Ghost Recon Breakpoint's time-saving microtransactions removed for now
Ubisoft removes Ghost Recon Breakpoint's time-saving microtransactions from the in-game store, but they'll be back.
The new Ghost Recon game lets players pay money to boost skills, upgrade weapons, grab crafting materials, and unlock blueprints faster via time-saver microtransactions. The monetization got a lot of heat from critics, but gamers say the progression isn't too bad and there's really no reason to buy into mTX. But interestingly enough, the time-saving purchases have been yanked from the storefront for balance reasons.
It turns out Ubisoft didn't mean to switch them on just yet. Ultimate edition owners who got first crack at the game technically had an unfair advantage because they could not only play the game sooner, but pay money to unlock more quick goodies.

Geno teed up for next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter, leak
We are back yet again with another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter leak, its time to put your speculation hats on and take the information below with a grain of scepticism.
Above we have an overview video of the leak from Super Smash Bros. legend ZeRo, so you want the full breakdown in video form be sure to watch that. Moving on, this leak comes from WeaverSerawl who also called that the Grinch leak was fake and that Banjo-Kazooie would arrive in the fighters pass.
With that being said, Weaver says that Geno will be the 5th character in the Fighters Pass (after Terry Bogard) and will arrive with two songs. According to Weaver, these songs will be playable on both Mario and Geno's stages. As for post-Fighters Pass content, Weaver says that players will receive characters that "won't turn as many heads" due to the budget for development not being as big as the first Fighters Pass.

It's official: Superman is faster than the Flash
One of the largest fights between comic book fans and in particular, Superman and Flash fans... is who is faster in a race? Now we know -- Superman.
Kal-El and The Flash race in Superman: Up in the Sky #4 (which is on sale now) with DC officially tackling the question of who is faster. This isn't the first time the two heroes have raced each other, as they first battled it out on the track in 1967 in Superman #199, racing twice and tieing in both races. This time? Superman comes out on top.
Since then The Flash has normally been able to out-pace Superman, especially when he pushes himself to his absolute limits. But in the latest race, Superman collects himself and when pushed, demolishes the Flash.

Another day, another gorgeous 4K screenshot of Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red really is using the 'drip, drip, drip' method of hyping Cyberpunk 2077 as I said in my previous article covering a single new screenshot... and today, we have yet another single screenshot of the upcoming game.
Cyberpunk 2077's latest screenshot is in the glorious 4K resolution, showing off another location in the expansive world of Night City. In this screenshot we can see the gorgeous particle effects that CDPR has inked into Cyberpunk 2077, which is oozing with style and the best that graphics can offer.
The next time Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown is at EGX Berlin next month, where we should hopefully see more on the game -- at least more so than E3 20219 and Gamescom 2019 over the recent months.

Detroit: Become Human has sold 3.2 million copies on the PS4
Detroit: Become Human isn't far from launching on the PC, and just before it does the team at Quantic Dream are popping champagne after the announcement that it has sold over 3 million units on the PS4 worldwide.
Quantic Dream took to their official Twitter account to announce the news, tweeting: "We are delighted to announce that Detroit: Become Human has now sold in excess of 3 million units on PS4 worldwide".
The game will be launching on the PC imminently, as an exclusive to the Epic Games Store. I wouldn't expect sales to double for a few reasons (Epic Game Store exclusivity being one of them) but we should expect another 500K-1M sales on top from PC gamers jumping into the world of Detroit: Become Human.

Breath of the Wild 2 sure looks great as a Nintendo 64 game
What if Breath of the Wild 2 came out in 1998 as a Nintendo 64 game, complete with lower-res polygons and that distinct popping color scheme? Then we'd have this awesome trailer.
Put on your nostalgia goggles. It's time to take a trip to the past, an age where the Hero of Time conquered Nintendo's strange console with its three-pronged controllers and 64-bits ruled everything. It's 1998, the Nintendo 64 ushered in new joys of a 3D polygonal era, and everybody was talking about Zelda again. But what if things were different? What if Breath of the Wild, or its upcoming sequel, didn't come to Switch and instead rolled out on the N64? Hmm.
Talented animator The Regressor decided to answer our query by recreating the Breath of the Wild 2 announcement trailer with N64 graphics. The result is old-school magic at its finest. Click here to watch both trailers side-by-side.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will come to Stadia before Steam
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be out on Google's game-streaming Stadia service before it comes to Steam.
Rockstar Games today confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC this November, but only to certain platforms. The timeline is staggered and Steam is last in line. The Wild West magnum opus is coming first to the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Launcher on November 5, and will also be a launch title on Google Stadia. It's coming to Steam a month later in December.
So why's this so important? It shows Take-Two's and Rockstar's confidence in Stadia, or at the very least, their willingness to experiment on the platform. The service will effectively allow gamers to play RDR2 without owning a console or a PC, instead beaming the game right into living rooms via a Chromecast Ultra. It's a big move to put one of Rockstar's most popular games onto a streaming service, and RDR2 on Stadia could end up selling big thanks to the platform's accessibility.

Monster Hunter World's new Resident Evil crossover makes you a zombie
Monster Hunter World's latest cross-over sees Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield crashing an Iceborne monster mash.
Soon the world of Resident Evil 2 will invade Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, complete with resurrected zombies and featuring Claire and Leon as playable characters. The new cross-over transforms every player into an undead ghoul that shambles about Hoarfrost Reach, with the added bonus of being able to use Claire and Leon in battle. There's even a dungeon stylized around the Resident Evil franchise with lots of little throwbacks.
That's not the best part of the cross-over, though. Iceborne's Handler character has been transformed into Mr. X, making all of her cute mannerisms and emotes so out of place and hilarious. Anyone who's played the Resident Evil 2 Remake knows just how terrifying Mr. X can be, and seeing him like this is just ridiculous.

Civilization VI won't have cross-play multiplayer on consoles
About a week ago, I reported on Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm making its way over to consoles, and while this is great news for console fans it has been confirmed there will be no cross-platform play.
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm will be arriving on consoles next month, and while some console gamers might of expected to be able to take on opposing gamers from their counter-console, this unfortunately won't be the case. In the above Tweet from the official Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Twitter account, a fan asked if the game would be arriving with cross-play support between console and PC, the Twitter page replied with "There is no cross-play multiplayer between platforms".
The Tweet continues on to say that the PS4 version of the game won't support cloud saves either, but all other versions of the game will. Both of these pieces of information are quite saddening to learn, especially with a game like Civ where cloud saves are such a fundamental convenience. Civilization VI will be out on PS4 and Xbox One on November 22. Surprisingly, Civilization VI came to the Nintendo Switch first and has already been out for a year now.

Writers Guild of America abolish 'Gaming' category from 2020 awards
There is multiple awards to earn when developing video games, and one of the most prestigious awards you can obtain is for the games written story.
The Writers Guild for America (WGA) has now said that they won't be recognizing the 'Gaming' category that they have been handing out awards in since 2008. The 2020 WGA awards ceremony won't feature this category, and according to a statement to Gamasutra, "[the awards will] be reinstated when there is a critical mass of video games covered by the WGA in order to provide a meaningful award selection process."
In the entirety of this article you will find WGA's script submission requirements which seems to be where the problem has originated from. The WGA believe that there isn't enough good competition go around to warrant and award being handed out to a game script writer. This decision by the WGA will certainly come as heavy news to the writers who have worked on Death Stranding or other upcoming highly anticipated games. God of War will be last title to receive an award of outstanding writing.

Dark Souls inspired game 'CODE VEIN' gets first raunchy nude mods
Bandai Namco's Dark Souls inspired title CODE VEIN has got its first batch of raunchy nude mods, I bet you probably want to change your outfit in-game now.
CODE VEIN is an anime style RPG that features some quite revealing female and male characters, and while their standard outfits might be good enough for some players, they clearly weren't revealing enough for others. The male nude mode replaces clothing 1-6, while the female nude mod replaces outfit #5.
For players wanting to change their outfits, you must head over to the CODE VEIN NexusMods page and login, enable Adult Content and download them. To get the mod in-game, players must create a new directory in their CODE VEIN folder and extract the files to that folder. Once that is done, players can head over to the mirror next to the bath tub in their home base and change their outfit.

DOJ suspends Facebook's plans to implement end-to-end encryption
Back in March, Facebook announced plans to bring more privacy to not only their main platform but all their other services as well. This new privacy would come in the form of encryption for messages.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now set to make an announcement regarding Facebook's encryption plans, and according to a signed draft that BuzzFeed News and the New York Times obtained before publication, the DOJ will be halting the encryption process. Attorney General William Barr is said to make the request in an open letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Friday. The draft also shows signatures from Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan, UK Home Secretary Priti Patel and Australian Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton.
The main concern by the DOJ and others who have signed the letter is that if Facebook roll out its end-to-end encryption across all of its messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger), that law enforcement will be hindered in tracking illegal activity on the platforms. Which directly connects into this recent report about child sex abuse being rampant on Facebook Messenger. The DOJ letter argues that Facebook should be providing law enforcement agencies "lawful access to content in a readable and usable format". In other words, law enforcement agencies want back-door access to the messaging apps content even if the messages are 'encrypted'.

Apex Legends Halloween event: zombie players, Shadowfall map, Spiders?
Just like in most video games that get seasonal theme updates, Halloween is always a big one. It seems that Respawn Entertainment are jumping in on the fun with an Apex Legends Halloween event.
According to a Twitter user who has data mined the recent update, Respawn will be bringing out a Halloween event called 'Fight or Fright'. Shrugtal details that 'Fight or Fright' will take place on a new map called Shadowfall, this map is a re-skinned kings cannon and will be covered in darkness. The large Leviathans in the center will have glowing green eyes and according to the hidden information "for a limited time, a warped version of Apex games will be hosted at night in an abandoned Kings Canyon by a mysterious figure known only as Revenant."
The information continues and says "Solo Legends fight to the death but with a dark twist - when Legends die, they are reborn on the Shadow Squad, an ever-growing faction of dark LEgends who return from the dead to haunt their living counterparts with increased mobility and brutal melee attacks. The last 10 Living Legends will join forces to try to escape while the Shadow Squad attempts to stop them at all costs." First off, if this is the case for what Respawn have planned for Halloween, I'm sure I'm not the only one in saying this, but I'm more than excited to try it out.

Guild Wars 3 possibly in development before ArenaNet co-founder left
ArenaNet's Mike O'Brien might've laid the seeds for Guild Wars 3 before he left the studio, sources tell Kotaku.
After 19 long years, co-founder Mike O'Brien said goodbye to ArenaNet today. But he might've left the blueprints for another big Guild Wars project, possibly even the next sequel. As head of product development, O'Brien spent the last two years working on something new alongside a small team within ArenaNet.
Sources close to ArenaNet's going-ons tell Kotaku that this work could've manifested as Guild Wars 3, but whether or not the ideas were scrapped remains unknown. Apparently O'Brien isn't the only one leaving, either: The entire eight-person team working on the unannounced project is departing. O'Brien plans to open a new games studio to focus on smaller-scale titles.
