. MUSA not only supports DirectX, but also OpenCL, OpenGL, Vulkan -- and even NVIDIA's CUDA.

MSI has just announced its new, fully all-AMD desktop gaming PC with the introduction of its new MAG META 5 5E system.

Inside MSI's new MAG META 5 5E you'll find the AMD Ryzen 7 5800 processor, joined by the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card. You can configure the system with up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, while on the storage side of things you've got 1 x M.2 SSD, 2 x 2.5-inch and 2 x 3.5-inch SSDs and HDDs.

As for cooling you can configure the MAG META 5 5E system with either an air-cooled or liquid cooler, with air being drawn into the system from the side, rear, and top of the case. Intel announced its new Arc Alchemist Mobile GPUs today, with a duo of Arc GPUs now called the ACM-G10 and ACM-G11... with some more details on the ACM-G10 GPU now here.

The new Intel ACM-G10 GPU used to be called the DG2-512EU, with the chip rocking 21.7 billion transistors and measures in at 406mm2 in size. This means Intel's new ACM-G10 is larger not just NVIDIA's mid-range GA104 GPU but also AMD's new mid-range Navi 22 GPU.

NVIDIA's mid-range GA102 GPU has 17.4 billion transistors and 392mm2 die size, while AMD's mid-range Navi 22 GPU has 17.2 billion transistors and a size size of 336mm2. Intel is using the TSMC 6N process node for its new Arc GPUs, while AMD taps TSMC N7 and NVIDIA with Samsung 8N.

I still remember walking out of the cinema after watching The Matrix back in 1999, influencing me forever as a 16-year-old geek and gamer. It has been 23 years since then -- if you can believe it -- so let's celebrate by watching the trailer to the movie:

The Matrix pioneered so much at the time with its iconic "Bullet-Time" slow-mo designed by John Gaeta, was copied, used in parodies, and everything in between. Bullet-Time was also joined by the amazing cinematography, soundtrack, acting (especially Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith), the storyline, the action, and so much more.

If you didn't know, The Matrix was shot here in Australia (in Sydney) with the Wachowski Bros. making the New South Wales government change their laws so that they could fly a helicopter above the city of Sydney. Incredible stuff, but totally worth it. It would be all-CG these days, including the crappy Matrix Resurrections.
