DOOM will be out on Nintendo Switch on November 10
Nintendo has just announced that DOOM will be coming to their Nintendo Switch console on November 10, which will include all of the updates and post-launch content.
The physical copy of DOOM will include just the single-player campaign, with the multiplayer side of things needing to be downloaded due to its size. The digital version of DOOM for the Nintendo Switch will include the entire package, as there's no limitations with digital downloads.
In the video above, id Software's Creative Director Hugo Martin, and Executive Producer Marty Stratton talk about what gamers will expect in DOOM on the Nintendo Switch. They also talk about working with developer Panic Button to make sure that DOOM on the Nintendo Switch was "fast, brutal, and true to the experience gamers have loved on other platforms".

Apple CEO: quality AR impossible with today's technology
Based on patents, analyst projections, reports, and the inclusion of ARKit on the latest iPhone handsets, Apple is indeed interested in the Augmented Reality (AR) market, but Apple CEO Tim Cook recently delivered a bold affirmation that the technology to spin the illusion of high-end AR just isn't here yet. Until that technology hurdle is solved, Apple will likely be out of the AR race, and Mr. Cook affirms the company wants to be the best--not the first.
"There are rumors about companies working on those - we obviously don't talk about what we're working on," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a recent interview with the Independent. "But today I can tell you the technology itself doesn't exist to do that in a quality way. The display technology required, as well as putting enough stuff around your face - there's huge challenges with that. The field of view, the quality of the display itself, it's not there yet."
Microsoft has pledged itself as a pioneer of the AR and VR ecosystem and development space with its Windows 10 Mixed Reality platform, which isn't the first such platform, but is one with a wide net. The platform has courted key OEMs like Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS and even Samsung--all of which who have made or are working on Windows 10 MR headsets with VR functionality and planned AR interactions in the future. But Apple isn't interested with being first, says Mr. Cook--they want to be the best, and deliver a quality experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 progressing according to plan, says CDPR
Cyberpunk 2077, the most ambitious game CD Projekt RED has ever taken on, is on track...but that track is very, very long and winding.
It's been a long time since Polish game developer CD Projekt RED has discussed their massive new project Cyberpunk 2077. The teaser trailer dropped in January 2013, and over four years later, we don't have a lot of solid info. Outside of brief snippets from earnings calls and financial reports, the publisher has been quite vague on the topic...however we've collected a nice little treasure trove of updates in our back catalog of content.
Based on rumors that employee morale is low, and worries that Cyberpunk 2077 might actually be cancelled because it simply got too big to handle, CDPR released a statement clearing things up. Cyberpunk 2077 has not been cancelled, and while work is quite slow, co-founder Marcin Iwinski and studio head Adam Badowski affirm the game is "progressing as planned, but we are taking our time." In regards to the lapse of updates, the duo say "silence is the cost of making a great game." You can find a snippet from their joint statement below.

New South Park game parodies frequent console updates
There's a fictional video games system called the Okama Gamesphere in the new South Park game, and every time you turn it on, it needs to update. Sound familiar? It should.
I play my Xbox One about once a month, but it seems every single time I turn it on I have to either download an update of varying size (sometimes as big as 3GB+) to play games online, or do what I normally do and simply play offline. It's frustrating as hell, and Microsoft has been lambasted for it left and right, but now they've officially been lampooned for it by the masters of parody.
In the new South Park: The Fractured But Whole game from Ubisoft San Francisco and South Park Studios, the player character (The New Kid, aka the Farting Vigilante, ButtLord, and/or The Amazing Butthole) has an Okama Gamesphere in his room. Older fans will remember the Okama Gamesphere; it's a bit obscure in South Park lore, a golden oldie.

Discord introduces Verified Servers
Discord have recently announce that their free VoIP application will include Verified Servers. Verified Servers allows for game developers and publishers to help promote their product, distrubtion of official news, showcase their server in-game, custom branding for discord.gg link and other methods of expanding the game's community.
Discord Verified Servers will be indicated via a checkbox next to the game server name, similar to how Twitch indicate their verified accounts. The verification process is fairly straight forward- a server must be owned and moderated by the game developer or publisher that meets Discord's requirements, and follow Discord's community guidelines that includes enabling explicit content filter to remove illegal or malicious content.
The advantages of Discord's Verified Servers is obvious but it remains to be seen how many developers will take advantage of the program other than for social interaction.

Crazy Justice: cross-play PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
The developers of Crazy Justice, a game I've only just come to learn about by developer Black Riddles Studio, will support cross-platform play between the PC, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch.
Crazy Justice is powered by Unreal Engine 4, and is a new third-person shooter that features destructible environments courtesy of NVIDIA's PhysX technology. The game will see you taking control of heroes that have to save the world from evil, with plenty of missions along the way, new heroes, new special weapons, and more so that you can take evil down.
You can build your own custom skill decks, where you can construct barricades, walls, turrets, and other defense systems to keep the evil hordes at bay. Crazy Justice will be a multiplayer-focused game that still sports a single-player campaign, but the cross-platform play between so many platforms is awesome. Black Riddles Studios, kudos - you deserve the praise for this. Other game developers: learn from BRS.

Skyrim Together gameplay video teases co-op Skyrim
Skyrim was a phenomenally successful game, but it was a solo experience... until now. The developers of Skyrim Together, a new co-op mod for Bethesda's infamous RPG, is now here. Check it out below:
The team is aiming for alpha and beta releases starting this year, with a release before the end of the year. But, with a complicated process like modifying Skyrim for a cooperative adventure, I can see Skyrim Together being delayed through to 2018. The team is currently showing off the following in the video:

Qualcomm wants to ban iPhone sales in China
Qualcomm is heating up its battle against Apple, with the chipmaker wanting to see the iPhone banned from sale in China.
According to sources close to the matter, Qualcomm has filed lawsuits with a Beijing intellectual property court, with the company claiming patent infringement while seeing injunctive relief. Qualcomm is fighting Apple over power management and touchscreen technology, something Apple calls Force Touch, in their current-gen iPhones.
Qualcomm says that there are even more examples of their technology being used on Apple devices, which Apple is making a mountain of cash from. Qualcomm spokesperson Christine Trimble, said that Apple hasn't paid its supplier to use that tech in its devices. Qualcomm said: "Apple employs technologies invented by Qualcomm without paying for them".

PolitiFact hacked, mining cryptocurrency on users' PCs
It is the new rage of 2017 to have your website mining Monero, or other forms of cryptocurrency, riding users' CPUs to make money. There's a good way of doing this, and a bad way... but now PolitiFact is joining in on the crypto mining fun, unintentionally.
PolitiFact visitors have noticed that their CPUs are being used, thanks to the site's JavaScript code being hacked. The site has confirmed with TechCrunch that they've removed the code, and is now working out how it happened. With 3.2 million page views per month, they'd be making a pretty penny from people looking to the site for legitimate content.
PolitiFact's hacked JavaScript code used CoinHive, which has been used before as they're a third-party service that uses users' CPUs to mine cryptocurrency. Hijacked CPUs mining cryptocurrency seems to be all the rage right now, and I don't think it's going to slow down.

Windows 10 data collection breaks Dutch privacy laws
We all know Windows 10 sucks all of our data and sends it to the Illuminati, but now Microsoft is facing a growing threat from the Netherlands' Data Protection Authority, where Windows 10 violates the country's data protection law.
This is even after the changes Microsoft made to Windows 10 with the Creators Update, but Microsoft doesn't "clearly inform" users of the type of data that they're collecting, and the reason why they need it. Officials think that Windows' default settings stop users from truly consenting to the data collection, which is a really big problem.
The DPA has said that during the installation process, Windows 10 defaults to full data sharing, encouraging you to accept those terms. Accepting these terms doesn't mean you gave permission, says the Data Protection Authority. The regulator has also said that the Creators Update didn't honor some users' previous privacy settings, and that Microsoft doesn't make it clear that their Edge browser is continuously sucking down all of your app and browsing data when you've got the default privacy settings enabled.

Battlegrounds' new desert map, vaulting system teased
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds single map isn't boring thanks to its gigantic 8x8km size, but with a new map on the way we can't help but wonder how much stronger the addiction to PUBG is going to get.
Erangel, the map in PUBG, is very different to the new desert map. The new desert map is a "sprawling battle arena crowded with desert trees, cacti, and a surprising number of buildings", according to PC Gamer, which recently visited the offices of PUBG Corp in South Korea. PC Gamer continued, saying that the new map features "hills, rises, and ditches in the landscape, which should create lots of opportunities for cover from sniper fire, or alternatively, convenient places to stage an ambush".
Does the new map make a difference? I'd say so, with PC Gamer adding that the new map will feature improved vehicle handling. Depending on what surface you're on: roads, dirt, or very rough terrain. This is going to change those car chase battles that are already intense enough on Erangel, but the new desert map with improved car physics could really change things.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti benchmarks begin to leak
NVIDIA is reportedly less than two weeks away from releasing their new GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, a new graphics card that is going to literally be like a bomb being dropped on AMD, and more specifically against their still fresh Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics card.
AMD's new Radeon RX Vega 56 is the more compelling Vega-based graphics card out of the three launched (RX Vega 56/64/64 LCE), but NVIDIA is prepared to completely demolish Vega 56 with the new GTX 1070 Ti. Now we have some leaked benchmarks to share, with numbers coming out of Ashes of the Singularity.
The benchmarks show that the GTX 1070 Ti will compete with the GTX 1080 in some games and resolutions, powered by the GP104-300 GPU. We have 19 SMs, compared to the full GP104 with 20 SMs. We have 7.2 billion transistors, 2432 CUDA cores, 152 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 8GB of GDDR5 memory. The big difference between the GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1080 is that the latter has GDDR5X RAM, which will make a big difference to performance.

It's official: Cuphead is a smashing success
Cuphead, that charming hard-as-nails indie with wonderful 1930's artwork, has smashed 1 million sales and counting.
While making Cuphead, Studio MDHR toiled for years to ensure their game was as enchanting and fun to play as possible. This meant years of painstakingly animating hand-drawn artwork, years of tweaking and inking, and years of transforming their vision into something gamers haven't ever experience. Now all of that sacrifice and tireless effort has paid off: just two weeks after release the game has gone platinum with over 1 million sales across the globe. The indie team had done it--Cuphead was a success, and has gone down in history alongside indie greats like Stardew Valley and Shovel Knight.
"We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead - it truly makes it all worth it," Studio MDHR founders Chad and Jared Moldenhauer said in a joint statement.

Battlefront II beta's lootboxes will change over time
EA and DICE remind gamers that Battlefront II's beta is just that--a beta, and nothing is permanent or set in stone, including microtransactions and lootbox mechanics.
One of the best things about online service-based games like Destiny, Rainbow Six: Siege, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and now the new Star Wars: Battlefront II is that the game evolves considerably over time. Armed with feedback and a core vision, developers can continually tweak, shape, and overhaul their creations to ensure the games not only expand, but are fun to play and please their audience. The principal point of funding for service games, however, are the dreaded microtransactions--randomized loot boxes in particular are great sources of revenue for these business models. But at the same time these games typically don't change too much from their point of origin (unless they're disastrously unsuccessful), especially when the games have extremely engaging and addictive layers of gameplay like Battlefront II does.
In a recent update, EA and DICE affirm players that Battlefront II will not ever be frozen in stasis, and will change to the whims of the playerbase (within reason, of course: EA isn't about to kill off its main point of recurring revenue streams just because gamers hate lootboxes). The company also clarified a few things to players, who have been bombarded with half-truths and somewhat incomplete information.

MSI debuts 32-inch curved 1080p 165Hz gaming display
MSI has just announced its new Optix AG32C, a new 32-inch 1080p display with an 1800R curvature. It's a huge display, but the 165Hz refresh rate will help gamers enjoy a smooth experience in a whopping 32-inch size.
The MSI Optix AG32C has a native 1080p resolution, 165Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync support, 3000:1 static contrast ratio, and 250 cd/m2 brightness. Connectivity wise we have HDMI 2.0, DP1.2, and dual-link DVI. MSI hasn't revealed pricing just yet, but if you were hoping for a large gaming experience with 32-inch, remember the native 1080p resolution. 1080p should really be enjoyed at up to 27/28-inch or so, while 32-inch is reserved mostly for 4K.
You could squeeze in a large 1440p display into a 32-inch panel and not feel overcrowded, which is something the 165Hz refresh rate will help with. So, MSI... when is a 32-inch 1440p and 4K model coming? 32-inch 4K @ 165Hz... now you'd be talking.
