A new technology is being trialed by police departments in the United States with a Spider-Man-style device that shoots out a tether, which fires out fast and entangles and restrains the suspect -- all without harm.

Tasers killed 49 people in 2018 so it makes sense to use a harmless method to subdue people, with the new 'BolaWrap' portable device firing an 8-foot (2.4m) bola-style tether that entangles a suspect at the waist, or around the legs.

Wrap Industries is behind the BolaWrap with company president Tom Smith explaining: "Whether it is a Taser, pepper spray, baton ... there's been this gap created by the courts requiring that a higher level of force be used at the appropriate time. This tool fits perfectly into that gap giving the officers another option to use before having to use that high level of force to end that conversation very early, very safely".

Huawei has unveiled its new Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro smartphones with some special sauce camera technology: it can shoot slow-motion video at a I-had-to-triple-check-this-info 7680FPS.

The new camera will have to drop the resolution down to 1280 x 720 to shoot at 7680FPS... but that is still absolutely insane. Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Season 3 of Apex Legends will kick off on October 1, with its latest hero Crypto joining the fray.

The developer celebrated the S3 announcement of Apex Legends with a new animated character short titled 'Forever Family'. Respawn is already preparing the world of Apex Legends for the arrival of Crypto, with the details on Crypto's backstory and already teasing his arrival into the game.

Season 3 of Apex Legends begins on October 1 and will not just include Crypto but a new charge rifle weapon, tweaked ranked mode, and over 100 new in-game items to collect.

The new 4-episode series is called Un-filtered and will be on Instagram's own IGTV channel, on both its mobile app and the internet. The new unscripted TV series will see Hill interview people aged between 13-25 about bullying, both online and in real-life.

Hill said in a statement: "It was an incredible experience to direct this project. I tried to create an environment for young people to be heard and listened to. I wish there was a platform to hear other's struggles and experiences when I was growing up. I hope that this will be inspiring for young people to share their stories and feelings and not feel so alone".

Most people are expecting Sony to launch one console, the new PlayStation 5 -- but according to the latest rumors we might see a base PS5 console joined by a higher-end PS5 console that could be called PlayStation 5 Pro, or something else entirely.

Japanese journalist Zenji Nishikawa reports that Sony will launch a base PlayStation 5 joined by a higher-end PlayStation 5 Pro model, instead of launching a base console following up with the Pro variant like it did with the PlayStation 4, and then PlayStation 4 Pro.

There's nothing quite like Cuphead. With hand-drawn animations straight out of a golden age cartoon, it's probably the most visually-striking indie on the market. Microsoft is a service-first company. With a ton of subscriptions, monetization hooks, and engagement services, Xbox is now a service-first business and game sales are essentially ancillary to these recurring revenues sources. Every quarter we tackle Microsoft's Xbox earnings metrics, and soon it'll get more difficult to chart growth or loss. Right now Microsoft only reports two gaming metrics in its investor report slides: Xbox LIVE monthly active users and Xbox Gaming revenue. Soon even this will change.

Microsoft is notorious for withholding key data from consumers, investors, and analysts. For example, it stopped reporting total Xbox hardware sales a while back. Now it's going to lump in its billion-dollar services and subscriptions like Xbox LIVE, Xbox Game Pass, and soon Project xCloud with game and hardware sales. This also includes microtransactions. The new label is Xbox Content & Services Revenue Growth and will replace the current recorded revenue metrics.

Sony's new State of Play showcase should highlight progress made on first-party games, but there won't be any news on the next-gen PlayStation 5. So what can we expect? New The Last of Us Part II info is guaranteed (possibly with its rumored February 2020 release date), and we'll likely get updates on Ghosts of Tsushima and maybe even some Death Stranding content. The show will last a brisk 20 minutes but it should 100% be focused on games without any filler.

French courts order Valve to allow game reselling on Steam, and order various terms of service agreements to be amended.

A new court order could change Steam's digital business forever, turning the one-sided marketplace into a free trade platform. A ruling from the District Court of Paris says Valve should allow resale of digital, dematerialized goods on its platform. The courts ruled in favor of UFC-Que Choisir, France's federal consumer-oriented force, who's been taking aim at Valve's storefront policies as far back as 2015.

The ruling states that Valve "can no longer oppose the resale of this copy (or copy) even if the initial purchase is made by downloading," a move that could upend Valve's storefront. Predictably, Valve currently prohibits the sale of games, and there's really no tangible way to do this besides selling an entire account tied to specific games. This is a violation of Steam's terms of service.

Epic's free game selection is kicking it up this month with the entire Batman Arkham collection and Metro 2033.

When it comes to consumers, Epic has three major advantages over Steam: It gives out free games every month, Fortnite's massive numbers, and timed exclusives. The Epic Games Store has been dishing out indies and older titles for months since launch, but now it's starting to belt out some big goodies. In September, gamers can grab six Batman games including the Arkham trilogy and three LEGO games alongside Metro 2033.

Epic's gimmick is simple. The company wants to pull as many people over to the storefront as possible, and freebies are a great way to do that. HBO Max will soon feature 55 episodes of the hit animated TV series 'The Boondocks', while also announces that two more new seasons will also come to air.

'The Boondocks' was created by Aaron McGruder who based the animated TV show off his comic book series. McGruder will also return to the animated series as the head showrunner, he spoken out about the opportunity to bring life back into the TV show. "There's a unique opportunity to revisit the world of The Boondocks and do it over again for today."

He continued and said "It's crazy how different the times we live in are now - both politically and culturally - more than a decade past the original series and two decades past the original newspaper comic. The Gateway Foundation is a company who has designed and plans to build a space hotel that comes fully equipped with artificial gravity, luxurious suites, restaurants, gyms and everything else that 5 star hotels come with. The outer space hotel is titled 'Von Braun' station and is said that it will comfortably house up to 450 people.

The image above is the current design of the hotel, and as you can see the space hotel will be a massive ring. The design choice of a ring is so that it can rotate in space which would then cause gravity to be felt by passengers closer to the outer rim. Tim Alatorre, senior design architect for the company spoke to CNN Travel and said "We're going to have a number of different recreation activities and games that'll highlight the fact that you're able to do things that you can't do on Earth."

Big rockets with big boosters mean that big precautions need to be taken. That's why NASA has equipped their new space launch pad with the ability to spray 1 million gallons of water within just one minute.

The new launch pad is for the upcoming Artemis 1 mission and has been titled Pad 39B. Since NASA are planning their Moon landing mission and want to ensure as much safety for the crew aboard the shuttle, the space agency has recently tested their dousing power in-case of an emergency. The test which just lasted a mere 30 seconds showcased that the pad can spray 450,000 gallons of water onto the parts of the launch pad that would experience the most heat/noise.

Nic Moss, Deputy Project Manager for the launchpad said that when the SLS rocket takes off it will be extremely loud, which is where the water comes in. "SLS will create about 176 decibels at liftoff, which is significantly louder than a jetliner", "the sheets of water created by the flow will curb that sound by knocking it down a few decibels."

The weird quantum world has puzzled researchers for quite some time now, but a team out of the Stevens Institute of Technology could be on the brink of getting a much better handle on it.

The team of researchers led by Yuping Huang, who is an associate professor of physics and director of the Center of Quantum Science and Engineering has brought the human race closer to unlocking quantum computing. The team has done this through implementing a nano-scale chip that facilitates quantum interactions with photons. This new method has been reported to work at very low energy levels which has suggested that it could be optimized for use in room-temperature quantum computing and secure quantum communication.

Huang's team fired a laser beam into a race-track-shaped microcavity carved into a sliver of crystal. As the light bounced around the confined race-track the photons interacted with each other, but uncontrollably. What changed everything was when the team introduced a chip made from lithium niobate on insulator, which is a material that interacts with light uniquely. The team then applied high voltage to the race-track and the chip and was able to tailor the way the photons moved around it.
