Elon Musk posts memes while Twitter's lawyer says the deal is still on
SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stated on Twitter that his deal to purchase Twitter has been put "on hold", but now a Twitter executive has said that the deal is operating as per normal.
It was only a week ago that Elon Musk took to her personal Twitter account to announce that his deal to purchase the world's second largest social media platform, Twitter, was temporarily "on hold" as he was investigating Twitter's claims that it spam/fake accounts represent less than 5% of total users.
Now, according to a recent report from Bloomberg who spoke to Twitter's top lawyer and head of policy, Vijaya Gadde, the deal is proceeding as expected, and there is "no such thing as a deal on hold". The report states that Gadde held a meeting with workers where she informed them that the deal was moving forward and that the company would not be renegotiating Musk's agreed-upon price to purchase the company for $54.20 per share.

Origin of famous alien signal pinpointed to potentially habitable star
A study on the Wow! signal titled "An approximation to determine the source of the WOW! Signal" has been published in the International Journal of Astrobiology.
The Wow! signal was detected by Jerry Ehman using Ohio State University's Big Ear telescope on August 15th, 1977. It was named as such after Ehman wrote "Wow!" on the printout from the telescope. The Big Ear telescope was conducting a SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) using a frequency of 1420.4056 megahertz, a frequency associated with the element hydrogen.

Google DeepMind claims they're close to achieving human-level AI
Dr. Nando de Freitas, a lead researcher at Google's DeepMind, has declared "the game is over" when it comes to achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), or human-level intelligence.
Freitas took to Twitter in response to an opinion piece by Tristan Greene following the release of DeepMind's Gato, in which Greene suggests that humanity may never achieve AGI and that it at least seems "like AGI won't be happening in our lifetimes."
Gato is an artificial intelligence (AI) that DeepMind is calling "A Generalist Agent." Freitas oversaw the Gato project, and is one of the authors on a study uploaded to the arXiv pre-print server.

Elongate: Musk accused of paying $250k to staffer for exposing himself
SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been accused of sexual misconduct by exposing himself to a flight attendant and offering to pay her for sexual favors.
BusinessInsider has learned that a flight attendant that worked at SpaceX as part of Musk's private jet cabin crew was encouraged by the crew to become a licensed masseuse so she could give Musk massages throughout travel. The flight attendant told her story to a friend that has now spoken to Insider, and according to the friend, on a flight to London in 2016, Musk allegedly asked for "a full body massage", and when the flight attendant arrived, she found Musk with just a sheet covering his bottom half.
According to the friend's declaration, Musk "exposed his genitals" and then "touched her and offered to buy her a horse if she would 'do more,' referring to the performance of sex acts." The flight attendant is interested in horses and said to Musk that she "is not for sale," adding, "She is not going to perform sexual favors for money or gifts." Insider interviewed the flight attendant's friend, only speaking on the condition of anonymity, and said that "He whipped out his penis, it was erect."

GeIL EVO-V: the world's first DDR5 RAM with a dual-fan RGB cooler
GeIL has just unveiled their new EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory with a "ground-breaking dual-fan cooling system that combines RGB illumination and next-generation active cooling design into a one-piece molded heatshield".
The new GeIL EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory comes in 32GB and 64GB kits with speeds of between DDR5-4800 and DDR-6600. The unique heat spreader is joined with an active cooling system with RGB lighting and comes in both titanium gray and glacier white variants.
Even with the extensive cooling system and dual-fan cooler, the GeIL EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory can fit next to most CPU coolers of the physical height of the heat spreader. The two cooling fans are found in the heatshield's top left and top right corners, pushing airflow across the DDR5 RAM: up to 45% more thermal dissipation is achieved, which is quite significant. Nice work there, GeIL.

Huawei Mate Xs 2 foldable phone released: 120Hz display, but no 5G
Huawei has just announced its new foldable smartphone is available, introducing the new Mate Xs 2 foldable smartphone with its huge 7.8-inch OLED display.
The new Huawei Mate Xs 2 foldable smartphone rocks a 7.8-inch OLED with a 2480 x 2200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Huawei announced the new Mate Xs 2 foldable phone earlier this year, but now it's available in China starting now... and then Europe and other western markets.
What makes the Huawei Mate Xs 2 different to the leader of the foldable smartphone race: Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 -- is that the Chinese manufacturer uses a foldable panel that folds outwards. Samsung, and others, have their displays fold in... keeping the internal (the larger) display protected when closed and in your pocket.

NVIDIA LHRv3 (RTX 3050 + RTX 3080 12GB) unlocked 90%, crypto gimp dies
NVIDIA released the GeForce RTX 3050 8GB and GeForce RTX 3080 12GB graphics cards LHR-locked -- well, LHRv3 or Lite Hash Rate v3 -- and now that's been 90% unlocked.
The current LHRv1 and LHRv2 models are completely unlocked now through software, with no hardware modifications or requirements, with LHRv3 models now 90% unlocked. The LHRv3-based RTX 3050 8GB and RTX 3080 12GB models are based on new versions of the algorithm, but the algorithm has now been cracked to 90% at least.
NiceHash QuickMiner v0.5.4.2 RC requires NVIDIA 512.15 driver (or newer) in order to work, but now if crypto miners (and bigger crypto farms) had a bunch of RTX 3050 8GB or RTX 3080 12GB graphics cards... now they can be unleashed (90% is bloody close to 100% and I'm sure it won't be long until LHRv3 is fully unlocked... give it a few more days).

Attack King Kong's testicles in Call of Duty: Warzone for baller XP
Call of Duty: Warzone had a huge update with its recent Operation Monarch event reveal, where King Kong and Godzilla kind of duke it out in Warzone.
It has been a mostly forgettable event, there's something a bit more fun here -- players have discovered you can easily farm some rather baller additional XP by attacking the testicles of King Kong -- yes, that's right: blow up Kong's balls and get XP.
They're not exactly his balls per se, as you can't see his gigantic house-sized balls dangling around in the game as Kong isn't anatomically correct, but if you attack the region where his balls are, you're going to get some additional XP. Call of Duty: Warzone's Operation Monarch event went live on May 11, and wraps up on May 25.

Martin Shkreli aka 'Pharma Bro' released from prison early
Martin Shkreli has been released from prison early, completing under five years of his seven-year prison sentence. Martin "Pharma Bro" Shkreli is now free, and already back on social media.
Shkreli's first post on social media the second he was out of prison: "Getting out of real prison is easier than getting out of Twitter prison". After personally just watching "Pharma Bro", I suggest watching it as it gives a great (and quick 1.5-hour) insight into the life of Martin Shkreli... and what he did "wrong" and how he lived, and his fans... man, his fans.
Ben Brafman, Shkreli's attorney, said: "I am pleased to report that Martin Shkreli has been released from Allenwood prison and transferred to a BOP halfway house after completing all programs that allowed for his prison sentence to be shortened".

Borderlands 3 is free on the Epic Games Store, get it ASAP
Borderlands 3 is free on the Epic Games Store--get it here.
Epic's mystery freebie has been revealed, and it's a doozy. Borderlands 3 was the hyped-up EGS game for May and for good reason: It might be among the top games the storefront has given out gratis. Let's also not forget the game made EGS $14 million in one day.
The main goal of this freebie is long-term monetization. Borderlands 3 will soon be 3 years old so the sales are trailing off, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is also out now (this game has done so well it surprised Take-Two. Borderlands 3 has in-game purchases and microtransactions and 2K Games/Rockstar have had big success with EGS freebies in the past, with GTA V's freebie boosting franchise revenues to $263 million.

GTA remastered trilogy sales drop to less than 1 million
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy- The Definitive Edition has sold less than 1 million copies during the Q4 period, Take-Two Interactive's financials suggest.
Following a huge explosive debut, the GTA remastered trilogy has petered out. The game shipped an estimated 10 million copies during launch in Q3'22 during last year's holiday season. Three months later, during Q4'22, the game sold less than 1 million units.
These numbers are suggested by a quick bit of math. GTA V sales rose 5 million units from Q3 to Q4, totaling 165 million. Total GTA franchise sales also rose by 5 million units to 375 million. This implies that the bump in total franchise sales was from GTA V, and the GTA trilogy didn't hit 1 million sales.

NASA explains the mysterious 'portal' it's Mars rover photographed
The Mars Curiosity rover snapped an image of a rock formation on the surface of the Red Planet, and the image has picked up quite a lot of traction online.
The image was posted to the NASA subreddit, where it gained many upvotes, with many people speculating what the "door" was and how it formed. Looking at the image, there are many shadows cast by the rock, which has lent to the theory of the alien "door" being formed, which was quickly shut down by NASA officials.
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) spoke to Snopes and said that the rock formation gives the appearance of a "portal" or a "door" due to it being a "very, very, very zoomed in shot of a tiny crevice in a rock." Notably, NASA JPL said to the publication that the "door" is only 11 by 17 inches, and to understand its true size, you can look at the below full-sized image.
