TCL showcased a new pro-level tablet at CES 2024, and while it might not get as much attention as tablets from Samsung or Apple, it's attempting to catch some eyes with its attempt at capturing two markets in one device.

The new offering from TCL is the new NXTPAPER tablets, which arrive in both 14-inch and 10-inch models and are designed to bridge the gap between e-readers and tablets. The NXTPAPER 14 Pro's display features a VersaView interface, which allows users to quickly switch between a black-and-white reader mode and a standard tablet view. As for specs, the 14-inch model features a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, NXTPAPER 3.0 display tech, which converts the display into a paper-like reading surface, and more.

TCL writes that its new NXTPAPER series filters out 61% of blue light, making the overall experience on the new tablets much easier for users' eyes. The latest iteration of tablets reaches 700 nits on the 14-inch model, and it also comes with a Circularly Polarized Light (CPL) screen, which makes reading in the light much easier. In tablet mode, the NXTPAPER 14 Pro can reach up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

OpenAI has taken to its blog to call out The New York Times over the publications lawsuit filed against the AI developer.

The lawsuit filed against OpenAI by The New York Times claims the AI developer's ChatGPT service reproduced New York Times stories verbatim, which OpenAI has now fired back against, writing the Times "is not telling the full story". The developers behind ChatGPT argue that the Times had entered specific prompts to get ChatGPT to reproduce an article the way the publication was claiming.

Tesla has released a video on its YouTube channel showcasing what appears to be the most attractive features of the recently-started shipping Cybertruck.

The video was posted to Tesla's official YouTube channel and was originally titled "Cybertruck in 60 seconds", but it has since had its title changed to "Cybertruck Features," which was more accurately named. The video shows a fast-paced series of demonstrations of the main Cybertruck features, starting off with the storage in the back of the pick-up truck, 120/240V outlets, touchscreens, 15 speakers, 2 subwoofers, 11,000 lbs of towing capacity, which is demonstrated with footage of Cybertruck towing a SpaceX Raptor engine.

The video continues to show the Cybertruck's adaptive air suspension, which can increase its height. There are also 4-wheel-steering capabilities, steer by wire, a 2,500-pound payload capacity, lockable storage, and, of course, speed. Tesla's Cybertruck, despite its weight, is able to reach 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. The video doesn't showcase absolutely everything within the Cybertruck, but if you are interested, I highly recommend watching the video below by Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), who has spent extensive time with one and reviewed it.

Dell has unveiled two new gaming monitors under its Alienware brand at CES 2024, both of which the company claims are world firsts.

First up is the Alienware 32 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW3225QF), a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor that comes with Dolby Vision HDR for improved color and contrast, a native 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms GtG response time, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, NVIDIA G-Sync, VESA Adaptive Sync, DCI-P3 99% color coverage, and a 1700R curvature. As for connectivity, the AW3225QF features an HDMI 2.1 port, an adjustable stand, and a three-year warranty covering OLED burn-in.

The INNO3D GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER TWIN X2 arrived at TweakTown GPU HQ (that is my home office). Ahead of its full launch on January 17, we're able to share some shots and a short video showcasing one of the very first GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs to hit the market.

This MSRP model will adhere to the $599 USD price point for the new GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, so there will be no out-of-the-box overclocking or over-the-top cooling. YouTube has updated its policies regarding cyberbullying and harassment on its platform in an attempt to reduce content depicting deceased children or any other realistic simulation of a deadly/violent event describing death.

The recent change by the world's biggest video platform comes as a wave of popularity has shined a light on true crime content creators using AI-powered tools to generate simulations of true events. These recreations can sometimes feature depictions of deceased children, disturbing instances, and violence. Additionally, there are instances of creators recreating a high-profile child victim's "voice" to describe their own death.

Examples of true crime content creators recreating famous cases featuring children are as follows; the abduction of British two-year-old James Bulger, the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann, and Gabriel Fernández, an eight-year-old boy, who was tortured and murdered by his mother and her boyfriend. Under the new policy changes, YouTube will apply a strike to any channel that violates its newly implemented rules, and the offending account won't be able to publish videos, live stream, or post stories for one week.

Sennheiser, a staple audio company within the tech industry, unveiled two new earbuds at CES 2024, one being an update to its flagship Momentum line, and the other being the company's first fitness-centered earbuds.

Firstly, Sennheiser announced the Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, which the company describes as its "most capable earbud yet", as it delivers incredible lossless sound along with ultra-low latency through its connectivity that's built on the Qualcomm S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and Snapdragon Sound Technology for aptX. The Momentum True Wireless 4 will be available to pre-order on February 15th for $299.95.

The earbuds feature more than a dozen upgrades compared to its previous generation, with support Bluetooth 5.4, the adopted Qualcomm platform, six microphones, adaptive EQ monitors, physical design improvements, and much more. As for the other pair of earbuds from Sennheiser, the audio company unveiled the Momentum Sport, a $329.95 pair of earbuds releasing on April 9 that integrates both a heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor.

AI has infiltrated everything at this year's CES 2024. Now, there is even a cooker that is capable of cooking an inch-thick ribeye steak in just 90 seconds.

UK company Seergrills is a start-up comprised of engineers and product developers, and its flagship model, named the Perfecta, is one high-tech piece of cooking equipment. The company says that this futuristic grill is more like a see-through countertop oven and that it is capable of cooking food around 10 times faster than other conventional cooking methods.

Inside the grill are vertical infrared burners on either side to cook both sides simultaneously. This allows for super fast cooking and eliminates the need to flip or turn food during the process. According to Seergirlls, the burner tops out at 1,652 degrees Fahrenheit (900 degrees Celsius), and the unit is even capable of producing crispy edges thanks to its 360-degree heating. It includes an onboard AI chef that takes the desired cook level and sears into account and calculates the proper cooking time and temp based on what's in it.

We've just seen another clue that the next version of Windows, due to arrive later this year, will be Windows 11 2024 Update, as opposed to a whole new version of the operating system that needs an entirely new name (like Windows 12).

This comes courtesy of HP spec sheets - unearthed by Windows Latest - for its new Spectre laptops in which the PC maker mentions that the next incarnation of Windows will be the Windows 11 2024 Update (and elsewhere it refers to Windows 11 24H2).

As you may recall, it was rumored for some time that Microsoft would bring out Windows 12 this year. However, in more recent times, we've been hearing consistent mentions of Windows 11 24H2, which seems to indicate that the software giant is opting for a more straightforward upgrade for its desktop OS this year.

Samsung has collaborated with Microsoft to bring a unique Copilot feature to its incoming Galaxy Book 4 laptop that'll benefit those who also own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Over at CES 2024, Samsung announced that the Copilot AI will be able to find and read - or indeed summarize - text messages from your Samsung phone. On top of that, should you wish, you'll be able to get the AI to compose and send replies to those messages, all from the Windows 11 desktop.

As you might guess, this ability will require you to have your Galaxy phone linked to the Galaxy Book via the Microsoft Phone Link app (which brings all sorts of integration into the mix between the two devices).

Samsung gave us our first look at their spherical robot companion in the early days of 2020, pre-COVID, and this year at CES, they unveiled a new look at their updated little yellow friend.

The Korean tech giant took to the stage at CES for their press conference and showed off a look at the new and improved Ballie. A prototype for Ballie was shown way back in 2020, but this new and improved model seems to be larger and has a smoother exterior as well as some quirky features.

Samsung did not bring Ballie on stage but offered a proof-of-concept trailer. In the trailer, you can see Ballie remotely warning its owner that their dog is up to no good before refilling the dog food bowl and using its projector to distract the dog, seemingly following orders and communicating through a text message-like app.

There are a lot of useful new inventions being unveiled at this year's CES, including this interesting new silent mask by Skyted.

It brings the mask-wearing reality of travel and discretion together to create a mask to reduce sound, allowing users to have near-private conversations. Skyted launched its Kickstarter campaign at CES earlier today for its new noise-reducing mask that would allow users to speak freely about anything anywhere without the worry of others eavesdropping, preserving privacy and confidential information.

Kickstarter has already smashed its goal of only $8,800, earning a total of $54,000, showcasing that it is a concept that has got many people's attention. This mask isn't made to completely mute you to the world around you and won't allow you to scream at the top of your lungs without receiving some weird looks. However, it will reduce your sound by 25 decibels, so when speaking at normal volume, the people around you won't be able to hear you.

Have you ever wondered if you could use the palm of your hand as a key? Well, now you can, thanks to Phillips' Wi-Fi Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt that was unveiled at CES 2024.

The new smart lock comes with a price tag of $359.99 and features such as the ability to save 50 palm vein pattern variations across all ages to the device. The device connects with the Phillips mobile app, which enables the smart lock to double as a doorbell. There is a bell button located at the base of the smart lock that, when pressed, sends a notification to a user's Phillips mobile app, informing them someone is at the door.

As for the inside of the Wi-Fi Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt, users will find the device has multiple sensors designed to detect when an individual is reaching for the handle. Once detection has been made, it will automatically unlock the door and then lock it again once the individual has left. Notably, the Wi-Fi Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, which enables voice commands to control the smart lock.

Sony Pictures CEO Kenichiro Yoshida has hit the stage to deliver some surprising news to fans about an upcoming video game adaptation that's set to hit the big screen. Strangely enough, this update was on Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda" film.

President of Sony Pictures Television Studio, Katherine Pope, had also announced earlier in the conference that Sony also has a God of War series in the works with Amazon. In addition to this, streaming giant Netflix will be picking up the adaptation for another popular Sony title, Horizon Zero Dawn.

Technology designed in enhance your gaming experience through haptic sensations has made its way from the headphones all the way down the cushion you are sitting on.

Razer has announced at CES 2024 the world's first HD haptics gaming cushion, dubbed Project Esther, which is powered by Razer Sensa HD Haptics, providing gamers with "lifelike tactile sensations that envelop your whole body." This latest release by Razer is another step forward in giving gamers as much immersion as possible, and as pointed out by Engadget, would be particularly effective at increasing immersion levels when paired with virtual reality headset.

Project Esther includes 16 haptic actuators, comes with multiple device integration, multi-actuator experiences, manual control over the haptic directionality, and physical compatibility with most office chairs, per Razer. Notably, Razer's journey down the haptics road began to gain some traction in 2018 when the company unveiled HyperSense haptics within its Nari Ultimate headphones.

Having a gaming phone means you have to make some sacrifices in other areas of the device; one of those main areas was the camera in ASUS's line-up of gaming phones.

At CES 2024, the company announced two new iterations of its ROG Phone line-up, the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro, and both of these devices feature the upgrade that users of previous generations have been asking for - a good camera. ASUS has seemingly listened to the criticism of its previous ROG Phone, which was widely praised as an overall very high quality and affordable device, and added a 50-megapixel f/1.9 main camera that's powered by a Sony IMX 890 sensor, which is used by the OnePlus 11.

Additionally, ASUS has integrated the Zenfone line's 6-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer that enables better low-light performance and a "Super HyperSteady" video mode. Furthermore, ASUS has placed a 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, along with a third 32-megapixel telephoto shooter. The front-facing camera is a 32-megapixel selfie camera that is now under a punch hole in the display.

During the first day of CES 2024, at Sony's press conference, President and COO of Sony Honda Mobility Izumi Kawanishi invited Microsoft to the stage to talk about bringing AI to their new concept EV, the Afeela and explained how it would make the in-vehicle experience smarter for consumers.

Microsoft and Sony are often depicted as rivals in the media due to the ever-constant "console wars" in which both companies have waged battle for years to see whose flagship videogame consoles will come out on top. However, it has now been announced the two giants have been discussing how they can bring an AI-powered assistant to life and enhance the in-vehicle capabilities of Sony Hondas' futuristic feature-filled car, the Afeela EV.

Microsoft executive Jessica Hawk Joined Kawanishi on stage to talk about the new partnership, which will, of course, involve AI, which seems to be the theme of this year's CES, as well as Microsoft Azure computing infrastructure. The sight of the two companies working together on this new feature is almost as much a spectacle as how Sony got the car on stage this year with the use of a PlayStation control, not something you see every day.

Intel has launched a slew of new 14th Gen Core Desktop Non-K, 14th Gen Core-HX, and Core 100U series processors to join the already released 14th Gen Core and Core Ultra CPUs on the market in desktops and laptops right now.

The new Intel 14th Gen Core Desktop Non-K processors are based on the Raptor Lake Refersh silicon, offering up to 24 cores and 32 threads of CPU power. Intel's current Core-K "unlocked" series processors are on the market now, with a default TDP of between 46W and 65W of power. These new non-K series processors will be offered up with or without an integrated GPU, which will arrive as the new Core-F series processors and are slightly cheaper.

Intel's new Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 processors will arrive with an Intel Laminar RM1 cooler, which is designed perfectly for these power-limited processors efficiently, with up to 154W of cooling capacity. The higher-end Core i9 processors in the new non-K series will have a beefier RH1 cooler that supports the Maximum Turbo Power of 219W on Core i9 non-K series processors.

Sony announced a new mixed-reality headset during its CES 2024 presentation, and while the product doesn't officially have a name yet, it's aimed at creators and artists who work within virtual environments.

On stage, not many details were given about the new Extended Reality (XR) head-mounted display and the unique controllers it comes with. However, many questions regarding the headset were answered in Sony's press release, which states this new device is a "spatial content creation system" that's equipped with two 4K OLED Microdisplays that are powered by a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, the latest XR processor by Qualcomm.

Notably, the new headset features Sony's "proprietary rendering technology" that enables high-definition rendering of 3D objects, along with human facial expressions. Sony states in the press release that the headset has six cameras and sensors and comes with a ring controller, as showcased in the image below. This ring controller slips over the user's finger and allows for precise movements and pointing within the virtual environment. Due to its size, users can still use a mouse and keyboard without removing the headset.

With CES 2024 in full swing, Sony, partnered with Honda, has taken to the stage to show off the new iteration of their Afeela EV.

The Afeela has been a highlight at CES since 2023 and is even more impressive this year. At first glance, the car might have looked to be driving itself onto the stage until a wider perspective reveals that it was driven there using Sony's own PlayStation 5 Dualsense controller.

The car was driven on stage by Sony Honda Mobility president and COO Izumi Kawanishi, who was on stage with the DualSense controller operating the vehicle. The ability to drive the car using a PlayStation DualSense controller is more novel than anything else. It is not to imply any evidence of a PlayStation-controlled car coming sometime in the future but just an act of spectacle for those in attendance at CES. This was backed up by Kawanishi's comment that it was just "for the purpose of the tech showcase".
