Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is just the beginning. CD Projekt RED confirms that it has more plans to expand into TV shows and films based on its popular brands.

Gaming is no stranger to transmedia, but Edgerunners, the new Cyberpunk anime on Netflix, helped spark Cyberpunk 2077's comeback story. The game saw a massive influx in players after the anime came out. CDPR said 1 million people logged into the dystopian sci-shooter every day for a full week and the game broke into Steam's top charts, briefly becoming the best-selling game and amassing over 136,000 concurrent players.

On the heels of the successes of both Edgerunners and the Witcher live action series, CD Projekt says it has "many more ideas" on how to expand its business.

CD Projekt RED is letting an external development team work on a new Witcher RPG so that it can focus on new projects.

CD Projekt is working on a ton of new games. The studio announced a new Witcher trilogy codenamed Polaris that is set to release across a six-year span, as well as a fully-fledged sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 that should have multiplayer. There's actually five Witcher projects in development, but CD Projekt is only involved in four of them.

Following major tech and IP expansion, CD Projekt is handing off the development of one of its new Witcher games to another developer. The game is codenamed Canis Majoris (which roughly translates to "big dog") and is described as a story-driven, singleplayer open-world RPG.

The new Witcher saga is a trilogy of games that will all release in less than a decade, CD Projekt RED has officially announced.

Fans will not have to wait long for next Witcher game. CD Projekt today confirmed that its new Witcher saga, which is codenamed Polaris, will consist of three games set in a AAA RPG trilogy, and that the entire saga will be released in six years. This is a massive acceleration for CD Projekt, who typically releases one big AAA game every 4-5 years.

The Polaris saga will be developed using Unreal Engine 5 as part of a multi-year partnership agreement with Epic Games, and is being developed by over 150 people. The saga is in pre-production and should incorporate multiplayer in some way, which will be the first time any Witcher game has had online content. CD Projekt promises that multiplayer will be designed to "enrich the singleplayer experience."

CD Projekt RED has announce its first-ever new original IP that's built from the ground up within the studio.

Today was a big day for CD Projekt. The studio announced four major new game projects alongside Project Hadar, the first wholly-owned new IP that the studio has ever made.

Up until now CD Projekt has licensed two franchises, The Witcher and Cyberpunk, to make its games. The studio doesn't own these properties and has to pay rights holders royalties on a pre-arranged basis. But now CD Projekt wants to be in total control over creation, direction, and the overall business of a game--that's why they're developing Project Hadar.

Today CD Projekt announced its new company strategy roadmap that outlines games in production and development, including a new Cyberpunk game. The game is called Project Orion, and will be developed by the core CD Projekt RED dev team. From the sound of it, the developer isn't going to make the same mistakes that it did with Cyberpunk 2077's original 2020 release.

Project Orion is described as a "Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that will prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe."

In what appears to be the largest education breach in the last couple of years, a large amount of student data has been released by a group of hackers that infiltrated a school system last month.

The hacking group named Vice Society claimed responsibility for the ransomware attack on Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), which resulted in the bad actors gaining access to emails, computer systems, applications, and more. Reports indicate that hundreds of gigabytes of student data was stolen and that the hacker group demanded an undisclosed amount of money for the return of the data. Unfortunately, as expected by U.S. authorities, the data was released online as the October 4 deadline was not met.

According to Tech Crunch, the stolen data was posted to Vice Society's dark website and contains extremely sensitive data on students, such as personal identification information, passport details, Social Security numbers, and tax documents. Additionally, the half a terabyte of leaked sensitive information also contains confidential information in the form of documents, contracts, health information on students/staff, COVID-19 test data, conviction reports, and psychological assessments on students.

YouTube seems to be moving toward forcing its users to pay for YouTube Premium to watch videos in 4K quality.

Reports from Mac Rumors and Engadget reveal screenshots taken by users and posted to social media platforms such as Reddit and Twitter. These screenshots showcase YouTube's user interface asking viewers to upgrade their account to YouTube Premium to watch videos in 3840x2160 (4K) quality. It should be noted that as of reporting, there has been no official word from YouTube on this change or what region/s this change will be rolled out to if it ever comes to fruition.

Additionally, YouTube hasn't said if this is just a test, or if the new paywall will be rolled out across its entire platform. If the change is rolled out across the entire platform, users will be required to pay $12 per month, or $120 per year, to view videos in 4K quality.

Reports indicate that the US Military spilled more than 1,000 gallons of wastewater into Pearl Harbor on Thursday, sparking major backlash from community members concerned about Hawaii's environmental treatment.

The news comes from Civil Beat, which reported a 12-inch wastewater line broke, causing a massive amount of sewage to spill directly into the ocean. Following the discovery of the leak, the US Navy announced via a press release that it had fixed the leak at Pier B-23 with a plug, but the wastewater that spilled into the ocean is, unfortunately, "unrecoverable".

Notably, the new spill into Hawaii's oceans comes only two days after the Department of Health fined the Navy $8.7 million for tainting Hawaii's waters with fecal bacteria that was traced back to previous sewage spilling. The seemingly rampant spilling of sewage into Hawaii's oceans has sparked community demands for the military to treat Hawaii's environment with more respect or to reduce its overall presence in the islands.

NASA has taken to its social channels to share a video that showcases a small piece of martian debris stuck to the foot of its Mars helicopter named Ingenuity.

At the end of September, NASA announced Ingenuity successfully completed its 33rd flight on September 24, where it traveled 364 feet over the Martian surface at an altitude of 33 feet. The total flight time was 55.2 seconds, and during the flight, the 4-pound helicopter traveled at a max speed of 10.6 mph to its new destination, where it will await its coming mission. NASA JPL has taken to Twitter to share a video captured by Ingenuity's navigation camera (Navcam) that reveals a small piece of debris attached to one of the helicopter's feet.

The space agency categorizes the object as "foreign object debris," and it's seen approximately halfway through the above video, where it briefly gets stuck and then falls back down to Mars' surface. NASA has conducted an analysis on Ingenuity to determine if the debris caused any damage, and according to the space agency, everything appears to be performing as expected with no damage to report. NASA says teams are now investigating the source of the debris.

Kim Kardashian has been ordered to pay more than $1 million by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over her involvement in a cryptocurrency project called EthereumMax.

The fine stems from an Instagram Stories post that Kardashian posted about EthereumMax's EMAX tokens, which the SEC determined that she didn't disclose was a paid advertisement, which is a violation of the SEC's federal securities laws that require a person must mention that its a paid promotion (if it is a paid promotion). According to the SEC, Kardashian agreed to pay the $1.26 million fine, which it says covers the initial $250,000 she was paid for the post, and any interest made.

Furthermore, Kardashian pledged that she would not promote any cryptocurrency projects or assets for the next three years. In a new video posted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission YouTube channel, Securities and Exchange Commission chair Gary Gensler explained that just because celebrities and influencers endorse investment opportunities, including cryptocurrency assets, it doesn't mean that the celebrity/influencer's promotional product is the "right" purchase for all investors.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO and founder Elon Musk has weighed in on how to resolve the conflict erupting between Russia and Ukraine.

Musk fired off a series of tweets on Monday that proposed a series of conditions that he believes will lead to peace being established between the two battling nations. However, his points of view have sparked major online debate leading to "#Elon" trending on Twitter and responses from multiple high-level Ukrainian officials.

Musk called for a "redo" of elections in regions annexed by Russia under the supervision of the United Nations, recognizing that Crimea is part of Russia, the water supply of Crimea given to Russia, and Ukraine pledging it remains neutral. Musk followed up with a couple of Twitter polls that asked his 100+ million followers if a peace deal should be brokered between Russia and Ukraine, as well as a separate poll that called for the people living in the Donbas and Crimea regions to vote if "they're part of Russia or Ukraine".

Elon Musk has found himself in the middle of online controversy following a series of tweets from the Tesla CEO about what needs to be done in Ukraine.

The Tesla and SpaceX founder took to Twitter last night to post a barrage of Ukraine-Russia war tweets which revealed his opinion on the matter and what he believes needs to be done to reach a resolution. Musk's Monday night tweet proposed a series of conditions that he believes would lead to peace being brokered between the two nations.

The first was a call for elections to be redone in regions that have recently been annexed by Russia, and the second was the call for Crimea to be formally part of Russia "as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev's mistake)", wrote Musk. The last two points Musk made were that the water supply to Crimea should be "assured" and that Ukraine "remains neutral". These tweets from Musk sparked a major online debate that is still raging on, with many Ukrainian officials chiming in and bashing the Tesla CEO's stance on the overall issue.

North Korea reportedly fired a missile over Japan a few hours ago, and now Russia's flagship nuclear-powered submarine with its "doomsday weapon" have "gone missing". An entire submarine, in 2022, is missing.

NATO has reportedly warned members that the nuclear-powered submarine isn't in its White Sea base, where it has been sitting active since July. Officials are now warning (fear-mongering, blame-shifting) that Russia will use its Belgorod nuclear-powered submarine and its doomsday weapon "Poseidon".

Poseiden is a next-gen weapon system that has a drone carrying a nuclear bomb, with Italian media reporting that a 1600-foot "radioactive tsunami" would be the result of the doomsday weapon being used. The drone would drop the bomb at a depth of 1 kilometer near a coastal city, where a gigantic 1600-foot wave would smash the coast, irradiating it, and the environment, and killing untold amounts of people in the process.

Activision-Blizzard has officially shut down the servers for the original Overwatch, with a 24-hour blackout between that and the launch of Overwatch 2. But when does Overwatch 2 launch in your country, specifically? Not long from now, folks.

Secretlab has revealed the first two members of the Overwatch 2 Collection with the Tracer Edition and Genji Edition gaming chairs, which are both available in Small, Regular, and XL versions and upholstered in Secretlab's comfy NEO Hybrid Leatherette.

AMD's new Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" processors have only just hit the market, but now HWiNFO is wanting to get ahead of the rest with support for next-gen Zen 5 processors.

HWiNFO now has "early support" for AMD's new Zen 5 processors, and while we won't see much on Zen 5 for a while yet, once the engineering samples (ES) processors start dropping, HWiNFO will be ready to support them. HWiNFO's new update also includes enhanced support for Intel's next-gen Meteor Lake and Granite Rapids platforms.

AMD's new Zen 5 CPU architecture isn't expected until 2023, Intel's new Meteor Lake CPUs aren't due until late 2023 at the earliest, while Granite Rapids is a 2024+ product. HWiNFO wants to get in early with its "early support" and "enhanced support" it seems.

North Korea has reportedly fired a ballistic missile directly over Japan, with the country stepping up its weapons testing that AP reports are "designed to strike key targets in regional US allies amid stalled nuclear diplomacy". They sure know so much about North Korea, without, uh, visiting or interviewing anyone.

The country reportedly fired at least one missile according to the Japanese Prime Minister's office, with the missile flying into the Pacific Ocean. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) have confirmed the North Korean missile launched from North Korea's Mupyong-ri area in Jagang Province at around 7.23 am local time, saying that the missile flew eastwards over neighboring Japan.

The middle flew over the northeastern prefecture of Aomori, landing outside of Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone at around 7:46 am local time (6:46 pm ET).

NVIDIA has just updated the specifications for its new Hopper H100 datacenter GPU, with the updated specs coming just two weeks after the company detailed its huge Hopper H100 GPU.

The new NVIDIA Hopper H100 GPU has improved single-precision and double-precision compute performance numbers, where during the announcement we heard it would have 30 TFLOPS of FP64 compute performance, but Hopper H100 now has 34 TFLOPS of FP64 compute performance.

NVIDIA has up to 16896 CUDA cores inside of its Hopper H100 GPU, which will be clocked at a higher GPU clock of at least 1982MHz -- not the 1775MHz GPU clocks that were previously reported -- NVIDIA is tapping the same custom TSMC N4 process node as its Ada Lovelace GPU architecture inside of the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards.

ASRock's new mid-range B650 motherboards have leaked, with the new flagship ASRock B650E Taichi smiling for the leaker camera in all its... uh... E-ATX form factor glory.

The new ASRock B650E Taichi motherboard is a bigger E-ATX motherboard with 24+2+1 VRM phase design and the new AMD AM5 socket, while the current-gen B550E Taichi from ASRock has a 16 phase (14+2) design and comes in a regular ATX form factor.

Microsoft has officially launched a dedicated website that's devoted to its proposed $68.7 billion merger with Activision-Blizzard.

Microsoft now has a website for its hopeful acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. The site serves as a one-stop shop for archived data, information, and communications from Microsoft regarding the merger, complete with a list of all the benefits that the merger would pose for gamers, creators, and the industry as a whole.

It includes quotes, links, and a diagram expressing how the deal is good for everyone involved--except for maybe Sony, who recently confirmed Call of Duty, a $30 billion franchise that's poised to expand exponentially this year, would only remain on PlayStation for 3 years after existing contracts had ended.
