Final Fantasy 7 Remake should come to PC, but it won't happen until 2021.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo has leaked ahead of schedule, and dataminers have combed through every inch of the code to find all kinds of spoilers and details from the game. One not-so-surprising tidbit shows direct mention of PC hardware in the code, strongly hinting the game is coming to PC...but not before the PS4 exclusivity deal ends in 2021.

The demo code has other traces of PC support too. Dataminers uncovered higher resolution settings than the base 1080p 30FPS PS4 demo perf target (likely native 1440p and 4K). Again the FF7 Remake coming to PC isn't really a surprise considering Square Enix is doubling-down on PC re-releases, especially with projects its spend tons of money developing.

Having transformed EA with huge mega-hits like Apex Legends, the publisher has conscripted Respawn's Vince Zampella to lead its DICE studio in Los Angeles, California.

According to The L.A. Times, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella will rebrand a former DICE branch into a new EA studio.

The Titanfall mastermind will effectively lead two studios at the same time--both Respawn and the former DICE team will be under his tutelage--but the teams won't cross over. Zampella was careful to say the new studio would be entirely separate from Respawn and DICE's main HQ in Sweden, and will work on their own projects.

Free-to-play battle royale sensation Fortnite dominated yet another year of gaming, making more money that some publishers and developers make all year.

According to SuperData's new yearly report, Fortnite was the best-earning game of 2019 with over $1 billion in revenue generated from in-game microtransactions.

"Fortnite clinched the top spot for the second year in a row, generating $1.8 billion in 2019. The enduring popularity of Fortnite is partially attributable to crossover promotions with pop culture blockbusters like Avengers, Stranger Things and Star Wars," analyst firm SuperData said.

Sony's next-gen PlayStation 5 will outsell the Xbox Series X by virtue of PS4 backward compatibility, IHS Markit analyst Piers-Harding Rolls predicts.

According to new analyst predictions, the PS4's current lead over the Xbox One will help Sony beat Microsoft in next-gen console sales. How? Backwards compatibility. The PS4's massive 100 million+ install base carries with it hundreds of millions of game purchases, all of which will be playable on the PlayStation 5. That means current PS4 owners are much more likely to not only stay with PlayStation, but buy into the new PS5 hardware because their library of games carries forward to next-gen.

"I expect PS5 to outsell Xbox Series X in 2020, but for both platforms to sell more consoles at launch than both the PS4 and Xbox One did back in 2013," Harding-Rolls told GamesIndustry.biz. "One new factor for this upcoming generation is the impact of backwards compatibility on brand loyalty and audience transition. I think we'll see less brand switching as a result.

Nintendo will release a new souped-up Switch Pro in 2020 with 4K gaming support, Kantan Games analyst Serkan Toto predicts.

Nintendo could make a splash in 2020's next-gen market with a new Switch model, complete with beefier internal hardware like a new chipset and increased RAM to enable 4K gaming. Now that Nintendo has the handheld market completely dominated with the base Switch and on-the-go Switch Lite, it might be time for Nintendo to challenge the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X directly.

"There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Nintendo will launch a Switch Pro in 2020, my guess is at $399," Toto told GamesIndustry.biz.

The Hubble Space Telescope is one of the best tools we have to observe the cosmos. To close out 2019, NASA has decided to honor the telescope by making the last photo from it.

The image that Hubble has taken is simply breathtaking, as we can see such a detailed image of the galaxy. NASA scientists offered some insights to what we are exactly looking at, here's what they had to say:

"This galaxy has something known as an active galactic nucleus. While this phrase sounds complex, this simply means that astronomers measure a lot of radiation at all wavelengths coming from the center of the galaxy. This radiation is generated by material falling inward into the very central region of ESO 021-G004, and meeting the behemoth lurking there-a supermassive black hole".

2020 is shaping up to be a massive year for NASA, and the space exploration company wants you to be as excited as they are.

A new video has given the public a basic road map of what to expect from NASA this year. In 2020, NASA is preparing for the launch of Artemis I for the Moon, rocket testing, making plans for commercial science missions to the Moon, preparing for a rover to land on the Moon and search for water, trying out the next-gen spacesuit and most importantly, launching American astronauts from the U.S.

The microchip manufacturing process began way back in 1977, and since then, scientists, engineers, and everyone else in between has been working hard at making the process not only be more efficient but also more powerful. The current process of chip manufacturing is called 'photolithography'. This is the process of using light to transfer geometric patterns onto silicon, which are then engraved into the metal.

This whole process is extremely specific, and as humans have made chips more advanced, they have gotten smaller, acquired more transistors, have more performance, and are more energy-efficient. But what if the process required a change in manufacturing to achieve even better chips? Microsoft has just released a new video onto their Microsoft Flight Simulator YouTube Channel that reveals that the game will feature multiple seasons.

The video is titled "Let it snow!", and begins with an opening show over New York City in Autumn. We then see the city become slowly covered in snow as the season changes to Winter, eventually blanketing snow all over the buildings and central park. Microsoft Flight Simulator will use a huge amount of data from Bing Maps, and through Microsoft's cloud, it will be streamed directly to your PC to give you photo-realistic models of real Earth.

It should also be noted that Microsoft Flight Simulator will utilise real-time weather data, so if a storm is happening right above your house and you are wondering what would happen if a plane flew right into it -- you can answer that question in-game. Since Flight Simulator will be using real-time weather data, this would mean that when seasons are changing in real-life, we should see a reflection of that in-game.

What gamer doesn't like free games? Well, the Epic Games Store is currently giving away a considerable amount of free games.

Apart of the "12 free Days of Games" promotion that Epic Games is currently running, gamers will be able to claim $80 worth of free games. These games include some large franchise titles such as Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, and Steep.

Firstly, this is no joke. Netflix is actually looking for what they are calling as an "Associate Witcher". This person must have a passion for monster-slaying, though.

It seems that Netflix is pulling off one of the best marketing stunts I've seen a TV show do. On their official website, they have posted a job listing for an "Associate Witcher" that will be required to protect their 158 million members. Not everyone will be able to apply for the job, as Netflix says that the perfect candidate will have to possess the ability to "lift several hundred pounds overhead repeatedly."

Netflix also says that this job offer will be "contract only" and that the benefits will be that "You'll be one of many witchers responsible for the tracking and removal of all manners of monsters, beasts, demons, rogues, and more." If you are wondering what kind of healthcare plan Witchers get, Netflix says that "Healthcare is available if you know the right spell." Netflix warns anyone who accepts this contract that any standing, pending, or ensuing Law of Surprise is now rendered void. Samsung broke ground on its new EUV fabrication in Hwaseong, South Korea back in early-2018 and was recently hit with a power outage that saw production grinding to a halt.

Seeking Alpha reports that its source made a statement to Bloomberg, where it seems that DRAM, NAND, and system chip production seems to have been affected. We don't know which chips were affected by the production stopping.

The site reports that the pause was due to a "brief, one-minute outage" and that Samsung is "checking on the extent of the damage". Just a single minute can cause major issues, so let's hope nothing more comes from Samsung's troubles at its EUV plant in 2020.

Xiaomi is getting close to the official unveiling of its new Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro smartphones, with a new leak suggesting some rather delicious specs.

We're looking at Xiaomi's new Mi 10 smartphone featuring a large 6.5-inch OLED display with a super-fast 90Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 865 will be featured, which means we're looking at 5G connectivity being a standard in Xiaomi's new Mi 10 handsets.

Xiaomi is expected to include an 8GB model with 128/256GB of storage, while another rumored model packs 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. 40W fast charging will be included, while 30W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging are being touted.

AI is being used for one of the best causes on this planet -- cancer. DeepMind, the Google-owned and UK-based artificial intelligence company is now using AI towards breast cancer detection.

Breast cancer detection isn't a perfect science, as there are a high number of false positives (this is when a doctor or expert sees a mammogram and says there's an issue, like breast cancer is spotted, but there is, in fact, no cancer). AI on the other hand, isn't having as many issues with false positives.

DeepMind trained its AI using de-identified data from patients in the US and UK, where it saw false positives reduced by 5.7% and false negatives by 9.% in the US. But in the UK the numbers were much different, with 1.2% and 2.7% respectively. The AI in question only had access to the most recent mammogram of each patient, but it was able to make screening decisions with higher accuracy than their human counterparts.

Samsung has just announced that its new 8K QLED TVs will be included in the first wave of 8K TVs that have been certified by the 8K Association, or 8KA.

This certification means that TV manufacturers like Samsung and LG need to offer, at a minimum, 7680 x 4320 (8K resolution), with 600 nits of brightness, and support the HDMI 2.1 and HEVC (H.265) standards.

Samsung can now market its 8K QLED TVs being certified by the 8KA, with its own logo and all. Samsung Display VR Hyogun Lee explains: "Our goal is to provide consumers with the ability to easily identify premium 8K displays from other devices when making purchasing decisions".

TikTok continues to find itself in trouble with the US Navy first banning the use of the Chinese social media app on government-issued devices, and now the US Army is following in the same footsteps.

US Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa spoke with Military.com saying that TikTok was "considered a cyber threat". The US Defense Department warned employees back in mid-December 2019 to delete TikTok to "circumvent any exposure of personal information".

The major issue here is that US Army employees can't use TikTok on their government-issued smartphones, but nothing is stopping them (yet) from using TikTok on their personal devices. The US Army is continuing to warn soldiers against strange texts and other potentially damaging messages so that personal (and possibly critical) data isn't exposed.

AMD isn't shy about celebrating 2020 starting off with a bang, with the company teasing through its official Twitter that it will be pushing the envelope yet again in 2020 when it comes to high-performance computing.

We don't know what AMD will be unveiling at CES 2020, but it could be a world-first tease of the next-gen Zen 3 architecture, or it could be an even bigger tease of the new RDNA2 architecture that will power next-gen GPUs in 2020 on Radeon and power Microsoft's new Xbox Series X and Sony's new PlayStation 5 consoles.

But it's very specific to the high-performance computing (HPC) market -- so let's hope we're talking about an RDNA2-based tease which would be really huge. AMD stepping back into the high-performance graphics card market is a big deal, as NVIDIA has been alone there for quite a number of years now with its previous-gen Pascal and current-gen Turing GPU offerings.

In a world-first, scientists from the University of Bristol and the Technical University of Denmark have achieved quantum teleportation of data between two computer chips thanks to quantum entanglement.

This breakthrough is significant in the fact that the scientists sent the information from one chip to another chip -- while they were physically separated, and had nothing to do with each other. The researchers have said that this recent breakthrough could open the world of quantum computers and quantum internet.

The team used a pair of entangled photons on the chip, and then performed a quantum measurement on one of the photons -- and thanks to quantum entanglement (where the two particles are intertwined they can communicate over extremely long distances) the other chip saw its properties changed, almost magically.
