Hyundai dropped almost $900 million to take control of Boston Dynamics
Hyundai Motor Group announced its intent to purchase 80% of Boston Dynamics from SoftBank. The deal values the company at $1.1 billion. Hyundai intends to use the technology"to realize progress for humanity."
Hyundai Motor Group is doubling down on its robotics manufacturing portfolio. The company already designs and manufactures robots for automotive assembly lines. With the acquisition of Boston Dynamics, the company plans to develop robots for non-industrial use cases.
Boston Dynamics, famous for its videos of its robotic dog named Spot, builds some of the world's most advanced robotics technology. The company, which derived its technology from DARPA research, builds quadrupedal and bipedal robots that can walk like the creatures they mimic. The company also makes AI algorithms to enable these robots to adapt to their environment.

New Cyberpunk 2077 update reduces pop-in, fixes TONS of quests
Cyberpunk 2077 just got a new update on PC and PS4 that fixes lots of quests, bugs, and other technical issues.
CDPR just updated Cyberpunk 2077 to v1.04 on PS4 and PC (Xbox One version coming later) in an effort to tighten up the very buggy game. Countless players and reviewers (myself included) have encountered lots of bugs and glitches--things from cars flying in weird directions, textures not showing up, characters acting erratically, and quests simply not being completable) have plagued Cyberpunk 2077's launch. CDPR says this is the first of many fixes...which also means the game's size will continue ballooning.
The new 17GB update reduces the risk of epileptic seizures by lowering severity of flashing lights in certain game sequences, and also makes Cyberpunk 2077 streaming-friendly by correctly removing all copywritten songs from the "Disable Copyrighted Music" setting.

Cyberpunk 2077 was profitable before it even launched
Cyberpunk 2077 made a profit and recouped all development costs even before it launched, which is rare for video games.
Today CDPR confirmed Cyberpunk 2077's pre-orders were enough to make the game profitable ahead of its official release. According to a new press release, CDPR received enough royalties from pre-order sales to recover full development expenditures of the game (over $121 million) as well as money spent on promotions.
Cyberpunk 2077 had over 8 million pre-orders total, and most of them were digital. This is 8x the Witcher 3's pre-orders, which sat at about 1 million ahead of launch. 59% of all pre-orders were from PC and CDPR also confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 made over $50 million in pre-orders and launch sales on Steam, so they now get to keep 80% of all profits of the game sold on Steam.

Official new Mass Effect 4 shows Liara, confirms trilogy continuity
Mass Effect 4 is happening, and BioWare just revealed the first bit of CGI footage.
Following a Dragon Age 4 in-engine teaser, BioWare dropped a very early look at the next Mass Effect project. The game seems to follow the continuity of the trilogy and push far away from Andromeda, and features a familiar Asari face on an icy planet. Liara shows up and digs up a relic from the Reaper war, showing what appears to be Shepard's N7 insignia.
Liara (or the mysterious Asari) also has some crewmates in the distance, but we can't make them out. It's possible Mass Effect 4 will once again resurrect Commander Shepard for another dire mission...or maybe the N7 piece is a symbolic passing of the torch. Whatever the case may be, we shouldn't expect to see Mass Effect for a while.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia renewed to Season 18
Celebrate, fellow jabronis: TV's most dysfunctional and rambunctious group of misfits will grace our televisions for four more seasons.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia might not ever end. Today Disney announced FX Networks has renewed the landmark show for four more seasons, which will push the show up to season 18. Patty's Pub isn't going anywhere any time soon.
"I'm delighted to announce four more seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, taking the show to season 18, four seasons longer than the prior record-holder for longest-running live-action sitcom in television history, Ozzie and Harriet,"said FX CEO John Landgraf.

Cyberpunk 2077 huge on the PC, biggest PC game launch EVER
Cyberpunk 2077 has been unleashed, and with some record-breaking numbers on Steam -- CD PROJEKT RED has some big bragging rights with 8 million pre-orders... over half of which were on the PC.
CD PROJEKT RED's own investor relations account tweeted out some information in the last 24 hours, where Cyberpunk 2077 enjoyed a huge 8 million pre-orders. Now the best part here is that 59% of these sales were on the PC, while just 41% of Cyberpunk 2077's pre-orders came from consoles.
It seems from these statistics that Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest PC launch of all time, with Blizzard recently announcing its newly-released World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion was the fastest-selling PC game ever... yeah well, Blizzard can eat a fat one from Cyberpunk 2077 it seems.

Flight Simulator exclusive to Xbox Series X/S, not coming to Xbox One
Flight Simulator will be exclusive to Xbox Series X and Series S consoles when it launches in Summer 2021.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to consoles, but it won't be on the weaker Xbox One hardware. The company is starting to leave the Xbox One behind as early as 2021, and some games will be all the better for it. Flight Simulator is extremely demanding on GPUs and CPUs, and the Xbox One's outdated Jaguar SoC simply isn't up to par, even with the help of Microsoft's Azure cloud tech.
The new Game Awards footage shows Flight Simulator running on an Xbox Series X in 4K with great results. The game doesn't look as good as it does on an enthusiast PC, of course, and there's still some pop-in and noticeable graphical downgrades, but it still looks damn good for console hardware. The Series X is pretty adept at handling a game like this thanks to the console's 12TFLOP Navi GPU and Zen 2 CPU, accompanied with the PCIe 4.0 SSD for faster data processing/streaming and loading.

ASUS confirms Radeon RX 6900 XT ROG STRIX LC, liquid cooled Big Navi
ASUS has just unveiled its new Radeon RX 6900 XT ROG STRIX LC graphics card, a custom liquid-cooled Big Navi beast that will surely be one of the best RDNA 2-powered cards money can buy (if you can buy it) when it drops. Check it out:
The new Radeon RX 6900 XT ROG STRIX LC joins the just-released Radeon RX 6800 XT ROG STRIX LC graphics card, except this has the Radeon RX 6900 XT underneath. We still have the 16GB of GDDR6 memory, etc -- with my review on the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT reference card for your viewing pleasure here.
ASUS is requiring 3 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors, normal display connectivity (so 2 x DP 1.4 + 1 x HDMI 2.1 + USB Type-C). But what ASUS is doing huge here is the massive AIO cooler with a 240mm external radiator, with 60cm tubing -- it requires two additional cables (power + RGB) so there are a lot of cables into your PC with this card.

New Dragon Age 4 teaser shows insane next-gen PS5, Series X graphics
Our first look at Dragon Age 4's next-gen visuals show a dazzling high-fantasy world full of splendor.
After years of waiting, tonight we finally got to see Dragon Age 4 in action. The new teaser trailer shown at The Game Awards reveals new high-level graphical optimizations made possible by DICE's next-gen Frostbite engine. The results are absolutely spellbinding.
The footage opens up with dialog from Varric explaining how the protagonist isn't a prophesied hero or a grand mage. You're not actually special in Dragon Age 4, but that's a big advantage because according to Varric, they "won't ever see you coming."

Cyberpunk 2077 had 8 million pre-orders, broke $50 million on Steam
As expected, Cyberpunk 2077 is already a huge success for CD Projekt RED.
CDPR was reticent to share exact Cyberpunk 2077 pre-orders before the game was released. But now that the sci-fi FPS RPG is out, they're happy to share figures. Cyberpunk 2077 has amassed 8 million pre-orders on digital and physical platforms in the last two weeks, which is more than some games sell in their entire lifetimes.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a big hit on Steam, too. The game has made over $50 million in revenues so far, meaning CD Projekt RED now gets to keep 80% of all game sales on Steam (versus the default 70-30 revenue split). This is great news for CDPR, who also enjoys 100% of all revenues from sales on their own GOG.com storefront.

Woman of La Mancha job - locate Anna Hamill: Cyberpunk 2077 guide
The Woman of La Mancha gig is one of the earliest gigs in the game, given to you by a fixer after you see a ripperdoc for the first time and get your optics upgraded. If this gig is anything to go by, you'll want to spec up your technical abilities as soon as possible.
The first step is to locate Anna Hamill, the last good cop in Night City, so follow the map to the marketplace.
Option 1: if you have a technical ability of four or higher, you can hack open the hotel's door overlooking the marketplace, then enter the room on the right and take over the security cameras. Don't miss the extra stuff in this room - including some rare armor, 1744 eddies, and an access point you can jack in to for another 400 eddies and some legendary quickhack components.

GIGABYTE's x470 and B450 motherboards now support Ryzen 5000 CPUs
GIGABYTE this week released new BIOS updates for its x470 and B450 motherboard lineup that adds support for AMD's Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. It's too bad that you can't buy the processors.
AMD launched the Zen 3 architecture with its Ryzen 5000 series CPUs last month. At launch, only the newest boards equipped with AMD's x570 and B550 chipsets received support for the latest CPUs on launch day.
AMD said that BIOS updates for older x470 and B450 chipsets would come in the new year, but GIGABYTE didn't wait that long to add support for the latest CPUs on its older boards. BIOS version F60 is available now, and with it, you can drop one of AMD's shiny new Ryzen 5 5600x, Ryzen 7 5800x, Ryzen 9 5900x, or Ryzen 9 5950x CPUs into your board.

Cyan's Myst is now available on Oculus Quest
Myst, the classic point-and-click puzzle adventure game from Cyan, has made its VR debut. The developer has rebuilt the game from the ground to make the adventure even more immersive.
If you grew up gaming in the '90s, you probably remember Cyan's Myst. This game captured countless gamers' hearts in the early '90s and was re-released multiple times over the last 27 years, including 2000's Masterpiece Edition and 2014's realMyst Masterpiece Edition. The game was subsequently followed up by a full series that included six full games to tell Myst's intricate tale.
Now, Cyan is bringing the original game back for a new generation to experience. Myst on Quest features all the actual puzzles from the original and intertwined storey plots of the original. It's ready for newcomers to dive in, and it's all set for veterans of the series. If you've played Myst enough times to remember the puzzles, you can enable puzzle randomization to bring fresh air to the experience. As if wandering around freely in Myst's four ages in 6-DoF VR isn't a new enough take on the game.
